Everything about this pfl photo is Something, because C.T. it makes me insane when people think south is 100% in the wrong in the set your trackers scene because

SHES DOING STEALTH NORTH. WHAT DO YOU MEAN TALK TO YOU.

just. like. why do so many people take the directors word at face value on the fact that south was the one who fucked up there. we KNOW that pfl was actively manipulating her. why would their judgement in this situation be the objective truth.

and i’ll acknowledge that the narrative itself isn’t doing her any favors. but. read between the lines.

south is DEFINITELY over confident but she’s saying that setting her trackers “takes too long”. and it sucks bc we don’t actually know what “setting your trackers” entails. north tells south the next patrol is in 20 seconds and she seems confident she’ll be gone before then. and south is good at stealth. she fucking. fully trouble in terrorist towns a guy with his friend like 6 feet away. she was above north on the leaderboard before this mission! she knows what she’s doing. if “setting your trackers” takes a few seconds and she’s only got 20 then like. yeah, maybe she’s right! maybe setting them genuinely would have taken too long and gotten her caught! it’s definitely a risk but i don’t think it’s fair to assume it’s not one that she calculated and determined to be the best course of action.

and with her asking “what’s the time” i think it’s very fair to assume that pfl is asking them to work as quickly as possible with these things. if she had taken her time would she have gotten admonished for that? is that why north was below her in the first place? “taking risks” seems to be incredibly rewarded by pfl. or at least, they are as long as you’re the right person. they are as long as they pay off.

I think a lot about the fact that all of the female freelancers, not just Tex were designed to fail in one way or another. For Connie, she was told she would never meet the skills of her colleagues, which put her in such a position where she was doomed to snap, and a position she was doomed to be hunted down loosing it. Carolina was taunted with the brink of failure, her whole life she believed what was perfect was being at the top of it, this was only really fueled by the Director. While not directly ever said we can assume this was the only way Carolina could see herself close to her father. Then it was just taken away from her where failures piled up on her and up on her causing her to become obsessed with someone she can literally never beat. South was the control variant of an experiment, South was forced to snap constantly and was punished for doing so. She was constantly taunted like a dog. Even Ohio, all she’s ever known was failure, she and the triplets tried and tried to make themselves known for being more then bottom of the barrel freelancers, but never succeeded until they were just left for dead

Project freelancer egged all of them on so much to the point where they can only be known as their worst qualities and the writers did an excellent job at this because most of the fandom thinks of them similarly. All of their worst qualities were just fueled and fueled to the point where during the freelancer arc, you can forget their good qualities. I think South’s the best example, because so many people can’t see her as more then a backstabbing short tempered bitch, rather than a highly skilled, well organized, timed and motivated killer, who can fucking hide amongst pipes and wipe out guards without a sound, while sometimes over her head can and will defend herself. Or Carolina, became selfish with obsession, to the point where she’d betray her partner and friends, in favor of pursuing her idea of success, because in the program, there wasn’t another way

I’m in no way a South apologist, but honestly, I feel like all the female freelancers, all had such strong themes of failure in their lives, some were able to overcome it and become so great and badass, some accepted it and became happy, and some were killed for it

basically realized that Maine would have recognized Marilon's stolen-from-the-lost-n-found hoodie and, essentially, stole it back (i might end up writing that but we shall see.) so Marilon would be without a hoodie. Of course his friends wouldn't want to see their friend cold and uncomfortable, so North and York start lightly bickering who's hoodie he should get. Only for South to decide that they're taking too long.

anyways, that's how Marilon ends up with a hoodie borrowed from South, and a mild concussion lol.
