Urban Verbs were a new wave band that formed in Washington D.C. in 1977. They were fronted by Roddy Frantz, brother of Talking Heads drummer Chris Frantz.
In 1978, they performed with The Cramps at CBGBs, where they met Brian Eno in the audience. He offered to record some of their songs, but they were never released. Instead they eventually put out two singles on Warner Bros. Records in 1980 which totaled 5 tracks.
This particular clip is Brian Eno produced song “Next Question”, and it’s actually better than the version on their later releases. It’s unclear if the other Eno produced songs still exist at all; they might be lost forever. It was revealed in an online message board that a Boston radio station played the Eno demos on the air at some point in the early 80s, but that’s as far as we’ve got. So bask in this one. Eno himself likely doesn’t have them.
