Spring Break Kickback | Masterlist
Tumblr media
synopsis: Bradley knew you were innocent, but he wasn't just sure how innocent you were.
prompt: “There is no way anyone is that innocent.”
word count: 3.1k
warnings: age gap (reader is 23, Bradley is 35), oral sex (f receiving), mentions of phone sex, blink and you miss it corruption kink, a dash of daddy kink.
Tumblr media
Bradley wasn’t quite sure what he was getting himself into when he first walked up and asked for your number. The aura you gave off was a sophisticated one. You handled yourself with such poise and control that he surely thought you were near the same age as him. But then he watched as the bartender asked for your ID, and got a glimpse of the last digits of your birth year and nearly had a heart attack. You asked him if the twelve year age gap was an issue for him, and he just shook his head and smiled.
You were twenty-three, but very mature for your age. You graduated college two years prior, and landed a good job with a well known law firm in LA, handling some high profile clients. You told Bradley that you had to grow up quick, your childhood anything but glamorous. You spent your high school and college years with your nose in your textbooks, determined to get into your dream school and become a lawyer. He admired your charisma and spunk that you had. He liked girls who had goals and followed through with them.
However, those years of spending time alone in your dorm and apartment set you vastly against the rest of your peers. You didn’t know how to tell him, slightly frightened of how he would take it. You had only had one “boyfriend” if you’d even call it that, and he dumped you the second you said you were a virgin. But Bradley was different from college frat boys, but alas he was still a man. And you. . . well you hardly knew the first thing about sex. So, just like how you did in college, you began researching. And man, were you both terrified and intrigued.
Bradley never pressured you with the sex stuff. He was a proper gentleman, and decided to take your cues on everything, not wanting you to feel uncomfortable. Hell for the first six weeks of being together, he didn’t do more than hold your hand. It was a constant battle to not just lean in and kiss your plump lips, but he knew that his mother would smack him if he did without your permission. But then one day you turned to him during the middle of the Lion King and asked him to kiss you.
He had been caught off guard, and it took him a second for his mind to catch up, but he obliged by your request and kissed you. And since that night, nearly two weeks ago, it was like a beast had been unleashed and was clawing its way out of you. You didn’t know that even the simplest kiss could send that shiver down your spine and in between your legs like those smut novels you read could. For the past couple weeks, that’s all the two of you have done, shared quick kisses here and there. But now you laid your head on his chest, you wanted more. His brown eyes were trained on the TV screen in front of him, and you looked over his features.
“Just take a picture, sweetheart,” Bradley looked down at you and you quickly looked away, a blush on your face. You were silent for a moment, before looking back up at him and he looked back at you, “What’s up, darlin?”
You opened your mouth to say something, but suddenly words failed you. The only thing that came to mind was to kiss him and that’s what you did. Bradley reacted within a split second and kissed you back, but as he went to pull away, you put your hand on the back of his neck and deepened the kiss. He was surprised, but didn’t show it. His hand went and rested on the thigh of the leg you had draped over his. His rough palm sends shivers up your body as he moves his hand up and down your skin. You pulled away breathlessly, but pulled his head down to place kisses on your neck.
“More,” You pleaded and Bradley nodded, the hairs of his mustache tickling your skin as he kissed your neck. You closed your eyes tightly as you felt that familiar pulsing in between your legs. That oh so delightful feeling that you had never indulged in, but loved so much. Bradley had been the only real guy to bring out that feeling, and you wanted more of it. As if he could read your mind, he pulled away from your neck and kissed your lips again, shifting your body so he could set you on his lap, straddling him. His hands ghosted down the sides of your body before resting on your hips, pulling you down even more. You gasped as you felt something hard against your thigh, and you pulled back from him.
“What? Too much? I’m sor-” Bradley began to speak but you shook your head, “Talk to me, sweetheart, please.” He gently cupped your cheek and ran his thumb over the supple part of it. You loved when he did that, and nuzzled into the warmth of his hand.
“Bradley, I. . . I’ve never done. . . You’re the first guy I’ve ever kissed,” You admitted and Bradley slowly looked up at you.
“What?”
You wanted to hide, but you knew it was now or never. That if Bradley wasn’t the man you thought he was, it would be better to get the heartbreak over and done with now, than let this go on any longer. You were trying to conjure up in your head what you were going to say next on how you would explain your lack of experience without sounding totally pathetic. That’s how guys your age saw you. Pathetic. What twenty some year old had never had her first kiss? But something deep down, told you that Bradley was different.
“There is no way anyone is that innocent,” Bradley said.
Well, not anymore.
You snapped your head up at him, tears welling in your eyes and he quickly regretted every word that just came out of his mouth. He didn’t mean for it to sound bad. It was that he was utterly shocked. He knew that you wanted to take things slow, and so did he. He was in no rush to just get down and dirty. He genuinely cared about you, and wanted this to be more than a friends with benefits thing. But he didn’t know that your apprehensiveness was due to inexperience. Which now the way you looked at him, made him feel like the biggest asshole on the planet.
“No, baby, it’s not like that,” Bradley said and rested both of his hands on your back.
“Then what is it like, Bradley?” You spat.
“I mean it as. . . You’re a virgin.”
You nodded and crossed your arms over your chest, “I am. But I’m not some bible prude.” You turned your nose up and Bradley couldn’t help but chuckle a bit, “I just haven’t found anyone that makes me. . . get. . . mushy?”
“Mushy?”
“That’s how they describe it in the books.”
“Books?”
“Yeah you know like. . . spicy books,” You mumbled. You knew that if you held a tomato up to you right now, you would not be able to spot a difference.
You watched as that boyish grin spread across his face, “You read porn?”
“It’s not porn!” You slap his chest and Bradley chuckles. He wraps his arms around you and brings you in close, so your head is resting on his chest. You suddenly realize that you really like this position and you think that Bradley can tell too.
“I’m following your lead here sweetheart. You tell me what you want to do. I’ll do whatever you are comfortable with,” Bradley said, running his hands up and down your back. You nodded and placed a kiss on the corner of his mouth. You gently moved so you were laying on the side of him, your head still on his chest and his arms around. He hummed in satisfaction and squeezed you a bit tighter.
— — —
True to Bradley’s word, he had followed your lead completely when it came to sexual things. You hadn’t done anything more than just some making out and on top of the clothes touching, but you knew he was dying to do more. And he knew you were too. It almost caused you pain to push him away, put you were scared of that feeling in your body as you’d grind against Bradley’s lap. Bradley was doing what he could to help you, letting you know that the “mushy” feeling you were feeling was normal and encouraging you to touch yourself when you were alone.
You didn’t know the first thing about masturbating, but luckily Bradley knew a thing or two about female pleasure. He had called you one night, and walked you through the steps. On what to rub, what to touch, how it should feel. You were almost one hundred percent sure that you stopped before you could actually orgasm. The shaking of your legs and that tight feeling in your stomach was too much. Bradley promised that once you actually did it, it would be the most euphoric feeling you ever felt.
“Bradley,” You whined out as his hands skimmed up under the sweatshirt you were wearing. The two of you were having yet another movie night at his place. You were slowly making your way through the Harry Potter series, the fifth installment acting more as background noise than entertainment. Your wear leaning against the arm of the couch, with Bradley nearly on top of you, both of your legs crossed over his lap as you two made out.
“That’s my name, honey,” He said against your skin. He pulled away from you, so you could see his face, his hand grabbing yours and intertwining your fingers with his, “How can I be of service?”
You had been practicing how you were going to say this all week. It wasn’t something that he had even brought up yet, but during one of your research dives you had come across a rather interesting video. And of course that video led you on a deep dive into other videos, but they were all the same, with all the same outcome.
“Do you. . . do you like, uh, oral sex?” You asked him.
It was silent for a moment as Bradley had to restart the computer that was his brain. He wasn’t sure how such a simple, innocent question, turned him on so much.
“Uh, yeah, yeah. Yes, I do like oral sex,” Bradley said. All guys liked a good blowjob every once in a while. Bradley would be lying if he said he hadn’t dreamed of the day you’d get on your knees and put his mouth on him.
“Do you like. . . giving it?”
No one had ever asked Bradley that question before and it had taken him aback. But he nodded and said, “Yeah. I do like giving oral sex. Why do you ask, sweetheart?”
He watched as you fiddled with your intertwined fingers, and as the blush creeped up your neck. You smiled softly as you looked up at him, eyes blown wide with lust and wonder.
“Could you. . . Could you give it to me? Oral sex, I mean.”
Bradley could not think of a single sensible word in his head, so all he did was lean forward and kiss you until his mind could catch up. No girl had ever asked him to give them head, and not that he expected them to. He’d always ask the girl if she was okay with it before he settled between their legs, but he had never flat out been asked like this. And it made him want you all that much more. Bradley pulled back from the kiss and nodded, pecking your forehead.
“Yes. Yes, I can give you that,” Bradley said and you nodded like an eager child on Christmas, “Get comfy, baby. Do you want to stay here or go to my room?”
“Here, please,” You answered quickly. You hadn’t ever seen Bradley’s room before and for some reason, going to his room felt too. . . intimate. You weren’t ready for that step yet, so you let Bradley help you sit up so your back was resting against the back of the couch, and he could kneel in between your legs on the floor.
Bradley kissed you passionately, one of his hands tangling in your hair, while the other rested on your hip. You placed your hands on his shoulders and pulled him as close as he could get with the couch in the way. His hand on your hip slowly crept its way towards the front of your yoga pants. You knew that he could probably feel how wet you were through the thin material, but you couldn’t find it in you to care. You needed him. You needed him in a way you never needed a man before.
“You can stop me at any time,” Bradley murmured against your skin, as he pressed hot kisses to your neck, “Just pull my head back and I’ll stop.”
“What if I don’t want you to?” You asked and Bradley smirked.
“Then pull me in closer,” He whispered against your lips. A shiver ran down your spine as Bradley sat back on his heels, his fingers hooked into the top of your pants and pulled them down your legs. You knew that green was his favorite color, and you went out to buy a dark green pair of lace panties for the occasion, “Too good for me,” Bradley’s voice had an extra rasp to it, as his finger traced over the lace pattern covering your cunt, “All so cute and untouched. . . just for me.”
“Just for you. . .” He smirked as he could hear in your voice that you were holding back one small little word, but he’d let it go for now. You’d say it when you were comfortable enough to. And Bradley was dead set on getting you to say it.
Bradley leaned forward, so his head was resting between your parted thighs and placed a kiss on the wet spot on your panties. Having him so close to where you had dreamt about him being was like a headrush, and your hand went to his hair for support. Bradley chuckled as he placed another feather light kiss in the same spot, and nuzzled his nose against your cloth covered clit.
“Haven’t even gotten to the good part and you’re already gripping on for dear life,” He said and you felt your ears turn red, “It’s okay, sweet girl. I got you. I’m gonna take these off now, okay?”
“Okay, Bradley,” The sound of your voice was so innocent, and trusting. It filled Bradley with a sense of pride that you trusted him so much to be your first. He sore that it made him fall in love with you even more.
Ever so carefully he pulled the panties from your body, setting them gently next to your pants. He grabbed one of your ankles, placing a kiss on it before putting it over his shoulder. He leaned in closer to you again, grabbing your other leg and putting it on his shoulder. You looked up at the ceiling and gulped, then you felt his tongue on you. Your jaw dropped, a silent gasp leaving your mouth as your eyes fluttered shut, your hands in his hair. He licked a stripe from your opening to your clit, getting the taste of you on his tongue. He swirled his tongue around your opening several times, before finding your clit.
“Oh!” You moaned, as he sucked your clit into his mouth and then swirled his tongue around it. This felt better than you could’ve ever imagined it.
“Can I touch you?” Bradley asked, and you had to open your eyes and look down at him to focus on what he was talking about. Then you felt it, his finger gently rubbing against your folds, “It’s up to you. I can just use my-”
“Yes. . . Touch me,” You answered and Bradley nodded.
He briefly pulled his hands away from his core to stick his middle and ring fingers in his mouth to wet them, before he was placing his middle finger back on you.
“This might hurt, tell me if it’s too much,” You grabbed Bradley’s free hand and squeezed it, letting him know you understood.
His mouth was back on you, his tongue lapping at your clit, and you felt the feeling of his finger sliding into you. His finger was much larger than yours, and you felt a slight stretch but then it went away and pleasure filled your body. Now you were moaning, not trying to hide the sounds you were making as Bradley ate you out. Between the movement in and out of your core to the way his tongue sucked and swirled around your clit, you were in total bliss. Bradley was right, this was the most euphoric feeling ever.
“Christ! Bradley, I. . . Oh my god!” Your back arched as you felt that familiar feeling in your belly. The one that would always make you stop immediately and lay panting on your bed. Your legs began to shake as your stomach contracted, “Bradley, I-”
“It’s okay,” Bradley said, and kissed your thigh, “Feels good, doesn’t it?” You nodded, tears welling up in your eyes from the beautiful feeling, “Then let it happen. Just let me make you feel good. Just close your eyes and let it happen.”
You nodded and your eyes fluttered shut as he put his tongue back on you. You screwed your eyes shut tightly, and Bradley grabbed your hand, intertwining your fingers. He looked up at you right as the dam broke; your back arched off the couch, your mouth wide open in a silent moan, your legs shaking, nipples hard. It was an absolutely beautiful sight. He believed that you were painted by angels. He kept fingering you and lapping at your cunt as you rode out your high, hearing as the breath entered your lungs again. You very weakly pushed his head away, and Bradley sat back on his heels, his mouth glistening with your cum.
“I. . . I never let that happen,” You were still seeing spots in your vision, but it slowly started to feel like you were coming back down to the planet earth, “I always stop when I start to feel that. . . uh-”
“Orgasm?” Bradley asked, his hand was rubbing your bare thigh and you nodded, “Poor girl, you’ve been edging yourself for weeks. No wonder you came so hard.”
“Edging?”
Bradley chuckled and shook his head. He leaned up and placed a kiss on your lips, “My sweet girl. . . I have so much to teach you.”

Fries, Goodbyes & The Rest Of Our Lives
It’s been a week. It’s not even worth listing all the things that went wrong. The icing on the cake (presumably made with salt and not sugar - cause it's that kind of week) was your date canceled on you as you took a seat at a booth in the diner.
You sigh as the waitress comes to take your order, accepting that you’ve been stood up and decide you may as well eat since you’re already there.
“I’ll take a cheeseburger, side salad, no tomato, extra dressing, please.”
The elderly waitress smiles. It’s comforting and sweet. Her name tag says Pattie, and you imagine her grandkids get overly excited whenever Granny Pat visits. “You want the fries with that?”
You ponder for half a second before declining, “No thanks.”
“You sure, hun? They’re included in the price.”
You had dirty Cajun fries from the food cart outside the office at lunch. You know the diner’s fries won’t taste as good, besides you want to leave room for dessert, so you politely decline again.
“I’ll take them, Pattie!”
You twist in the booth to look over your shoulder and find the source. A handsome guy sitting at the bar, wearing a light yellow floral print shirt, smiles and gives a two-fingered wave. You’d clocked him when you’d entered. You’d caught his eye too, and he’d given you a broad smile. His mustache was a flashback to a decade or two ago, but he wore it well. He carried it with a sense of pride and confidence. It looked good on him. Anyone else, you’d have thought it was creepy.
“Hush now, boy,” Pattie scolds, but she’s smiling when she turns back to face you.
You chuckle, nodding toward him, “He’ll take the fries.”
Pattie takes your menu and disappears to the kitchen. You look at Mr. Mustache, who tips his beer bottle to you before bringing it to his lips.
You grab your phone and message the “No Scrubs” group.
You: Stood up again. Where you guys at?
Cole: At that navy bar I was telling you about. Come meet us.
You: I’ve just ordered dinner. Will see how I feel after.
You scroll social media while you wait. Pattie comes by a few times, brings cutlery and sauces, and refreshes your drink.
You hear the bell ring to signal an order’s ready, and your mouth waters when you see Pattie heading toward you. The burger looks delicious. The brioche bun glistens under the lights as the cheese melts over the edge onto the plate. It's so tall there’s a wooden skewer through the top to keep it in place, and the fries are fat and look perfectly crispy.
Pattie sets the plate down, “Enjoy, sweetheart,” and you swallow before drool slips out.
Just as you pull the skewer out of the burger, you hear, “Those are mine, remember.”
You laugh, twisting to look at him again. He’s got a cheerful smirk, but his brow is raised as if challenging you. “Why don’t you join me?” you offer.
He grabs his beer and twists off his stool. The smile remains while he saunters over, and you can’t take your eyes off him, admiring the sway of his hips. He’s confident in an almost bashful way. The open floral shirt shows a white shirt beneath it, and the contrast against his tanned skin looks as edible as your burger.
“Tell me,” he says, grabbing a fry and biting off the end. “What kind of psychopath doesn’t have fries with their burger?”
You shrug, “The same kind that offers to take a stranger's fries.”
“Touché,” he chuckles.
You laugh, explaining, “I had fries at lunch and want dessert.”
He nods as if now understanding your logic. “Ah, she’s got a sweet tooth.”
“I’ve heard that the chocolate malt here is the best in the state. I can’t pass that up,” you grin.
“Well, that is true,” he shrugs, popping another fry into his mouth. “Make or break question here, whipped cream on top of the shake?”
“I fear this will affect our budding friendship,” you tease, “but ab-so-lutely whipped cream on top of the shake. Among other places,” you wink.
His boldness flounders for half a second, recognizing he’s met his match, but he recovers quickly. Wetting his lips and giving a cheeky smile. “Are you flirting with me?”
“Depends.”
“On what?”
“I don’t see a ring, and you’re here alone. Are you single?”
“Yes.”
“Then yes, I’m definitely flirting with you.”
His smile widens and remains while the conversation flows and the two of you eat. Flirtations and laughter pass back and forth effortlessly.
Your phone chimes with another message, and you see the ‘No Scrubs’ group chat has two unread messages. You don’t want to be rude and pick it up to reply, but you know if you don’t, they’ll likely call to make sure you’re okay.
“Somewhere else you need to be?” he asks, a hint of disappointment in his voice that he attempts to hide behind a sip of beer.
“No, just some friends trying to get me to go meet them at some Navy bar.” You roll your eyes and type a quick ‘maybe’ before locking your phone, setting it face down on the table.
“Navy bar? The Hard Deck?” he questions, tilting his head to the side.
“I think that’s what Cole said. Do you know it?”
“That’s actually where I’m headed after. I could give you a ride. If you need one, that is.”
“I don’t even know your name.”
“It’s Bradley, but my friends call me Rooster.”
“Rooster?” you laugh. “Please tell me there’s a good story there.”
“There might be. I guess that depends on if you want to hear it.”
“How about you tell me on the way to the bar?”
Tumblr media
The open window lifts your hair slightly, and every time Rooster gets a hit of your perfume, he inhales deeply, savoring it.
He sticks to the speed limit, if not a little below it. He’s not quite ready to say goodbye to you. He’s never had such an instant, effortless connection with someone, and he wants to make it last as long as possible.
You’d laughed at the story about his name. You’d have never guessed that it was a nickname his uncle gave him when he was a kid. The radio is playing at a low volume, but as soon as the opening bars of Is This Love by White Snake start, you lean over and crank the volume as loud as it will go, singing along as if he isn’t there.
“Is this love that I'm feeling?” you sing, holding a pretend microphone. “Is this the love that I've been searching for? Is this love, or am I dreaming? This must be love. 'Cause, it's really got a hold on me. A hold on me.”
You can’t hold a tune, and your voice cracks a few times, but still, you belt it out with vigor, and Rooster thinks he may be falling in love. Did Pattie put something in those fries?
“Sorry,” you say, settling back into your seat, “that’s one of my favorites.”
It’s one of my favorites now too. But he doesn’t say it. Instead, he laughs, “I never would’ve guessed.”
“Are you not a car karaoke kinda guy?” you ask. “You seem like you like to sing along.”
“I’ve been known to hold a few car concerts,” he admits, “but I didn’t want to interrupt your flow.”
“Can you sing as good as me?”
He looks at you and sees the jesting expression. You know you can’t sing, and you don’t care one little bit.
“I’d love to serenade you,” he says, “but unfortunately, we’re here.”
“Some other time?” you ask, and he swears you sound hopeful.
Tumblr media
Rooster opens the Hard Deck door, and as soon as he hears the hustle and bustle from inside, he wishes he’d suggested you stay at the diner. Holding the door open, he gestures for you to enter first, and you smile a thanks as you pass by.
You stop a few feet inside, scanning the room as he stands beside you. This is the one time he hopes Hangman is being himself and has, by some miracle, coaxed your friends over to the group so Rooster has an excuse to keep talking to you.
“Those are my friends over there,” you say, dashing all his hopes as you point to the pool tables on the opposite side of the room.
“I’m over there,” Rooster says, pointing to where the Dagger squad is assembled.
“Thanks for the ride.”
“Thanks for the fries.”
“Anytime.”
“Enjoy the rest of your night.”
“You too.”
There’s a pause, neither of you knowing what to do. You rise to the tips of your toes, and he dips to let you place a gentle kiss on his cheek.
His cheeks quickly flush, hearing the jeers, shouts, and wolf whistles, but you drop back down with a laugh.
“Sorry,” he says. “They’re a bunch of idiots.”
He scolds himself for being an idiot as you walk away. He should invite you over or ask for your number, but he’s suddenly tongue-tied. He stares at you, frozen to the spot, long enough to see your friends turn to look at him as you settle into your seat.
Tumblr media
Throughout the night, flirtatious glances are passed back and forth, and smiles exchanged when they linger. Of course, it’s Hangman who notices the consequence of Rooster’s error.
“Looks like you lose again, Rooster,” the blond pilot remarks, a way too smug grin showing off his perfectly white teeth. “Too snug on that perch, and Harvard is gonna take your lady right out from under your beak.”
Rooster doesn’t care if it proves Hangman’s point. He looks directly at you. Harvard is whispering in your ear. You're smiling, but Rooster thinks it's more of a polite, courteous smile than genuine interest.
But it’s the kick he needs to take action. He looks to Phoenix, Bob, and Mickey, almost pleading, “I need your help.”
Phoenix nods once, Bob smiles, and Mickey asks, “What?”
“He wants to do the Goose move,” Phoenix explains without Bradley needing to tell her any more.
“What’s the Goose move?”
“It’s the move his Dad did to get his Mom,” Bob says.
“I don’t know what that is,” Mickey shrugs.
“Technically, we've been doing it for years,” Rooster says, “it’s just that this time, it involves my future wife.”
“So, no pressure,” Bob gulps.
“Relax. I’ve got a plan,” Phoenix winks, gesturing for the three guys to come closer.
Tumblr media
Harvard doesn’t seem all that smart, and you wonder if it's an ironic nickname or callsign, as Rooster had explained. Harvard certainly doesn’t understand body language. You’ve tried, unsuccessfully, to put some distance between you three times. The third time he slides his arm around your shoulders.
Before you can shrug, his arm slips off, and suddenly, a pretty brunette woman is in his place. “Hi,” she says brightly, her back to a flustered-looking Harvard. “I’m Phoenix, and this is Fanboy. We’re friends with Rooster.”
Butterflies dance in your stomach. Before she can say anymore or you have a chance to wonder why he’s sent his friends to rescue you, the jukebox cuts off, and a collective groan echoes around the room.
“That was supposed to happen,” Phoenix smiles. Fanboy is speaking quietly to Harvard, and he doesn’t seem happy about whatever is being said, but you're grateful for the interruption.
There’s a soft twinkling from a piano somewhere in the room, and after a few more notes, you find the source. Phoenix continues, “That’s Bob, and you’ve met Rooster.”
Your eyes drift up from the piano player and land on Bradley, fingers tapping the wooden top, while Bob continues to find the right melody.
Rooster’s eyes are locked on you, a shy smirk lifting the corner of his mustache.
“Thanks for the save,” you say to Phoenix but keep your eyes on Rooster.
“Well, it wasn’t the actual intention, but Harvard can be a bit…” she trails off.
“Thick?”
“That’s a good word for him,” she laughs.
The bright random notes turn into a clear, rich melody that flows through the room moments before the smooth baritone of Rooster’s voice fills the air. “You’re just too good to be true. Can’t take my eyes off of you.”
Damn, he can sing!
Taking the lyrics literally, he doesn’t avert his eyes while he serenades you. You feel Phoenix’s hand at your elbow, but you can’t look away from the gorgeous man belting out a song just for you. Only when he draws closer do you realize she’s guiding you to him.
The bar is packed, and the crowd gathers around the piano, but somehow Rooster is always in your line of sight, and then Fanboy is in front of you, splitting the crowd to let you through.
It feels surreal but magical when somehow there’s a clear path straight to Rooster. It looks like an aisle leading to an altar, and the man that awaits you has been sent from the heavens because he’s gorgeous, kind, funny, and clearly has a talent for commanding a room. You wonder what else you could uncover, given some time.
“At long last, love has arrived,” Rooster sings as you reach his side. Phoenix slips away as you reach for Bradley’s outstretched hand.
Definitely an altar, and you’ll happily worship here for eternity. Interlocking your fingers with his, he pulls you against him. “Now that I found you, stay,” it’s more than a song, it's a question, and you nod.
Slowly, he inches closer, and the crowd takes over, singing the chorus, when his lips connect with yours and the world melts away.

you got that little lovin’ feelin’ || bradley “rooster” bradshaw
summary: he'll always be there for you when you need him most. only because he's obligated to, though. not because he truly cares about you...right? unless...
words: ~900
warnings: none, just a bit of angst
a/n: saw top gun: maverick last night and holy fucking shit. the movie completely blew me out of the water. and now i have millions of fic ideas running through my head, so if you want to be added to the taglist please lmk. also this is for you @fanatic1997 i thought you might like it :)
Tumblr media
It’s 2:00am, and you don’t know where you’re going. On a typical night you’d show up at your dad’s door unannounced, but you felt that you’d done so enough times already. Both Maverick and his bike needed some breaks, too. The world was tilting sideways, and you could hardly see straight as you plugged your keys into the ignition.
Letting out a shuddering sigh, you pulled into Rooster’s driveway and pressed the doorbell. Hopefully, he wouldn’t slam the door in your face.
He answered within seconds.
The scowl that usually graced his features upon seeing you immediately softened. Seeing the teartracks that stained your cheeks sent a pang through his chest.
You swallowed hard and looked away, picking at your nails. “I didn’t know where else to go. I don’t want to be alone.”
Rooster gently took ahold of your wrist, pulling you into his arms and resting his chin atop your head. The gentle movement of his hand up and down your back seems to calm you down a bit.
He doesn't ask any questions, nor do you give him any answers to why you showed up at his doorstep in tears. But he opens the door all the way, and brings you inside regardless.
He’s silent as he places a kettle of tea on the stove and pulls out a small plate. He pauses a few times to glance back at you, sitting on the floor against the couch. You take note of how gentle he looks in this moment. It’s quite a sharp contrast to the rather competitive persona that he enveloped up in the air.
He approaches you with a tray holding two cups of tea, setting them down on the coffee table. "Thought you'd be thirsty. Rough day out there."
"Thanks," you mumbled, eyes still bloodshot. You took a long sip of tea, ignoring how it burned your throat as it went down.
"Are you cold?" You shook your head in response despite how you were, in fact, trembling. You kept your arms wrapped around yourself in a futile attempt to stay warm.
"I'm fine," you lied.
"I'll get you some extra layers and turn on the thermostat." Rooster stands up and walks away before you have a chance to protest.
Seconds later he returns with a thick bundle in his hands, and he drapes it over your shoulders—his leather jacket. You're grateful for the extra warmth and wrap it tighter around your body.
"Y/N, you look exhausted." He’d never referred to you by your first name up until now—and the sound sent a pleasant tingle down your spine. "I don’t know what's going on in that little head of yours that makes you think your current sleep schedule is okay. You need to rest more."
"I'm alright."
"Bullshit."
"Stop pretending like you're concerned for my wellbeing, Bradshaw," you rolled your eyes.
"You showed up here in the dead of night looking like you went through hell and back. I think that's good enough of a reason for me to care." You feel annoyed at this, but heat rises up your face at the idea of Rooster, out of all people, worrying about you. "And because you're being stubborn as hell and refusing to tell me what's wrong, I can't be as much help as I want to."
You both fell into an awkward silence at his last statement. He cared, far more than he wanted to admit.
“I told you, I’m fine.”
“Poor Bob said he had to catch you because you slipped backwards and almost hit your head.” His brow raised in suspicion.
“I slipped on vodka. That was one drinking mishap.”
Rooster sits down across from you and lets out a long sigh. He brings a calloused hand up to your cheek and wipes the tears under your eyes with his thumb. “Sweetheart.”
You involuntarily tense at the nickname. It wasn’t like he’d called you it before—normally, it was used as a way to ruffle your feathers and poke fun at you up in the air. It worked every damn time. Unfortunately well. So unfortunately well that Hangman…and Phoenix…and Fanboy all together…had to physically restrain you from castrating him…twice. But this time, there’s no aggression or harsh lines etched onto his face along with the word, and your heart skips a beat.
Heaven’s sake, it was so goddamn easy to fall into him and you hated him, and yourself, for it so much.
“Why are you doing this?” Your voice comes out cracked and hoarse, and you wince slightly. “You’re not supposed to…be taking care of me.”
“I told your old man that I would. When he’s busy…of course. What else do you think I’m here for?” he shrugged.
You close your eyes, inhaling the overwhelming scent of cologne on his jacket. It brings you just a little extra bit of peace. “Well, maybe I’ll hate you a little less now. Starting tomorrow.”
“Come on. Don’t you think that’s too late?” Rooster cracks a small smile at the joke. “Can’t hold your grudges forever.”
“I’m being a good negotiator here, flyboy,” you couldn’t help but smile back. “Tomorrow, take it or leave it.”
“Tomorrow it is.”
You sit there in comfortable silence. You’re not sure when he moves over to sit right next to you and put his arm around you, but you don’t bother pushing him off. It feels good, anyway.
Your head falls against his shoulder, and suddenly, you don’t feel so alone anymore.

Tears were streaming down your face, your hands were trembling. Searching for Bradley's number in your contact list has never been this difficult.
Your fingers slid across parts of the screen you didn't want to touch, making your frustration even worse.
The phone line rang at a deafening volume. Once, twice, three times until it goes to voicemail.
His stupid voicemail.
"Hi,its me Bradley. Please drop your message!"
Taking this as a sign, you chose not to try again.
After all, talking to Bradley about it right now would only make him worry for nothing, considering he was busy on deployment and miles away from you. He was about to return this week.
It wasn't something he could solve. Maybe it was but not right now.
Within a few minutes your phone rang. As his name popped up on the screen, a heart emoji next to it and his photo of him grinning stupidly, you felt terrible for doing this to him.
Not only did you let down your own dreams, you were about to let down his too.
You replied, remaining silent. You expected your voice to sound like a lump in your throat.
"Baby, are you there? I couldn't get to the phone in time at first."
You were motionless, your lack of words showed him that. "I'm fine", giving yourself some time, you suddenly started to feel everything you didn't feel until you got home.
"I was at the doctor's today."
"Why are you talking like it's the end of the world? Are you okay?"
Throughout his breathing, it was easy to imagine him even stopping whatever he was doing to pay better attention to you; Not because it wasn't there before. You should have called Penny or someone, they would know how to take care of you.
"Wait, is it about babies? Tell me you're joking," he finished with a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. You could imagine and hear it perfectly.
In the past, when you received good news, you would pretend that something bad was coming, now it's just another thing you regret doing.
You were selfish for talking to him, he was so far away; You could talk to him about it when he got home.
Talking and doing this and that now would cause him more anxiety than he ever had in his hectic daily tour life. Still, he was the only one you needed.
"No, quite the opposite."
The call suffered a long pause, filled with his deep sighs and persistent tears streaming down his cheeks.
You didn't let a single tear fall until you got home, but did you verbalize it? Putting it into words made things different; it felt more real.
"Fuck," he mumbled, clearly a little out of place.
“I can't have kids, Bradley,” your words were interrupted by the growl you were trying to hold back.
He could tell when you were talking to him that everything hit you at once. Over the years, he was able to recognize even small details.
''I'm the reason we tried and it never worked. I cursed it."
"No, baby," he took a deep breath. "Please don't blame yourself. You know it's not your fault." You ran your fingers desperately through your hair; This is what it must be like to feel useless on the phone. Just what you imagined before you made the call. It was bad to announce this to him. "Are you alone? I can ask someone to check on you. They’ll do that, okay?
“Please,” You didn't want to spend the rest of the day by yourself. Also, even though you didn't want to talk to anyone but Bradley, you knew Penny would understand you better, she knew how to make you feel less bad, it would be nice to be around her. And once she mentioned she went through something like that so maybe she would understand you.
Being alone with your harsh thoughts will not be a good option anyway. "I thought about calling her, but I finally gave up, I didn't know what to do, I still don't. Calling you still doesn't seem like a good idea, but I didn't know what to do."
Your weak voice was killing Bradley. If it made him sad to hear that, he couldn't imagine what it was like for you.
"You did great, baby, this is a tough situation but we're on this journey together. You can ask for anything baby, remember?" He smiled, a muffled smile came over the line; It made you feel a little better.
"We can still have children, you know that."
You wanted to tell him that what works for others may not work for you, that your condition may not be that malleable because your condition is genetic. Still, you didn't know if they were true or not, all your thoughts might just be the result of your momentary frustration, but they might also be true.
You need to talk to Bradley about this, everything that's going on in his mind. You didn't want to do this over the phone anymore.
“We can try,” you sniffled, still avoiding the tears you didn't even know were falling. "We can try." You repeated, trying to convince yourself.
"Talk to me, baby. Try to distract yourself a bit, huh? Please. Do you want me to turn the call off? Maybe you can take a long bath with your favorite bubbles or eat something different. That might help."
Even though it sounded wrong, his desperation to help you was adorable. Talking to him made everything perfect, his voice was soothing, you could hear him talking for hours. Now it was no different.
“I just want to hear your voice,” you said, lying on the cold floor of the main room. It would be nice to sleep. It seemed reasonable to forget the previous hours for a few minutes. "You are busy?"
"Not exactly."
"Then tell me how the mission went."
His voice sounded flatter and softer, you could imagine how uneasy he was even from the phone, it was possible to imagine him striding around the room with the phone in his hand. He talked about the mission details the night before. The contrast of how you described your previous day with what happened at the right moment was painful, happy and suddenly you were breaking it.
Everyone knew that Bradley dreamed of having kids, that kids were running around the house and so were you, you wanted to have kids with him even more but with you he would never have one.
"Can I say something?" You asked, taking a deep breath, cutting through his words. "I love you,I love you so much."
Everything was unfair, you both tried so hard. He, too, had become weak from trying, just like you.
"I love you too, baby. This," you could see him in your mind, pausing and gesturing with his hands, "this won't change anything, okay? I still love you so much as the day i fell in love with you."
"We are on this journey together."
"We are on this journey together.”
—-----
Your body trembled.
A cold hand was wandering around your waist as you slowly opened your eyes, feeling a ridiculous headache fill your vision. Your eyes found Bradley crouched on the ground in front of you, and he looked good compared to you. His eye bags were not purple from the 4 hour sleep he was getting,or his hair wasn't messy after the cold, rainy and windy weather out there.
"What are you doing here?" You frowned. Bradley chuckled as you laid your head down once the headache made you feel like you were going to throw up. He could answer your question but you were flattered, he wouldn't think you noticed he was there because he knew you needed him.
So he ignored it, helping you get up.
"Come on, get up. It's cold on the floor, I'll put you to bed." He tried to get you to stand up for him - he failed; but you shifted your weight onto his body, wrapping your arms around his neck, which he found worriedly cute.
“I need you,” you whispered, drunk and sleepy, burying your face in his coat. Let its scent warm you. He smelled amazing.
It was a relief to hear him say that. He didn't want to get into an argument about how it would affect his job in the near future, as you had fought before for the same reason. "I know my baby." He kissed your hair, hugged your waist, and carried you to your room. “She wants to lay down with me.”
He laid you down on the bed, doing the same as he lay on your side, face up and facing the white ceiling.
They both knew it was necessary to speak, but neither knew who should speak first or what they should speak about.
You ran your fingers over his stomach, placing your palm under his shirt, warming his cold hand with your body. You moved closer to his body, nestling into his side as he wrapped his arm around you.
"Tell me, what's on your mind?" He said without looking directly at you.
"There's a lot", your mere words made his throat dry. “It's weird knowing your body can't do what it's supposed to do, especially when you want it to,” you gasped through sobs, his grip pulling you closer to his chest for comfort. "I'm afraid you'll stay with me and a few years from now you'll realize you made the wrong choice." These words hurt him. It hurt him so much to see you blaming yourself.
He hugged you even tighter and asked you to look at him. "I'm not going to leave you, okay? I'm in love with you. That won't change, and it's not your fault. We can try IVF as if it will work, and it's worked for a few people, and we'll have a happy and healthy baby. We have the money for it. If the money I make as a pilot isn't enough, i can even find a part-time job. I can enter just for you, I'm married to you and I love you so much, why should I leave you?"
There were tears in your eyes and you hoped he was right. "What if it doesn't work? If my body miscarries? If we try and never succeed? I don't know if I'm ready to try again-"
Before you finished your sentence, he grabbed your cheek and gave you a messy kiss. He was far from okay, he was desperate, you didn't know how to decipher whether he was trying to silence you or show his emotions. The salty taste of your tears accompanied by the burning in his throat didn't help at all.
You put your hand on his chest and stop him. He was in distress, he probably wanted to stop you with a waterfall of negative thoughts but he didn't know how.
“I don't want to try, I just don't know what to do yet, and it's killing me right now.” You were complaining.
He kissed your forehead and let you lie down.
"We will find a way. It's still new, we can think better or find other ways. Adoption is also a good option, but of course if everything happens at the right time."
You stayed silent for a while, imagining a parallel where Bradley was right and things worked out. Although you were still not convinced by this, you agreed with him. After all, there would be no other way, and you still wanted to have children.
“Adoption sounds good,” you mumbled against his chest. You hadn't thought about it yet, it hadn't even crossed your mind. “There is no risk and there is no way we can go wrong.”
You felt relieved that he was there for you, guiding you to feel better about this.
"You see?" he asked with what looked like a weak smile. "We'll find a way because I don't plan on having kids with anyone but you, so it has to be with you. Whether you like it or not." He joked, drawing a smile from you as he touched your nose with a wet kiss.
It was incredible how he managed to make even the most difficult moments seem lighter.
"Good, because I still want to have your stupid kids.”

My Brother's Wingman 18+
Request: Ok... I debated with myself, but... I'm gonna be a selfish bitch now and some idea in as a Bday present for me (even if its still coming on friday) and I hope you dont mind <3
So I'd have MAJOR Rooster feels, you cant imagine! Thats why I thought about something with him, where she's Jake's sister and they have some kind of secret affair, as Bradley is slightly scared of what would happen if Jake finds out. Soo they sneak around for some time until one day you're both at Mavs hangar working on a plane (while he's gone with Penny and let's you over) and you get really turned on by Bradley being sweaty and covered in dirt, soo you somehow end up sleeping there together but later Jake comes there as he was looking for Bradley and catches you both, so you have to explain everything and Bradley fears the worst. Luckily Jakes cant do much against true love and finds his peace with it ?
Omg does that makes sense? I'm also so so sorry it's gotten so long :O
Pairings: Bradley Bradshaw x Seresin!Navy SEAL!Reader, Jake Seresin x Navy SEAL!Twin Sister!Reader
Warnings: fluff, smut
A/N: Happy belated birthday to the anon that sent this in and I'm sorry that it is late. I hope you enjoy! Also @talesofreading and @imagine-all-the-fandoms prepare yourselves it gets steamy!
Tumblr media
Jake Seresin had a twin sister, you, that was almost a female version of him but could bring him down back to earth when he got too high and mighty. You both knew how to push each other’s buttons and you both did it out of love even if it seemed like you both were harsh to each other. You were a Navy SEAL and loved it, you really thought about becoming a pilot like your brother but you loved being on the ground more and plus you got to deal with guns and more combat.
You had been stationed at Naval Amphibious Base, in Coronado which was only 28 minutes away from where your brother was stationed now. Occasionally you would go down and visit him and go to a bar called The Hard Deck and have a few drinks with him and his new squad and you liked them all but one in particular caught your eye. When you saw him, he always had a Hawaiian shirt on with a white shirt underneath and form fitting jeans that hugged him everywhere and in all the right places, he also had this mustache that you could only imagine all the pleasure that it could bring you. It seemed like you had caught his eye too because he had been looking at you nonstop and you would only know this because you had been looking at him nonstop as well and throwing your signature Seresin smirk his way.
——————————————————————
You had just arrived at The Hard Deck after your brother practically begged you to come and you finally broke down and said yes. You had just gotten back from a deployment and were more than eager to blow off some steam. You walked into the bar and looked around to find it filled with civilians, aviators, and tag chasers. You hadn’t come in your uniform because you didn’t want to be in it any longer even though you absolutely loved being in it but not at this moment. You immediately saw the blond haired, cocky, and full of himself aviator that was your brother. You walked over to him and pulled the pool stick from his grasp and took the shot yourself and sunk the ball and you smirked as you came up. “Hello, sister.” He said and you turned around to him.
“Why hello there, little brother.” You said he rolled his eyes.
“By one minute.” He said but pulled you in a hug and then you pulled away and looked at everyone who was silent and stunned.
“Aren’t you gonna introduce your sister to us, Hangman?” A guy a Hawaiian shirt and a mustache said and when you said that he looked good, he really looked good enough that you wanted to pull him inside the bathroom and do him right then and there. He had yet taken his eyes off you and you and you didn’t mind at all.
“Rooster this is my twin sister-“ Jake began
“Older sister.” You said smirking and looking at him for a second and then your eyes were back on Bradley and again he rolled his eyes.
“By one minute. As I was saying this is my twin sister, Y/N ‘Bullseye’ Seresin. She’s a Navy SEAL and off limits to anyone.” He said and you rolled your eyes.
“Well Y/N it is a pleasure to finally meet you. I’m Bradley Bradshaw.” Bradley said and sent a smirk of his own. Everyone went around and introduced him themselves with their names and their callsigns. You also learned that he was your brother’s wingman.
“Bullseye. How did you get that name?” Bob asked and you smiled at him.
“It’s because I never miss my target that I’m aiming at.” You said and Bradley could’ve sworn he was falling more in love and that his jeans were becoming a little tight. “I’m gonna get something to drink. Anybody want anything?” You asked and they nodded and told you what they wanted as you were walking up to the bar Bradley stopped you by the wrist.
“I’ll help you.” He said and when you looked over to your brother, he had this look on his face but you just smirked and dismissed it and headed to the bar with Bradley. You arrived there and Bradley flagged down what looked like to be the owner. She walked over and smiled.
“I haven’t seen you around before. I’m Penny.” She said and smiled a sweet smile that reminded you of a mother.
“I’m Y/N Seresin I’m visiting my brother.” You said and smiled and she nodded letting you know that she knew him.
“Ahhh so you’re her. He’s told us a lot about you.” She said
“All good things. I hope.” You said and she nodded.
“What can I get you two?” She asked
“Another round for the group and whatever she is having.” He pointed to you.
“I’ll take what my idiotic brother is having and put it on his tab.” You said and she nodded and chuckled and got to work.
“So how long have you been a SEAL?” He asked you and you turned to look at him.
“For as long as Jake has been an aviator. We went into the academy together and then we split paths but still stayed in touch with each other.” You said and he nodded
“Have you always wanted to be in the Navy SEAL?” He asked and you nodded.
“Yea I have. Mostly to get under my parent’s skin but it really spoke to me.” You said and he nodded and about that time Penny came back with the drinks and then you walked back over to the group and they took their drinks. The rest of the night was filled with drinking and getting to know each other and getting the chance to knock Jake down a peg and embarrass the shit out of him which you did with a smirk. After the embarrass the shit of your brother came to an end and everyone went to their other activities you slipped outside to grab some fresh air and look out over the ocean. You weren’t out there long when you felt someone slide up next to you. You turned and looked at the person and saw that it was Bradley and you smiled.
“Needed a break?” He asked and you nodded
“Yea, it was getting a little hot in there.” You told him you both looked at each other for a minute and then you both were leaning in until your lips touched and the sparks flew. You pulled away when air was needed.
“I really like you.” He said and you smirked.
“I really like you too.” You said and then you both leaned back in and the rest was history.
——————————————————————
You and Bradley had been dating for 3 years and somehow managed to keep it a secret from your brother, and that was amazing because you were either there in San Diego on the weekends and would visit your brother or Bradley was at your place in Coronado. It had been your weekend to stay over at Bradley’s, he told you that he was going to be staying at Maverick’s, you had met him during your time visiting your brother and now boyfriend and you both really hit it off, hangar so he could work on a plane that he and Bradley had started to restore. You and Bradley have agreed to meet at his home and then he would drive to the hanger in his Bronco and grab some food on the way there. You both had just arrived at the hangar and after some making out you both got out and headed into the building it was late when you got there so you both figured you would eat and then he would work on the plane while you watched.
The next morning you both slept in but not for long because of your guys’ internal alarm clock and you both were up and heading out of the trailer. Bradley made you breakfast and as you both at cuddled up to each other you both enjoyed the comfort of each other. “Have you thought about telling my brother?” You asked him as you both had finished eating and you put your plates on the table in front of you.
“I’ve thought about it but scared about his reaction.” He said and you nodded “You?” He asked.
“I thought about it but I like keeping it a secret. He knows I’m seeing someone but he doesn’t know who and it’s driving him insane and I love it.” You said looking up at him and chuckled.
“I have to admit it is fun. He also knows I’m seeing someone but doesn’t know who.” He said and you chuckled. You both talked for a little bit and then you sat back and watched him work the plane and looked at the pictures and other things around the hangar. Every now and then you would look over and watch the muscles in Bradley’s back flex and it was slowly turning you on. He would occasionally turn around and look at you and you could see the dirt and grease smeared across his forehead and the sweat that was covering his forehead. You bit your lip as he turned back around and continued to work. You pressed your thighs together just thinking about him taking you right then and there all sweaty. It wasn’t long until you couldn’t take it anymore and slowly made your way to him and slid your hands up his back feeling his muscles work and then around his waist. He stopped what he was doing and turned his head where you captured his lips into a fiery passionate kiss, he brought his arms down and turned around dropping the tool he had in his hand neither of you caring. He brought his hands to your waist and slowly backed you up until you hit the shelf.
You looped your finger through his belt loops and tugged him closer enough to feel his erection through his form fitting jeans. He licked your bottom lip and you opened your mouth and his tongue slid into your mouth and your tongues battled for dominance until his won. You only pulled away when air was needed. Bradley’s pupils were blown with lust to the point where his irises weren’t visible. “You’re so sexy.” You said and that seemed to do something within him because he was attacking your neck in and you allowed him access he sucked and bit to the point you knew there was going to be hickeys. He trailed his hands down to the back of your thighs and patted them lightly signaling you to jump and you did so. This wasn’t the first time you both had sex together and each time you did so it felt like the first time and it was always so fiery and passionate but rough at the same time and you loved it and so did he.
Bradley walked towards the trailer and blindly opened it and then walked to the bed and then gently threw you onto you which made you squeal but then he climbed up and attacked your neck again which made you moan. “Bradley.” You moaned out and he slightly rubbed his clothed erection on your clothed core and you moaned again. He let up and smirked and you looked at him with a raised eyebrow.
“I love it when you moan my name.” He said and then he was quick to shed his clothing and then he helped you get rid of yours until both were naked in front of reach other “Absolutely beautiful.” He said and your thighs clenched together around nothing. He brought his hand up to your soaked core and ran a finger up and down your folds “So wet for me.” He said and you nodded and moaned.
“You’re the only one.” You said and moaned when he slipped a finger in and rubbed your clit at the same time. Once he felt like you were ready, he pulled out and you whimpered at the loss of contact. You didn’t have to wait long until you felt him slide his erect cock up and down and then you both moaned as he slid into you. Your hands went his shoulders and dug your blunt nails into his shoulder blades as he set a slow and steady space. He put all of his weight on his elbows and continued a slow and stead pace. “Faster.” You moaned out and he did as you asked and picked up his pace.
“So tight. Always so tight when I fuck into you.” He said and moaned out he hit all right places and knew exactly where to hit to find your g-spot and when he did you felt the rubber band in your stomach tighten.
“Bradley, so close.” You said and he nodded.
“Hang on baby.” He said as he picked up his pace he started to sweat more and you had started to sweat as well. His thrusting was starting to get sloppy. “I’m close, baby. Cum with me.” He said and then he changed his angle to thrust deeper in you and that what made you come undone and you came hard as he came painting your walls white. He stayed put catching his breath while you caught yours. He slowly slid out of you and then laid beside you.
“That was perfect. Just like all the other times.” You said and turned your head to him and kissed him.
“You’re perfect.” He spoke. Both of you laid there for a few minutes and cuddled until your stomach growled and you both laughed. “I’ll go and get some dinner started.” He said and you nodded and laid there basking in the after sex high. Once you felt like you could walk you got up and put on your jeans and his shirt. You joined him and watched him cook and when he was done, he handed you your plate and then he sat down beside you on the couch that Maverick put in not that long ago and you both ate dinner and then headed to bed. Bradley closed the hangar up making sure everything was secure and pulled The Bronco inside. The both of you headed inside of the trailer and headed to bed.
The next morning you woke up after Bradley and your hand went to his side but you felt it was empty but still warm this confused you but you didn’t have a long time to be confused because you heard what sounded like your brother’s voice.
“Hey, Rooster! Maverick told me you were going to be here.” The voice said
“What’s up?” Bradley asked
“I needed the plans for the new Top Gun class that’s coming in on Monday.” He said
“Yea, they’re in The Bronco. I was gonna work on them this weekend but got distracted.” He said and they both headed to the car and that is when you decided to make your presence known. You got up and luckily was still dressed and walked out of the trailer.
“Jake?” You asked and he turned around not expecting someone else to be there as you walked closer to him.
“Y/N/N?” He asked and then Bradley turned around wide eyed. “What are you doing here?” He asked and you didn’t speak but then he turned to Bradley and he had a look of a deer caught in headlights. Jake went back and forth from you to him and then he took in your clothing. “Is that Bradshaw’s shirt?” He asked and again he got no answer.
“Jake.” You began “We can explain.” You said and he nodded and then you looked at Bradley and walked over to him and stood next to him and Jake turned to look at you both. “We’ve been together for 3 years. We both had fallen in love with each other 3 years ago when I met you down at The Hard Deck.” You said expecting him to be mad and lash out as you leaned into Bradley and he put an arm around you but he didn’t.
“I’m not mad.” He said and you made a face of shock and so did Bradley.
“You’re not?” You asked and he shook his head.
“No. I’m surprised you kept it a secret this long but I can’t be mad at true love.” He said and both you and Bradley sighed in relief “Besides I had my suspicions especially since Rooster kept disappearing every other weekend up close to your base and when you came down here to supposedly see me.” He said with a smirk “I’m happy for the both of you and I’m happy it was Rooster that you had fallen in love with.” He said.
“That means so much to us.” Bradley said and you nodded.
“Now those plans.” Jake said and Bradley nodded and grabbed them and the three of you headed over to the table and couch and you sat quietly thinking as they worked. You smiled watching the two people you love work together and get along, any other boyfriend would’ve only lasted a week around Jake but he was just being protective of his twin sister. You were just happy to finally have someone that loved you just as equally and maybe a little bit more than your brother. You knew everything was going to be fine and nothing in the world could split you apart from the two men you loved and held so close to your heart.

Call Him Daddy (18+)
Tumblr media
This one’s short and sweet - trying to bust a writing slump. I could very easily do a part two if there’s interest! Smut ahead :)
Title: Call Him Daddy Bradley’s been waiting for this day for years, but now, you’ve given him the green light. WC: 2187
The first sign of consciousness was soreness. Before you’d even popped your eyes open that morning, you felt the sublime ache between your legs, and oddly, your breasts.
There was no one to blame but your husband, Bradley. Who’d been awake for about half an hour or so, but hadn’t left the confines of your 500-thread-count sheets.
Bradley was on cloud nine because you were officially trying. After he’d been wishing and hoping and being patient for years, you’d finally had the conversation last night. You’d been married for four years after three years of dating and now, you were comfortable with the thought of tackling parenthood with Bradley.
“Babe? Are we out of mayo?” Bradley had called from the kitchen. You’d assembled a nice little table of accouterments, potato salad and chips as he’d grilled burgers for dinner and you were poised to eat out in the backyard.
Bradley, along with the help of a few of his squadron teammates, had finished the fence in the backyard last week and you were now able to enjoy the outdoor space with just a little more privacy.
“It’s on the door!” You called back, excited, nervous energy zipping through your veins. Tonight you were telling Bradley you’d gotten your IUD removed. Your IUD, which he saw as his mortal enemy.
The truth was, Bradley would have been thrilled if you’d gone off your birth control when you’d gotten married four years earlier. He always thought there was something romantic – traditional – about a honeymoon baby. Hell, he would’ve been more than happy if you’d gotten pregnant before you’d tied the knot.
There were few things in this life he wanted more than to be a dad and have a big family. As someone who grew up with so little, the idea of a full house felt like a dream. You had always known about Bradley’s wishes to be a father, and he was understanding that while it was something you wanted to do, be a mother, you wanted to check a few things off your list first.
You wanted to get married, do some traveling, establish a little more financial security and enjoy life with just you and Bradley for a few years. You loved everything about being a pair – Christmas mornings, vacations, nights out with friends – those would all change with a baby. Certainly for the better, but it would be different, and you’d never get that time as just the two of you again.
You’d spent six weeks backpacking through Europe in the fall, and since then, you’d slowly and quietly been making preparations to transition to a family of three.
And tonight, you’d finally tell Bradley.
“Baby, it all looks wonderful,” you smiled as he sat down, placing a big bowl of watermelon, along with a jar of mayonnaise on the table. “Love when you grill,” you leaned over your bistro table to kiss his cheek.
“Thanks Babe,” he grinned, not flinching as you snagged the sunglasses from the collar of his T-shirt and dropped them over your eyes. You’d chatted about the day – your work day was quiet and Bradley was bringing in a special detachment for training over the next eight weeks. Most of all, you enjoyed the gentle breeze and scent of the neighbors’ lilacs.
“I was thinking…” you began, earning a deadpan look from your husband. Anytime you started ‘thinking’ usually ended up in a new project for him. “Now that the fence is up, could we plant some flowers over in that corner there?” You gestured to the far left side of the yard. A simple request.
“Yeah, we can do that pretty easy,” he agreed. “Maybe some bushes in the other, we can mulch around,” he laid out with his hands, pausing to take a big bite of his now assembled burger.
“Mm, I don’t think that corner,” you shook your head, “I want to keep that back wall of the yard clear,” you stabbed a piece of watermelon before taking a bite.
“Okay, maybe back along the right side,” he trailed a finger along the fence line. “Maybe a bonfire pit?” He suggested.
“Oh definitely not,” you shook your head, nibbling away at your dinner.
“Okay – how about a Jacuzzi?” He suggested. “Now that we have the fence, we don’t need to worry about bathing suits,” he grinned, and while it was a great deal of work not to grin back, you somehow managed.
“Nah, I just don’t think we’d get much use out if it,” you shrugged.
“Baby – nothing along the back side, no bonfire pit, no Jacuzzi – what did we fence this yard in for?” He asked, laughing as he polished off his first burger. It was not out of the ordinary for Bradley to put away three or for burgers on a grill night. You wiped your mouth with a napkin, crossing your legs before taking off his sunglasses.
“Know what I’m thinking?” You asked, taking a final sip of your iced tea. “I’m thinking… swing set along the back there – it’s the perfect view from the kitchen,” Bradley set his fork down. “And a bonfire pit will be fun eventually, but little feet running around the backyard make me anxious… and the Jacuzzi – you know I’d love to take a skinny dip with you, but… it’s just not good for pregnant people, I already Googled it.”
Bradley’s brain short-circuited for a moment.
“And how,” he paused to clear his throat,” how long until we need to start worrying about that?”
“Well I just got my IUD out last week, but my doctor said I can get pregnant in my first cycle,” you dragged your fingertip around the rim of your drinking glass. “Not everyone does, but you’ve always been an overachiever,” you said, meeting his gaze.
“Now? We – now?” Bradley asked, sputtering, patting all over his chest and shorts like he’d misplaced his phone.
“Now,” you nodded, barely getting a moment to gauge his reaction before he was out of his seat, shoulder pressing into your midsection as he hoisted you over his shoulder.
You were sure your neighbors heard the terrified scream that morphed into giggles as he all but kicked the back door in.
“Now?” He said to himself in disbelief, suddenly forgetting the layout of his own home, twisting around in circles to find the staircase. “I can’t believe this, I didn’t do anything to prepare!” He said, not even registering that you were swinging around over his shoulder.
“And what exactly would you have done to prepare?” You asked, wondering if squirrels would completely demolish the spread that laid out on the patio table.
“I don’t know, but I would have done something,” he insisted, taking the stairs by two and only mildly terrifying you.
“Oh my God,” he mumbled, setting you down on the mattress gingerly and immediately reaching for the non-existent fly on his shorts, which were held up on a drawstring. His brain, completely scrambled, was not cooperating and he hastily grabbed the waistband and ripped the shorts down his legs.
God you loved his pale thighs.
“Bradley, you don’t need to hurry!” You laughed.
“Of course I do,” he insisted, kneeling on the bed with one leg between yours, getting to work right away on your button-fly shorts. “I want ‘em all, baby,” he insisted. “Boys, girls – lots of ‘em – and I want ‘em now.”
“I thought we said three max?” You asked, peeling off your own top as he made busywork of your panties.
“Three to start,” he elaborated, “fuck I don’t care.” He shook his head. Pausing, he crawled up to meet you at eye-level. “I love you so much,” he said sincerely. “I can’t wait to be a Dad,” he added, “but more than that, I can’t wait to see you be Mom.” You leaned up to kiss him gently, the same mustache you’d been in love with for years tickling you softly. “You’re sure?” he asked, brows furrowing with just a bit of concern.
“I’ve never been so sure about anything,” you replied, pushing your fingers through his hair. “Thank you for being so patient with me,” you added, “it means more than you know.” Bradley, at the risk of getting choked up, simply kissed you once more before pressing his forehead against yours.
“If I get emotional right now I won’t be able to get hard,” he said honestly, making you giggle.
“You’re going to be such a good Daddy,” you breathed into his ear, nipping at his earlobe.
“Just kidding, I’m hard.”
Now, in the morning light, he was watching with moony eyes as you nuzzled down into your pillow. Your eyes fluttered for a moment as you took stock of all the delicious places you were suddenly acutely aware of with a small twist of your body.
“Mornin,’” Bradley murmured, tucking one hand behind his head.
You groaned gently, eyes squeezing shut tight before softly opening.
“Hi baby,” you greeted, blearily rubbing at your face. Eyes not yet focused, you zeroed in on your husband as he gazed over at you lovingly, his hand moving gently up and down beneath his blanket.
“Hi,” he grinned.
“What are you doing, Bradley?” You giggled, feeling like you were catching your 16-year-old boyfriend.
“Waiting for you to wake up,” he replied. “Ready for day two?” He asked.
“Day two?” You replied with an exasperated smile. “What’s your plan here Bradley?”
“Every day till we get a positive,” he said simply. “If you get pregnant in the next few weeks, we can have a spring baby,” he added.
“Bradley – every day?” You asked, eyes wide.
“I text Hondo, he’s covering for me at lunch next week, Phoenix can take the week after him,” he added.
“Bradley Bradshaw, what did you say to them?” You asked, mildly scandalized.
“Don’t you worry about it, baby,” he grinned, loving the way you rolled your eyes at him.
“Can’t you feed me first?” You asked softly, “the midnight grilled cheese was not enough,” you added. It was also the only time you two had come up for air all night.
“I will,” he assured, pulling the blanket off his body. His erection was pink, the tip wet and veins prominent. “But maybe, just to start the day…” he trailed off as his hand continued to pump up and down his length.
“I am sore,” you countered weakly, eyeing up his anatomy with a wanton gaze.
“I’ll be gentle,” he insisted, “you set the pace,” he added. You nodded, holding open your blanket, and soon, you were sliding down onto him, your body pressed tightly against his from head to toe.
“Oh, Bradley,” you sighed. And though you felt impossibly full, you felt complete. He gently rocked his hips up into you as you curled against his chest. “You’re so good to me,” you whispered, gasping as he hit a tender spot within you.
“You’re the one making my dream come true,” he countered, palming your ass in his hand as he dropped a kiss to the top of your head. “Gonna be the best Mama to our babies,” he encouraged.
You whined gently as he hit your cervix, which you were sure he’d bruised last night, but in the best way possible.
“S’okay,” he murmured, “doing such a good job,” he added, making your skin warm all over. “Doing such a good job.”
For moments, all that could be heard were his steady, even breaths and your soft exhales against his neck.
“Want you to come first,” he said, “I’m right after you – you first, baby.” Bradley did his absolute best to hold back as you gripped at his chest, hugging the underside of his shoulder to you as you fluttered around him. “Good job, good girl,” he looked up at the ceiling, a sweat breaking out across his forehead before he couldn’t hold back any longer. Just the idea that today could be the day they made a baby was enough for him.
“Bradley,” you gasped, his warm cum filling you as his hips jerked up erratically.
“Fuck,” he huffed out in a laugh. “I’m in there, babe,” he panted.
“I can tell,” you blushed, pressing your face into his chest once again. “Can you go make me some breakfast now?” You asked.
“You gotta wait,” he said, planting his feet and pushing his hips up to create a 45-degree angle, raising you up from the bed. “Gotta raise those hips,” he said, matter-of-fact.
“Baby,” you laughed. “Is this real or you just made it up?” You asked, bringing you hands up to brace on either side of his head
“I got a feeling,” he replied. “And it feels nice,” he added, making you blush again. “Next time, you’re gonna be upside down,” he commented.
“Upside down? Bradley, no,” you shook your head with another laugh.
“Baby, I’m gonna fold you every which way till Sunday,” he all but purred. “You’re gonna feel me in here for weeks,” he slapped your bare ass, making you squeal. “Your days as the only person calling me Daddy are over.”

***~***~***~***~***~***~***~***~***~***~***~***~*
You had spent all day staring at the ceiling, making friends with the shadows on your wall. You had spent all night hearing voices in your head—your own subconscious telling you that you should get some sleep, because tomorrow might be good for something.
You had to hold on, but you felt like you were headed straight for a mental breakdown. As you heard the doorknob turn from the outside of your bedroom, you knew exactly why you felt the way you did.
“Seresins here.” Jaidyn hissed as he stood in the doorway. He’d had you locked in the bedroom the pair of you shared for two days. It had been a punishment for the fact you couldn’t get your newborn to stop crying. Odette was having trouble latching, Jaidyn couldn’t stand her squealing, couldn’t stand how utterly hopeless you were at being a mother. He’d dragged you into the bedroom two days ago and took the door handle with him. So that’s exactly where you and your newborn baby girl stayed for two whole days. “Don’t try anything stupid or I swear to fucking god Y/n I’ll beat the ever living Christ out of you and that parasite daughter of yours.”
All you did was nod silently in response as you cradled your daughter to your chest and hurried out of the bedroom that had kept you contained for two entire days. Sure you had the ensuite, but those four bland walls were driving you insane.
“There’s my two favourite girls!” Jake beamed as he held out a bunch of flowers for you. You were a new first time mum, in Jake's eyes you deserved to be showered with love, affection, appreciation and supported to the fullest. “You haven’t answered my calls the past two days, I was starting to get worried.” There was an underlying question in Jake's statement, the kind that wanted to know if you were alright. The kind of underlying undertone that made you want to scream to the heavens above that you needed help, that you’d become somewhat of a prison in your own home, in your own relationship. “You doing alright mama?” Jake kissed your cheek tenderly as he embraced you and looked down at the sleeping tot in your arms. “Hi baby girl.”
When you didn’t answer immediately, Jaidyn cautiously pushed a framed photo of you and Jake off the hallway table that was situated just behind you. The crashing sound of the shattered picture frame made you jump with a gasp that evidently woke Odette up. She wasn’t sleeping well as it was and quite frankly neither were you between the isolation and malnourishment. Things weren’t alright, you weren’t alright, but you were too afraid to speak up.
“S-Sorry—“ You stuttered out. Jake frowned at the way you looked so scared, how you held your two week old with all the protectiveness you had. “Just been a little busy with Dotty here, I’m fine, I promise.”
“What’s a guy like you doing checking in on us on a Friday night anyway Seresin?” Jaidyn interrupted before Jake could press the conversation further. “Thought you would have had a hot date lined up or something?”
“Nah, not tonight—“ Jake sighed, he was still trying to get a read on what your expression was trying to tell him. “Thought I’d stop by and help out, surely with a newborn around there'd be a bunch of things that I could do.” Within a split second of Jake offering to help, Jaidyn was on him. He came around to snake an arm around your shoulder and you forgot how to breathe, his touch brought pain and your body had connected that.
“We’re fine, aren’t we darlin?” Jaidyn smiled before he leaned in to kiss your cheek. Through a painfully forced smile, you nodded. Terrified as to what may have happened if you didn’t. “No need Jake, really, we’re good.” It was as if Jaidyn was reminding you who you belonged to in the moment.
“You should totally go out Jake, it’s me who had a baby, not you—“ You tried to settle the now fussy newborn in your arms but Jake could tell you were struggling. You weren’t okay and he knew it. There was something wrong but the last thing he ever thought would be wrong was Jaidyn himself. Jake thought it was postpartum. That’s why he was checking in—he knew you didn’t have a good relationship with your family, he knew you and Jaidyn had been on the rocks the last few months, it was none of his business but he knew, he knew that your circle was small. “I’m so fine, you really don’t have to do a welfare check—I’d tell you if I needed help.” It was lie after lie after lie. “But I really do appreciate that you came by, here—I’ll get you a drink and we can—“
“Don’t you remember?” Jaidyn interrupted. “We’ve got dinner at my buddies place at seven.” You knew there was no dinner, but you pretended the thought had slipped your mind.
“Oh I totally forgot.” You pretended to be shocked at yourself. “Baby brain, what can I say.” Jake decided that seeing you alive was good enough for him, he trusted you enough to believe you’d tell him if you needed his help. He’d pump the breaks a little. Give you some space. “Maybe you can come round another time and we’ll have dinner together?”
“You know where to find me.” Jake replied softly as he handed you the bunch of flowers he’d stopped by Sheldon’s Green Grocer to get you. You took them gently from his grasp and when your fingers touched his, you wanted to cry. It had been the first gentle touch you’d experienced in two days. “Please, if you need anything, I’m only a call away.”
“I know.” You held yourself together as Jake said his goodbyes to Jaidyn. You knew the two were on rocky grounds but for your sake Jake played nice. He hated the fact Jaidyn hadn’t been there for the birth of your daughter. He hated how there were so many arguments he’d overheard and hated the way Jaidyn’s treated you. But you always had a defense, always had a reason to want to defend the guy. So he kept his options to himself. Because who was he to judge you.
The second Jake shut the front door, Jaidyn. Locked it. He stood in the foyer of the house that had once been yours, he’d managed to take it from underneath you. It was his now. He’d forced you to sign that dotted line.
“Room, now.” He barked as he snatched the bouquet from you.
“I can settle her if you give me two minutes.” You pleaded but Jaidyn wasn’t having it. He wanted you to know that bringing that little girl into the world against his wishes was what had sealed your fate.
“Go back to the bedroom, before I flog the ever living fuck out of you.” You didn’t fight back, you complied with his command to protect your daughter. You could recognise how quickly a bad situation was being critically insane. “Daddy dearest doing a drop by to see his fucking spawn doesn’t bode well for you—“
When you sat down on your side of the bed, Jaidyn stood before you as he pushed some of your hair behind your ear, the gentle touch was quickly followed by a harsh slap to the cheek. He didn’t hold back an ounce of force—but you didn’t let a peep escape. With the pad of his thumb and his fingers, Jaidyn squished your cheeks together as he turned your head towards where he stood. Forcing you to look up at him.
“I haven’t killed you because I love you, you know I love you right baby?” He spat. It was as twisted as love could ever get. “I’ll kill you the second I don’t love you anymore, so pray I never stop.”
“I know.” You mumbled out as Dot continued to fuss in your arms. “I know—“ Your voice shook with fear.
“And you me too, don’t you?” Jaidyn smiled maniacally. He was in control, he had you under his control and he loved it. No one knew, not a soul. He had everyone fooled.
“With all my heart.” You replied softly as he let go of your face.
“So be a good girl and stay here.” Jaidyn had a plan and his next step had already begun, he was slowly beginning to alienate you from Jake, your one lifeline. “I’m gonna go to Jason’s for a while.” It wasn’t like you to ask questions, so when you found yourself asking when Jaidyn would be back your heart sank into your chest. Fuck. Here it came.
“When will you be back?” With the force of a thousand suns Jaidyn spun around and connected his entire fist with your eye. Immediately at the force of it you began to cry. At the sound of your cry Odette began to cry too. Against your bed you laid a sobbing broken shell of your former self. All with your baby girl still in your arms. She was just two weeks old.
Jaidyn was becoming unpredictable, irrational. He was hungry for power and power he fed off. But the switch really flipped when he made his own connection that night. The connection that his jeans felt a little tighter at your cries of pain. That blood rushed to his length at the sight of you. He enjoyed your pain far too much to ever consider stopping.
The cattle prod in the closet was dead, but there was a thought there for a fleeting moment that Jaidyn thought about buying a new battery for it. He remembered the night he gave you that pretty little brand on your ass. You were his, you could never be anyone else’s. He’d kill you before you’d ever be anyone else’s. You were his and only his. But instead of changing out the batteries he settled for watching you and your daughter cry on your bed. It was a sight he’d imagine a little later when he got home and needed a release.
“What part of my plans are any of your fucking business.”
***~***~***~***~***~***~**
Rhett Abbott could barely keep his eyes open when he entered the threshold of his brother's home. The dim orange hume of the free standing lamp coming from the living room told him that Bob was still up. The sun was just about to kiss the horizon good morning—but the light had yet to make its appearance in the early hours. Everyone should have been sleeping soundly—yet everyone was on high alert.
“I tell ya what Rob when I agreed to come out here I didn’t expect to be—“ When Rhett rounded the corner he was sure he’d see his brother sitting perched on the couch or passed out from the lack of sleep everyone was getting. But much to Rhett’s delight it wasn’t Robert Floyd—. “Uh, Hi?”
It was Natasha Phoenix Trance.
“Hey Rhett.” Phoenix smiled softly under the hume of the lamp she was reading under. “Bob called me not too long after you guys left for the hospital, said he didn’t wanna be alone.” With a gentle nod Rhett entered this living room slowly, his eyes never left Natasha’s as she watched him move around. He looked all sorts of out of place. “How’s Odette?”
“She’s safe, with her mum—“ Rhett answered, a little less gruff than he normally would. Suddenly he thought back to how hard he’d been on Amilia in the emergency room—fuck, feelings were a son of a bitch weren’t they.
“And Hangman?” Phoenix raised a questioning brow. She didn’t want Rhett to feel like he was being interrogated, but she cared about her friends, her colleagues. All Rhett did was sigh out as he sat down on the lounge next to Phoenix, not too far away that it had been a deliberate act to stay away but not too close to make her uncomfortable.
“Last I checked little miss gumtrees and koala bears had that situation taken care of so I left it at that.” Phoenix chuckled, she’d heard about Chelsea’s little sister and how she’d managed to captivate the heart of none of the Hangman himself. “He’s fine, a couple of stitches, a concussion—but just like a roach he’ll survive.”
It had been a long night, Rhett could barely keep his eyes open but with Phoenix sitting right next to him looking all sorts of angelic and beautiful, he’d force his eyelids open for just a little longer.
“Bob said you did a pretty great thing tonight, advocating for Fe.” Phoenix finally closed her book entirely before she placed it down on the little coffee table sitting beside her. “She might not act like it but you’ve been a big help these past couple of weeks.”
“Yeah well—“ She could see the rose pink colour starting to kiss Rhett’s cheeks. He knew he did a good thing, he was a good person. He just didn’t know it because no one had ever really told him. “Kid needed her mum and besides, I take anything Rob says with a grain of salt.” Rhett yawned as he stretched his arms above his head a little more dramatically than he probably normally would have, but the way his action had Natasha laughing softly in the early hours of the morning made his heart skip a beat for the first time in a long time. “He doesn’t think that highly of me.”
“Well, between you and me Bobs pretty happy to have you here.” Phoenix explained as she settled further into herself. She wasn’t shy about the fact she knew Rhett was staring at her in a way she never thought she’d want him to let alone encourage. “What would it take you to stay? you know—after this whole charade is over and there isn’t anyone left to save?”
“It would have to be a series of unfortunate events,  Lieutenant Trance.” Rhett smiled out of the corner of his mouth under the dim light. “North Island isn’t the place for me.” The two sat in the comfortable silence of Robert Floyd’s living room for a moment as Rhett listened to the bedroom door open and closed from down the hall. He knew he’d be listening. “Don’t tell him I said this but I didn’t mind being needed for once.” Phoenix pretended to zip her lips shut with her fingers as she felt her own crimson hume appearing against the apples of her cheeks. In the fleeting moments that passed the two of them by, Rhett thought he may as well shoot his shot. “Do you uh—wanna grab a coffee with me sometime?”
“I’m free later on today if you are.” Rhett could barely control the smile that forced the corners of mouth to pin to his cheeks. “I know a place.”
“Yeah, yeah well all right then Miss Trance—“ Rhett couldn’t have been happier, he had a coffee date with a beautiful girl to take his mind off things for just a little while. “You’ve got yourself a date.”
“I’m looking forward to it, Abbott.”
Bob heard it loud and clear as he padded down the hall—from the gesture of brotherly need to the almost unnerving idea of his brother and his front seater starting a casual fling, he smiled to himself before he heard Rhett sigh and say his goodnight or good morning or whatever the hell you wanted to call it to Phoenix before he stood.
The two brothers met in the hall with a passing glance that resembled something of a
rekindlement. They both wanted to fix what they had broken over the years, call it a twin thing. But the pair were just as strong headed and stubborn as each other. Rhett knew it took a hell of a lot for Bob to reach out—and Bob knew it took all Rhett’s might to drop what he was doing to come help.
“Rob—“ Rhett nodded in passing.
“Rhett—“ Bob greeted his brother through a yawn. “Are you just getting in?”
“Yeah—“ Rhett didn’t see much reason to prolong the conversation. “Bradshaw said if you swing by his place later on there’s a beer in the fridge.” Rhett took notice of the way Bob shook his head and let out a small but audible scoff. “Hey if it’s free and you don’t want it, bring it home yeah?”
Bob didn’t mind the passiveness of it all. He didn’t mind the way Rhett said what he needed to say and left it at that. It was better than the two of them not talking at all. So he nodded and pressed his lips together in a firm line, committing it to memory to bring that beer back for Rhett.
“Sure thing.”
***~***~***~***~***~***~***~***
“Okay so, You’ll need to present to the ER in ten days to have those stitches removed from your head.” The Doctor discharging Jake after his overnight stay on the grounds of monitoring his condition, explained. “Keep them dry but if you feel like you need to you can lightly dab at the area with a damp washcloth to help keep the area clean—perhaps a trusted friend or partner could help you with that.” Jake didn’t say a word but his eyes traveled over to where Amilia stood reading some random educational infographic that caught her eye on the wall of Jake's hospital room.
“You’ll also need to take these with food and water twice a day to ward off potential infection.” The doctor handed Jake a packet of antibiotics. “And no flying till that concussion is gone—“
“Gee, your bedside manner leaves something to be desired, Doc.” Amilia chuckled as she shook her head softly and came over to where Jake was sitting with his legs over the side of the hospital bed he’d stayed in overnight. With the way Jake immediately brought her close with his arm as he gently perched his open hand on her hip and his cheek on her shoulder it wouldn’t have been an overestimate to assume the pair were dating.
“You should start to feel less foggy in the next couple of days, Lieutenant.” Doctor Sullivan smiled as he shook Jake's hand. “I’m sure your girlfriend here will keep a watchful eye on you.” Jake immediately felt his heart stop beating inside his chest as his face grew hot with embarrassment. He could feel himself wanting to pull away and explain to the Doctor that the two were not in fact an item. But Amilia acknowledged the statement with grace which allowed for a far less awkward conversation to follow.
“She will.” Amilia smiled and squeezed Jake's side as she mimicked his original expression of affection and wrapped her arm around his side from behind.
“Have a good day.” Doctor Sullivan was quick to say his final goodbye before heading out on his morning rounds. Leaving both Amilia and Jake to sit in the silence.
“Okay big guy let’s get you home.” Amilia groaned as she tapped Jakes back and watched him stand. He could very much do it on his own, but he didn’t let his arm fall from around Amilias shoulder for even a second.
“You know this could be the conconcussion talking but I don’t remember ever asking you to be my girlfriend?” Jake smirked at the way Amilia nearly tripped over her own feet at his statement. “I’m not saying that it would be a bad thing either, to have you as a girlfriend.” Jake Seresin hadn’t had a girlfriend since his senior year of college and she wasn’t serious. “Just don’t remember asking—“
“You haven’t—“ Amilia squeezed Jake's hand as she stayed close to his side. She’d been there the whole night besides the hour she’d gone home to change her clothes and freshen up. “Just thought it would be easier to lie than to have that poor guy chasing his tail apologising for assuming.” It was a very good point.
“What would the answer be if I did?” Jake pressed as the two made their way to the elevator, Amilia didn’t ask why Jake pressed the third floor instead of the ground floor button. She already knew where he wanted to go. To see you. “If I asked you?” Sure of herself as a heat radiated in her cheeks, Amilia tried to keep her lips pressed together to stop herself from bashfully grinning ear to ear. She turned to Jake as he looked at her and without hesitation, he ducked to press his lips to hers in a fleeting moment.
“Guess you’ll have to find out when you ask.” Amilia smiled against Jake's lips as she pulled away. He was obsessed, infatuated and utterly head over heels for this woman he hardly knew but would throw himself in front of without even thinking. “You still owe me that date.”
***~***~***~***~***~***~***~***
“It looks like you’re numbers up miss Y/l/n.” Your Doctor beamed as he entered your room for morning rounds with a smile plastered across his face that looked as if he was about to give you the greatest gift of all. “Todays the day—“ He paused at the end of your bed and watched you play with your daughter's hair as she sat between your legs as Bradley ever so carefully painted her tiny nails a bright orange. The same orange he’d done your toes in a few days prior. “I'm signing those damn discharge papers you’ve been hounding me about.”
“No way Dotty, did you hear that?” You tickled her side softly and leaned in to kiss her cheek. “Mama gets to come home with you and Roo bear today!” It was the day you’d been waiting for, been praying on and wishing every time you closed your eyes that tomorrow would be the day.
“We’ll still need to do your finale assessments and assuming that you pass the physicality of the tasks you’ll be good to go.”
“She’ll jump through hoops to get home, a few formalities are the least of her worries. I can tell you that with certainty.” Bradley added as he looked your way with proper heart eyes. You’d never seen eyes light up with so much love and unconditional affection before. But then there was Bradley Bradshaw and he was all yours.
“Give us a little time to get prepped and I’ll bring the team in for some assessments and based on that we’ll get you out of here as soon as possible.” It was truly the best news you’d ever heard. You were going home. Finally.
Odette couldn’t have been more excited if she tried, it was hard being three and trying to hide that amount of excitement in your system. It was bound to happen eventually, Bradley honestly hadn’t thought that the secret would have been kept for this long. Dot had given it her very best try, so when the secret was slipping out of her tiny three year old mouth he couldn’t even find it in his heart to be the slightest bit mad.
“Tooster, does mama get to come home to our new home?” You frowned at your daughter’s words as you played with the bands that still kept your jaw from opening too much. “To your home?”
“Bradley—“ You warned softly as you turned your attention to the love of your life. “What have you been up to?”
“I’ve been up to nothing, I’ve got no idea what she’s talking about.” Bradley tried to play dumb, but you saw the way his mustache twitched. To the untrained eye it would have gone unnoticed—but you’d become all too familiar with Roosters small tells. “She’s just—“
“My ooms gonna be lellow.” Dot looked over at her Tooster like she knew she’d just thrown him under the bus and under the bus hard. “And mamas gonna share with Tooster.”
“Mamas gonna share what with Tooster?” Jake interrupted as he and Amilia headed on into your hospital room. “You tell her that you moved all her stuff to yours?” There was something in your eyes that told Jake he’d just let the cat out of the bag, but it wasn’t a glare. It wasn’t a look of rage or anger—it was something softer and more full of thankfulness. “Oh hang on.” Jake cupped his hand, the one that wasn’t in Amilias, over his mouth. “Fuck.”
“You moved us into your place already?” The way you asked, already told Bradley everything he needed to know, you were thrilled. “Rooster you didn’t have to do that, I could have helped when—“
“No need.” Was all Bradley replied with as he stood to place a gentle kiss atop your head. His hand fell softly to your good shoulder. “There's still a few things that I need to take care of, but the majority of your stuff and Dot's stuff is already sorted.”
“My doll house is at Toosters mama.” Dot interrupted as Jake began making his way over to collect her for a hug. “In my bedoom.”
“Well isn’t that just super awesome, that means we can play with your dollies when we get home doesn’t it?” You beamed as bright as you could as you hugged your daughter from behind with one good arm.
It was then you fully turned your attention to the woman standing beside Jake as he reached in to lift Odette up. You didn’t recognise her in the slightest bit but only assumed that she was the woman who Jake had taken one hell of a liking to.
“You must be Amilia?” You asked through a tight lipped smile as you held your hand out to greet her. “Thankyou for everything you’ve done for me and my family.” Amilia didn’t expect the praise she received but nevertheless she accepted it with enough grace in her system that she didn’t make a fool of herself. “Must be something really special about you if you’ve got Jake all in a flurry.” You teased at the man who now held your daughter tight on his hip. “He isn’t the biggest fan of monogamy.”
“Hey—“ Jake hissed. “I do alright thank you very much.” Amilia laughed it off as she watched Jake and Dot interact like they were one in the same. He felt like he’d failed her once more last night, but Jake couldn’t be too hard on himself. Jaidyn was a maniac and he had very much proven that. Something definitely wasn’t right in his mind.
“Amilia came by last night to see how you were doing after Rhett brought Dot up.” Bradley explained. “You were sleeping but she stayed and kept me company for a little while.” Just the thought of knowing someone had been there for Rooster made your heart swell. “She saw I wasn’t doing so well.”
“Well that settles it then, you and I are gonna have to grab a coffee and get to know each other once I’m out of this place.” It was a bittersweet moment for everyone in the room, on one side of the situation they were all excited to get you home. They all knew how much you hated being trapped in the hospital. But on the other side, once you were out there was no telling what could happen. At least in the hospital you were safe. No one could hurt you.
“We should probably talk about a few things before the doctors come back Fe.” Bradley sighed. “Jake, Ams, will you guys take Odette to get some breakfast?”
“I reckon we can handle that.” Jake agreed. “Give those doctors hell Fe, you're coming home.” Jake's pep talk was short and sweet, as he turned to say something to Amilia, you saw the bandage on the back of his head.
“Wait, why do you have a bandage on the back of your head?” You asked Jake through a frown. “What happened?” The panic had begun to rise. “Jake?” The longer anyone went without answering you the more your blood pressure rose. “Guys? Holy shit what happened!”
“All that matters is I’m fine.” Jake replied, it was a conversation left for Rooster to have, to loop you in and figure out what to do next. “Come on Dotty, let’s give mama some time to rest yeah? Oz and I are gonna get some breakfast and you’re coming with us.”
“It was nice to meet you.” Amilia smiled as softly as she could. “Officially that is, I feel like I’ve known you for weeks now.”
“Likewise.” You acknowledge the woman who’d become an extension of your best friend. There was a spark there, you could tell. Jake looked at Amilia like she hung all the stars in the night sky just for him. When she placed a gentle hand against the small of his back to help guide him out you knew Jake wasn’t one hundred percent, he was fronting. The second Dot, Jake and Amilia were gone, you knew something was horribly wrong. “Bradley, you’re gonna tell me everything, I deserve to know what he did.”
“We don’t know what his aim was.” Bradley settled back into the chair beside your bed that had become his second home. “He cut the power in Jake's place last night.” The thought alone gave you chills. “When Jake went to see what was up he smashed a piece of two by four against the back of his head.” The silence that fell around your hospital room was as loud and as deafening as silence could be. “Good thing he was on the phone with Amilia or else who knows how long he would have been there for.”
“He didn’t hurt Dotty?” Your voice was laced with a tremendous amount of concern. “At all?” Bradley could see the way your hands shook against the blanket as you fiddled with the fabric. It was no secret to anyone around you that you were completely and utterly terrified of the father of your daughter. You’d always been completely honest about that. You weren’t brave when it came to him. You knew what he was capable of. What he could and would do.
“Nope, and we don’t know we’re he is now or what he’s up to but if i'm being completely honest with you baby—“ Bradley sighed as he finally said what had been haunting him since he saw you beaten and bloodied and nearly dead in the janitor's closet. “I don’t know how to keep you safe from him, he’s too unpredictable now.”
“Maybe I should talk to the police?” You suggested nervously. “They were here once, asked me to file charges. Maybe doing that will do something?” You really didn’t want to have to do it, but at this stage it seemed necessary. “It’ll help.”
“Maybe, but I’m not gonna tell you what to do baby.” Rooster cooed. “But maybe it’ll give you a leg up.” It was just an idea, Bradley knew you weren’t too keen on filing charges and having to go through that entire process—but it might have to be done. “I reckon what we do, is stop by the station on the way home, talk to the guys who are already involved and see what they say.”
“I can do it myself Rooster you don’t have to co—“ Before you could even finish that sentence Bradley was interrupting. He immediately shook his head and mumbled out an “ah ah ah.”
“Your business is my business and my business is your business, and this mess is our business to take care of.” Bradley leaned forward to rub his nose against yours to bring out a delicate chuckle from deep within your soul. “So we’ll do what we have to do, together.” It was a night and day comparison to what you had gotten so used to knowing. You had a partner, in every aspect of the word. Bradley Bradshaw was the love of your life.
“Okay, we do this together.”
***~***~***~***~***~***~***~***~*
Bob Floyd was a simple man. He loved his family, he loved his friends, and he loved his career. There wasn’t a single thing he’d change. Except for maybe the strained relationship he shared with his brother.
As Bob unlocked the front door of Roosters home, everything seemed normal. He’d done this a time or two before. Bob would go over, tidy things up, sort stuff out, he’d help Rooster out while he was dealing with a situation Bob couldn’t even begin to imagine how hard it was to navigate. A three year old, domestic abuse, work inquiries and so on and so forth. The least Bob felt like he could do was some dishes and vacuuming.
Bob made his way into Bradley’s kitchen in search of that beer he knew he’d forget about if he didn’t put his keys in there with it. But when Bob opened the fridge door and saw no beer bottle, he frowned. Huh, Rooster must have thought he put it there.
So Bob shrugged it off, he shut the fridge and pocketed his keys before he absentmindedly got to work pacing around the kitchen. Emptying the dishwasher full of all Dots dishwasher friendly cups and bowls and plates and spoons. Bradley had been busy preparing his house for the three year old that stole his heart. That much was adamant.
As Bob went about his business, he thought about filling the silence with some music—he knew Rooster had a speaker system hooked up to his TV unit. With a dishcloth in hand and a hum in his throat, Bob made his way around the corner into the living room where he was met with something very out of place.
The empty beer bottle, sitting pretty atop the old wooden coffee table Bradley kept when his mother had died. The second thing Bob noticed out of place in the living room was the empty mantle piece. As Bob's eyes trailed to the floor he took notice of the shattered picture framed—all broken and twisted and a mess on the floor. Then in the heavy silence of what should have been Bradley Bradshaw's empty home, he heard a click from behind him.
The click of a pin on a handgun.
“Someone should have told you to mind your own fucking business Floyd.” Jaidyn snarled, he’d had a bone to pick with Bob since the hanger. “And now here you are again, sticking your nose into shit that you know nothing about.”
“What are you doing here?” Bob turned around slowly to face the man who’d caused you and your family so much pain.
“House sitting—“ Bob showed no emotion as he held his hands up near his head. “What are you doing here?” He could recognise this wasn’t a good situation to be in. He played it cool though, masked the terror bubbling to the surface.
“Helping out.” Bob knew in that moment he had to be smart about every move he made, right now though he’d play Jaidyn’s game.
“Seems as though your offer to help out a friend might just cost you your life Bob.” Jaidyn wore a wicked smirk as he held out his hand. “Give me your phone.”
With a shaking hand and a skyrocketing heartbeat, Bob reached into the back pocket of his jeans. As he flipped it over the check the screen Bob noticed three things in the quick transaction. There was a text from Rhett that had gone unread, a missed call from Fanboy, Bob had never regretted having his phone on silent more in his life, and his background. A photo of him and Rhett when they were five. Together forever trapped in a memory of the past.
“You could still walk away from all of this you know.” Bob tried to mask the fear in his voice. “Skip town, assume a new identity, start fresh.” It sounded ridiculous really but it could have been just what Jaidyn needed to hear. “I don't want any trouble, I won’t even tell no one I saw you here.”
“Oh Robert—“ Jaidyn sighed as he pocketed Bob's phone. “I really wish I didn’t have to do this.” Before Bob had a chance to say anything, Jaidyn reached for the handle of the gun and smacked Bob's temple. He went down without much of a fight. “But I gotta teach that little bitch a lesson.” With a solid kick to the gut, Bob cowered in somewhat of a fetal position—trying to protect his vital organs.
“Gotta show her that no one around her is safe, no one she loves is safe, no one who truly matters to her is safe because I will stop at nothing!” Jaidyn barked as he stomped the bottom of his boot against Bob's head, one single movement that had the Weapons System Officer down and out for the count. “Till she’s dead or killed herself.”
Unconscious & Unresponsive.

The bathroom light creeped under the door and into your bedroom. Maybe it was the light, or the absence of Pete in your bed that made you wake up. Even with a huge blanket tucked around you, you could already feel how cold the room was. A glance at the alarm clock and out the window told you that it was 4 in the morning, the sun wasn’t even up yet. Pete had a lot of early mornings like this, one of the very few downsides to dating him. Now that you were awake, there was really no turning back to try and fall back asleep before he left. You looked around the room for some clothes to throw on, you were too cold to be naked any longer. With only a small amount of light illuminating the room, you couldn’t see any clothes on the floor.
“Babe?” You called with hopes he would bring you a sweatshirt. No answer. “Baby?… Babyyyyy”
Still, no answer. “Pete? Lt. Pete Maverick Mitchel, I’m cold, please bring me clothes.” You we’re almost shouting. He still didn’t answer. All that time in a loud fighter jet must finally be getting to his ears.
You climbed out of bed, but kept your blanket wrapped tightly around you. You waddled up to the bathroom, opening the door. He was brushing his teeth at the sink, his eyes lit up when you walked in.
“Hi baby.” He slurred through the toothpaste. His hair was slick and wet from taking a shower and his face was cleanly shaven. He had nothing but a towel around his waist. You walked over to him and opened your blanket to hug him, completely disregarding that you were naked. Neither of you said a word as you wrapped him in the blanket with you, his chest warm against your cool face. He moved his arms around your shoulders and finished brushing his teeth. When he was done, you were almost asleep in his arms.
He hugged you with his cheek set on top of your head. “Why are you up baby?”
You shrugged. “I missed you.”
He chuckled. He picked you up and wrapped your legs around his waist. He was silent as he brought you back to the bed and set you down in it. He removed the blanket from around you, earning a small whine. He placed it back over you, then put the comforter over that. He tucked the blankets into your sides and sat on the edge of the bed. He stroked your hair for a moment, pushing hair away from your forehead.
“Stay here, Pete.” You mumbled.
His hand didn’t stop moving along your hair as he responded, “I have to go, Y/N.”
You groaned slightly. He leaned down and kissed your forehead. “I’ll be back before you know it. Now go back to sleep.” His lips feathered against yours in the softest, gentlest kiss.
You nodded. “I love you.” You whispered.
“I love you too.”
He got up and you dozed off while he dressed for the day. By the time you woke up again, he was gone. Sitting up in bed, you looked around. Next to you sat a sweatshirt and sweatpants with a post-it note on top.
I’ll see you at 3. Here are some clothes since you seem to be lacking in that department. I love you baby.

“i’m worried that if we go there, and things don't work out... things might never be the same.” with rooster! please and thank you! :)
prompts list:) thank you for the request!
All of Rooster’s life he was told that everyone gets one “great love” in their life. His mother’s great love was obviously his father and the one reason why she never remarried. Rooster could remember when he was about 13 or 14, asking his mother why she never remarried. It had been over 10 years since his father’s passing and Carole had never so much as looked at a male the way she did Goose.
“Because it wouldn’t be fair,” Carole told her son, a sad smile on her face, “It wouldn’t be fair to marry a man knowing I couldn’t love him the way I love your father. He was my great love… and I’ll never find another one like that.”
Bradley wondered if towards the end of her life, when she was alone in the house for those last couple of years when he was off at school, if maybe, just maybe she wished she had someone there. He asked her again, on one of the last good days she had, if she wished she had found someone to spend her life with.
Carole again, gave him a sad smile, “It wouldn’t be fair. There’s only one person I’ve been praying about seeing again.”
Bradley hadn’t realized it at the time, but the older he got, the more he envied what his parents had. “A Great Love” that was as if it came straight from a romance novel. “A Great Love” that held steady for years, despite his father being deceased for more than half of it. “A Great Love” that seemed to come so easy to them but for Bradley, was nearly impossible.
Except, it wasn’t impossible.
No, Bradley did have a “Great Love”, in the form of the neighbor girl who lived in the blue house next door. The girl who used to make mudpies with in the backyard. The girl who teased him relentlessly when he got braces only to end up with wires on her own teeth a couple of weeks later. The girl who is his best friend… and is currently crying on his couch over her now ex-boyfriend.
“A-And he was saying stuff and I-“ You sucked in a deep breath, trying to will the tears to stop falling down your cheeks.
"I'm sorry, Ducky," Rooster said, using the age-old nickname, even though he wasn't in the slightest sorry. Sure, he felt bad that you got your heartbroken, but he was celebrating the fact that Douchebag Dan was finally out of your life, "You deserve better."
"I thought he was the one!" You sobbed, "He had me sending him ring options!"
And suddenly Bradley hated Douchebag Dan even more than he did fifteen minutes ago when you showed up at his doorstep.
"Hey," Bradley said shifting closer to you, his thigh touching yours, "You know what this means though, right," You looked up at him with big sad eyes and the most adorable wobble of your bottom lip, "Your great love is still out there."
You rolled your eyes, "I'm starting to think that's a hock of shit," You flopped back on the couch defeated, "I've dated three guys in my lifetime all for over two years and none of them have put a ring on my finger," You held up your hand, wiggling your ring finger, "It's just not going to happen. I don't have a great love."
"Sure you do."
"Where!?" You looked over at Bradley, "Where is mine?"
"Maybe, you're looking too hard for it. Maybe they're closer than you think," Bradley simply shrugged, reaching for his beer bottle on the coffee table.
"Yeah?" You quipped, "What about you? Have you met your 'great love'."
Bradley sucked in a breath, knowing he couldn't lie to you about this or hell, about anything, "Yeah," He admitted, "But she doesn't feel the same."
You felt a pang in your heart, causing you to sit up, pulling your legs underneath you, "Does she know?"
Bradley shrugged, "I think so. I mean, I-I've known her forever."
"Oh," You were trying to rack your brain of the potential girls that Bradley had his heart set on, "Do I know her?"
"Mhm," Bradley pursed his lips, taking another sip of his beer for he stupidly gave himself and his stupid crush away. A stupid crush that could mean the end of the longest, greatest friendship he has ever had. You were the one thing from his childhood that had managed to stick around. You were there when his mother died, when his dreams of following his father's footsteps came crashing down, when he got his acceptance letter to UVA, when he graduated flight school and got his wings, when he graduated from TopGun.
All the major memories that Bradley had, you were always right there. He couldn't let a stupid crush end that. He couldn't let his heart and his feelings complicate things. He couldn't-
"It's Phoenix, isn't it?"
Bradley spat his beer out of his mouth, coating the coffee table in sticky alcohol. Your eyes widened as he coughed and wiped the beer from his lips.
"What?" He choked out.
"Your great love," You muttered, "Is it Phoenix?"
"Hell no," Bradley shook his head, "That-that's crazy."
"Not really, she's pretty and you're around her all the-"
"It's you," Bradley cut you off.
You felt your heart stop in your chest as you stared at your best friend, "W-What?"
He sighed, hanging his head in shame, "It's you, Y/N. It has always been you. You are my "great love"."
"Bradley, I-"
Bradley shook his head, "I didn't mean to do this. Not when you're upset over Douchebag Dan, but. . .fuck, I can't take it anymore," He stood up from his spot on the couch, beginning to pace, "Watching you go with guys who have no idea what it means for you to look at them like they hung the fucking stars. To have you love them and kiss them and be with them day after fucking day. I love you, Y/N. I have been in love with you."
Fresh tears were in your eyes as you looked at the man who is your best friend, "Why didn't you tell me?" Your voice was barely above a whisper.
"Because I’m worried that if we go there, and things don't work out... things might never be the same," Bradley's big brown eyes shone with unshed tears, "And you're all I have left. I can't lose you."
"You won't lose me," You stood up from your spot on the couch, walking over to him, "Cause I love you too," You grabbed his face in your hands and placed a kiss on his lips.

Moving Forward: Chapter Four (18+ MDNI)
Tumblr media
Previous Chapter Next Chapter (Updated once Posted)
Series Masterlist
Pairing: Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw x Reader
Synopsis: Y/N returns home after her fight with Rooster and Hangman. What should have been a cathartic conversation with her father turns into a heartbreaking dose of reality as new information comes to light not only about her history with Jake and Bradley but also about her father's health. The world was shaky before, and now it's crumbling around her.
Warning: language + references to death and character drama + cancer + lots of emotions (grief)
A/N: I hope you guys "enjoy" this one. It has got some heaviness to it, but I think it will set up where I'd like to go with this story very nicely. Also, and as always, I apologize for any and all mistakes.
The frustration dulled to a simmer during the drive home, but the remnants of the tears you shed were still sticky on your cheeks as you drove. The setting sun colored the low-hanging clouds in vibrant hues of purple and pink by the time you pulled into the drive. Mellow light poured out onto the front porch painting the concrete in a peachy hue. Parking your bike in its spot, you wasted no time pushing open the door and making your way inside. Energetic voices floated down the hall, getting louder and more vibrant the closer you got to the kitchen. Your middle brother's resonant voice carried through the house as he told some silly story about his most recent high school adventure. The thud of your bag and boots hitting the floor was lost in a burst of youthful laughter. The high-pitched squeal of your younger siblings tugged at your heart and allowed for a small smile to grace your lips.
Standing in the shadowy hall, you went unnoticed at first. As you came around the corner to the perfect image of your family at the dinner table the weight of everything actually started to lift. Their plates were mostly clean, and now conversation flowed freely. The only voice missing from the fray was your father’s, and by god you missed it. Sitting side-by-side, your parents clung to one another gently. Ice’s strong arm rested on the back of her chair, while your mother reached for his free hand under the table. Catching your approach, he turned his head to look at you. Silent questions and concerns were evident in the furrow of his brows.
The sudden shouting of your name tore you from your moment of nostalgic reflection. Stepping further into the room, you plastered a grin on your face as the youngest of your sisters came screaming across the floor toward you. Her thin arms were outstretched for you to grab her as she continued to repeat your name over and over again. Stooping down, you braced yourself for impact. There’d been a time, not all that long ago when picking her up this way had been impossible. Now it was something you’d never let go of again.
The second her tiny frame was in your arms you stood spinning her around as she held herself to you like a vice. Letting go of an exaggerated groan, you halted your twirls, shifting her weight so that she was on your good hip.
“Y/N, where you go today?” her voice met you as she held your cheeks in her hands.
Looking at her you said, “Where’d I go today?” she shook her head yes before you continued, “I was at work, sweet girl. You know that.” smiling at her you hoped that this sudden change of routine hadn’t caused her too much stress. She’d already been through so much in her short little life.
“Flyin’ planes?” the last word came out more like 'pawaynes' than planes, but it was so endearing you couldn't help, but smile.
“That’s right, and kickin’ Uncle Mav’s butt in the air.”
“Don’t hurt Uncle Mav, Y/N. That’s not nice.” A genuine concern laced her words as she admonished you.
A huff of stilted laughter caught your attention. It wasn’t the same as hearing your father’s laughter before the cancer had taken most of his voice, but it still filled your heart with joy. Glancing over at him, you met his wide smile with your own before turning back to the little girl in your arms to reassure her that Mav was in fact okay.
“Don’t worry, kiddo. I didn’t hurt Uncle Mav, I’d never do that.”
Walking over to the table you sat down in the empty spot that had been your seat since you were a kid. Your sister squirmed on your lap before tearing herself away and returning to her “big girl chair” on the other side of the table. Your chest clenched as you realized just how grown she’d gotten in the last few months. The conversation picked back up as the rest of the family launched into their previous stories. Each one overlapped the other vying for attention.
Sitting just to the right your father, you could feel his eyes on you the entire time, analyzing everything for any sign of how the day actually went. You couldn’t be sure, but if you were a betting woman at least a few text messages had already been sent his way from Mav. Whether or not they said anything about the way the day actually ended or not was the million-dollar question. Pete might not have been in the room for your outburst, but news of it was sure to travel fast. Shit like that like always did.
Noticing that you'd made no motion to grab yourself a plate of food, your mom stood silently and fixed your plate. The off-white porcelain was scratched from years of use, but she refused to get rid of the set. It had been a lovely wedding present from Carole Bradshaw. Setting the heaping pile of food down in front of you, she placed a kiss on the top of your head. Her delicate fingers squeezed your shoulders for just a moment before she returned to her seat.
Silently, you ate some of what she’d offered, but most of it went untouched. The minutes stretched on, but before long it was time for the littles to get ready for bed. Standing from their seats, both of your parents headed off to get the nighttime routine rolling. The school day started bright and early, and with so many in need of a shower or bath before heading to sleep, this part of the day often seemed to stretch on forever in the Kazansky household.
Alone in the kitchen, you listened to the hustle and bustle that was taking place upstairs. As had been the norm for many years, you cleaned up the post-dinner mess. Clearing the table, filling the dishwasher, and getting it started before moving on to taking out the trash. Tying off the black hefty bag, it took a swift yank to free it from the can. You didn’t bother putting back on your shoes as you plodded down the driveway in your socks toward the garbage cans that sat at the end.
The air was lovely, a cool breeze swept through fending off the vicious heat of the day. Taking a deep breath you soaked it all in. The sound of the leaves rustling in the wind, the earthy scent of freshly mowed grass, the woodsy burn of a bonfire crackling in someone else’s backyard… it was all so peaceful. The far-off grumble of an engine startled you back into action. Dropping the bag in the can, you let the lid slam as you turned toward the house.
Back inside, you moved on autopilot to the one safe space that remained after all this time. The office door was open just a crack, and a dim glow filtered out into the hall. Without knocking, you snuck into the room. It was an unspoken rule between you and your father. If the door was open, then it was okay to come inside. The room was filled with the orange light that came through the lampshade in the corner. There was just enough illumination to clearly display the piles of paper that were spread out over the surface of his desk.
Sitting there, Ice held one of the letters in his hand. The blank expression plastered over his features was broken at the sound of the door coming open. Snapping his head to look at you, the concern from earlier returned in full force. The corners of his lips turned down as he took in the sight of you.
You stayed planted by the door. The soft click of his keyboard forced you to look away from him toward the screen. He typed slowly and deliberately, before turning back to look at you as you read.
It’s okay if you’re not all right.
And that was all it took. Tears pooled in your eyes as you struggled to find the right words. When they didn’t come, Ice stood from his chair and closed the space between you. His strong arms closed around your body, holding you close to his chest. Wrapped in his loving warmth, you let go of your composure. Silent sobs shook your shoulders, and your tears stained his sweater, but that didn’t matter. Holding you tighter, he kept you as steady as possible through the waves of emotion. The faint scent of his cologne enveloped you the longer you clung to him.
In time, the tears slowed giving you back control of your lungs and body. Sensing that it was okay to move, he guided you forward to the open chair next to his desk before claiming his own. Silence filled the void between you as Ice waited for you to initiate the conversation. He stayed focused on the way your body curled in on itself as you tucked your feet up into the seat with you. Your shoulders rounded into a hunch as your arms circled your knees, your chin resting on top, while your eyes glued themselves to the shelves behind your father. Your joints didn’t like being forced into this position, but perching yourself this way had become a habit. The hours spent next to him, sitting just like this as he chugged away at paperwork, teaching you bits and pieces had left their mark.
“I can’t fly with them,” you confessed quietly.
The movement of keys could be heard as he typed his reply. Hearing them stop, you tugged your face back to the computer and away from the wall.
The screen read, Are we talking about Bradley or Jake?
“Does it matter?”
Ice leveled his gaze at you, his eyes piercing and steady. The answer in them was obvious. Of course, it mattered.
“I know… I know.” turning away again, this time to stare out the office window, your voice quivered as you continued to speak, “It’s just… having them here… seeing the way they look at me…”
Taking his time as he typed, Ice shifted in his seat as he finished.
Glancing back, you knew what it’d say before you even looked, It’s time to let it go, Y/N.
“And do what? Just forget? Pretend like I don’t wish every day that I was the one- ”
Your voice broke forcing you into silence again. You struggled against the tension in your throat. The words you wanted to say were trapped, none of them felt right, and yet you were bursting at the seams to speak.
That’s not what I mean and you know it… it's not about forgetting, it's about moving forward. You deserve to be happy.
“And how do I do that?”
You have to forgive yourself…
His hands stayed on the keys, but he stopped typing for a moment as if he was thinking hard about what to say next.
And you have to talk to them, Y/N. You can’t run away from them forever. I know you’re hurting, but so are they. And I know you blame yourself for so much, but it’s never going to get easier until you face it. You have to do it, for you and for them.
“I know you're right, but…. Jake… he’s so angry with me, he hates me, and I even can’t blame him. If I were him… I’d want nothing to do with me. His best friend’s in the fucking ground because of me. How do I even begin to apologize for that? It’s not possible” New tears formed as you tried to focus on your breathing, but they didn’t fall, not yet, “And, Bradley? I just… I miss him more than I should and I don’t want to feel that way anymore. It hurts too much.”
Choking on the last of your words, you unfolded from your seat and walked to the bookshelf across the room. The tips of your fingers brushed along the spines of the aging books, their cracked leather was grounding beneath your touch.
The pair of you remained quiet for a while, each lost in thought, but a rough cough from your father stopped you in your tracks. Turning back to face him, the lamp's bright light gleamed off his glasses. In your silence, he’d picked up the letter he’d been looking at earlier. He focused on it intensely for a moment longer before lifting his eyes to meet yours. Studying him, you noticed just how run down he looked as if the weight of the world rested on his shoulders. The look on his face sent your stomach plummeting to the floor. The realization of what must have been on that paper clicked into place with a sickening thump.
At almost a whisper you asked the dreaded question, “It's back, isn’t it?”
Ice simply nodded 'yes' as he sat down the paper.
“Does mom know?”
He nodded 'yes' again.
“What about-”
He cut you off with a shake of his head. This time it was a 'no' and you understood why. He knew you were going to ask about your siblings because last time you'd been the one to help them pick up the pieces after that conversation. It had to happen sooner rather than later, but you also knew that it would be a careful one with each word chosen thoughtfully.
“And Uncle Pete, does he know?” you stared back at him already knowing the answer before he gave it. A broken look of anguish came over your father’s face as he admitted the truth. His wingman was in the dark about this development. There was a reason Mav was back in town on orders from your father, and it wasn’t just because he was a great pilot. He needed to say goodbye… but he just hadn’t figured out how.
“Is there anything they can do? Anything the doctors haven’t tried?”
Another 'no' and the sight of his answer tore at you in a way you could never have imagined. Panic fluttered deep in your body, sending a flush over your skin. Seeing your shoulders hitch, and your eyes glaze over, Ice was out of his chair and to you in an instant. Holding you tightly to him yet again, he hid his face from view to give himself time to collect his own emotions.
Feeling him shudder, you pulled back just enough to look at his face. Tears blurred your vision, but you didn’t need to see him fully as you spoke, “You can’t leave me yet… I can’t do this without you, Dad. I don't wanna-"
And for the first time, he spoke, “I’ll always be with you… no matter where you go.”

Just Need The Right Partner
Tumblr media
Summary: Reader is a terrible pool player. Jake "Hangman" Seresin teaches them they just need the right partner. (I’m terrible at these)
Warnings: Cheesy, terrible writing, (I have no idea what this turned into, it’s not what I planned to write)
Pairing: Jake “Hangman” Seresin x Reader (Only one use of Y/N)
Characters: Jake “Hangman” Seresin, Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw, Javy “Coyote” Machado, Natasha “Phoenix” Trace, Robert “Bob” Floyd. Mentions of Penny Benjamin, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell,
Word Count: 3,055 (Sorry? Not sorry)
A/N: This started off as one thing and sort of took off into its own thing. Not the best thing I’ve ever written, but clearly it wanted to be written. Also know very little about pool, so if these details are wrong – I would love to know!
Tumblr media
It was your night off, but you still found yourself hanging out at The Hard Deck. You'd worked for your aunt Penny for almost two years and frequently spent your off time at the bar. It felt like home even though you were twelve hundred miles away from your actual home.
A week ago, a new round of aviators returned to Top Gun for some special assignment. They were even more competitive than you were used to from the other pilots, and almost all seemed to know each other personally. When you asked Penny about it, she said they were all previous graduates, most of them at the top of their respective classes. At least, that's what Pete had told her. You still weren't sure what you were supposed to call that guy – he said it was okay to call him Pete, but everyone in the bar referred to him by his call sign.
Dagger squad had been in every night since they arrived at the base. You had warmed up to a few of them. Phoenix was all-around amazing, Coyote made you laugh, and Bob was the sweetest aviator you had met since you started. Rooster was well-rounded – funny, kind, and caring; he reminded you much of your older brother, except your brother could not play the piano. Then there was the gorgeous blonde green-eyed aviator that seemed to be the cockiest of all- Hangman. His southern drawl and kilowatt smile could make you weak in the knees if you let it.
Most of the squad was in The Hard Deck tonight, except for Coyote and Hangman. You'd be lying if you said that you didn't notice, but you didn't let their absence stop you from enjoying your night off with the squad. It was Bob's shot in the game of pool you were playing; it was Phoenix and Bob against you and Rooster. You weren't losing terribly, but that was only thanks to Rooster's skill set.
Penny waved at you from the bar, catching your attention. "Be right back," You excused yourself, handing the pool cue to Rooster.
"A bit preemptive," She smiled, pushing a tray of alcohol toward you. "I'm happy to see you enjoying yourself. It does my momma heart some good. You work hard." Penny was a family friend; you had always known her as 'Aunt Penny' growing up, so when your mom called her and said you needed a fresh start, she offered you a job and a place to stay. She wasn't quite old enough to be your mom but was there any time you needed her.
"Thank you," You smiled back at her, "They are pretty great." You looked back over your shoulder at them. Rooster held the pool cue up in your direction with a smile.
"Go," Penny said, "take the tray with you."
You picked it up and carefully carried it through the crowded bar before setting it on the table next to where you were playing.
"We always have to wait in line," Bob almost whined.
"Perks," You shrugged with a smile before handing him a full beer.
Rooster exchanged the pool cue in his hand for the beer you were giving him. "Thanks," He smiled down at you.
"This is my preemptive request for forgiveness when we inevitably lose this game." You laughed.
You walked past him and leaned against the table, examining your shot options; none of them looked easy. The bell above the door rang in the background, alerting the bar to new patrons. Walking around the table, you tried to get a different angle for a shot you thought you might be able to make.
The change didn't make a difference, so without any more delay, you bent over the table and took the shot. When the white cue ball made an impact, it barely budged the solid-colored ball. Your head hung in disappointment as you turned around.
"Hey, it's okay." Rooster squeezed your shoulder, trying to cheer you up. "You'll get it next time."
Rolling your eyes, you laughed, "I think I'm running out of next time."
"Well, well, what is going on here?" It was a deep smooth southern drawl coming from behind you. You bit your lips together to prevent a smile from creeping onto your face.
"Bagman," Phoenix replied bitterly. Hangman rolled his eyes at her remark. "Hey, Coyote." She sounded more pleasant when she greeted his cohort.
You had turned around, looking at him now, surprised to see he was also in civilian clothing; the whole team was tonight. His dark blue T-shirt clung tightly to his chest and biceps, accentuating his muscles.
"Hello, beautiful," He winked at you.
"Hey," You smiled back at him.
"Want our table?" Omaha asked Hangman. "We're heading out for the night."
"Coyote, wanna play?" He asked.
"I might finally win, so sure," Coyote smirked.
"We will hold it for you while you go to the bar," Fritz spoke.
With the distraction of Hangman and Coyote gone, your game resumed. Phoenix and Rooster had both lined up and shot perfectly. Pool was a game you clearly did not have the skill set for. Bob was lining up his shot when they returned to their table.
"I have got an idea," Hangman spoke, coming back to stand next to the tables.
"This outta be great," Rooster rolled his eyes.
"We'll play the losing team." He spoke again.
"Oh no," You spoke up, "After this, I am definitely done. You've already endured enough losses on my behalf." You finished looking at Rooster.
He smiled at you, opening his mouth to speak.
"Partner switch," Coyote spoke in the background, cutting off Rooster.
"I'm sure I can turn your luck around," Hangman looked at you. "You just need the right partner, and I can promise you that isn't Rooster."
He was arrogant, that's for sure. But you had seen him play pool far too many times now. He was damn good at it.
"Um," You hesitated, wanting to take him up on his offer, purely to spend time with him, but you didn't want to hurt Rooster. "I don't think that's a good idea."
"No, he's right," Rooster spoke, staring down Hangman. "let's do it."
"Well, why don't you wait and see how bad I am before you even agree to this." You spoke.
"It won't make me want you any less," Hangman smirked.
"It's your shot." Bob broke into the conversation.
"Great," You groaned.
You picked up your glass, still half full, and downed the liquor before turning to the table. You could feel everyone's eyes on you as you stared down the table, looking for a shot. There were fewer balls this time, making it easier to see the possibilities. You wanted the attention to end, so you lined up the easiest shot you could find. It was worse than your last shot. The cue ball barely tapped its intended target.
"See," You turned, looking at Hangman, "Bad doesn't begin to cover it."
He smirked, a twinkle of mischief in his emerald-green eyes, "No," He stepped closer to you, reached out, and tucked a stray strand of hair behind your ear, "I can work with that."
Your cheeks flushed, and you couldn't hide the gasp that escaped your lips. Your head was getting foggy. There should be no way one man could have that kind of effect on you. But here you were, weak in the knees and stomach in knots.
"I think I need another drink." Rooster grumbled before walking away.
"I'll be over here," Hangman stepped backward, still looking at you, "waiting for you."
You turned your back to him, trying to clear your mind, his words said one thing, but his eyes and body language made them seem like they meant something else. Phoenix wore a look of disappointment on her face. You could only assume it was due to the exchange she had just watched.
Standing there silently, you watched absentmindedly while the game finished playing out. Groaning each time your turn came. You could feel Hangman's eyes roam over you every time. It seemed like once the initial trash-talking between the group had passed, everyone settled down, and the laughter resumed. When Bob sunk the final ball to end the game, you felt a combination of relief and nervousness.
Before the other game could start, you returned to the bar to get another drink. You'd never been a big believer in liquid courage, but if there was any time to start believing in it, that would be right now. You exchanged a quick conversation with Penny before returning to the pool table. Rooster and Coyote were racking the balls while Hangman leaned against a stool watching over them.
"Alright, Hangman. I hope you are prepared to lose what I can only assume is a perfect winning streak." You said, coming to lean on the table next to his stool.
"Stop," He grinned, turning to face you, "Please, call me Jake. I've lost before, only on rare occasions involving illness or fatigue."
You rolled your eyes, smiling back at him. "Well, Jake," You emphasized his name, "I hope you'll forgive me when you lose."
"You want to break?" Coyote turned to ask you.
"Uh, that's an awful idea," You turned to look up at your partner, "Jake, please don't make me."
He laughed; it was a beautiful sound, "I'll never make you do anything you don't want to." He moved off the stool and headed towards the table.
And just like that, the game was on. True to his word, Jake never seemed to get upset with your awful skills. Occasionally he would help you with your shot by standing next to you and pointing easy ones out or changing your grip on the pool cue. Each time he came to your aide, he seemed to get closer, and his hand would linger a little longer. With his help, you did hit a few balls, they didn't go into a pocket, but they did at least move an inch or two.
The game seemed to fly by compared to the previous rounds. Before you knew it, only a few balls were left on the table, and it was your turn.
"You just need a little more oomph in your shot, that's all," Jake spoke, coming to stand next to you. "Here, let me show you," His hand slid down your back sending shivers up your spine. "Here," his voice was soft as he leaned over you, his hand laying on top of yours as you gripped the cue.
You couldn't focus on a single thing he was explaining, distracted by the heat radiating from him, engulfing every inch of you he touched. Your body reacted to his instructions, and you watched as the ball sank into the pocket. The clatter was enough to snap you back into the moment, turning to look at him like a giddy schoolgirl. When you turned to look at him, he didn't step back; you found yourself chest to chest with him, your breath hitched in your throat as you smiled up at him.
You could hear chatter between Rooster, Coyote, and the rest of the squad in the background. But it all sounded like a dull rumble as you looked into Hangman's eyes.
"See," He stated, grinning down at you. "You just needed the right partner."
"You probably could have done that earlier in the game," You countered, trying to hide the effect he had on you.
"Yes, but then you couldn't say that you sunk the winning ball." He beamed with pride.
"We won?"
He nodded in response, taking the pool cue from your hand and laying it across the table behind you.
You didn't know a single pool rule other than hitting the ball in the hole. You always counted on someone to tell you if you were aiming for a stripe or solid color. You turned your head to look at your opponents. Rooster already had his back to you and was focused on talking to the rest of the group.
"We're playing Phoenix and Bob," Coyote said, pulling your attention back to the room. "Table's yours."
You turned back to the aviator still pressed against you. The longer you looked into his emerald green eyes, the foggier your head got. "I think I need some air." You spoke softly, unable to catch your breath.
Jake took half a step back, letting you pass him. His hand reached out to grab your own, interlacing his fingers with yours; he led you towards the back deck. You didn't object or pull away, just let him lead the way. If you were honest with yourself, you would have followed him anywhere he led. If you were more coherent, you would have noticed the gaze of his entire squad and your aunt, Penny, following your motions.
There wasn't a word exchanged between you until you passed the deck and were well into the sand, "where are we going?" You giggled.
He chuckled, "away from the noise. Here is good."
You half expected him to drop your hand; instead, you sat down on the sand. The soft breeze tousling your hair and the smell of salt in the air.
The whole night had taken a turn you weren't anticipating. Sure, Jake had been flirting with you since the night he showed up at the Hard Deck, but you assumed he was like that with all the girls. You hadn't witnessed him flirting with other girls, but surely, he was? Your head was swimming in thoughts. There was no space between you; if you were sitting any closer, you would have been sitting on his lap. You leaned your head onto his shoulder; you knew you should say something but didn't know what.
"Jake," You spoke his name softly.
"Yeah, doll?"
You smiled at the term of endearment, "I'm a babbler; if you don't say something soon, it's going to happen."
He chuckled, "I don't think I'd mind that one bit." He picked your intertwined hands up and rested them on his thigh, his thumb rubbing circles against the back of your hand. "I've never met a woman like you. All the places I've been, no one has captivated me like you."
"I'm not sure how to take that."
"It's a good thing, I promise." He paused for a moment; you weren't sure if it was for dramatic effect or if he was thinking of what to say next. "You're beautiful and intelligent, sarcastic, and witty enough to not only put up with me but do it right back."
You laughed, realizing he probably hadn't met many people, especially women, that could hold their own against him. Most were probably too captivated by his charm and good looks. Though, Phoenix did a pretty good job.
You weren't going to tell him that it didn't matter what came out of your mouth, snarky, witty, or otherwise; you were still weak in the knees every time he spoke.
"I'm sure you say that to all the girls, Hangman." You spoke, trying not to inflate his ego.
"I wish I could say that I did. But you are the most exquisite person I've ever interacted with."
You were thankful the only light around you was from the moon. It was dim enough that he most likely would not be able to see that your cheeks were burning from the blush.
"Did you just call me exquisite?"
He laughed, "yeah, I guess I did." He picked up your intertwined hands and gently kissed your knuckles. "I mean it, though."
You pulled your head back to look at him; while the lighting was dim, you could see the sincerity in his expression. The cocky charade had fallen, leaving a vulnerable Jacob Seresin in the pale moonlight. A beautiful sight that you were confident not many people had been blessed enough to see.
Before you could lose your gumption leaned up, pressing your lips to his. It was a chaste but sweet kiss and all the invitation he needed. He had a hold of your hips in one fluid motion, and you were straddling him on the beach. Jake's hands lingered on your hips under the hem of your shirt, the heat from his skin burning against your waist. Your fingers threaded through his short hair, grounding you through the fury of passionate kissing.
You were breathless when the kiss finally broke; you buried your face into the crook of his neck, trying to catch your breath.
"That's probably not what you had in mind when you said you needed air." Jake joked.
You kissed his neck, "the opposite, actually." You pulled back to look at him. "I expected to come out here alone. Clear my head, listen to the waves, maybe actually catch my breath." You chuckled.
"I mean, I can go inside." He raised an eyebrow at you, unable to hide the smirk on his face. He kissed the pulse point on your neck before kissing your jaw, "but only if that's really what you want."
"Don't you dare."
He kissed you again.
"Hangman," You heard Coyote yelling.
"Y/N" Rooster yelled. "We want a rematch."
You pulled back to look at Jake, hesitant to leave this setting. You were too happy at that moment, afraid you'd never experience it again.
"I promised I wouldn't make you do anything you didn't want to," Jake spoke softly, rubbing his hand soothingly across your back. "I'm happy to ignore them if that's what you want."
Shaking your head, "We should go." You agreed reluctantly, climbing off his lap.
"Let me help you," He stood up, reaching out his hands.
You took them graciously.
"You know they're going to be a nightmare to deal with now, right?" Jake spoke, intertwining your hands again.
"Natasha is going to hate me." You muttered.
"Not a chance; Phoenix loves you. We all do."
You looked up at him, smiling, holding on to his forearm with your other hand, stabilizing yourself as you made it to the deck. "Are you ready for this again, partner?"
He grinned, "I was born ready. You are, too, now that you have the right partner." He bent down and kissed you one last time before re-entering the bar.

Even in his peripheral, Jake could see the woman pout. Wait, he frowned, nearly turning and asking right then, what did Roo mean off the market? He was seeing someone?
takin' my heart out (of its zone of comfort) by tearsricochets {T}
Javy, who is still holding on to Bradley like they’re best friends, shakes his head. “Sorry, boss man, I walked all over set. This Tanner dude just isn’t here.” Who the fuck is Tanner? He tries to convey this question to Javy with his eyes, but the actor is not paying a lick of attention to him. He’s looking at the man in front of them, who is instead looking at Bradley like the brunette is the sole cause of every problem in his life right now. “Then who the hell is this guy?” As of finally noticing their boss was no longer pacing in front of them, or that he was suddenly getting louder in tone, Natasha and her friend look up at the new additions of their group. Bradley pretends not to notice the blonde taking an appreciative look at him, but he’s a simple man and absolutely preening under the attention. “This is Bradley,” he gives a meek way to the man burning holes in his head. “And he’s going to fill in as my other half today.” “Excuse me?” He’s going to what? OR: the one in which Bradley is not an actor, but he is going to film a music video for the hot singer

There's a hurricane headed toward San Diego and Rooster gets sent to a nearby aircraft carrier to help move planes back on land before it sails out to sea. Too bad the storm has other plans.
Love Makes My World Go Round by KatofKanals {E}
Jake Seresin had essentially been having babies for the better part of a decade—enough of them to necessitate a car with three rows of seating. At almost 40, he was definitely done with that phase of his life. His husband, Bradley Bradshaw, however, might just disagree.
top gun missing scenes by teacupivy {E}
the whole time, under the lights
Jake "Hangman" Seresin is unraveling the mystery that is Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw, one thread at a time, if it kills him. They've been fighting and fucking for years, and everything comes to a head when they're recalled to Top Gun for a special training detachment and find themselves competing to be team leader.
as he falls from his perch
Bradley Bradshaw has a knack for losing people, either watching them go or running them off. Jake Seresin seems to just keep coming back.
spend my time trying not to feel it by lesbiseresin {M}
“There was a flier for what their upcoming events are. You know Halloween is on Thursday.” Fanboy waits for him to nod to go on. “They’re doing something every night this week. Different themes on different nights.” Bradley raises his eyebrows. “Let me get this straight. You’re trying to drag me to a costume party?” (alternatively: halloween, a gay bar, jake, and bradley. what could possibly be complicated about that?)
When Danger Comes Home (Don’t Ever let it Roost) by ToukoJalorda003 {M}
Bradley adored his job, and it had been his dream to go into law enforcement as a kid. He had everything he’d ever wanted - except for a romantic partner, but he’d never even consider dragging them into his dangerous personal life. …Until he took a smuggling case involving Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin, a known member of the city’s organized crime syndicate. Maybe he’d bitten off more than he could chew, this time.
 Favorite Poison by AncientAviators
Reprieve (Can You Ever Forgive Me?) {M}
“Exactly. If you wanna—” Maverick waves his hand, shaking his head— “I dunno, go start up a ranch somewhere, then do it. If you wanna go back to school, then go back to school, start a family, don’t start a family, get married or never settle down. Follow your dreams. Figure out if you even have any other dreams. Don’t…” He pauses, voice quieting, going soft and sincere, and Bradley’s chest aches a bit. “I don’t want you to ever limit yourself just because you feel like you owe it to your dad, Bradley.” A brief moment of silence. He knows he probably shouldn't ask, he might not be able to handle the answer. “Is that why you stuck around?” “Because of my dad, or because I felt like I owed it to yours?” Maverick asks, eyes coming back up, a small, sad smile on his lips. He holds Bradley’s gaze, the fire flickering on his face, the shadows dancing and disappearing before coming back in rapid succession. Or: Post-Mission healing, Jake and Bradley have history, and Bradley's trying to figure out his life.
The Hand That Feeds {M}
He kind-of wants to be, honestly. He really wants to be. He thinks he could spend the rest of his life with Bradley, doing just this. Coming home to each other, having dinner together, falling asleep in the same bed. Maybe it’s the few sips of wine he had or he’s just losing his mind, but he can almost imagine himself giving up flying for Bradley, if it meant more time with him. They got lucky, being kept as a squadron. Jake needs to thank Iceman, Maverick, and Cyclone. He’ll have to send gift baskets.

They both glance at the front door when it opens, Iceman and Maverick’s voices carrying from the entryway. Jake sits up, balancing on his elbows. When the silver-haired man sees them on the couch, he turns away from Maverick. “Get up and get dressed, Cyclone needs us for a meeting.” He briskly heads for the bedroom, ignoring his husband, who tries to continue whatever conversation they were having before they came inside. “Tom—” Bradley turns his phone off and blinks, stretching his legs and back and biting back a groan. “It’s Sunday, though?” “That’s what I told him,” Ice calls out dryly from the hallway.

On a dagger team road trip from California to Texas, Jake stumbles on an embarrassing secret hidden in Phoenix's bag, and it just won't leave his head. Not until he tries it for himself, and life is never the same again.

He doesn't miss his husband's thick, Texan drawl or his stupid smirk. He definitely doesn't miss the Alpha's scent of campfire, leather, and the grass after it rains. He doesn't miss tripping over Jake’s cowboy boots in the entryway of their home. He doesn't miss seeing Jake's Stetson hanging on the hook by the front door. Or the way he teases Bradley, trying to get a rise out of him. He doesn't- He misses Jake so much it hurts. Or Jake is sent across the world for a mission that takes much longer than they thought. He and Bradley don't handle it well.

“This year, the second annual season of the Dagger Squad Fantasy Football League, the loser, one Bradley Bradshaw, must face a fate worse than death.” Nat pauses for dramatic effect. “He must – drumroll, please, boys... — Successfully and wholly complete the Scholastic Aptitude Test, also known to some as the SAT.” As if that wasn't bad enough, the proctor being Javy's stupidly handsome best friend — who he keeps running into — adds to his misery. AKA: the one where Bradley's fantasy football punishment leads to an embarrassing crush of high school teacher Jake.

Dirty and Sweet (Get it on)
As things wind down after the mission, Rooster struggles with a need for something a little dangerous. That something absolutely should not – cannot – be Jake Seresin. But a little friendly competition and a lot of alcohol can go a long way to changing a man's mind. Hangman eyes Rooster’s empty beer, then his own. “How about that second shot?” “You tryna put me off my game?” “I don’t need you drunk to beat you, Rooster.” “What do you need me drunk for?”
feels good to know one thing
Jake doesn’t have the best relationship with his family, so when he’s summoned home for a special occasion, he calls up the one person he can trust to stick with him – after all, Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw has never ever lost a wingman. But he’s about to find out that getting shot down in enemy territory to save Mav was a whole lot easier than surviving a long weekend chez Seresin. “So it’s a big family thing?” Jake says carefully. “Everyone bringing their partners?” “Well of course, Charlie’s promised to bring the kids and I’ve not even met Matty’s new girlfriend—” “So that means I can bring someone?” Silence on the line. His mom is no fool. She knows when she’s been played. “Of course, Jakey,” she says. “You’re welcome to bring anyone you like.”
Will Get Fooled Again
Personal history isn’t enough to get in the way of professional opportunity, and when Lieutenant Commanders Jake Seresin and Bradley Bradshaw are selected to develop a pioneering Strategy Development Program at TopGun, working with the best young aviators the fleet has to offer, each figures they’re up to the challenge both in the air and on the ground. After all, a little rivalry can heighten the senses and bring out the best results… Or it can bring out something else altogether. “I’m not hard to impress,” Jake says, laying the cue down on the table. “I just don’t like people kissing my ass.” “Really?” Rooster says, and there’s a marginally lower register to his voice, a flicker of something crossing his expression that has excitement sparking in Jake’s gut. Walking round to take his drink from where he’s left it, Jake faces the others, resting the ass in question on the table and taking a sip of his drink, before answering. “Hero worship’s for people who don’t know their own worth.” He flashes a winning smile at his friends. “Some of us don’t need it.”

Training on the F/A-18 is everything he’s ever wanted, but Bradley’s dream becomes a nightmare when a new recruit joins the Golden Eagles. Blond hair, green eyes and a smirk so wicked he could rival the devil, Jake Seresin is everything Bradley hates – arrogant, brilliant and an unrelenting asshole. It’s almost as if he’s been sent there as Bradley’s own personal demon… All Bradley’s seen of the man so far is the back of his head – dirty blond hair cut short and sharp to the nape of his neck. At Nija’s invitation, Seresin turns to smile at the room, hand coming up in a lazy salute, his grin as sharp, as calculated, as the cut of his hair. His eyes are green, his dimples deep, and he’s far too pretty to be trusted.

pairing: Bradley Bradshaw x fem!reader
warnings: some suggestive themes, allusions to sex towards in the middle & towards the end. MINORS DNI 🔞 please. Bradley is adorable as ever.
a/n: one of my favorite songs ever and I just NOW realized this would work wonderfully with Bradley.
──────── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ─────────
You and your bestfriend were from out of town visiting her boyfriend of a few years, on a whim. Her boyfriend was a naval aviator who was stationed here in Miramar, San Diego, more known as "Fighter town USA". You practically knew everything about him because your friend wouldn't shut up. And here you were, on the back of her boyfriends truck, all alone. Despite the fact that there were dozens of people surrounding you, the feeling of loneliness, due to knowing no one besides your friend and her beau, was overwhelming.
Peering up from your drink, which you resorted to staring at rather than look at everyone having fun, you notice a tall, sandy brown haired man with the stupidest mustache you've ever seen, stare at you. After about 2 minutes of noticing him stare you down, you looked behind you, wondering if his friend or girlfriend was behind you. Nope, no one. He was still looking at you.
Bradley got invited to his friend, Jakes, party one night. They rarely got together after work, but Jake emphasized that Bradley must meet his girlfriend. Hesitantly, he obliged. After meeting her, she mentioned that she brought a friend and before Bradley knew it, 1 drink quickly turned into more.
♬ She was sittin' all alone over on the tailgate
♬ Tan legs swingin' by a Georgia plate
♬ I was lookin' for her boyfriend
♬ Thinkin', "No way she ain't got one"
He found his way through the crowd, stopping a few feet away from Jakes truck. He noticed one of the most beautiful girls ever, sitting on the back of his tailgate, drinking from her solo cup. Her legs were swinging back and forth. She proceeded to focus on her drink, not engaging with anyone. How could a pretty girl be all alone like this, he thought. Quickly figuring out this was Jake's girlfriends friend, he proceeded to eye her up wondering if he should go sit with her. She looked pretty lonely. He assumed you knew no one else here, which was accurate. After a few minutes she turned around, probably looking for someone. She looked confused as to why he was staring at her.
──────── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ─────────
♬ Soon as I sat down I was fallin' in love
♬ Tryin' to pour a little sugar in her Dixie cup
After Bradley worked up the courage to walk up to one of the prettiest ladies he's ever laid his eyes on, he quickly made haste and sat down next to her on the tailgate.
You were beyond confused as to why this hunk of a man sat down next to you rather than all the other prettier girls, but you decided to not question it much, and just let this once and a lifetime experience happen to you. Having guys come up to you like this or pay even a little bit of attention to you was rare to say the least. You only had 1 serious relationship, which you felt was embarrassing seeing as it's been years since you've been in bed with anyone.
"Hey pretty girl, what's your name?" he asks, as your cheeks go bright red at the compliment. How was this happening to you? He's even more beautiful up close. Continuing to stare at your cup, which is nearly empty despite savoring it for this long so you wouldn't have to get up.
"Y/N," you say shyly, "What's yours?"
"Rooster" he says, grinning.
"Rooster? Did your mother not like you or something?" you ask, giggling. Bradley swears his heart just skipped a beat. You have the most contagious little giggle ever.
"Oh no, Rooster is my call sign" he says, looking nervous after your face made an expression to the word 'call sign'. "My names Bradley."
"Call sign? So you're in the Navy too," you ask, sighing because you knew all about dating military dudes. You see your friends relationship and what deployments do to her. Spending numerous days with her, after Jake left for a deployment. She was depressed and wouldn't get off the couch for days. You were always there putting her back together.
"Yes, I'm a Naval Aviator, is that a problem pretty girl? he mutters, nervously playing with his hands. Shit did he really just manage to blow his shot? Good going.
"Well, I don't mingle with Naval Aviators, I see what that does to my friend every time her guy leaves." you confess, chugging back whatever's left in your cup.
"Well darlin', this doesn't have to be a permanent thing. You're friends with Hangman's girlfriend aren't you?" he asks, already knowing the answer but didn't want to seem like he was stalking you.
"Yes. I'm assuming you're friends with Jake then?" you chuckle. Jake got on your nerves quite frequently. He was always one of those show boat kind of guys, who you absolutely couldn't stand. But, he was your bestfriends 'soulmate' as she said, so you tolerate him.
"Oh yea, we go way back." he admits, smiling. He has a pretty smile. You could be fine with a one night stand with this man, if that's what he meant. You never did these things, so this was all new territory for you.
♬ Talkin' over the speakers in the back of that truck
There's music blaring from Jake's truck, he turned the music to his favorite station before he left with your friend. It's loud enough to hear the music clearly, but not too loud that you can't hear Bradley. You loved his voice, it was like music to your ears.
♬ She jumped up and cut me off
As soon as you heard the beginning beats to "Great Balls of Fire" by Jerry Lee Lewis, you quickly slid off the tailgate. Oh my god, this was your absolute favorite song. You probably look insane leaping off the truck that quickly, but who cares.
──────── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ─────────
♬ She was like, "Oh, my God, this is my song
♬ I've been listenin' to the radio all night long
♬ Sittin' 'round, waitin' for it to come on and here it is"
Bradley looked at you as you slid off the tailgate, your sundress slightly getting caught on the end of the truck. He quickly looked away as you turned around to look at him. He hopes you didn't catch him glance at you. His cheeks turned red almost instantly.
"Oh my goodness I love this song. I've been waiting for it to play." you state, dancing with the beat. You start singing along with it, realizing Bradley is also singing it. Little did you know, this was also his favorite song.
♬ She was like, "Come here boy, I wanna dance"
♬ 'Fore I said a word she was takin' my hand
♬ Spinnin' me around 'til it faded out
You decided to go out of your comfort zone, and grab Bradleys huge hand, making him stand up with you. "Let's dance Rooster." you say, smiling as you spun around with him. You both quickly fell into rhythm.
Bradley can't believe this seemingly shy girl just pulled him up to dance. How he's here dancing with the prettiest lady ever, to his favorite song, is beyond him. He's starting to worry that his "this doesn't have to be permanent" stance won't last long, if she keeps twirling with him like this.
♬ And she gave me a kiss
You can't tell if its the alcohol or your attraction to Bradley, or both, but you quickly pull his shirt in to kiss him. His lips were just as soft as you imagined.
"Wow, that was unexpected," he begins to say, "but I'm glad you did that before I was going too" he laughs as you rest your head against his chest. The height difference is pretty cute, you're about eye level with his chest.
♬ And she said, "Play it again, play it again, play it again"
"I hope that song plays again." you grin looking up at him. You're both swaying even though the song is upbeat.
He has his arms wrapped around your waist, staring down at your smile. You have the most beautiful smile he's seen. He becomes painfully aware of how 'whipped' he is.
"Me too, precious." he says, laying his head against your shoulder as you continue to dance. You too become painfully aware of how quickly you're catching feelings for him, wondering if you should just forget it all and risk it for this tall, handsome man.
♬ And I said, "Play it again, play it again, play it again"
──────── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ─────────
♬ I'd a gave that DJ my last dime
♬ If he would have played it just one more time
After you realized how long you two had been swaying, you pried yourself off of him. He looked sad at the sudden loss of comfort. You felt so safe in those few minutes, safer than you felt in years. Bradley wished the song would play again, just so you'd try and dance with him. It was getting kind of late, you haven't seen your friend in god knows how long, losing track of time with Bradley. Realizing you had no ride home if she left in her car with Jake, you contemplated asking Bradley to bring you home.
"Bradley, would you want to come back to my place?" you ask, hoping he said yes.
"Of course pretty girl" he says, placing a kiss to your lips, sending butterflies to your stomach. You loved when he called you that. It turned you into a giddy school girl. You turned Jake's car off and grabbed the keys, reserving them in your pocket for him to retrieve tomorrow morning.
You both made haste to Bradley's Bronco. You loved his truck, it was very unique. Seemed to fit his personality somehow.
Showing him the directions to your Airbnb, his hand rested on your thigh, just below where your sundress lands. Butterflies are going crazy in your stomach, and you can tell Bradley knows what he's doing to you.
"Stop teasing me, Roo" he grinned at the nickname from his call sign, also grinning because he's making you squirm over the littlest touch.
"Oh darlin, just you wait." he chuckles, moving his hand just a bit further. You were close to your place, hoping he'll step on the gas a bit.
♬ But a little while later we were sittin' in the drive in my truck
After he pulls into your driveway, your lips are attached once again. Breaking away from this steamy situation, Bradley turns up the radio. Hoping maybe your guys song will come back on and you can end the night even better.
♬ Before I walked her to the door
♬ I was scannin' like a fool AM, FM, XM, too
♬ But I stopped real quick when I heard that groove
♬ Man, you should have seen her light up
Scanning through the radio, hoping your song will come back on, Bradley starts to get defeated. You slouch back in the seat, not wanting this night to end. Once he got to the last station, preparing to turn his car off, by all odds you both heard the beginning of the song again. Your faces light up in happiness, the night doesn't have to end just yet.
♬ She was like, "Oh, my God, this is my song
♬ We've been listenin' to the radio all night long
♬ I can't believe that it came back on, but here it is"
"Oh my god it's our song again. What are the odds?" you beam, opening your door and meeting him in front of the beaming headlights.
♬ She was like, "Come here boy, I wanna dance"
"Dance with me again, Rooster." you grin, jumping at the beat of your song.
She had the biggest grin on her face, radiating pure sunshine. The headlights amplified her beauty even more. Bradley couldn't believe just how gorgeous she was, and here he was, standing with her in the driveway, a scene straight out of a fairytale.
♬ 'Fore I said a word she was takin' my hand
♬ Spinnin' in the headlights she gave me a goodnight kiss
Before he could say anything, you grabbed his hand and started spinning around with him in his headlights. It was a very romantic scene to anyone watching from their house.
Once the song was done, you kissed him again. This time, a goodnight kiss. He didn't want to let you go, nor did you. You gave him your phone to put his number in, once you finally parted your lips. After he returned your phone, you gave him a toothy smile. You were quickly falling more in love with a guy you swore you wouldn't.
♬ And I said, "Play it again, play it again, play it again"
♬ And she said, "Play it again, play it again, play it again"
──────── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ─────────
♬ The next Friday night
♬ We were sittin' out under the stars
♬ You should have seen her smile
♬ When I broke out my guitar
The following Friday, you two had plans to go out for dinner and sit by the beach. You weren't planning on staying in San Diego this long, but for Bradley? Anything.
You two quickly became close over the last week ish, texting and calling almost always when he was too busy to head over to you and your friends Airbnb. If you weren't convinced you were in love with each other, after tonight there would be no questions.
After dinner, which was lovely, you two laid on the back of his Bronco, staring up at the stars. You feel Bradley shift in his spot, reaching behind him. What you didn't know, was he was pulling out his guitar.
a/n: hi besties, I'm not sure if Great Balls of Fire can be played on the guitar, so just pretend that it can please lol
"Hey baby, I have a surprise for you." he states. As you sit up, you notice he's sitting on the edge of the tailgate with a guitar. As if this man can't get any more dreamy, he knows the guitar.
He starts playing Great Balls of Fire on his instrument. Which has absolutely captured your heart, even more than he already did prior to this stunt. You both sing along as he strums his guitar.
Once he's done, you feel the need to confess something you've been mustering up in your brain.
"Rooster," you grin, grabbing his hand to hold, "I think i'm falling for you, you big stud" you say, eyes watering.
"Oh darlin, so am i." he laughs.
"Take me to bed, or lose me forever." you exclaim, laughing as he tugs you off the tailgate.
"Show me the way home honey." he smiles, pressing a kiss onto your lips.

It had been 6 months since your ex had been sent to jail and as far as you knew he was still in there. You had tried to get back into the dating scene but each time you would freak out and cancel. Jake and Javy had always been there for you and they were there when you called crying in the middle of the night. There was one person however you had been becoming closer to as time went on. Who is that person? It’s none other than Bradley Bradshaw.
Bradley was the most protective of you that night and when you come into The Hard Deck that night and you went quiet, he knew something was wrong. He wasn’t going to lie, when you took your hoodie and the makeup smeared, he saw red. When they grabbed him and took him outside, he was furious. When Javy threw the first punch, he was glad but he needed to let his anger out and he was the one throwing more punches out of all of them. Since Bradley first laid eyes on you, you had caught his attention and he couldn’t help but become protected of you. Originally when he found you were friends with Jake, he thought it would be a great way to get under Jake’s skin but once he got to you know he had abandoned that idea and wanted to get to know you and eventually become a couple.
When you saw Bradley for the first time, you didn’t know what to think sure he was attractive and you wanted to know him more but you were too scared to due to dating Tony. Bradley was so sweet to you and you wanted nothing more to break up with your no good, now, ex-boyfriend and get with him but you stopped yourself and buried it. When they came back in from the fight and being questioned by the police you saw how his knuckles were the most bruised and roughed up. Jake and Javy’s were too but not like Bradley’s.
Ever since the event at The Hard Deck, Bradley had been more attentive to you and doing things for you even if you didn’t know you need it. It started out with simple things like him letting you borrow one of his pens during class when yours had suddenly run out of ink. He had also started to sit closer to you during lectures or walked you to your jet when you had to go up with him. He had also come over to your house with Jake and Javy to install a security system and alarms on the windows as well as changing the locks out. Bradley had also been checking up on you since the incident and it had gotten to the point where you were expecting and looking forward to hearing his voice or seeing his name pop up on your phone.
Whenever nightmares would arise you had been dialing his number and crying on the phone and then he would be over there comforting you. Jake would be called to but you would just tell him that Bradley was over but you wanted to let him know that you were ok. Jake didn’t know how to feel about you two becoming closer with each other. He knew Bradley wouldn’t hurt you but that didn’t stop him from worrying and becoming a big brother that he had titled himself one night at the academy, you were ok with that having been the only child and your parents weren’t the greatest it was nice to turn to someone you trusted. One night it was particularly bad. You had woken up in a panic thinking that Tony was back and out for revenge. You had woken in a cold sweat and labored breathing; you blindly grabbed your phone and called the only other number that you had memorized besides Jake’s and Javy’s.
“Bradley?” You asked in a shaky voice when the call went through.
“Y/N/N? What’s wrong?” Bradley asked taking in your shaky voice and it sounded like you woke him up.
“I woke you up. I’m sorry. Go back to sleep.” You said and were about to end the call but he stopped you.
“No, it’s ok. I would drop anything for you. What’s going on?” He asked and you could hear rustling as he sat up in bed.
“It was really bad. He came back.” Is all you said to him panic started to return to you.
“Who came back?” He asked and you started to sniffle and it was concerning Bradley “Storm?” He asked using your callsign.
“Tony.” Is all you said and he sighed and what you couldn’t see was him close his eyes and jaw clench. Your ex had you so scared that nightmares were forming.
“I’ll be over in a few.” He said and you shook your head.
“No, you don’t have to. Go back to sleep.” You said feeling guilty for waking him up.
“Storm, I’m coming over. I don’t want you alone right now.” He said and you nodded.
“Ok.” You said “Thank you.” You added you wanted to say ‘I love you’ but stopped yourself. You thought that nobody would love you after what you had been through but you were so wrong.
“You’re welcome, Storm. I’m always going to look out for you. I’ll see you in a few.” He said and then hung up the phone.
True to his word. Bradley was knocking on your door and you very eagerly went downstairs and opening the door and into his arms pressing your face into his chest, which he wrapped his arms around you and hugged you back and pressing his face into your hair. “It’s ok. I got you.” He said and you just melted into his touch. “Do you want to talk about it?” He asked and he felt you shake your head. “Do you want to go back to bed and cuddle?” He asked and felt you nod your head. You pulled away and led the way and when you reached your room you actually took in his appearance and he was in sweatpants and a t-shirt and his hair looked like he just rolled out of bed, which he did.
You climbed into bed and he followed suit. You both didn’t say word you scooted back into him and he wrapped his arms around and you slowly drifted off to sleep. He stayed awake until he felt your breathing even out. He loved you he really did “I love you.” He said once he knew you were asleep and kissed the back of your head and drifted off to sleep himself. It was the best night’s sleep you had gotten and you actually got to feel the loved touch of a man and not the harshness.
——————————————————————
The next morning you woke up early, too early to be getting up, to a warm comforting weight around you. You heard slight snoring and was about to freak out but then remembered what had happened and relaxed. You fell back to sleep until your alarm was going off. The weight was gone and you wondered why until the smell of pancakes and bacon rose up to your bedroom. You lazily got up and walked down to see Bradley in the kitchen cooking breakfast you smiled and walked over to him and hugged him from behind and he smiled. “Good morning. I thought that I would make you some breakfast before heading to the beach with the rest of The Daggers.” He said as he turned the stove off and then turned around and took you in his arms.
“That sounds amazing.” He said and then you did something that shocked both of you. You leaned up and kissed him and again to both of your surprise he kissed back. You both only pulled away when air was needed. “I’m sorry.” You said and began to pull away but he pulled you back and crashed his lips into yours. You both pulled way again for air.
“You don’t have to apologize. I’ve been wanting to do that for a while.” He said looking at you.
“I have too. I just never had the guts. Tony-“ He stopped you.
“Tony is in jail and can’t hurt you. He’s an asshole and can rot in jail. I’m here now. We can take this as slow as you want. I’m gonna teach you how a man is supposed to treat a woman and I’m gonna teach you to love again.” He said and your eyes welled up with tears and you hugged him tightly.
“Thank you so much.” You said and he just hugged you tighter. Breakfast was eaten and small talk was made. Then you were getting ready for the beach and then heading to his house for him to get ready. Once all that was done you headed to the beach. When you got there you both got out and he grabbed your hand and looked down at you smiling and you smiled back, this is what you had wanted all along.
——————————————————————
Jake had heard the Bronco pull up and looked up and saw Bradley and then looked over in the passenger side seat and saw you sitting there, he didn’t know how to feel about that but deep down he knew that Bradley would take care of you unlike that shitting ex of yours. He watched you walk hand in hand over to the group. You both greeted everyone and then Natasha was stealing you away because she too had noticed the hand holding and had a smirk on her face and you could see her trying not to squeal. Everyone had decided to play dog fight football and the others had gone over to the two of you but Jake held Bradley back.
“Don’t hurt her.” He told Bradley sternly and he looked at Jake.
“I would never do that.” Bradley said
“I’ve been with her from the beginning of everything especially Tony. I’ve seen the emotional and physical damage to her. She’s fragile.” Jake said and Bradley could see on his face that he was not playing around.
“Jake, I know she’s like a sister to you and Javy. I’ve seen the shit that Tony put her through. I love her so much. I was ready to kill Tony for her, my career be damned if it meant that it would protect her. I’m not letting her go or down. My mom and dad would kill me if I ever laid a threating hand on her. Mom didn’t raise me that way.” Bradley said and Jake nodded his head.
“I know which is why I trust you to be with her. If you dare lay a hand on her or break her heart. If she comes crying to me or tells me you did, and she will. I will make your life a living hell.” Jake said looking Bradley directly in the eye.
“You can count on me Jake. I’m not letting anything happen to her. I love her too much.” He said and Jake nodded again “We better get over there.” He added and began walking over to the rest. Jake watched him and when Bradley got there, he grabbed your face and kissed you and you wrapped you arms around his torso. Jake knew right then and there that Bradley was going to take care of you and help you learn to love again. Javy looked back at Jake and nodded and Jake nodded back both of them having a silent agreement that Bradley was the right person for you. They hadn’t seen you happy in a long time until you met Bradley.
Bradley was teaching you to love again and you were ok with it especially if it was from him.  With him, everything was perfect and nothing could harm you and if something did Bradley was there taking care of you. You had a feeling this was going to be the relationship that was going to last and you were looking forward to it.
