1. stealing from the elderly is a hilarious title, but knowing who they’re stealing from makes it so much FUNNIER. i’m ready for that crusty old fascist to get her shit rekt
2. cordova as both a comedic figure and a deeply disturbing one is really cool.
3. there were some SOFT bumbleby moments in this one
4. qrow be like “i ruin everything” and ruby’s like “you are an absolute idiot, we were gonna do this no matter what you did and I LOVE YOU YA BIG DUMBASS”
5. i knew blake was going to run into adam the moment she was alone, but, shit. still a kick in the teeth. he never gets any less awful

My Opinions on RWBY: Volume 6: Chapter 10: “Stealing from the Elderly”
Sapphron’s trianed her son to cry on demand. That’s, actually pretty funny.
Ruby calling out Qrow for his self-destructive behavior was another highlight, as was seeing the plan coming together before going completely off the rails with the reveal of Cordovin’s Mech.
And then there’s Adam being responsible for WHY everything went south. Seriously, he’s probably at his scariest here, even if he no longer has his followers. Particularly with the reveal that he’s been following Team RWBY all Volume long. Though I have to ask how he’s seeing through his blindfold.
Welp, time to wrap up Volume 6, since there’s only three episodes left!

RWBY: Volume 6, Episode 10.   “Stealing from the Elderly”.
So I’m guessing the Bumbleby shippers are pretty happy right now!
In the massive analysis I wrote on Blake, I said I couldn’t pointpoint a moment where she demonstrated an indisputable moment where she was in love with Yang.  This has now changed with this chapter.
Just look at this.
Tumblr media
If someone looked at me with that much affection, I would just melt.
We know Yang’s gay for Blake, but here’s more confirmation.
Tumblr media
It seems highly likely we’ll get the fight next episode, I cannot wait.
Bumbleby is happening everyone.  There’s no denying it at this point.
This is the sort of representation I would kill for.  This is everything a M/F romantic relationship gets on other TV shows.  All the build up, all the hints, all the unsaid feelings. A relationship handled with care and told over multiple years.  Part of me cannot believe I am seeing this.

RWBY Volume 6 Episode 10 (Stealing from the Elderly)
It’s wrong to steal from the elderly but because they’re stealing from Cordovin I’ll let it slide.
What did we learn.....
The plan to steal an Atlas ship.
The plan is pretty simple.
1. Weiss pretends to go home to Atlas with Saphron and Adrian accompanying her to the base. The mother and son create a distraction for Weiss sneak Maria, who’s hiding in a suitcase, on board before the guards catch on. They succeed in hijacking the ship.
2. Black and Yang go to the radar tower to disable it long enough for the ship to come pick up Ruby, Oscar, JNR, and Qrow at a cliffside.
Because the plan is so simple of course something is going to go wrong such as.....
Cordovin reminds us why everyone hates her and Atlas.
If Caroline thinks that it’s a good idea to bring out a giant mecha (Gen:Lock reference) out in daylight in front of witnesses just so she can catch the “traitors” and stroke her ego then she is an idiot. There definitely be consequences for that.
Adam has caught up to Blake
Blake is unable to disable the radar because Adam (now wearing a blindfold) has showed up. It turns out those hallucinations of him may not have been hallucinations after because the Faunus hunting and waiting for Blake to be alone for him to take her back or kill her. Yang is on her way to help but the episode ends with Adam and Blake ready to fight.
Tumblr media
Stupid cliffhanger.
At least we know that the fight between Adam, Blake, and Yang will be in the next episode.

RevieWBY: Volume 6, Chapter 10, “Stealing from the Elderly”
Yeah, yeah, I’m late. Sue me.
So, this last run of episodes is essentially what’s shaping up to be the official finale arc, so I’m not sure how well I can really judge these on their own. And mind you, I’m writing this after I’ve seen Chapters 11 and 12, so I know how they fit within a larger context, but the purpose of these is to give individual chapters a particular focus. And that’s kind of hard, because these episodes are almost laughably short: it feels as though the finale arc is being stretched across episodes, much like in Volume 5.
But then I remember...the Volume 5′s finale arc was coming off the heels of a lackluster season, the chapters were longer and thus more time was being wasted, the fights that were going on were downright boring and full of problems, too many resources had been pooled into the character shorts so there wasn’t enough time to give the finale the proper attention, etc. etc. With Volume 6 the renewed production pipeline has given us a volume that’s surprisingly kept up its momentum, plus pretty much every fight has been sufficiently exciting. Couple that with some fight scenes that are cool to watch, and a lot of exciting things happening within the 13 minutes and 52 seconds (which includes titles, credits, and the gen:LOCK trailer) of this episode, I think it’s safe to say this finale battle is going to leave me feeling a hell of a lot more satisfied than the Battle of Haven.
So, let’s break down this episode.
Time For A Battle (Did We Ever Doubt It?)
A lot of the more event-based stuff for this part of the chapter is based around setting up for the upcoming battle, with the plan going awry and the reveal of Cordovin’s mech (geez RT, it’s not like you’re doing a mech show already). Let’s be honest: there was never any doubt things were gonna go wrong. They’re leaving for Atlas a couple episodes before the finale, they were not gonna squeeze in another conflict without resolving the Cordovin one.
I mentioned a couple episodes back putting Atlesian personnel in a direct antagonist position to Team QRWBYJNROM was an interesting turn, since the only Atlas rep we really got before Volume 6 were Ironwood and Winter, who were basically the good guys and in direct counterpoint to the negative image Atlas supposedly have. To have Cordovin so unhinged in her belief in the military’s might that she would use a machine designed to attack Grimm on children and an old lady drives home this idea that team RWBY (I’m not gonna bother with that long acronym) may not have friends in Atlas once they get there.
Look, I’m trying to be one of the more positive RWBY critics, but I think it’s fair to say Qrow’s moment in this episode felt a little undeserved. There needed to be an extra scene of Qrow expressing his frustrations about what was going on, it should not have happened right at the start of what’s going to be a major arc for this volume: it feels like they were trying to tidy up his arc before focusing on that. Really, it feels like Qrow’s arc this season is the one where it feels like they set it up for something bigger but didn’t give it enough focus beyond some really good moments, like they fast-forwarded it when they realized they were nearing the end of the volume and needed it cleared out of the way. It would’ve made Ruby’s heroic speeches in this chapter and the last seem more deserved.
I’ve implied this before, but I say clearly: RWBY’s writing isn’t eh because it’s lazy. It’s just rushed. They are attempting to tell a story on a grander scale than what their production time allows. This large cast is better suited for a show that has at least 20 minutes every episode, so every storyline can get enough focus. Instead, and this has happened with pretty much every volume, they realize halfway through that they don’t have enough time to cover every major thread they’ve sewn, and they skip important steps just so they can finish the volume at the point they want it to. I honestly would prefer having longer hiatuses between seasons if it meant everything they try to introduce could get properly addressed.
As for the rest of this section, the humor’s still working well. It’s nice to know they’ve kept up with the consistent balance of humor and drama this volume when it seemed almost sporadic for the last two years. My personal favorite moment was Adrian fake crying. That baby’s got a career in theater in his future.
Cat vs. Bull
Oh, there’s Adam.
My prediction that Adam wasn’t gonna play a major role until these last couple of chapters came true! I’m a genius!
Okay, I’m not. But I will say with regards to Adam: there could’ve been a better buildup to his appearance. This sequence basically confirms that what Blake saw in Chapter 1 was probably not a hallucination and really him, following her and waiting for her to be alone. If that’s what things were building up to, I would’ve included lingering shots or references implying he was following her: like, I dunno, a shot of him hiding among the crowd on the train, Blake sensing him while walking around Argus, Cinder mentioning to Neo that she couldn’t find Adam anywhere...it would’ve built up tension towards Blake v. Adam Round 3.
As for the animation, well, good as always (...nope, couldn’t say that last part with a straight face). Seriously though: this fight with Blake and Adam is really well done. The PvP fights we’ve been getting this volume have so far been really good, and having one with Adam equals a lot of spectacle. It’s clear the animators have a lot of fun animating his fights, as there are some really creative things going on.
Conclusions
I’m sorry to say this again, because this volume has impressed me otherwise, but it feels a lot like we’re gonna get another finale arc that didn’t get the proper buildup. I keep saying this, but they seriously need to consider delaying releasing the volume until after they’ve finished everything. It’s the model that gen:LOCK’s gonna be following, the last thing we need right now is more rushed storytelling. But they have improved on the other things to the point that from a technical standpoint I’d be daring enough to put this volume on the level of Volume 2 (with better animation).
As for this chapter...well, it’s a set-up chapter. I was tempted to wait to watch all four chapters in the finale arc and then put them together, but that wouldn’t be consistent with what I’ve been doing. From a writing standpoint, this had a good mix of humor and drama, but in the context of the entire volume certain arcs felt like they were rushed. I don’t like the return of the cliffhangers that plagued the last couple of chapters of Volume 5, but it’s worth noting that those cliffhangers came at the end of disappointing deliveries of action-–they were short so animators would have time to work on them, but it wasn’t enough time for those episodes to be anywhere near as epic as they needed to be––all the work seemed to be focused around the Maiden battle, and that’s not even in the final episode. At least with this set of episodes it seems there’s enough action going on and they had enough time to work on them that they feel satisfying. That holiday break probably did wonders for these chapters.
So yeah. I think I’ll focus my energy on reviewing these as a whole when I do a full-volume review.
By the way...if you’ve been following my thoughts all season, how would you feel if I made my full-volume RevieWBY an actual video?

RWBY Volume 6 Chapter 10
My personal thoughts and opinions on Chapter 10 of RWBY Volume 6, "Stealing from the Elderly"
SPOILERS BELOW:
As if Jaune's idea wasn't a big enough crime as is, you had to go and say it like that?
I swear they intentionally planned to use every second of Cordovin's screentime to make her more and more unlikable. It's like Jacques, just more hammy.
Also, not sure how I didn't catch this from Nora's "big dumb boot" comment, but I'm changing my official guess to her being the Little Old Lady who lived in a shoe, which probably makes all of the guards her "children".
And the Academy Award for Best Actor goes to...Adrien Cotta-Arc! I mean, it certainly isn't going to his mother.
I must say, I have to feel sorry for Terra in all of this. There she was, just enjoying a nice peaceful life with her wife and son, the BAM suddenly her in-laws show up, eat her food, break her house, and get her mixed up in a crime involving the relay tower that she was already catching crap about. Saphron owes you one hell of a night out once all of this done, hun.
Still holding out for the proper bees talk, but I can live with these small cute moments in the meantime.
Ok, who the hell sells these nigh-invisible ear coms that every action hero seems to have access to whenever sneaky stuff goes down? I don't imagine they would be cheap, yet everyone seems to have them when convenient.
Ren and Nora sitting there like "He's a dork, but he's our dork." I love Team JNPR so much.
Ok, the Penguin guards may have weirded me out the first episode they were in, but I will freely admit to their hilarity this time around.
Maria is such a grandma and I love her for it.
Cue the "This is the part where things go wrong and drama occurs" part of the heist.
Wouldn't a smart part of the plan be for their to be a way for Maria and Weiss to confirm Blake's success before turning back. I mean, not only was Blake's part the most crucial part of the mission, but it also had the most potential for going horribly wrong. Simply assuming that it had all gone well and turning back like they had just seems rather silly.
Seeing Weiss slowly die on the inside at Maria's expense is easily one of the comedic highlight's of this episode.
To all of the people who worked on that "jargon" joke, writers, directors, actors, etc., that was one of the funniest jokes I think this show has delivered in a while, and I applaud you for it.
Oh my god...did Maria really make a point to bring an entire bag of cashews on the off chance that she could use them to tell Cordovin to fuck off? How much more can you make me love this woman, RT!?
Ok, I'm just going to say it Qrow, that little "this is my fault" piece was probably one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. And I've read my own attempts at fanfiction.
Are Miles and Kerry seriously going out of their way to avoid so much as mentioning Summer. This was yet another golden opportunity for Qrow to echo Raven's line, and they still decided to pass it up. What are you holding out on us for, guys!?
Wow, the gen:LOCK advertisement campaign is getting intense. They must have a lot riding on that one.
Now forget about the battle with the giant frikkin' robot, we've got something much more interesting to deal with! Adam.
(Words I never thought I would utter)
Ok, I get that the image of Adam dropping his mask in the character short was cool and all, but it kind of loses it's oomph when he goes and covers his eyes anyway. Besides, one of my biggest fantasies was for his eyes to be revealed Yang shattering his mask with her robot fist, and you just can't do that with a blindfold. Sigh, oh well.
Well, I suppose it has been a while since an episode ended on a proper cliffhanger, so I'll give CRWBY that.
For such a short episode, they managed to pack quite a bit into it, setting up not only a fight with a giant frikkin' robot, but what I imagine to be the final confrontation between Adam, Blake, and inevitably Yang. Kind of sad that the latter sounds much more interesting and exciting than the fight with the giant frikkin' robot, but I guess that's RWBY for you

Live Blogging RWBY Vol. 6 – Ch. 10: Stealing from the Elderly
Read From the First Post

Tumblr media
Finally.
Okay. The first two-thirds of this episode were just awful. They were basically all the parts of the volume that I haven’t liked amalgamated into one terrible whole. Caroline and her guards are way too goofy to be believable. They completely suck any dramatic tension out of the episode. Plus her mech is utterly non-threatening in this situation. The airship Weiss and Maria are on flies about ten times faster than the mech can walk. All they have to do to escape is open up the throttle. Also, Qrow’s angsting is just pathetically childish at this point, and the speech Ruby gives him is just a rehash of the one she gave him at the end of the last episode.
But enough about that nonsense. Let’s talk about Adam, shall we?
I have been waiting for this moment for so long. I knew it was coming this episode, even before Adam showed up. The second that Blake went incommunicado, I knew. I’m incredibly happy that the fight is just going to be Yang and Blake versus Adam. That’s how it should be. And I think the actual confrontation is going to be awesome. I mean, it better be. It’s one of the reasons I’ve been watching RWBY for the past several years. It’s just too bad the setup was handled so poorly. Adam showed up in the first episode, the very beginning of the first episode even, and declared his intentions of being the main bad guy for this volume. Then…nothing. He just appears nine episodes later out of the blue. Granted, characters dropping in from nowhere is very indicative of RWBY’s classic style (I’m looking at you, Raven during Volume 2!) but RWBY’s storytelling has evolved by leaps and bounds since then. My expectations are higher.
You know what, I lied. I’m not done talking about the first part of this episode. The whole Caroline story arc this volume has been far more intrusive than I feared it would be when she first showed up. RWBY has such a short running time that it can’t afford to have plot elements that contribute nothing to the overall story. Adam needed a bigger presence this volume, even if it wasn’t spent in direct confrontation with Blake. If the Caroline arc had been removed, there would have been time to show what he was up to on his journey to Argus. For example, while Team RWBY was struggling to get to the city, the show could have occasionally cut to Adam’s efforts to track Blake down. That way the tension could have been built up over the course of the Volume instead of Adam just suddenly being there.
Well I hope this post didn’t sound too negative. I'm genuinely excited to see what the next episode of RWBY will bring, more so than I’ve been in a long while. And the road that brought us here was delightful. There was just a big pothole in it that spilled my coffee everywhere. Until the next episode! And what an episode it should be! I hope! (Please.)

REVIEW // RWBY | 6.10 | “STEALING FROM THE ELDERLY”
AKA no chill.
Welcome in to my review of Volume 6, Chapter 10, entitled, “Stealing from the Eldery”.
In this episode: The escape plan is executed.
I can’t, I just…
Tumblr media
CAN’T GO TWO STEPS WITHOUT SOME DUDE’S BITCHING. SMH.
It’s a very good thing to see Team RWBY going to work.
It’s become particularly interesting to chart these kinds of “all together now/time to go” episodes since the group split. Of course, we’ve only been getting these kinds of moments this season and at the end of last season – but even prior to the reunion, we’ve seen each of the girls take charge in their own individual storylines and wrangle their way towards their respective conclusions.
These kinds of episodes tend to be largely action-based, with smatterings of character beats laid-in – keeping in mind that action-based episodes in RWBY don’t just happen all the time these days, and a lot of weeks between them are spent building character and setting (a good thing, in my opinion). The disparity, though, between this episode and the ones leading up to it, is a jolt all of its own.
I’ve not been too big on the Argus stuff; ever since Team RWBY escaped the snowy forest, the show has been a bit uneven and betrayed the consistent quality that this season ran with for (more or less) six straight episodes. Argus has given us fun moments, like the introduction of the Cotta-Arc family. The previous episode was an unexpectedly poignant reflection on grief and acceptance. But the pacing of the arc has been inconsistent, and the tension (notably within Team RWBY) has dissipated.
So, to have here an episode which starts at 60 and ramps up to 100 within a few minutes? Took me a second to get my bearings. At one point, there are so many elements of the episode flying at us, the viewer, that the scattered, chaotic feeling of the central plot comes strongly across.
And through all the noise and mecha suits and returning stalkers, the members of Team RWBY still find ways to shine. Weiss, despite not having had a signature story since the beginning of last season, has long since proven a great hand for most purposes – in this case, the canary in the coal mine. And Ruby is simply a leader now – there’s no more dancing around it. And now, they’ll be fighting Cordovin in a giant mecha-suit? One can imagine that the next part of this story will showcase these two even further.
Blake hasn’t had the opportunity to do much this season, aside from awkwardly trying to rebuild her relationship with Yang. So when – almost immediately – her part of the plan in this episode gets flubbed, the promise of something different for her becomes substantial. By bringing Adam back, the show can tie up his mopiness from the beginning of the season and (hopefully) grant him a cathartic exit at Blake’s hands. And more than that, it can use him as a tool to tie up the angst still remaining in Blake and Yang’s bond. Yang’s speeding off to Blake’s aid promises that much.
We’ll get out of Argus with a strong ending, and ultimately, there will be many more positives to take from it than negatives. Forcing Team RWBY into action is a good way to ensure that. But one cannot help but wonder at the ways this subplot could have been explored more efficiently – as fun and endearing as it has been at times.
OBSERVATIONS
The plan: Weiss and Maria pilot the airship out of the camp and beyond radar range. Blake disables the camp’s radar. Weiss and Maria double back to pick up the rest of the gang.
I don’t care what you say. Those two guards are hilarious.
Good that they picked up the thread of Terra and Saphron having beef with Cordovin’s camp.
God, just … Yang and Blake. Just the riding the motorcycle, and Blake’s arm around Yang’s waist, and how they talk to each other, and how Yang is the first one to go after her when she senses something wrong … alright, calm down.
Weiss bickering with Maria was quite a treat.
My thought when Qrow was doing his “woe is me” shtick: To be fair, Qrow, you were on death’s doorstep two years ago and I wasn’t expecting you to make it out of that, so you aren’t the only one who’s surprised about you still being here.
“Happy” isn’t quite enough to cover how I feel about Ruby these days. This season, she has grown so comfortably into the role of Central Hero. There’s still work to do, but the writers have done a great (if admittedly overdue) job of building her up the right way.
If anything, the common thread of this episode is the girls getting shit done while the men stand around (and bitch, in the case of Qrow and Adam). This show thinks it’s slick.
GRADE: B+
“Stealing from the Elderly” is, functionally, like a shot of coffee into the system of a season which has meandered in recent weeks. By jumping right into action and showcasing the titular Team RWBY going to work, this episode wastes no time reestablishing course and spotlighting each of the four heroines. Its brevity and whirlwind plotting sacrifices any kind of grace period for the viewer, and any kind of ending is foregone in favour of a two-pronged cliffhanger – at the least, it promises a significant and momentous conclusion to this subplot. – KALLIE
