Now into the role: "Ok are we ready?" "... mmm ... listen I have a question." " You are taller than me, and you run with me so you are also healthy ... But why everytime you get behind?" "'Faunus are faster than humans'? I'm not sure about this ..." "I know it's useless but ... try to keep the pace this time ok?"

The goddess of Bellabooty
Episode 4. Very strange episode that evokes (or recalls) a criticism I have towards Volume 9: Episodes too short. I don't want to go into too much detail about the episode because in itself there is nothing interesting to say ... They are simply other explanations. This is what people refer to as a "rookie mistake" because the mismanagement of an episode's time is really something frustrating to watch, because they are not "cliffangers" but just incomplete pieces of history. RWBY is going in this bad direction of being rushed until you get to Jaune (PLEASE DON'T BE LIKE THAT), and this is bad to see because episodes 2/3 were done with skill while in this one it goes back to the same mistakes of the series. Pacing can be slow too, and I accept that, but if you don't know the archetypes of the characters they're talking about (Alice in Wonderland) then you'll be forever confused by the intentions and motivations of the characters and what they're supposed to represent for the story, this borders on fanfic (if not plagiarism) of a story and RWBY is not. The characters are confronted with a version of themselves from the past (Dragon's Dogma?) which forces them to maintain the status quo. But this makes us see Ruby's doubt compared to that of the other 3, and I like this. But the problem is that then comes the cat who solves everything and ... see you in episode 5. And I should pay for it? I do not think so. Leaving the story open is important for audience reasons but in any case each episode must have a micro-story that fused with the macro-story should make the series something decent. In the episode there MUST be a beginning-development-ending story that allows the characters to evolve and makes the episode, in itself, important. Was this episode for nothing? Yes and no. In what sense? No = Because the characters still talk about themselves and still manage to give a psychological and macroscopic progression to the story; Yes = Because Ruby's doubt is something that had already been introduced at the beginning, it had already been confirmed by the cat and in the end it is reconfirmed by the caterpillar. So? There is no development but only… doubt. Here I am serious: If you read everything I write, without having seen the episode, you already know what happened and are already ready to move on. The place has changed, they meet 1 new character who disappears, and the cat learns what we already know. And here is the opposite of "show don't tell" because WE WASTE time knowing the cat's opinion on things we already know, you can send us 7/8 minutes in a 25 minute episode but not if it's 17 minutes of which 3 are invested for the outro and 1 for the intro therefore 13 total minutes. A whopping 76% of anime lost knowing things we already know. I am afraid. This could be yet another volume of disappointment. I hope not. However we have here the queen, the goddess of big asses, the bellabooty herself: BLAKE BELLADONNA! YAAAAAYYY!!! I already said that I am a fan of characters with short hair, and Blake has always given so much! And it's finally her week! Ha ha ha!
