ST5 possible timeline
Let's see what I remember that's actually confirmed from pictures and other stuff
Ep. 1 (100% confirmed) :
We know that Will has a nightmare/flashback of the UD
Linda Hamilton has some scenes
Steve and Jonathan do whatever they are doing in the pre-vis with that thing that becomes green instead of red
Steve and robin are together inside the radio station eating snacks (?) from the pic. Ross posted of day 1
Robin, Will, El, Nancy and Joyce are in a scene together
Ep.2 (100% confirmed) :
We know for sure Karen is in the episode and probably at the Hawkins Memorial Hospital
Lights at the hospital flicker like the Demogorgon is there or vecna etc
Either ep. 1 , ep. 2 or ep. 3...
but in the same time frame:
Morning:
Mike is at his house in his room thinking about something
Dustin and Mike get in a fight at school with the jocks friends of Jason - Dustin's shirt gets ripped
Steve, Robin, Nancy, Jonathan and Murray are taking stuff from the supermarket and they steal a truck with food in it
Steve and Jonathan (?) make the antenna on Steve's car
Someone is studying radio stuff at school (?)
Evening:
Dustin goes to Eddie's grave to talk to him after this because he has the shirt like that
Mike goes to El to talk on the roof of the radio station
Something with action happens, they get attacked, Joyce and Hopper are both at the radio station and probably Will is there too
El is fighting with somebody and the tie she has breaks - she has the same outfit on from the radio station
Robin goes to the Hawkins memorial hospital and Vickie is there too
Night:
Unless it's a vision - Will is at the radio station under the antenna at night ( he's probably the one that gets attacked because he's on the tower opposite from where Mike and El are sitting and talking...)
El is near the UD vines with the same outfit and blood on her nose... Maybe she's in the upside down but I'm not sure because the vines could be invading Hawkins
Not clear yet to me in which episodes these things happen but probably all either before ep. 4 or in ep.4 :
Vecna vision or nightmare of Will at school in the field with the bike
Possible vision: someone is in the woods with the red light and near Castle Byers with the vines all around
Little Will & grown up Will are inside Castle Byers in the upside down, probably a flashback or vision/nightmare
Someone in the woods gets attacked by someone with powers and gets thrown into the air
Nancy is inside the bunker at the radio station dressed how she's dressed when she's with the others taking the food from the truck
Hopper and others are at the old dumpster probably to train and learn how to fight
Someone gets hurt at a leg when they are inside the Hawkins memorial hospital
Karen takes a bubble bath and drinks wine (ep. 1 ?)
Something is being filmed at the Wheeler's house
Will looks cool with his jacket and haircut, he's inside the radio station and Jonathan is there too... Jonathan seems dressed like he was dressed when he was at the radio station with Murray, Nancy and Robin and Steve near the truck of the supermarket so this could be in the first episodes ? Will is dressed with his green shirt and the undershirt so differently from when he's at the mansion and also from when he's at the farm (in which he has the same shirt with the stripes-> ep. 4 prob)
Mike, Will, Lucas and Dustin are at the farm and do the hand group thing
Robin, Will and Mike are at a farm together (the farm scenes are probably ep. 3 or 4)
El and Will (same stripes outfit from the radio station tower and the farm without the jacket) are at the mansion with the pool, Will looks sick and El has a scene screaming
Joyce and Hopper arrive with the blue van and maybe they make a pole in the street fall down by speeding with the car
Police or government are involved in the mansion scenes
Jonathan and Nancy are there at the mansion too, Steve's car is there with the antenna so maybe they drive it there (?)
Lucas is with Max at the hospital and makes her listen to music (?)
Either ep. 2, 3 or 5 (not clear to me but I've been told they were filming those but also idk for sure)
The characters are attacked by something at the radio station, there's an action scene where Will (or someone else) screams to Steve (or someone else) to RUN !!!
Notes: The mansion seems to be a simple house of rich people
Ep. 4 (100% confirmed) :
Dustin, Nancy, Jonathan and Someone else we don't know fall in the Upside Down from the farm with a car that has the antenna in the middle
Mansion = orange
Farm = green
Probably the same episode because of the outfit
That's it... I for sure forgot something but I'll add later when I have time to review all the leaks we got!

“Complains To Price Of Toronto Police,” Toronto Star. November 16, 1932. Page 3. ---- Frank Regan Retained by Relatives of Albert Dorland, Now in ‘Pen’ --- Frank Regan (K.C.), barrister, today sent a letter to Hon. W. H. Price, Attorney-General, making serious charges against Toronto police in connection with the case of Albert E. Dorland, now serving a five-year term in Kingston penitentiary for carrying offensive weapons.
On April 7, 1930, Dorland and William Toohey, alias Charles Gordon, were arrested as Dorland was about to hold up the Royal Bank at the corner of Church and Wellesley Sts.
The men appeared in police court on April 8 when Dorland was sent to the penitentiary, but the charges against Toohey and a third man, Ernest Bird, were withdrawn.
Mr. Regan has been retained by relatives of Dorland and the allegations in his letter to Mr. Price are based on statements made to him by Toohey. Toohey is now in jail in Hamilton awaiting removal to the Ontario reformatory to begin a sentence of one year definite and two years less a day indefinite for theft, four charges of forgery and uttering and breach of recognizance.
May Investigate If the Regan letter to the attorney-general contains definite charges, the matter will be dealt with forthwith by the police commission, Mayor Stewart declared to-day upon hearing of the letter.
The report of the arrest as published in The Star of April 7 1930, makes lively reading and is as follows: ‘Headquarters detectives shortly before three o’clock this afternoon apprehended two former inmates of Kingston Penitentiary in a stolen car with sawed-off guns resting on their knees, after the men had charged head on into the police car and detectives had fired several rounds from their pistols. It is believed a hold-up of the Royal Bank, Church and Wellesley Sts., was frustrated.’
‘The driver of the car, W. E. Dorland, of Toronto, rolled out into the street. The detectives thought they had killed him, while the other man, named Gordon, threw up his hands and surrendered. The car with Dorland and Gordon was in a lane-way just to the each of Church St., on the south side and started to drive up the lane-way when the detectives’ machine proceeded along the street. Suddenly the bandits drove their car at full tilt into the police vehicle, occupied by Detective-Sergeant George Tift, James Thomson, Pat Hogan, Archie McCathie and Driver Carick.
‘The detectives, finding the men with guns on their knees, jumped at the other machine, which was blocked by the police car, drew their pistols and opened fire.
Thought Dorland Dead ‘Two shots shattered the front windshield whizzing by Dorland at the wheel, one embedding itself in the back seat. Another ripped through the right side and two more crashed through the glass of the left door. Detective-Sergeant Thomson, standing on the running board of the police car, was jammed against the rear door of it in the collision. His leg was injured and the door of the police car was ripped clean off and fell to the street.
‘The detectives then surrounded the car and Dorland fell from his seat to the sidewalk. ‘We thought he was dead,’ said Detective Tuft. Then Gordon was also placed under arrest. The men, with their shotguns, were brought to police headquarters. Detective-Sergeant Thomson, limping from injuries to his leg, went up to the M.O.H.’s department and had it examined.
‘Later police announced that Dorland would be held on a charge of conspiracy to rob a bank. Dorland just missed death in some remarkable manner. At headquarters he told the police one bullet seared his forehead, burning the skin on his temple. ‘It was a close call – I’ll say,’ he exclaimed.
‘Inspector of Detectives Murray told The Star that Dorland admitted he was going to rob the bank. When we caught them they begged for mercy, stated the detectives. ‘We were rolling on the streets on top of them until we finally subdued them. When they saw our car they rushed out of the lane right at us, head on, and hit us sideways. Their radiator was crushed in. We saw their shots guns and then opened up on them and they quit cold. We cannot, understand, how they missed being hit.’
‘The police had been warned an attempt was about to be made to rob a bank on Wellesley St. and drove there and waited.’
That official recognition has been taken of Mr. Regan’s letter is indicated by the fact that at about 11 a.m. to-day Sergt. of Detectives McMahon, in charge of the city hall detective branch, came to the office of the police court clerk and secured the original complaint and the records of the conviction of Dorland.
‘I am too busy to discuss this matter now,’ said Chief Draper. ‘See the chief inspector.’
‘I have received the letter but have not read it carefully enough to make any statement,’ said Attorney-General Price.

At around ten o'clock in the evening of July 6th 1988 the Piper Alpha oil platform in the North Sea was rocked by a huge explosion.
The 30th anniversary of the disaster will be remembered at a special memorial service tonight in Aberdeen at the Piper Alpha Memorial Garden in Hazlehead Park. The names of all 167 men who lost their lives on July 6 1988 will be read out during the ceremony to be attended by their relatives, friends and representatives from the oil and gas sector.
The vast human tragedy of that day sent shockwaves around the world and forced the industry to take a painstaking look at its practices. On that night, there were more than 220 men on board Piper Alpha, with most in the accommodation section and more than 60 working on the night shift.
After a gas leak on the North Sea platform a series of explosions followed and, minutes later, it was engulfed in a fireball. By the time the rescue helicopters arrived, flames were reaching 300ft and could be seen from 70 miles away. The smoke and fire made evacuation by helicopter or lifeboat impossible, and many people gathered in the accommodation area. Remaining there meant certain death. With the platform ablaze and exploding, some men jumped off from 175ft above the North Sea. Others plunged from lower levels or clambered down ropes and hoses before plummeting into the water. Poundland to stop selling kitchen blades because of rise in knife crime
There were only 62 survivors that night in what remains the world’s worst offshore disaster. An inquiry led by Lord Cullen opened in Aberdeen in January 1989, ended in February the following year, and published its report of several hundred pages nine months after that. It led to North Sea safety being shifted from the Department of Energy to the Health and Safety Executive, and meant that automatic shut-down valves were made mandatory on rigs to starve a fire of fuel.
It's not often I would name all those that perished, but on the 3oth anniversary I think it is only fitting to do so, RIP to the 167......

OUaT 6x16 – Random Thoughts & Observations
It’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these, and I am a little rusty. These are just the first thoughts I had this morning and some musings and speculation that come up as I think about the episode.
I think working on a project I set for myself over the weekend helped get me excited about posting again. I think Jaime Murray might have something to do with it as well, I loved her on Warehouse 13 and I cannot wait to see her and Bobby playing off of each other.
Random Thoughts:
A heart rip! I just assumed Gideon was a little shit and a heart rip never even crossed my mind. It’s interesting that for as long as Gideon was in the Dark Realm, and the fact that he seemed to at least acquiesce to the Black Fairy’s way of doing things and not actively trying to stop her, that his heart was so pure, not a smidge of darkness that I saw. Loved the parallels with the male line of the family: Malcolm, Rumple, Bae, and Gideon – all talk a good game, but when push comes to shove they will make the easy choice rather than the hard one.
With the story parallel between Jasmine and Gideon (i.e., it is up to the hero to defeat the villain, not the savior), it remains to be seen whether Gideon will be the one to break the family cycle.
Oh the irony – in wanting to stop their son from going dark, Gold and Belle actually have been helping the Black Fairy all along.
Loved the visual of Gideon using the charged sword to create a portal that looked like a star for the Black Fairy to escape the Dark Realm to SB. But the method used the charge the sword is interesting – in 6x13 Gold was able to drain Blue’s magic to restore the sword but, as far as we know, that did not kill Blue. But to be of use to the Black Fairy, the sword needed to absorb the savior’s magic and to do that the savior had to be dead, or, at least, mostly dead.
I’m wondering if Emma’s magic was needed to create the portal because light magic was used to banish the Black Fairy. Although, if that was the case, shouldn’t Blue’s magic have been enough, presuming Tink was right and Blue is the one who banished the Black Fairy in the first place?
And what does this mean for the final battle? The sword is clearly still at play and will be coming up again. Now that it’s been used to successfully create the portal for the Black Fairy to escape, will it need to be recharged again? Is that where the prophesized savior’s death comes in – Emma must “die” again to charge the sword and use it to create another portal to send the Black Fairy back to the Dark Realm?
Interesting that Killian was the Black Fairy’s first target and that she hasn’t made a play to get Henry out of the way too. Certainly the Black Fairy wants the savior in a weakened state, and banishing her TL, who we’ve seen time and again be the one to give Emma confidence in herself and her magical ability, to another realm would be one way to do that.
Of course, Emma wasn’t showing signs of any tremors, so maybe that’s not an issue anymore.
Although, if it is, perhaps the Black Fairy’s need of Henry’s author powers outweigh the potential danger of him helping Emma gain control over her magic.
Which begs the question, what does the Black Fairy need with the author, especially when the book is on its last chapter?
I’m waiting for Belle or Gold to get a look at Henry’s notebook and ask him where he learned fairy language.
As far as the Black Fairy seeking to perfect the dark curse, I’m wondering if that means she is looking for a way to cast the curse without having to sacrifice the thing the caster loves most. In other words, a way to cast the dark curse without consequence to the caster. Right now, to me, the question remains as to whether the Black Fairy is capable of loving anything, so would she even be capable of casting the dark curse in its current incarnation.
She did tell Rumple that she chose power over love. But that seems too simple. Perhaps it’s more of a like mother like son thing than we suspect?
She certainly targeted Gideon for a reason, and seemingly tried to form a bond with him, but a bond formed by fear and intimidation will not form the proper foundation for her to use Gideon to cast the dark curse.
Random Observations:
The Black Fairy calling Gideon “dearie,” has to be purposeful, and I love the connection to Rumple.
Most terrifying scene – watching Colin run down the embankment to the beach knowing the man can’t navigate a set of stairs to save a life. If I didn’t already know he broke his foot filming 6x20, I would have assumed the embankment did him in.
I said it last night, and I’ll say it again, blooper reel of the one-handed shuffling attempts please.
That being said, the dynamic between Killian and Blackbeard was pure gold and I hope we get to see them snark at each other again some day.
Loved Emma’s singular focus on keeping Killian back, although I wish she had paid a little more attention to the items Gideon insisted were necessary for the spell.
Has Gold ever called Emma by her first name before? I found that and his tone when doing so striking.
Hamilton was work-shopped for about a year and played off-Broadway for about six months before it became a hit and started spreading by word-of-mouth. If Isaac was a theater nerd he would have known about it from the start. This is not the continuity battle I choose to fight.
Ok, the storybook is on its last chapter, they also have the Apprentice’s library full of blank books for Henry to fill. And really, how many fairy tale books have unhappy endings? What happened to hope and happy endings?
Random Speculation:
I am expecting to see the Sands of Morpheus make a reappearance next week to play a role in breaking Snowing’s sleeping curse. But I’m not quite sure how, once the curse is broken, Snowing would be able to stop Emma from becoming the savior without traveling back in time to the EF and changing Rumple’s course completely, or what it would have to do with young Emma in the group home.
Right now, I’m guessing that part of Snowing’s journey to breaking the curse is to relive their history and the choices they’ve made together – a longer version of the flashbacks they each had when they touched the TL sapling – so they reaffirm their lives and choices and their commitment to each other and that has some effect on their shared heart that allows the curse to be broken.
Killian’s run down the beach brings him straight to Tiger Lily, she calls off the Lost Boys, we find out what happened between her and Killian in the past, they need to help each other to get out of Neverland so they decide to let bygones be bygones and work together.

The story of John Peter Zenger who fought British rule in the American colonies and printed materials about the corrupt Royal Governor, William S. Cosby . This 1733 case is important to American historians and champions of the First Amendment because it represented a strong repudiation of British libel law and also marked an important fissure in the relationship between the American colonies and the mother country. Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls played the middle show of a three-night takeover of The Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto on Thursday night, and things got hot!
With tourmates, Sam Coffey & The Iron Lungs and Bad Cop / Bad Cop, the English singer-songwriter put smiles on a lot of GTA faces and promised another night of the same with their energy, excellence and a little surprise at the end.
Related: Bad Cop / Bad Cop Toronto Interview
While summer may have now come to a close, the good times have not. It was full, hot, sweaty, and awesome in the building. There was an energy in the crowd that only comes from love and anticipation. It’s part of what makes being at live concerts special. And if Frank Turner’s performance in Toronto at The Phoenix is an indication of what the transition from summer to fall 2018 is going to be like in the music scene, we’re into it.
The show started with four kick-ass punk rock women. Because why the hell not?!
Bad Cop / Bad Cop is all-in everything when they hit the stage. And from their interview with Trish earlier in the day, we knew that they were ready to give their all on Thursday night. Stacey Dee – Vocals/Guitar & Jennie Cotterill – Vocals/Guitar & Myra Gallarza – Drums & Linh Le – Bass/Vocals come together to be something more than just four musicians on stage together. They’re a unit, they’re connected, they’re really freakin’ good.
Trish describes the band’s music as punky with pop influences but that it rocks hard. On Thursday night at The Phoenix, Bad Cop / Bad Cop proved her right when they rocked and got a big night started.

Local rock legends and heroes, Sam Coffey & The Iron Lungs took the second slot on the night – and were perfect in the middle. With theatrics, powerful energy, songs that the crowd loved, and a little dash of home cooking, there was really nothing more to ask for.
There’s a reason they’re sometimes referred to as the “Princes of the Underground”. They showed that at The Phoenix. I mean, you can see it in the photos as they pull off big time rock poses, hit all their marks and generally host a rock and roll party while they rip through their set.
And with Sam himself dressed as Evil Elvis, things were just a more amped up than anyone may have expected or hoped for.
Toronto and Sam Coffey & The Iron Lungs had a moment on Thursday night in the middle of the three-night run. Don’t miss them when they’re home next!

In the headline/ main event/ “reason everyone was in the building” spot at the end of the show was Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls. And they owned it.
Turner keeps count of his live dates, and on Thursday night he played show 2239. And just like they were for shows 2238 and 2240, Toronto was ready for him, and he was ready for Toronto.
With his latest release Be More Kind at the centre of the tour, Turner played a 24-song set on Thursday night. And he saved a little surprise for last.
When it came time for the last song of the night, Max Kerman, the outstanding frontman of Hamilton rockers Arkells, came to the stage and sang Four Simple Words with the band. He also danced and played with Frank Turner, showing just how much these two dudes like each other after their time on tour in the past.
Frank Turner has built himself a loyal and loving fanbase over more than a decade of albums and more than 2000 live shows. They showed just how much they loved him at The Phoenix. And we’re sure he felt it.
And we know they had a good time. We saw it.

Zaman powers Pakistan to nine-wicket win in second ODI

Zaman powers Pakistan to nine-wicket win in second ODI
Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman in action en route to his unbeaten century against Zimbabwe in the second One Day International. Pakistan won by nine wickets.
Bulawayo: In-form opening batsman Fakhar Zaman hit a fluent century as Pakistan demolished Zimbabwe by nine wickets in the second One Day International on Monday.
Zaman smashed 16 fours in scoring an unbeaten 117 off 129 balls and sprinted Pakistan to 195-1 in 36 overs against an inexperienced Zimbabwe bowling. The left-hander survived two close chances when he could have been run out in the second over and then was dropped soon after completing his century.
Earlier, fast bowlers Usman Khan (4-36) and Hasan Ali (3-32) took the bulk of the wickets and dismissed Zimbabwe for 194 in 49.2 overs.
Captain Hamilton Masakadza (59), who won the toss and elected to bat, and Peter Moor (50) gave the total some respectability as the rest of the batsmen struggled against Pakistan’s seamers under overcast conditions.
“If you are in form, and you are giving your 100 per cent, then the runs will come,” said Zaman. “Today I was trying to go till the end. I tried with Imam, he was unlucky, but I wanted to stay till the end.”
The opening pair of Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq (44) shared a second consecutive century stand in the series before Imam was run out while going for a quick single.
Both left-handers sealed the game with a 119-run stand off 124 balls and played some well-timed cut shots and drives on the off side.
Zaman reached his century off 109 balls when he nudged offspinner Wellington Maskadza to fine leg for two runs in the 32nd over.
Soon after Zaman completed his hundred, Tendai Chatara floored an easy catch at fine leg when the left-hander pulled seamer Donald Tiripano’s slower delivery.
Zaman and Babar Azam (29 not out) then hurried the run-chase by adding 76 runs for the second wicket stand as Zimbabwe trailed the five-match series 2-0.
Zimbabwe struggled at the top order continued when Usman removed both openers in his opening spell and then claimed two more wickets in his return spell.
Hamilton Masakadza and Tarisai Musakanda (24) tried to rebuild the innings with a 62-run stand. The Zimbabwe captain hit five fours and two sixes before he holed out in the deep in the 28th over and Hasan ripped the middle-order with three wickets as Zimbabwe was bowled out with four balls to spare.
“Tough day in the office,” Hamilton Masakadza said. “I got out the wrong time trying to up the game, but the target was never going to be enough.
“They’ve played our spinners really well, and with such a score, it was always going to be difficult for our bowlers. Hopefully we can put up a better performance, and make the series competitive.”
The third match of the series will be played on Wednesday.

30. GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS.
12. NEW ORLEANS PELICANS.
1. NEW YORK KNICKS.

10 teams that improved the most this NBA offseason
Though there was no single Kevin-Durant-to-Golden-State-sized splash in the NBA this offseason, teams made move after move to jockey with the Warriors in an attempt to interrupt their reign of terror.
The Rockets took a leap of faith and traded the farm for an aging Chris Paul. The Celtics used their cap space to reunite Gordon Hayward with Brad Stevens, then got rid of an asset in Avery Bradley to balance their checkbook. The Timberwolves suddenly became a legitimate Western Conference contender by ripping off the Bulls.
There were so many moves, in fact — so many trades and so many signings — that, now that the league’s transaction churn and burn has finally calmed, it’s hard to believe all that actually happened. To sum it up:
We’re going to see a lot of familiar faces in new jerseys come this fall (the preseason begins Sept. 30). But which of those players will make the biggest impact, and which teams will look the most improved? Which 2017-18 NBA squad will make the biggest leap?
It’s too early to know, of course, but below is my take on the 10 NBA teams that improved the most this offseason.
10. Denver Nuggets
The Nuggets found themselves in a precarious position with Danilo Gallinari. The stretch 4 is a valuable piece in the modern NBA, and people loved him in Denver.
However, the team hadn’t found success since Gallo came over in the 2011 trade that landed Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups on the Knicks. The Nuggets made the playoffs during the first three years Gallo was in Denver, but were eliminated in the first round each time. He’s a solid player, but not a centerpiece.
Given the state of the franchise, it was hard to justify giving Gallo more than $20 million a year and extending this iteration of Nuggets history. The team decided to let him go, and Denver shrewdly got a 2019 second-round pick out of it via a three-team deal with the Clippers and Hawks.
Denver made two great decisions this offseason: letting Gallo walk and signing forward Paul Millsap. The 6-foot-8, 32-year-old Millsap has long been one of the most underappreciated players in the league. Millsap doesn’t put them over the top, but he gives them one more valuable piece.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported the Cavs are interested in Jamal Murray. If Denver can pull that off and trot out Kyrie, Millsap, and Nikola Jokic, the Nuggets will make some noise in the loaded West.
9. Los Angeles Lakers
Everyone around the league believes the Lakers are gearing up for an active 2018 offseason — they plan to pursue Paul George and maybe even LeBron James — and the organization made some wise moves this summer to prepare for it.
For starters, they allowed Nick Young to walk, and traded D’Angelo Russell. Though both guys are talented, valuable players, they were too much of a distraction to keep around, especially when you’re going to try to lure marquee free agents.
The Lakers’ trade of Russell to Brooklyn was good for both sides. L.A. landed Brook Lopez, one of the most underrated bigs in the league, and also snagged the 27th overall pick. That pick turned into Kyle Kuzma, who looked excellent in Las Vegas and even cracked my early top 10 favorites to win NBA Rookie of the Year.
They also did well with their lottery pick. Lonzo Ball, the Summer League MVP, is a perfect fit, and I expect Magic Johnson will continue to like what he sees in his new floor general.
8. Charlotte Hornets
The Hornets are sneakily moving in the East. After missing the playoffs by five games this past season, it was clear they had to retool, and they’ve made a few under-the-radar moves that I’m a fan of.
Take, for example, their trade for Dwight Howard. No one wants Dwight at this point in his career. It’s considered a given that he’s going to ruin your locker room. But the Hornets got Dwight on a bargain deal. They gave up Marco Belinelli, Miles Plumlee, and a second-rounder for Howard and a first-rounder.
Howard’s minutes dipped to 29.7 per game with Atlanta last year, but he posted decent numbers: 13.5 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game. He’s a shell of the player who was the most dominant big in the NBA, but even that shell is still a pretty solid starting 5 man.
Additionally, the Hornets pulled off my favorite pick of the draft, snagging Kentucky’s Malik Monk at No. 11. With Kemba Walker, Monk, Nicolas Batum, Frank Kaminsky, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, and Howard, the Hornets should find themselves having moved up to the East’s second tier.
7. Golden State Warriors
The rich only got richer this offseason. In addition to locking up Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry for the foreseeable future, Golden State re-signed Andre Iguodala, Shaun Livingston, and Zaza Pachulia, and also added some valuable pieces.
Nick Young has become overshadowed by his Swaggy P alter-ego and propensity for being involved in off-the-court drama, but when Young is hot, he’s one of the best shooters in the league. Additionally, his decision to take a pay cut and sign with Golden State tells me he’s done some growing up and, at this point in his career, he values winning above personal accolades. Getting the 32-year-old Young on a one-year, $5.2 million deal was a steal for the Warriors.
The Warriors also purchased yet another draft pick to snag Oregon’s Jordan Bell, a 6-foot-8 forward with a high basketball IQ who does it all. He wants to be Draymond 2.0.
Though Omri Casspi isn’t a household name, he’s a valuable bench player who agreed to take the veteran minimum. He could turn into another unheralded, undervalued vet who contributes valuable minutes in the NBA Finals.
6. Brooklyn Nets
Thanks to foolish management, the Nets have managed to both be terrible and have no exciting young players on the roster in recent years. What we’ve witnessed in Brooklyn has been a rare feat of ineptitude.
But give GM Sean Marks credit: the Nets were desperately in need of a rebuild, and he took sage steps toward achieving that end this summer. The most noteworthy of Marks’ moves was his trade for D’Angelo Russell and Timofey Mozgov.
Russell has had an interesting career, to say the least, and for all the jokes about him being a TMZ beat reporter, he’s shown flashes of brilliance on the court. I think the former No. 2 overall pick could still become an All-Star.
Other great moves for the Nets: holding onto Sean Kilpatrick and flipping Justin Hamilton for DeMarre Carroll’s contract, a first-round pick, and a second-round pick.
