Damian Wayne is an extra motherfucker and he COMMITS to his very weird ideas. Also lbr, I thought it was funnier to set this as early in his character development as possible, so he's actually more like ten in this fic, haha.

Comic ages mean NOTHING, okay? NOTHING! There is literally no way to make the comic ages make sense, so I don't even try! 😆

The Poly Core Four pocket names... Are they references? They're so cute...

"Ringer" is a reference to the kryptonite ring that happened the first time Tim and Kon met, and also a pun on the fact he's a "dead ringer" for Superman. "Favor" is for Cassie getting her powers via godly favor, and "Warning" is because there's a version of events where Bart got the name "Impulse" from Batman as, explicitly, a "warning". I assumed they all got named before Tim knew any of the others very well, so he went with fairly straightforward options.

I miiiiight change Favor and Warning in editing if I think of something better, but Ringer I really like, so that one's probably sticking.

I am utterly besotted with ‘Damian gets a pocket’! And getting to reread the snippet of Tim asking if Damian’s Named his pocket yet when a few paragraphs later we establish that the ONLY name that Damian could possibly consider calling his pocket is ‘Beloved’ unless there’s a serious objection on not-Billy’s part!

Damian turning around his league training on ID-ing a pocket’s origin as a pressure point in order to find his clearly Not-Exactly-Okay Soulmate is a lovely thing to read, too.

Billy must be having a fucking heart attack while trying to figure out how to look after a tiny, stubborn, prideful and stoic little pocket who would Fight God on his behalf.

Thank you, I was surprised by how much everybody seems to like that one, but definitely pleased! I got the idea for the fic from @dcmainlybillythoughts, they showed me a real cute sketch of Damian with a Pocket!Billy that they were working on and it just AWAKENED something in me, haha.

Damian: obviously there is only one name worthy of this Pocket who I am assassin-detecting the origins of. Pocket Billy, too busy swooning to even consider any objections, but definitely going to blush like HECK every time he gets called his name: SQUEAK!!

Elsewhere Billy is still just trying to extricate Pocket!Damian from Tawky's ruff with absolutely zero success. Right up until somebody insults him, anyway, at which point he's got a stabby lil' Pocket assassin to contain. POCKET NO WHERE DID YOU EVEN GET A SWORD--

Oh, these are actually unrelated Pocket AUs, hah, I just couldn't resist the siren call of Core Four polyam making it potentially confusing.

I mean I COULD have given Tim a Pocket Bernard to make the fact they were different AUs clearer, definitely, but it liiiiiterally did not even occur to me versus doing Core Four Polyam. 😅

I'm sorry, Bernard, I love you but it's more cuddles for Pocket Billy this way!!

I was first thinking about sending this ask while reading one of the Match POV ones, I believe the one where he was being panic-adopted and thinking about how Superman will discard him if he's not useful. But the thought came up again with Damian being so sure his pocket isn't Captain Marvel

my little sister was watching teen titans go today and pockets came up????? cyborg had bought a punch of robin pockets (and squashed them accidentally). i was sat in the same room as her and as soon as i heard it my head literally swiveled around to see what happened. such a weird coincidence - i thought it was just a fanon thing

I have some Pocket Logistics questions. In Damien Gets a Pocket, Tim has 3. Is this in the same universe as your story where Tim, Cassie, and Bart all get a Kon Pocket? Or is it slightly to the left? And do all four of them have 3 pockets? Cuz that sounds like a Pocket Party whenever they meet up. 12 Pockets. What happens when a Pocket meets a copy of itself?

If you decide to wait til WIP Wednesday to answer, I understand. But this feels more like a meta than a request.

Questions are fine whenever, I don't mind 'em! Actually I enjoy them, haha, and you def don't have to wait for WIP Wednesday to send me asks. Just requests I prefer to keep to specific days/times, otherwise I'd friggin' drown, hahaha. 😅

It is not the same 'verse as the Konettes 'verse, we'll call it slightly to the left, yeah, haha. I should've just given Tim a Pocket!Bernard for clarity purposes and I probably would've if I'd thought of it, but also three Pockets simultaneously fussing over Pocket!Billy was just SUCH a cute mental image that it didn't even occur to me, hah. I'm sorry, Bernard, you don't have a cool leather jacket to give the kiddo!!

Also yes, they all four of them have three Pockets apiece, and there are FULLY Pocket Parties every time they meet, lol. As for what happens with matching Pockets meeting up, I choose to believe that whatever it is is just full-stop adorable. ❤️ Maybe they team up? Maybe they fight?? IT'S ALL STILL ADORABLE.

Correct! Colin Wilkes is . . . actually not a character I'm sure is even active since the New 52 happened, but he's a traumatized orphan kid with a few phobias/mental illnesses who was experimented on by Scarecrow with a copy of Bane's Venom and can now transform at will into an adult form with super-strength and durability and also a healing factor. He was I belieeeeeve the first friend Damian actually made back in the day, though I'm not super-familiar with his character, I just really like what I know of him and also their friendship. I'm sorry, Jon, but Damian making friends with this kid is just WAY more developmentally interesting than him making friends with you on SO many levels. It just is, I'm SORRY.

And like, I didn't INTENTIONALLY go straight to Damian's one orphan buddy in the system who can turn into an adult at will for this fic, but also, like, seems on-topic for the developing situation . . . ? 😆

It's a specific soulmate AU that @bucky-boychik-barnes came up with; the basic concept is that you get a little autonomous version of your soulmate called a "Pocket" that just, like, hangs out with you and is your lil' buddy!

One day I may yet write a fic where Tim accidentally-on-purpose clones Kon AND Bart AND Steph and maybe kinda just makes a bonus Cassie while he's on a roll and they're not really speaking like they used to and then has a nervous breakdown about it.

( I say "THEN" like making them all to begin with wouldn't have been its OWN nervous breakdown, of course . . . )
