in the heart of the sea is about the ill-fated voyage of the whaling ship that inspired moby dick. it’s a very good read, although now i understand why @thistleburr‘s shipmates give her odd looks when she reads it aboard.

and trevor noah’s born a crime is amazing. it’s both an autobiography and an exploration and explanation of apartheid for white and western audiences, and it’s a really great read!

yeah the upswing in new fans has been apparent and quite honestly it was exciting to note at first! if nothing else, there are still a lot of new people that are part of the Normal People Fandom which i very much appreciate and am glad for their presence but omg theres like a whole portion of my TL dedicated to star and megs acting like high school sweethearts this shit doesnt make sense 😭

it seems like a lot of them are either coming from the g1 cartoon -- which is the only continuity i can tolerate that pairing in to be fair given their relationship there is a fucking wholesome love-fest compared to literally any other cartoon or comic, as is the nature of being a saturday morning 80s cartoon made for the purpose of selling toys -- or they're coming from the idw comics. and the less said about rnegastar there the better 😀🪓

The DJD Play Pokemon

Tesarus, the resident gamer, starts playing first.  Tarn realizes that his team is walking around holding up their tablets randomly and flicking things and inquires what’s going on.  He starts playing with the intent that pokemon walks could be a good team building activity.  …Before long he is ridiculously competitive.

Helex’s top Pokemon are fire types.

Kaon’s top Pokemon are electric types.

Vos favours Dark and Steel types.

Tesarus won’t put his pokemon in gyms and it’s because the only ones he keeps are cute, soft, fluffy things like chanseys, jigglypuffs and clefairys. They have names like “snuggles” and “fluffy.”  Tesarus begs Tarn to PLEASE not tell the others.  

Tarn also has Clefables but his top Pokemon is a level 3000 singing Lapras that is in permanent residence in the gym at the DJD base on Messatine.

Nickel doesn’t play and is constantly grumbling about “That damn game making me extra work” when Helex walks off the end of a cliff trying to catch a snorlax.

Some of the Warworld crew play, and while Tarn is glad that Pokemon is giving his crew and Deathsaurus’s crew some common ground to bond on, Tarn doesn’t want to let the Warworld crew know that *he* plays, for fear of what they would think of him.  Deathsaurus doesn’t seem to show any interest in the game, and Tarn’s sure not about to ask him.

…Until Tarn finds to his horror that his Lapras has been kicked out and replaced by a level 3500 Dragonite owned by “KaijuEmperor”.

Not gonna lie some of these answers are sorta long (I apologize in advance) Anyway it’s all under the read more and thank you for sending the number question thingys!

2. What was your first experience with transformers?

When the first bayformers movie came out. I remember when my Dad told me they came into town to film (you can see the mill in the scene where Bumblebee stands up and sends a signal to the autobots and white sands missile range stood in for the desert of Qatar) and I was all “ew no transformers are for boys and I’m girl” and stuff like that. Cut to transformers now in theaters. I loved it. I loved the action and the big robots and megatron was the coolest thing in the world (screw bumblebee). I didn’t tell my parents that liked tfs and I completely surprised them with a Christmas list filled with a bunch of transformers toys (I only got the movie soundtrack lol)

8. If you were a transformer, what would you be? Why?

Probably a black and silver Vespa (they’re really small and I’m pretty short so I guess it goes hand in hand) I thought about this question a lot and I haven’t really decided because theres so much technology and vehicles out there. Too many choices!

14. If you could meet any character from any show, who would it be?  

It says show so this technically eliminates shows and comics. Gonna have to go with Knock Out because then we could talk about movies (reeaallyy interested in hearing his opinions on certain movies)

26. Who is the most hot transformer? 

(burst into flames because this answer is too hard) gonna have to go with my boy Vos. Blitzwing from TFA was a close shot (the german accent was a major factor) but I can’t resist a creepy sadistic scientist who jams his face onto his victims.
