sometimes you have to watch all of real madrid’s champions league goals from 2016-2022 in one non-stop 2 hour-long sitting to cope with The Horrors, and that’s okay,

About why people don’t like Olga …
This is going to be pretty long, sorry:
She does questionable press conferences like when asked how RFEF treats them, she was very neutral if not on RFEF’s side speaking positively despite varying opinions from other players and that has been a focal point in why people don’t like Olga.
The tweet she released after the el Classico where the Barca players rejected the call up, she talked about humility and class after Aitana refused to speak to Misa and the Barca fans attacking the RM players. I think it was unfair for the fans to attack the RM players because they were hamstrung into staying because of their playing licenses and it was hypocritical for the barca fans to attack RM players but not say anything when their own players went back, but oh well.
The goal she scored in WWC final, believe it or not a lot of the really psychotic Barca fans (and I mean psychotic) were unhappy that an RM player scored the goal and not a Barca player and were just unfairly criticising her especially after the Japan game, but that was a crap team performance in all honesty.
A lot of the English also don’t like after the goal she scored because they lost the WWC and also, after the Chelsea RM game in the UWCL they were very harsh after the penalty RM won because of the way it was won, even though Olga didn’t win the penalty but scored it and because Olga won POTM and not niamh.
The World Cup tax and how high she was placed but that also happened with Rapinoe and no one said anything so the switch up was wild. But every knows how much emphasis is placed on the WC so idk what they were mad about. And she had relatively good performances when she played with RM, but people don’t watch her or RM play and assume things. They also take one moment like her slipping over and blow it completely out of proportion and spam it, despite that being one fault in a relatively good performance.
In all honesty, it’s a bit over the top with all the hate, but some people really don’t like for doing her fucking job, which is playing football.
I’ve a been a fan of her since 2021 when I watched the el Classico UWCL quarters and the goals she scored and since then, despite some of the questionable things she’s done. She still seems like a very kind and happy person, she always takes pictures and signs things for fans even after losses and has even given fans her boots and jerseys on some occasions.
But at the end of the day she is a Spanish RM player and will get demonised for all her faults and mistakes despite all the good things she does that people don’t bother to look at.
So yeah that’s pretty much it from my side, take it with a grain of salt because it’s only one opinion.
thats crazy bc shes a RM player😭
thank you for clearing it up🙏

Absolutely love that the NLD, Man City vs Chelsea, Bayern vs Wolfsburg and Barca vs RM will all be happening on the weekend between the two legs of the UWCL quarter finals. Fuck player rotation, this is the spice we want to see!

It’s interesting that all these “leaks” about Magda and Pernille’s contracts are starting to come out (true or not). The both of them are two of the biggest names in women’s football and yet, in general, manage to keep tight lipped about their immediate plans. We know their general goals (i.e. UWCL trophy, medals, other future leagues in the distant future, possible retirement plans, etc.) but when recent contract issues come up, they’re very tight lipped.
Yet the one key time where leaks began to circulate was when Pernille wanted out of WOB and was locked in a very tight contract. It’s not unheard of for agents to let information “leak” in order to get leverage for their clients and I wonder if that’s the case with Magda and Pernille. More women athletes are starting to do this, too. I don’t think it’s not that Chelsea wanted them. I think it’s partially that Chelsea wasn’t giving them what THEY wanted. The court of public opinion is a strong factor in negotiations.
Also, I don’t see them going to Italy, Lyon (no doubt they knew about SBG’s situation BEFORE the article was released), RM, PSG, or the NWSL. They’re both in ‘Win Now’ mode. Especially since their primes are closing within the next 3-4 years. If Chelsea can give them what they want, whatever it is, it’s possible they may just sign 1 year deals and then see what 2024 holds. But who knows.
Yea who the fuck knows

so is it true that if madrid go through, the winners of this upcoming wsl season would have to grow through qualifying like this?
no 🤦‍♀️ first of all, the uefa coefficients for the next season are already determined and england are indeed 4th. however, the only way the wsl winners won't automatically play the group stages is if the winner of the uwcl isn't also a winner of one of the top 3 leagues.
so example: for this season spain were the 4th league and therefore shouldn't have gotten automatic qualification. however, lyon were the winners of both the uwcl and the top league, they couldn't take two spots so one of them went to the next available team - the winners of the 4th ranked league, barcelona.
another thing is that the way the coefficient is formed isn't as simple as one of the teams going through today and it is quite likely anyway that spain will overtake england (as they did last season) because of barcelona's strong performances alone. does that make a bit more sense now? a wsl team getting knocked out 'early' is really nothing to fear and I haven't even touched on how it would be the second round of the champions path the winners would play in that unlikely event and the teams there aren't nearly as strong as city, rm, arsenal etc. so it shouldn't be a problem

Weir scoring against her old team for RM is the best revenge of all. She's so good. Too bad ACFC couldn't get her. I hope ManShitty get knocked out of the UWCL again 😁
Love it

Will Real Sociedad have to play play-offs to get into UWCL group stages like RM and Levante last year?

I wish I could un-recall how we almost had it all (ASSE - Lyon Postgame Thoughts)
I think these games are actually really hard to get a read on how a player is really doing, because there is such a disparity between the two teams. It's also why I am reluctant to really call this a rivalry. It's not really one, not when it is so one-sided, not with the gulf between them. ASSE doesn't have Lyon's players or budget or means, so to pretend it's even a fair fight to begin with - it's not, it's just not.
It's hard to measure Lyon's performance because ASSE was in the second division last season, and are back again this year. ASSE have constantly flirted in recent seasons between being promoted to the first division and the second, whereas Lyon has only had to find themselves in competition with PSG for the leader position. They're just not at the same level.
It's a bit of my bone to pick, too, like when people pretend that Barcelona (W) and RM (W) is a Clasico. Sure, in theory, but realistically it's not. It can't be a rivalry when it's so one-sided. There's perhaps a bit more bad blood between Barcelona and RM than there is between Lyon and ASSE, with the latter feeling performative at best. It's PSG who brings out Lyon's genuine dislike of a team, not ASSE.
So what did we learn? That some players perform well against mediocre teams. So what? It doesn't really tell us how they will do against bigger teams, against better oppositions, in tougher circumstances.
Okay, so Becho scored a hat trick. Cool. ASSE was still playing in the second division last season, so it's not telling me she will step up against actual position. Okay, Marozsan defied the odds and lumbered up and down the pitch for 90 minutes. I still think she's one of the players we should cut loose. Same with Majri, except she also has the distinction of having been slightly worse than Marozsan.
As much I want to rip into the players I've just mentioned, they weren't the worse ones on the pitch. For me, that was Endler. That kind of mistake was amateur at best. I don't care if it's only goal Lyon conceded in the game, it should not have been conceded at all. You cannot use the argument of miscommunication with Renard when they have been playing together for a while now. This wasn't some new pairing. Endler has no excuse for conceding that.
I think the finishing could have been better, but again, it was against such a lower caliber team that it's hard to say anything more than "it should have been better." It's not like it was a stellar defense in front of them, it's just the choices the forwards were making were bad. Would it have been more costly against a better team? Probably.
We avoided major injuries and can now look forward to the stress of a UWCL semifinal against PSG. Now that's a proper rivalry, and will be more telling about which players are capable of stepping up when necessary.

It’s the way RM only managed to score a point this uwcl by paying the ref 💀

Just my two cents but don't think Russo would go to Real Madrid. It's a less competitive league and the chances of winning a trophy are practically zero with Barca as competition. Unless United somehow don't qualify for UWCL it's not really a step up.
No I don't believe either it was just a truthful answer that RM might still be looking at her and while I still believe it's doubtful she'll stay unless utd get more competitive with there contracts I think she could leave utd wherefore I don't know

Any bold predictions for the season?
Not sure how bold any of this is but:
Primera top 4:
Barca
Atleti
RM
RS
Top goalscorers in Primera will be Asisat and Geyse (if Asisat heals in the timeline given)
UWCL final 4 (not in any particular order)
Barca (*might be wishful thinking)
Lyon
Rosengard
Wolfsburg
Lyon will win their league. Wolfsburg will win their league. Arsenal will win their league. Juventus obviously will win their league.
Ballon D'or winners: Alexia Putellas and Karim Benzema
Top 2 behind the winners: Alex Popp and oo I don't know - maybe Katoto? Salah and de Bruyne for the men.

not to mention that it's probably worse for Real Madrid anyway since they have prequalifiers to UWCL and therefore more games lmao
but RM aren't the best team in the world, who cares about them 🤪 while we're at it, I think the other clubs in the liga f should come together and pay for a proper medical team for barca, you know, out of respect for being allowed to play against the greatest team to ever exist 🤡
