after you and eddie reconciled in the back of the RV, you vowed to yourself that you would let nothing happen to him and he of course already told you that he would keep you safe no matter what
even when that meant reading his mind when returning through the gate. you had watched dustin climb through the rope into normal hawkins, before turning to eddie. he gave you a chaste kiss before helping you up and through the gate, but once through, you looked down to see eddie staring at where the demo bats were attempting to breach through the top of the trailer
"edward james munson, get your ass through this gate right now!" you screamed, knowing he wanted to go out there and keep fighting, be the hero he was destined to be
"coming" he mumbled, snapping out of his thoughts and looking back up through the gate to see you
once you reconvened with everyone back in the real world, you felt some weight fall off your shoulders, assuming vecna was dead, and you felt a sense of normalcy headed your way, however, that was not what happened
eddie was found and arrested within hours of being back in the real hawkins because a couple people spotted movement within his trailer
you sat on the cold hard chair in the waiting room of the hawkins police department. it had been at least an hour since eddie was taken back to the small cell they had in the back of the building. you sat there with your hands buried in your hands with dustin next to you, who was biting on his thumb nail out of pure anxiety.
the news had not gone public but you were scared that at any minute, angry mobs of people would appear, ready to rip him apart for something he didn't do
sheriff powell walked into the room, handing a file over to florence who sat behind her desk. you stood up, looking for some sort of sign that you would be able to go back and see him
"uh we need to ask you a couple of questions as well, if you wouldn't mind," he said, ushering you to follow him
"no, whatever you want to ask, you can ask me right here," you said, crossing your arms
"ugh whatever, uh, did he force either of you two into his murderous plans?" he started, flipping open a small notebook, clicking his pen with a frustrated sigh
it was obvious that since he took on the role of the hawkins sheriff, he never expected to be put in a situation like this and as the arresting officer, he was clearly stressed knowing he had the number one suspect of the murders in the building and only him and florence knew that he was sitting in the holding cell
"what? no! that's crazy, he is innocent!" dustin yelled
"son, you need to remain calm or we won't be able to get to the bottom of this," he said, rubbing his forehead in distress
"calm? you want me to stay calm? you just arrested someone who is more innocent than mother theresa! he was framed!" dustin yelled again, throwing his hands up to dramatize his point
just then, the phone rang.
"hawkins police department, how may i help you?" she said picking up the phone and placing it on her ear. she balanced it between her shoulder as she grabbed a piece of paper and a pen, writing something down
she muttered a couple of "uh-huhs" before hanging up the phone and standing up, walking over to the sheriff
"that was officer callahan, he just found some kids at the abandoned creel house, one of them with broken arms and legs like the others, she was taken to the hospital about half an hour ago" florence explained, and you looked at dustin
"is she awake? can she talk?" powell asked and florence shrugged
"they didn't say," she responded and Powell nodded
"i'll be back, you two stay here" powell said firmly, grabbing his sheriff hat and walking out the door
you nodded, and sat down again, tears pricking at your eyes feeling frustrated as ever
"are you guys hungry?" florence asked sweetly and you shook your head, rubbing your forehead
"you sure? cause i can go grab something next door, and while i do so, there's no one here to stop you from seeing mr. munson..." she trailed off
you lifted your head up, picking up on what she was trying to say. she would leave to get food and while she was gone, she was going to let you see eddie
"but what about-" you started and she shook her head
"i'm going to go get you two food, you two look famished" florence said again, grabbing her coat and purse and walking swiftly out of the door leaving you and dustin alone in the building
you would assume that there would be more officers working, but most were out patroling the streets or looking for eddie, unaware that the sherriff already brought him in
you quickly ran down the hall and turned the corner to see eddie sitting on the hard metal bench that was connected to the wall, his head in his hands
"eddie?" you said urgently. he lifted his head up to see you and instantly got up and walked towards the bars that divided the two of you
"y/n, how did you get back here?" he asked, linking his hand with yours that met on one of the bars
"florence let me back but that's not important, how are you?" you asked sympathetically
"oh you know, just peachy, i almost die defeating an evil force just to get thrown in jail for a crime i didn't commit" he said sarcastically. you knew he was using it as a defense mechanism to cover the fact that he wanted to cry and scream and punch a wall for being in the worst situation imaginable
"well i am going to do everything in my power to get you out of here i promise" you told him and he nodded, wiping away a tear
"oh eddie bear don't cry" you said, using his nickname you started to call him when you first started dating
"ew, eddie bear?" dustin said, appearing behind you
"hey at least she is being nice" eddie snapped back and dustin crossed his arms
"i am nice too! i'm here to help get you out," dustin told him and you sorta droned out as the two continued to bicker like brothers with one another
you both stayed with eddie for a couple more minutes before you heard the bell of the front door ring, signaling someone was coming in
"shit, okay, i love you, i'll be back" you said to eddie, disconnecting your hands and following dustin out of the room and down the hall back to where the desks were
florence came back in holding a large brown paper bag, giving you a small smile
"sorry im a few minutes later than i should've been, there was a long line" she said with a wink, handing you the bag
you thanked her as she took out one package of food and headed down the hallway, presumably towards eddie, and left the rest to you and dustin as you dove into the meal
you were almost done, snacking on a couple of leftover fries when both sheriff powell and officer callahan walked into the building and down the hall to eddie
you got up, following them, not caring if you would get reprimanded for doing so. they were both silent as you watched them unlock the cell, eddie standing up and looking at them with confusion
"mr. munson, under new evidence you are no longer under arrest for the murders of chrissy cunningham, fred benson, and patrick mckinney. you are free to go" powell said with a grisly voice
eddie slowly walked out of the cell, staring at the two officers incase they were to have a snap in judgment and throw him back in
"what.. what do you mean?" you asked as he walked to you, giving you a hug
"we cannot disclose much but, we found that there was another accident that occurred when mr. munson here was in this cell, which proves.." callahan started to say
"it proves he didn't do it since we had him detained here so there was no way he was able to get out and do anything" powell finished
you started crying, and your arms wrapped around eddie, pulling him in close
"thank god" you mumbled out, before it hit you
-
the next day you woke up in your bed, eddie next to you. after all the shit that went down, you were more than happy to be showered and laying in bed next to eddie who was no longer convicted of a crime he didn't commit
the two of you snuck into your room the night before as you were promised as of 12 pm last night, the news would be spread that eddie munson was innocent
you knew that even with the proof of innocence, people would still be cruel towards your boyfriend so you decided the best course of action was to let him sleep all day in a comfy bed, then take him on a picnic to lovers lake. it would be secluded and give you a chance to just be with him
you rolled out of bed quietly and walked out of your room and down the hall to the living room. you saw your mom sitting in her chair with tews sitting on her lap, watching the news
"did you see this?" she asked, motioning to the tv where you saw the headline underneath powell stating the new evidential facts
new evidence found in munson case - suspect found innocent
"yeah uh, i did see that, i actually picked him up from the station last night..." you told her and she gasped
"where is he now? he obviously can't go home" she asked
"now mom, don't get mad but he had to stay over last night-" you tried to explain and she got up, putting tews on the seat behind her
"he's here?" she said with a mix of a shout with a whisper, you gulped with a nod
"well, that poor thing! after everything he's been through! does he need anything?" she asked, and you were shocked
"oh uh, not now? he's sleeping but when he gets up he'll probably need something to eat and then i'm taking him on a picnic tonight," you smiled sheepishly
"oh good, well i do have to head to work soon but please make him feel at home, poor thing has been through enough" she told you and you nodded with an unsure smile
"yeah sure" was all you said as she walked to her room
you stood there, stunned. to be fair she knew you and eddie were dating and how close he and dustin were, but the whole situation of him being accused of something so heinous really freaked her out.
you checked the time and saw it was only about 8 am, your mom would leave in a few minutes and you knew for a fact eddie and dustin, who were both dead asleep, would probably not wake up till hours later
figuring you should do something of use, you decided to wash eddie's clothes, start prepping food for your picnic, and find some other things to busy yourself with
-
"how's max" you asked nancy. she was at the hospital with mike and lucas, and she called you after wondering where you went. you explained the eddie situation which she was thankful for, and updated the rest of the group for you.
"alive, but her arms and legs are broken and in casts, the doctors don't know when she'll wake up," she said as you heard her sniffles
a few tears started to fall upon hearing the news, and you nodded, thankful she was alive but praying she would wake up and everything would be okay
"how's eddie doing?" she asked just as you heard a door creak open. you looked around the corner to see eddie coming out of your room in just a pair of boxers
"speak of the devil, he just woke up," you told her as eddie wrapped his arms around you, the warmth of his body heating up yours
you continued to talk with nancy for a few more minutes as eddie slowly swayed you side to side. the two of you eventually said goodbye and you hung up, turning your body to face eddie
"hi baby" he said as you put your arms around his shoulders, nuzzling your face into the crook of his neck
"how'd you sleep?" you asked
"fucking amazing, such an upgrade from ricks couch," he said, kissing your forehead
you stood like that for a handful of minutes, enjoying the bliss of standing in each others arms.
"you hungry?" you asked. "yeah" he mumbled out. you went to move out of his arms but he wouldn't let you move
"baby i kinda have to go to the kitchen" you laughed, trying to worm your way out of his arms and he gripped tighter
"nope, cant let you go, i love you too much" he laughed as he fake wrestled you to avoid you leaving his arms
eddie and you fumbled to the floor, causing you two to burst into giggles. you hadn't heard his laugh in the longest time and it warmed your heart
"i've missed that" you said, leaning on your side to look at him. he propped himself up on his arm and out the other around your waist
"missed what" he asked, stroking your hip lightly with his thumb
"you, your smile, your laugh, everything" you giggled out
"i missed everything about you too" he said, using his hand on your hip to pull you close. he swiftly moved so he was hovering over you, slowly leaning down to kiss you
just as your lips touched, you heard a few footsteps and then a loud "what the fuck, get off the floor" by an annoyed dustin, who clearly just woke up
"sorry man" eddie mumbled out, and got up, and helped you up from the floor as well
you cooked the two of them breakfast, and munched on a few pieces here and there before dustin got up, putting his plate in the sink
"i'm going to get dressed and then head to the hospital to see max, can you drive me there?" he asked eddie, and he nodded a yes
"uh babe, where are my clothes?" eddie asked
"oh i washed and dried them for you, they should be downstairs, i can go get it" you said, kissing his temple in passing
you quickly got his clothes out of the dryer and brought them back up from the basement, going to your room and setting them on your bed
you went back to the kitchen, and started cleaning the dishes up, noticing dustin left the table
"i put your clothes on my bed" you said to him when he came up behind you and kissed your neck
"or we can make it even and you can lose your clothes" he suggested, kissing up your neck
you smiled, drying your hands on the small towel next to the sink
"oh really?" you smirked, as he kissed up your neck, you pressed back against him causing a small moan to emit from his perfect pink lips
"okay eddie im ready to go!" you heard dustin scream as he walked down the hall
"fucking cock block" eddie mumbled, leaning his forehead against your shoulder causing you to giggle
"go on, i'm gonna work on our surprise date" you said and he kissed your shoulder
"its not really a surprise if you tell me about it" he said, pulling away from you causing the chilly air to nip at your skin
"well i had to tell you cause you're gonna drive us there" you said smiling
"oh really?" he said, pulling you in for another kiss
"really" you said pulling away
"ew gross guys cmon im right here" you heard dustin complain. you giggled as you watched eddie flick dustins temple as he passed him on the way to your room
a few minutes later he came back out wearing his newly cleaned hellfire t shirt and black jeans, slipping on his shoes
"lets go" he said, keys in hand
-
after eddie got back, you two packed up food, and you honestly didn't care that you knew he knew where you guys were going
you had gotten dressed into a comfy sweater and jeans, knowing it was going to be a bit nippy when the sun set by the lake
eddie helped you push the picnic basket and blankets into the back of his van then helped you up into the passenger seat, shutting your door for you, always refusing for you to get it because to him 'a lady should never get her own door' and always insisted he did it instead
"so i think i know where we're having our surprise date" eddie said with a smirk, hopping into the drivers seat and shutting the door
he turned on the engine in his van and started the usual drive from your house to lovers lake
the radio played softly, and you turned your body to admire him, watching him focus on the road, one hand on the steering wheel, the other resting on the clutch.
"what's going through your mind pretty girl?" he asked, noticing you looking
"nothing, just admiring how pretty you are," you smiled, and he stretched the hand he had on the clutch and moved it to your thigh
you put your hand on top of his, stroking his skin lightly before your hands intertwined. you felt the roughness of his calloused fingers graze over yours along with the metal of his rings that he refused to go anywhere without
"you think i'm pretty?" he asked, a small smile tugging at his lips as he glanced over at you
"of course, god broke the mold when he made you," you said with a giggle and eddie rolled his eyes, a real smile stretching over his face
"that's so cheesy" eddie said with a chuckle. the radio continued to play as you sat in comfortable silence
but it wasn't long before the two of you were talking about everything and anything as you usually would end up doing but you secretly loved it, to you it proved you would never run out of things to talk about
before you knew it, you had arrived at your usual spot in lovers lake. it was a small, quiet area that you hadn't seen too many people in but it was perfect for the two of you. there was enough room for the van to be parked on the side of the road, and your usual spot sat in a clearing of bushes which provided some privacy which was nice. it was also close to the water which gave the right amount of ambience to your dates with eddie. it was a peaceful intermission from life everytime you came here and that's why it soon became your favorite
of course during the break up, you were very upset you couldn't go there to think, just out of pure fear you were to see eddie here with some other girl. but you didn't know what was worse, running into him on a date with another girl in your spot, or seeing him there all alone and not being able to be with him sitting on the shoreline
you and eddie took your stuff from his van and walked down to where you normally set the blanket and you had a sense of deja vu wash over you
"agh i'm getting deja vu" you spoke, setting down the blanket which made eddie chuckle
"i just take it that if it was meant to happen before you're where you're meant to be right now" eddie said setting up the food, and you laughed
"when did you become so wise?" you asked in surprise and eddie shrugged with a smile
"somewhere on the walk from the car to here" eddie joked
-
the sun had set, the food was finished, and the music was playing from one of eddie's transistor radios he had from his van
you were leaning against eddie who was sitting against a tree, giving you the perfect view of the lake while eddie's arms wrapped around you
the song on the radio changed and suddenly you were listening to the familiar tune of 'your song' by elton john
"ugh i love elton, but this song is so cheesy and overplayed" you complained to eddie
"can i tell you a secret?" he responded causing you confusion on his response
"yeah?" you told him
"i actually kinda like this song" he said with a sheepish smile
"what?" you said in surprise and he nodded, shifting his position to get up, offering a hand to help you up from your spot
you stood up as he gently pulled you in close, your hands were on his chest as his arms snaked around your waist, and he rested his hands on your lower back
he started to dance with you as the lyrics flowed, and your heart skipped a beat as he started to sing along
'I know it's not much, but it's the best I can do My gift is my song, and this one's for you'
he quickly kissed you between verses before he continued to sing to you, gently swaying you back and forth as you laid your head on his chest, putting your arms around his neck 'And you can tell everybody this is your song It may be quite simple, but now that it's done I hope you don't mind, I hope you don't mind that I put down in words How wonderful life is while you're in the world'
you started to tear up a little bit just from the amount of pure love for the man in front of you. he moved his head to get your attention just to sing you your favorite line from the whole song
'yours are the sweetest eyes i've ever seen'
you smiled and looked away, blushing as he continued to sing along until the song ended and the two of you stood there in each other's arms, the radio switching to some other song while hearing the light waves from the lake splash onto the edge of the ground where you stood
"i guess its not such a cheesy song after all" you muttered, wiping a tear from your cheek
"guess not" eddie agreed, leading to another few minutes of silence of standing there with each other which was pure bliss after the hell you've encountered the past few weeks, before eddie spoke again
"it's all true though" he said and you responded with an intrigued "hm?"
"the song, it's true for me. you make life the most wonderful thing to experience just because you're here with me, and i can't say it enough but i love you more than life y/n" he said, locking eyes with you
you gently cupped his face, kissing him with such passion you were sure it would break the world record for the amount of love shown through a kiss. he kissed you back, pulling you in close like he would lose you the second he let go. your hands tangled in his hair as your tongues explored each other's mouths like it was new territory.
when you finally pulled away for air, eddie kept you close, leaning his forehead against yours and rubbing a hand on the back of your neck. he kissed your forehead lightly before pulling away, looking at your fingers entangling with his
he quickly pulled away and turned around before he whipped back around and got down on one knee, holding up the ring he always wore on his right hand. the one he stole from his mom's jewelry box when he was 12 but she ended up letting him keep it, finding it endearing he wanted to wear it
"y/n, this is a promise that no matter how stupid i am, that we always work things out, and we stay that way no matter what. i love you and never want to let you go and as a token of my promise, and my love and appreciation, will you please wear my ring and be mine again?" he asked, looking up at you, the lyrics of having the sweetest eyes you've ever seen coming to fruition with his chocolate brown eyes staring into yours
"eddie i-" you started to feel the tears fall down your cheeks as you stopped yourself, a small giggle coming from your mouth
"i love you eddie, yes of course" you said as you stretched out your hand to meet his as he slipped the ring onto your ring finger. it fit a little too perfectly, causing your heart to flutter.
he stood up, picking you up and spinning you around as you let out a laugh squeal combination, before putting you back down on the ground, holding your face as you leaned into his hand, watching his eyes look at you with a look of admiration
"one day i'll write you my version of your song, and it'll be all for you" he said with a smile
"will it include cheesy lyrics?" you laughed and he nodded
"naturally"

Storybook Squares (February 1969?)
Storybook Squares was the name given to a special series of episodes of the NBC game show Hollywood Squares. The series featured celebrities dressed up as famous people and characters from history and various forms of media.
Peter Marshall served as host of these episodes. The panelists were introduced by "The Guardian of the Gate", who announced their characters' presence by reading their names from a scroll. The Guardian was played by regular Hollywood Squares announcer Kenny Williams, and the character was similar to his "Town Crier" character from Video Village.
The series ran on NBC on Saturday mornings from January 4 to April 19, 1969, with repeats airing until August 30. The concept was revived during the 1976-77 season as a series of special theme weeks on the daytime Hollywood Squares.
Format On the original edition of Storybook Squares, the game was played in the same manner as the regular game, with celebrities in the squares dressed as storybook and nursery rhyme characters. Two children competed, always boy vs. girl with the boy as X and the girl as Circle. They played as many games as time permitted, with a prize being awarded for each win. No money was awarded; a Secret Square game for the first two games was played, with the setup identical to the 1968 primetime game and first two years of the syndicated version—that is, if the first game's Secret Square was not won, the package was combined with that of the second game, and then after that it was not won.
Panelists The only panelist from the adult show who played as he normally would was Cliff Arquette, who carried his "Charley Weaver" persona over to Storybook Squares. The other panelists played characters from fairy tales and books, historical figures, or in some cases the characters they played on television.
Unlike the parent series, on Storybook Squares each panelist/character was given an elaborate introduction as they entered the set and took their place on the board, allowing for a brief comic interaction with host Marshall as they did so. Some of the celebrities who appeared were:
* Marty Allen as Tarzan and Cupid * Jim Backus as Mr. Magoo (animated character for whom he provided the voice) and Thurston Howell III (his character from Gilligan's Island) * Ted Cassidy as Tarzan * Charo as Isabella * Wally Cox as Paul Revere and Davy Crockett * Bob Crane as Colonel Hogan (his role on Hogan's Heroes) * Abby Dalton as Little Miss Muffet * Barbara Eden as Jeannie (her role on I Dream of Jeannie) * Nanette Fabray as The Old Woman Who Lived in the Shoe * Stu Gilliam as Merlin * Arte Johnson as Wolfgang the Nazi from Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In, referred to herein as the "'Very Interesting' Soldier" * Paul Lynde as Frankenstein's monster and the Evil Queen from Snow White * Paul Winchell as Romeo and Dr. Jekyll (with Tessie Mahoney- Jerry Mahoney in a blond wig- as Juliet and Jerry Mahoney as Mr. Hyde) * Carolyn Jones as Morticia Addams (her role on The Addams Family) * Rose Marie as Pocahontas and Annie Oakley * Roy Rogers and Dale Evans * Soupy Sales as Henry VIII and Thomas Edison * William Shatner as James T. Kirk (his character from Star Trek) * Leslie Uggams as Snow White
1976-77 return When the daytime series brought back Storybook Squares, its format was changed slightly. Instead of a two-player match featuring boys playing girls, the matches used a team format with the boys playing with their fathers and grandfathers and the girls with their mothers and grandmothers.
The children played the first game of the match, with the parents playing the second and the grandparents each subsequent game as time permitted. $300 was awarded for each game won, with $50 awarded per square if time was called during a game.
The team with the most money at the end of the game won a large prize, such as a car or exotic vacation.
* Marty Allen as Tarzan * Milton Berle as Old Mother Hubbard * Valerie Bertinelli as Little Miss Muffet * Big Bird (Muppet played by Caroll Spinney) * Hal Smith as Mother Goose * Paul Lynde as Attila the Hun, Frankenstein's monster, The Wicked Witch, Davy Crockett, and Paul Bunyan * William Shatner as Captain Kirk * Elke Sommer as Guinevere * Susan Seaforth Hayes as Eve and Cleopatra * Bill Hayes as Adam and Caesar * Connie Stevens as The Queen of Hearts * Karen Valentine as Mona Lisa * Anson Williams as Simple Simon * Florence Henderson as Belle Starr * Doc Severinsen (with his trumpet) as The Pied Piper and Gabriel * George Gobel as Henry VIII * Vincent Price as Captain Hook * Pat Harrington (Jr.) as Leonardo da Vinci * Rip Taylor as General Custer * Joan Rivers as The Old Woman Who Lived in the Shoe * Bonnie Franklin as Goldilocks and Peter Pan * John Byner as Long John Silver * Roddy McDowall as Sherlock Holmes and Pinocchio * Arte Johnson as Beethoven * Jo Ann Worley as Martha Washington * Soupy Sales as Thomas Edison * Rich Little as Noah * Julie McWhirter(-Dees) as Glinda the Good Witch (though referred to as "the Good Fairy") and Dorothy Gale * Charo as Lady Godiva (she wore a sparkly flesh-toned bodysuit rather than appear actually nude)

Flag by Yello
Tumblr media
Every Memorial Day – except maybe this next one – a few hundred thousand race fans from across the globe come together to witness “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.”
And for many Hoosiers, the Indianapolis 500 is a rite of passage. They never forget their first race – the awe-inducing sight of race cars zipping around corners and straightaways at 200+ mph, Jim Nabors’ majestic voice singing “Back Home Again in Indiana” or the deafening roar of 33 tiny rockets on wheels starting at once after hearing the simple command: “(Ladies and) gentlemen, start your engines.”
These Hoosiers aren’t defined as much by their age or job but by who won their first Indy 500 or how many they’ve been to. And it’s not just a single day for them – their entire month of May is consumed by celebrations, traditions and race festivities.
For other Hoosiers, the race is memorable for a whole host of other reasons – the endless lines of traffic snaking to the speedway, trekking miles from a parking spot to a crowded bleacher while lugging heavy coolers, Florence Henderson’s grating “God Bless America” (Yes, that Florence Henderson. And yes, it was that bad. RIP.) or the loud, mindless boredom that transpires between laps 1 through 199.
But what’s the race like for most? Somewhere in between – a fun, exciting event to partake in every once in a while but nothing life changing. These Hoosiers and race fans are happy to go and experience it in person, but equally as happy to catch the taped-delay broadcast later that night – or the highlights the next day.
And that pretty much sums up Yello’s Flag. It’s a mostly fun, sometimes mindless 80s techno album that one can enjoy every so often without feeling the urge to revisit all the time. Or maybe never again.
And like in Indy during May, “The Race” is Yello’s most memorable moment. Its pulsating synth mambo flair brings passion to an album that’s unfortunately lacking the same energy on any of its other tracks, with the exception being the lead track “Tied Up.” The rest of album finds itself bouncing between strange, dark goth electronica and a guitar, chant heavy closer.
So Yello’s Flag is much like a yellow flag. It lacks the full-throttled thrill of green flag racing, but it’s not quite as bad as a red flag that brings everything to a halt.
In other words, this Flag signals for you to proceed with caution.

Fresh Artist Fridays: The Authentic
PRESSURE is the song you play when you need to feel heard by your music. The Authentic’s inspiring lyrics punch you in the gut and leave you with a feeling of motivation and determination. The lyrics grab your attention from the beginning and refuse to let you go for the duration of the song. “I see today standing in my way. Trouble’s always present so I get down on my knees and pray.” The song is a candid admission of the stress we feel just trying to get through life. The Authentic raps about how he knows life won’t be easy, but he will do everything he can to provide for his family and take care of himself. PRESSURE tackles the emotions that come with feeling adversity and difficulty perfectly. It’s open about how hard it can be to feel depended on, but also makes it clear that nothing will stand in The Authentic’s way. Its music video is equally as inspiring, showing ordinary people go through life struggling but determined to make it. Check out PRESSURE, along with the rest of the songs off of The Authentic’s 2020 project, Politics, War & Religion - Mixtape Series Volume One.
The Authentic Bio
In a day and time when music is strictly about glamour and entertainment, The Authentic stands as one of the last true MC’s focused on reality lyrics, a crazy flow, a one of a kind style and the real essence of Hip Hop. With so many replicas in the industry, The Authentic’s pure passion for the music allows him to stand in a league of his own and truly fits the definition of his title. With a flow that places him in a league of his own and a sincere love for his craft, The Authentic doesn’t hold back; addressing social issues and taking direct aim at whack rappers. Through his career, The Authentic has fully utilized his diverse experiences in life to develop a strong versatile catalog; with motivational tracks that depict the streets reality like hit single “Shining Star”, up-tempo Hip Hop anthems like “Turn It Up”, and party bangers like “Oh My God”. With over 10 solid years ripping through the underground, hundreds of performances under his belt, radio appearances and five solid mixtapes with thousands of units moved; The Authentic has firmly secured his slot in the game. Working hard to build his reputation and master the craft of being an MC (Master of Ceremony), he has performed all over the country, from New York City (Nuyorican Poets Café, Revolution Bookstore), Philadelphia (The Trocadero, Love Park, and Wells Fargo Center), North Carolina (NC State University, Dorton Arena), Las Vegas (Planet Hollywood and The Bunkhouse) and many more. His diligence, determination and natural raw talent has earned him respect from some of the most reputable figures in the game, including: DJ Rashaun, DJ Scratch of The Roots Crew, DJ Touchtone, DJ NoPhrillz and has landed him on stages with superstars such as, KRS ONE, Big Daddy Kane, Naughty By Nature, Jadakiss, Styles P, Musiq Soulchild and more. With his sound, his resume and pure passion for the culture, The Authentic truly represents a lost voice in Hip Hop. In addition to being in a league of his own when it comes to lyrical content and experience; The Authentic separates himself from the pack by being more than just another artist. Over the years, he has dedicated a majority of his time off the stage to building his community and standing as a voice on various social issues. In 2011, The Authentic created an annual event called “The Authentic Minds College Fair Tour”, which hosted over 50 colleges, guest speakers and live performances held at the Martin Luther King Recreation Center located in North Philadelphia. This College Fair alone generated a wave of media buzz and lead to the interest of multiple sponsors. By establishing himself on the corporate side, The Authentic has created multiple opportunities to perform and organize entertainment events for companies and organizations. The Authentic has also served as a Community Relations Director and spokesman for various Non Profits and local movements. To him, Hip Hop is a way of life and a culture and he feels that the mic should be utilized to depict real life and to open people’s minds to a reality that most people do not understand. The Authentic’s love for Hip Hop started in the 80’s at a very early age, listening to legends such as RUN DMC, KRS ONE, LL Cool J, and witnessing local break dancing competitions and DJ battles. He became fascinated with the expressions of the culture in every aspect and embodied being a key figure to continue the movement. While growing up in South Jersey, he witnessed his mother struggle to pay the bills and embraced all of the usual elements of the hood; violence, drugs and poverty. As he adapted to his environment, he gravitated to the mic to speak on exactly what he experienced first hand and continues to do so. The Authentic hit the scene hard in the late 90’s, touring the Northeast with Wyclef Jean’s award winning group City High. Shortly after the tour, The Authentic’s group, at the time, signed a joint venture deal with a local independent label and No Limit records, which eventually fell through. Following the fallout of the deal, he quickly bounced back rocking stages with Lil’ Kim, Tracey Lee, Jackal the Bear, and landed a slot on the radio with Legendary DJ Jay Ski; all before graduating high school. By the grace of GOD, The Authentic headed to Raleigh, NC after high school to attend college and to pursue new music opportunities. With so many colleges in the area and a solid underground scene in NC, The Authentic’s career excelled all while trying to balance school work, hustling to pay tuition and his passion for Hip Hop. The Authentic hit the ground running by tearing down college talent shows and was eventually booked to open for DJ Clue, Jadakiss, Petey Pablo, Styles P and D.C., go-go music legends Backyard Band. In early 2000 The Authentic was selected to headline the CIAA Championship Game at Dorton Arena, as well as the CIAA Hip Hop Hoops Tour, which hit colleges through MD, VA and NC, including NC Central, VA State and Winston-Salem State College. This tour led to him landing a deal with an affiliate label of the NBC television network. The Authentic teamed up with Raleigh’s illest underground MC “Bubsy” to form a group called “Lock n Load”, which dropped two hit singles on the “One Hot Minute Compilation”, a collaborative effort by NC’s top artists from around the state. Both singles released received hundreds of spins from Richmond, VA to Raleigh, NC to Florence, SC. Following graduation from St. Augustine’s College with a Public Relations degree, The Authentic released his first underground project “Vision of Hope” which sold over 500 units all while teaching elementary school and creating youth outlet programs in the poverty stricken city of Henderson, NC. After putting in work in NC, The Authentic headed back home to Jersey embracing his degree, but sucked back into the traps of the hood. He continued making mixtape appearances and rocking shows all through the tri-state. Living in Trenton during one of the worst stretches of gang violence in the state’s history prompted the release of “The Line of Fire Mixtape”. It became the theme music, depicting the reality and moved over 1,500 copies on the street and in local stores. While “The Authentic’s” reputation was growing in the area, he suffered the lost of his cousin, best friend and roommate, Tone; who was shot in the back twice a few hundred yards from their home, while The Authentic was rocking his first show in NYC. After the lost of his cousin, he felt strongly about turning further away from the streets and using his voice more as a tool for awareness of the realities that the inner city youth face. From that point, he embraced his cousin’s last conversation with him, in which he reminded The Authentic that his role is to be “The Public Relations of the hood”. Following The Authentic’s explosion on the scene in Jersey, he relocated to Philadelphia to build his brand in the nation’s 5th largest city. In no time he began smashing open mics and local shows in every section of the city earning him spins and respect amongst the areas top DJ’s, such as DJ NoPhrillz, DJ Touchtone, DJ Jay Ski and DJ GregNitty. The Authentic blazed through the city with his mixtape release “Reality of it All”, followed by “Real Recognize Real” with hit single “Turn It Up”, which gained him national attention getting radio spins on FM stations from New York City, Las Vegas, Atlanta, and Philly’s 100.3 The Beat. The national buzz set the tone for The Authentic’s next mixtape “Righteous Kill Mixtape Vol. 1”, packed with versatile hits and moved 5,000 units in the street with no budget. With things in motion, he continued to make appearances all through the city from Unity Day with Chaka Khan, Philly Fest with Mos Def and Musiq, The Old Skool Jam with KRS ONE and Roxanne Shante, The Rotunda, The Trocadero, and XO Lounge with Philly Swain and Reed Dollars. He headlined Philadelphia Schools Stop the Violence Tour, West Philly Day, Nicetown Day, South Philly Day and Mantua Day with Naughty by Nature. The Authentic also showed up heavy on the radar with a feature on well known Gunz n’ Butter productions DJ J-Scrilla compilation “Culture of Honor” featuring Cassidy, DipSet, Tek and Reef The Lost Cauze.

Curiosity Door
Teen Wolf x Stranger Things Crossover Happy Thanksgiving!
Chapter 3/?
Joyce is the first to notice, because of course she is. The woman’s constantly on high alert - and with good reason.
So when Hopper gets a call through the radio that Joyce Byers is asking for him at the station, he hightails it back there, informing the feuding farmers he’d been dealing with that they’d have to check in with the council to confirm property lines and that it wasn’t a police matter unless one of them threatened the other with an axe. Again.
By the time he makes it to the station Joyce has worked herself up into a panic, pacing back and forth across his office and wringing her hands together. She freezes when he steps into the doorway, like a deer in the headlights, and for a moment he’s transported back in time. His stomach sinks.
“What is it?” he asks.
At the same time, she exclaims, “They’re gone!”
He takes two measured steps into the room, just enough so that he can reach out and gently grab her arms. He forces himself to keep his voice steady, despite the panic climbing its way up his chest. “Who’s gone?”
“All of them, Jim, all of them, they’re all gone!”
“Who? The kids?” he asks, a little bit of the panic seeping in. He thinks of El, alone in their cabin, and he thinks of all the hell she’s already been through, and the panic gets worse.
Joyce nods. “Mhmm. Will’s - Will’s gone, he was - they were meant to be at the Wheeler’s for a sleepover, all of them, but they’re not there, Karen said they left before she was even up this morning, left her a note that they were going to race their bikes, but they race around the junkyard, I know, and they’re not there, and they’re not at the Sinclairs or the Hendersons and no one’s answering at the Mayfields -”
“What about the school?”
Joyce gives him a look. “On a Saturday?”
“They’re not with Nancy or Jonathan?”
She shakes her head.
Hopper runs through the checklist in his head of all the places the kids frequent. “What about… that Harrington kid’s place, they could be there, they like to hang out with him now, right?”
“Nancy rang him, he’s not answering his phone.” Joyce’s bottom lip quivers and Hopper’s heart twinges.
“Maybe they’re at the cabin,” he says reasonably, still forcing himself to stay calm and rational. Never mind that the last two years have been anything but rational. “Let me check in with El, I’ll -”
But he never gets to finish his sentence, because at that moment the door to the station bangs open and there’s a commotion outside. Florence is saying, “Excuse me, you can’t go back there!” and a girl’s yelling incomprehensibly and a boy is speaking over the top of both of them, saying, “We need to see Hopper, where is he? We need to see Hopper right now!”
He steps out into the hall, Joyce right behind, and the panic that’s been brewing erupts in his stomach at the sight of the Harrington kid and Maxine Mayfield trying to force their way towards his office.
“Steve? Max?” Joyce says, pushing past Hopper and running to them, gliding her hands over their shoulders, their heads, their cheeks. “What’s happened?”
Their pants are ripped at the knees, bloody gashes visible through the torn denim. Steve has a black eye, and Max’s palms are bleeding, and both of them are looking at Joyce with a horrible mixture of fear, relief and guilt.
They both start talking to her at once, tripping over their words and interrupting each other, making no sense at all and only getting themselves more and more worked up -
“What. Happened.” Hopper says firmly, and the entire station goes silent.
Steve finds his voice again first. “Uh -”
“My office, now.”
They all file in, but as soon as Hopper locks the door they resume speaking at a million miles an hour.
“One at a time!” he orders, and they glance at each other to decide who’s going to break the news.
Steve goes first. “The kids are gone.”
Joyce, who has been standing beside Hopper and shaking since they got back into the office, lets out a wail that breaks his heart. She collapses forward, barely catching herself on his desk, and Steve quickly pushes a chair around for her to fall into. She grabs his wrist before he can get away. “Gone where?”
“Uh, we’re not sure, exactly, but we think -”
“The Upside Down,” Max finishes.
Hopper resists the urge to flip his desk across the room. “All of them?”
Steve and Max both nod.
He doesn’t want to ask, but he has to ask, he has to know, “Even-”
“Eleven’s with them,” Max says.
He punches the desk hard enough that everything on it rattles, and then he punches it again, and again, until his pencil holder rattles right off the edge and falls to the floor.
Steve looks down at the fallen pencils as though one of them actually got him in the chest.
“How. Did this. Happen,” he grinds out through gritted teeth.
“El had this feeling,” Max begins, and she's speaking more cautiously than Hopper has ever heard her do so before, “that something weird was going on in the forest near the lab. We thought maybe there was a gap, or a small tear, or something, and we were just going to check it out -”
“And you let them?” Hopper snaps at Steve.
He blanches, tries to step away but is held in place by Joyce’s iron grip. “I thought they were just trying out a new race track, honestly, if I’d known -”
“He wouldn’t have taken us,” Max says. “So we didn’t tell him. And we really didn’t think it’d be that big of a deal, we were just gonna look and then come and tell you, but then -”
“Then what?” Joyce asks, her voice wavering.
Max takes a deep breath. “Then El started saying something about a girl screaming, and Mike asked if there was someone in trouble, and El said no, it wasn’t a come help scream, it was a get away scream.”
Joyce sobs, finally letting go of Steve’s arm to cover her mouth with both hands. He doesn’t move, though, standing frozen as he listens to Max’s recount.
“And then this - this thing came out of the trees -”
“A Demogorgon?” Joyce asks, well versed in the kid’s language.
“Maybe, I don’t know -”
“It looked like it,” Steve says, shuddering. “But there was this - this light, this bright blue light behind it, and then -”
“And then El tried to fight it but it kept coming, and we all tried to fight it but it was too much, and the light got stronger and brighter, and we were screaming for everyone to run, just run -”
“And we did, we all turned to bolt, even El, but -”
“But we were the only ones fast enough,” Max says, and her barely-held composure finally breaks. She starts to sob.
Steve’s eyes are glistening now too. He puts a hand on Max’s shoulder and squeezes. “We tried to get the others, we tried to stick together as a group, but we - It was too fast, too strong -” He breaks off, swiping at his eyes.
Hopper can’t breathe. His hands are clenched into tight fists and he’s barely aware of Joyce sobbing hysterically beside him, or the kids standing in front of him shaking and crying. All he can think of is Eleven, and the promise he’d made to keep her safe.
“Take me there,” he says, voice firm.
All three of them blink up at him.
“You want to go to the Demogorgon?” Max asks.
“I want to get my daughter and her friends back,” Hopper says. “So you’re going to take me to where you last saw them, and we’re going to kill that son of a bitch and bring them home.”

On his 90th birthday, Stephen Sondheim sang Happy Birthday to Andrew Lloyd Webber…while washing his hands for 20 seconds in his bathroom sink — a playful gesture that is an instantly iconic moment for this new era.
It was Andrew Lloyd Webber’s birthday as well; he turned 72, and the younger composer had more straightforwardly wished Sondheim a happy birthday from his piano room.
They both did this live on the one-night only resurrected Rosie O’Donnell Show (watch here), a fundraiser for The Actors Fund that lasted three and a half hours on Sunday night and featured dozens of Broadway stars, performing from their home via home cam. It was all a reflection of an emerging aesthetic in theater, in the face of the stay-at-home mandate to curb the spread of the coronavirus. Call it the theatrical equivalent of home cooking.
Some of Rosie’s guests had messages meant to inspire. “We lived through a Plague before,” Judith Light said, referring to AIDS. “We were together then, and we’ll be together now.” Click on the photographs of other guests for the captions.

At home, Lin-Manuel Miranda singing from Hamilton live for The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon
The Rosie O’Donnell Show was meant to be a one-time affair. So was 24 Hour Plays’ “Viral Monologues” — 20 scripted monologues by established playwrights for well-known performers. Similar “home cooking” hybrid theater shows have sprouted up in the last few days aiming to be regular series — including the twice daily Stars in the House, with hosts with hosts Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley, and the daily National Yiddish Theater’s Folksbiene Live, as well as La Mama’s weekly Downtown Variety — the first of which I reviewed, Downtown Variety #1,
There are also plays that had been slated for the stage that are experimenting with online runs, some free, some charging admission. Launching today (March 23) are Ren Dara Santiago’s “The Siblings Play” at Rattlestick Playwright Theater in New York, and Lauren Gunderson’s “I and You” from the Hampstead Theater in the UK. There will be more such online runs, given Actors’ Equity’s new, temporary contracts that allow select producers to record and then release performances online to ticket buyers. (The agreements do not apply to Broadway, which already include rules for “media capture.”)
For details on these and other online theater, including a roundup of theater-oriented online streaming services and Broadway fare on Amazon Prime and Netflix, check out my post: Where To Get Your Theater Fix Online, Old Favorites and New Experiments (Plus Lin-Manuel Miranda & Joshua Henry) #DontScreamLiveStream

Artist and Theater Support
The Broadway League and the 14 Broadway unions hammered out an “emergency relief” agreement that, for a few weeks anyway, will support the Broadway cast and crew now without employment, and continue their health insurance.
Financial Fallout of the Coronavirus New York’s performing-arts scene has taken hits before—after 9/11, during the recession that began in 2007, after Hurricane Sandy—but its elimination for an indefinite period of time is unprecedented….“All theatre people, except the ones who have institutional jobs—we’re gig people,” Daniel Goldstein, co-writer of “Unknown Soldier” whose day job, as an associate director on the Broadway show “Come From Away” is also now gone, said. “We’re no different than a handyman. When the theatres closed we were literally all unemployed. Everyone I know is unemployed.”

“The New York Community Trust has announced that it’s administering the NYC COVID-19 Response and Impact Fund, a massive system of grants and interest-free loans from what we hope is a bottomless bucket of money. A consortium of more than a dozen funders — including the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Bloomberg Philanthropies, the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, the Ford Foundation, and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund — have pooled around $75 million in funds to relieve social services, arts, and cultural institutions.”
From the COVID-19 Fund’s page:
“Your organization is eligible to apply for a loan if you:

  Grim Coronavirus News
New York has now become the epicenter of the coronavirus in the United States, as the Atlantic Magazine coronavirus tracker makes clear. New York State has about half of all the cases in the U.S., and the vast majority of the cases in the state are centers in the New York City region.
Coronavirus in N.Y.C.: Region Is Now an Epicenter of the Pandemic “Three weeks after its first coronavirus infection was discovered, the New York City region reached an alarming milestone on Sunday: It now accounts for roughly 5 percent of the world’s confirmed cases, making it an epicenter of the pandemic and increasing pressure on officials to take more drastic measures….As of 8 p.m. on Sunday, all nonessential businesses were ordered closed… Residents were told to stay inside except for necessities like food, medicine and short bouts of exercise.”

When Will Broadway Reopen?
Given the exponential spread of the coronavirus, and the ever-more drastic measures promised to try to curb it, the initial goal of reopening Broadway on April 12th is looking increasingly unrealistic.
Broadway isn’t coming back until the summer — at best — producers speculate to Michael Riedel, & @TheTonyAwards not until Fall. But Broadway WILL come back. https://t.co/bBpKAD7j2J pic.twitter.com/y2meUhNxjV

Cancellations
Since the shut-down of Broadway on March 12th and of all New York City theaters on March 15th, there has been such a steady stream of news reports, e-mails and Tweets announcing cancellations, that it’s easier to point to what is actually staying open or still scheduled – nothing, really, except what’s happening online.
But several cancellations in particular sting.
Show Score, the critic aggregation site that had already cut back, is shutting down — they hope temporarily.

Rest in Peace
Gerald Freedman, 92, renowned director, artistic director, and educator whose students included Robin Williams and Mandy Patinkin, was a 21-time Broadway veteran, beginning as a directorial assistant to Jerome Robbins on the original Broadway production of “West Side Story.”  Among the dozens of shows he directed Off Broadway was the original production of the musical “Hair” at the Public Theater. He went on to become for 21 years the dean of the School of Drama at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, which named its theater after him.

Of course, not everything is about death. Some good things happened this year. I’m going to stick to the fashion world, in this one.
• More insight and awareness was achieved in the struggles and pressure male actors Cover Girl hired James Charles, the first male model to advertise make up. This is a big step in normalizing the use of make up, by men.
 • Several models, including Jaden Smith, stood up against gender norms and began advertising skirts and dresses
.• Colton Hayes received the visibility award from the Human Rights Campaign. This year has been amazing at highlighting gender issues and destroying gender stereotypes.
Top five favorites confessions:
1. I think it is important to raise awareness on this matter. It is usually easy to dismiss the idea that men do not suffer from sexism but here is the unglamorous truth and the problem with the social constructs of masculinity. [I think it is important that we address this issue. Sexism is not excluded to female models.]
2. I just saw the BBC report on modelling agencies demanding to end gender pay gap in modelling. The argument is actually very fair, but in the long run male models and their agencies will never see it, because as Ty Ogunkoya (featured in the report) said; nobody wants to speak out because they will lose modelling jobs, and male models are just happy that they’re given the opportunity. [I like this one because It sheds light on a major problem in the fashion industry.]
3. I hate what that person said about Marc Schulze’s girlfriend. She’s super pretty and just because someone’s SUPER attractive (Marc) doesn’t mean that they aren’t allowed to like people who are less attractive. Which I don’t even think she is less attractive. [I love that someone stood up for a model’s girlfriend, rather than tearing them down.]
4. It’s pretty damn sad to see people say “oh it’d be sad if” or ‘what a waste if “ Ben Allen is gay. People - it’s not a 'waste’ or 'sad’ if someone isn’t heterosexual and you are. That’s you being selfish and talking about a person as if they are 'property’ you could potentially own, and you dismissing their worth based on your personal preferences. Rude! [I agree with this statement on so many levels. It is not sad that these people have a life outside of modeling.]
5. Felix Gesnouin is not ugly at all, i like the fact that he is not dating a model…(like most of male models nowdays) and he is really a funny guy,i worked with him once in London. [I seriously love when people right in and defend the models.]
5 of my least favorite confessions:
1. No thanks. CoverGirl used James Charles as a token. Not groundbreaking…[I disagree. This was a groundbreaking move for CoverGirl.]
2. Ben Allen is so gross, honestly. I was at a small party that he was at and everyone was so uncomfortable around him and no one wanted to talk to him because he was saying some ridiculous shit and acting real fucking cocky. He is hot garbage. [I hate when people completely tear into the models.]
3. I’m so happy RJ King finally came out! I mean, it felt like everyone already knew except him. There were already so many rumors circulating back then. Much love to them both! [I love the positivity in this post, but I don’t like outing anyone.]
4. French model Paul Hameline comes off as over-sexed and lustful, but in a good way that makes you want to rip his pants off without shame. His Instagram is full of nearly naked men, sometimes engaging in sex! I think he has a fling with Jonas Gloer. [His Instagram seriously disturbed me, but I thought this confession was too judgmental on the man’s sexuality.]
5. This is a photo of Kristof Kralik taken by Nicolas Hagius (another male model) that pretty much show how pigs and misogynist some male models can actually. The “funny” thing is right after this Kristof and Nicolas stopped working for some time in the big markets, upto some time ago (Kristof walked Versace A/W 2016). I’ve always wondered what is the real reason why guys become male models, they always say because of traveling and meeting new people, it seems like some of them want to be a douchebag in as many different countries as they can be. [I think the picture was taken out of context. You cannot always judge a picture at face value.]
Well, that is another year in review. I wish everyone a Happy New Year.

Bobby Bones is the reigning MBT ~champ, if you can call him that lol, so it's understandable why tptb would give him some screen time during the premier. But many many former celeb contestants who live in LA, or when they're in town, go to the live shows and can be seen in DWTS audiences...everyone from Florence Henderson (RIP), Brandy, and Jennifer Grey, to Meryl's S18 castmates Danica and Candace are there all the time. Meryl's just a boring stick in the mud.

November 27, 2016
It's Sunday night. Time for THOUGHTS BEFORE BED.
1. "You shouldn't put down a loser, Cindy, because you might be one yourself someday. Just remember that." Carol Brady (RIP Florence Henderson) 2. My blood pressure has been normal even through three days of the flu. 3. Mom has been really confused this week. I am afraid I am seeing another progression in her Alzheimers. I think she is aware of the change too which is tough. 4. In between fever bouts and all that sick stuff, I managed to get my parents Christmas decorations up. THANKS to my sister and my nephew for all of the help. I even put lights up outside like Dad used to do. I just want everything to be perfect for them. 5. Some days, I wonder what my life would be like IF... Well, if a lot of things. 6. Christmas is my favorite time of year. 7. As soon as I think I can stomach it, I will be binge drinking egg nog. 8. This will be the first year in many that I won't be able to give my family a trip for Christmas. It makes me sad. But... I will do what I can with what I have. 9. Dear City of St. Louis, you move at a snail's pace with anything that is remotely important. #Ishouldtotallyrunformayor 10. #NoDAPL (if you can BE in Standing Rock by December 4th, you should be there. If you can't PLEASE PRAY. Native people are a spiritual people who believe in the power of prayer. Standing Rock needs prayers right now and especially on December 5th.)
Early to bed, early to rise. Sleep well everyone. Love to all of you!
