Headcanon part below

I like to think scavenger tribes have a similar hierarchy to a hyena clan! The chieftain is a dominant female who selects their partner. And the rest of the tribe tends to be composed of their descendants. They do let alone scavengers join their tribe but they begin as the lowest members and receive the least food. The youngest in the tribe eat first. Low-ranking members can climb the social ladder by befriending higher-ranking members.

I also headcanon that scavengers use a combination of sign language and sounds to communicate. Their grammar will be different to how human sign language works but for the sake of future content I'm gonna make them use BSL (since I'm trying to learn it aswell it might help for remembering signs of I draw them). They might magically gain an extra digit on their hands because of that lmao.

Rain World brainrot has had me in a CHOKEHOLD as of late so have this handful of characters because i said so. I don't have a comprehensive story for them yet and what i do have is just theoretical. they're just funky little guys look at them. funky robot anatomy is fun

i gave the scavengers Ancient names for lore reasons but i am honestly not hyperfixated enough and too tired to make a lore dump

all you guys need to know is that Ponder got hacked by their citizens because said citizens disagreed with the majority of Ancients who wanted to escape the cycle, so now Ponder works to protect the happiness of the creatures living on and around them instead of working to cross them out :D

also, Cloud/the Oracle is a slugpup that got adopted by Insect, and later found their purpose delivering and translating messages from Ponder to the tribe (overseers aren't the best at communicating comprehensible messages lmao)
