Me: I will not watch RRR again. I am done. Enough is enough. It can’t go on like this. Get a hold of yourself, woman.
Me: (scrolls through every OTT for 30 mins, nothing seems to give happiness)
Me: Just a couple of scenes. One last time, promise.

Hi TT.
I've been seeing a lot of social media discourse about RRR. I personally really enjoyed the film and I'm kinda sad that us indians are just shitting on all the hype that it's getting in the West. I get that it's not THE best thing from Indian cinema but why is that even a part of the argument. It's not the best but it's still pretty awesome and it deserves the hype. Why can't we just celebrate the fact that a great film is being appreciated globally. We really are our worst enemies.
What are your thoughts on RRR?
Hellllllo!
I personally haven't watched it, coz Rajamouli's style of cinema is just not my cup of tea; tbh I haven't watched any of them and don't feel motivated to either (other than maybe Eega, for the sheer ingenuity of that plot.)
I'm in two minds, really. On one hand, I get why some people are disgruntled. In my (and clearly, their) opinion, there's a lot more cinema made in this country that seems much more worthy of being celebrated, which isn't getting it's due, because of movies like this. Like..... This type of movie is very reductive to the West's stereotypical "idea" of what India is like; recall that the last one that received such adulation was Slumdog Millionaire (not even an Indian-made movie in the first place, just geographically set here), which again.... portrayed India in that very "crime, grime, and bursting into naach-gaana" kinda way. It's like if we only watched cowboy movies and based our whole idea of life and people in the USA that way. I don't blame people for wanting our culture and especially our cinema, to be seen as fully-fledged and multi-faceted, rather than just OTT action and ~~drama~~ and big song and dance numbers.
But!!!! On the other hand, now that this movie HAS made it so big, I think it shouldn't be begrudged. Very few Indian movies manage to get the world's interest like this has. If this leads to more people becoming interested in Indian cinema, and just diversifying their media diet at the very least (when have people looked beyond Bollywood when it came to Indian cinema????), I think we can count it as a win. The point is, cinema is one of the biggest mediums of soft power, and if RRR's success means getting people more invested (whether financially/emotionally) in the diversity of our country, then that's a good thing for everyone involved.
ETA: @tadibaaaz has a very insightful reply on why this movie is receiving the criticism it is, that I wasn't aware of at all. Please do check it out!

Post theatrical run, Jr. NTR starrer Devara Part 1 set for Netflix streaming in five languages
Following its theatrical run, Jr. NTR starrer Devara Part 1 will be available for audiences on Netflix. The OTT platform on Monday announced itself as the streaming partner. The RRR star is ready to roar and unleash his massiest avatar to date in his upcoming action drama.
Tumblr media
Netflix India shared the poster of Devara Part 1 with a caption that read, “Devara strikes fear in the hearts of villains. Gear up for the ultimate hero. #Devara is coming soon on Netflix in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi as a post theatrical release!”
instagram
Over a week ago, a stunning video footage was unveiled which begins by introducing seas, ships, and a world filled with bloodshed. Jr. NTR roars as Devara in a different and kickass avatar. The stunning glimpse introduces the grand scale of the film and Devara's character. He is seen washing a D-shaped weapon with blood in the sea and revealing why it is called a “Red Sea” with a powerful dialogue in his roaring voice that offers the much-needed high. The dialogue loosely translates to – “This sea seems to have seen more blood than fish; hence, it is called the Red Sea.”
Janhvi Kapoor makes her Telugu debut as she is playing the female lead in the film. Saif Ali Khan plays the antagonist in the movie. Helmed by filmmaker Koratala Siva, the film will be released in two parts.
The film stars Prakash Raj, Srikanth Meka, Tom Shine Chacko, Narain, and many other notable actors. Devara is presented by Nandamuri Kalyan Ram while it is bankrolled under the banner of NTR Arts and Yuvasudha Arts. Mikkilineni Sudhakar and Hari Krishna K are the producers.
The music is scored by sensational composer Anirudh Ravichander. Sreekar Prasad is the editor of the project. Ratnavelu is handling the cinematography and production design will be handled by Sabu Cyril.

You're a fan of SRK right?😍 Got a question for you... Do you feel it is high time for him to explore himself as an actor - not just a superstar? Jawaan was great and I really enjoyed, but somehow I feel bollywood did not really exploit the great acting quality of SRK, actor srk kind of got overpowered by the star SRK. When can we expect another bazigar or another chak de or another My name is Khan?
Yes, I am SRKian. To answer you honestly, no, I don't think now is the right time. Currently Indian film entertainment market is not favorable for experimental movies or actors. For now, there is a clear distinction - all the experimental, drama heavy, or script led content is working on OTT platforms. Whereas, on multiplexes, if we go by the last three quarters or even year, then what worked is larger than life story telling filled with high octane action and decent script. Take into account the movies that were successful on Box Office - Jawan, Pathaan, Gadar, KGF II, RRR, Vikram etc...All of them got decent storyline, which is backed by high octane actions and shock values.
At times of inflation, people are visiting cinemas, spending pretty good chunk of money, so they don't expect to watch a movie that can be easily consumed on OTT platforms.
Also, as far as SRK is concerned, I think he had done his far share of experimental work with Swades, My Name Is Khan, Fan, Ra.One, Zero - none of them worked. Ra.One and Zero getting flop was understandable as the script was shit but rest all were quite different and interesting films, and people liked them when it was premiered on TV. On theaters, it didn't do well.
With Pathaan, Jawaan, and Dunki SRK, it was quite clear that he was making these movies for his youngest son. He wanted to show him why so many people come to greet papa everyday, why they stand for hours outside his bungalow? Why was his papa famous? He proved with Pathaan and Jawan.
Now, post Dunki, let see what SRK decides to do. It all depends on him because he is at the top level of his career, that too, at the age of 57. He has proved that he is still the Badshah of Bollywood. I mean, now he got fan following from three different generations, which is huge. So, at the level that he is, I think he should do cinema only because he likes the script.

The causes of the VFX industry's expansion in India
You can develop your creativity, problem-solving, planning, and evaluation skills by majoring in design and technology at the MAAC Institute in Pune. Since many projects require group collaboration, you'll also develop your interpersonal and cooperative skills. Not to mention, it will really exercise your creative side!
1. Booming market: The number of young people interested in using 4G, 5G, and other portable technology has significantly increased. use of visual effects (VFX) in animation and cinema has increased. India is one of the first options when considering a nation that offers services to the animation sector.
 2. Opportunities that are pertinent: The OTT, television, and AGV divisions are propelling business growth, and in this digital era, they are also assisting in the bolstering of technology. Animation businesses and academies are booming in cities like Bangalore, Chennai, and Mumbai.
 3. Supporting legislation: The FDI cap was raised from 74% to 100%. To promote the development of low-cost digital communications infrastructure and services, the government released the National Digital Communications Policy 2018 (NDCP 2018).
 4. Investments: Investment in the animation and VFX industry has increased. In 2021, domestic revenue is anticipated to increase to 40% of total revenue, with around 60% coming from international sources.
In order to enhance and visually affect the content of storytelling, the entertainment industry, production companies, and content providers are creating stories that rely on special effects and animation. Action and mythical films make up a large portion of the movies that were released under Covid, and these films heavily rely on animation and visual effects throughout the creation and post-production phases, which is another factor contributing to the industry's expansion in the nation. The production team may easily use a pre-made setting with some colour modifications thanks to new technologies, which lowers manufacturing expenses. Storylines that extensively rely on animation and special effects are now being developed by filmmakers, production firms, and content suppliers. Inception, Avengers, Baahubali, and of course Khaleesi's dragon from Game of Thrones were all made in India. The most recent action-techno thrill ride with puzzling visual effects includes Tenet (Oscar winner for VFX), KGF, RRR, and Brahmastra. There are a lot more well-known athletes in the competition; these are just a handful. These examples show that although though animation and special effects have always been a part of the process of creating content, they have now reached their highest point.
Finally, with the introduction of modern technologies, the animation and VFX sector has grown to new heights. Nevertheless, a faster growth rate is anticipated in the following several years. The planned expansion has a strong base thanks to sophisticated methods and creative expression. The animation sector is now growing quickly. India is currently thought of as one of the best places to provide animation and content services.
