ringo from goodsprings really did just like get mugged by a gang, become besties with the only other mailman victim of violent crime in goodsprings, and just like go back to his job like normal after his new friend rallied a whole ass town to save him from being violent crimed again, only for over the next few weeks for his new friend to like become one of the most influential political figures with the ability to fucking change the tide of a whole ass war. and like, when his friend comes to visit him he's like, "hey bestie how's your life :) i got a cool new job :) wanna play cards? :))"
he's such a sweetie i love him. he doesnt care about all the situations™ the courier's been subjected to he just wants to play cards with his friend.

FNV Minor Character Poll - WINNER-TAKE-ALL SUPERFINAL
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Left: The Challenger, Trudy, proprietor of the Goodsprings Saloon. —"If you were able to get Ringo out of this mess, you'd have a decent reputation around Goodsprings. I'd even set you up with a discount."
Trudy's designated cheerleader is @sas-afras! trudy is, as the "town mom" of goodsprings, a representation of the people whose lives will most be affected by the state of the mojave by endgame. someone who just wants to live their life in peace, who has no stake in nor control over what happens to the dam, who no one in power wants to give a fuck about. she is the everywoman!! the proletariat worker!! MY MOM!!!!!!!! the fact that she can die so quickly in the first hour of the game as part of the couriers first "moral choice" (as simplistic as it may be) is a microcosm of that role, and its a shame she didnt get the development time she deserved. i love her and her hidden lesbian polycule. also, i will die on any hill if that hill is a woman. VOTE TRUDY!! Trudy was the twentieth seed in the tournament overall and a semi-finalist in the A-side bracket. She beat Ignacio Rivas, Francine & James Garrett, and Fantastic before being defeated by Keely in tournament semi-finals.
Right: The champion, Beatrix Russell, hired guard at the Old Mormon Fort and potential sex worker at the Atomic Wrangler. —"Longing makes the heart grow fonder, but I’ve always been a fan of hog-tying my lovers to make sure they can’t escape.“
Beatrix's designated cheerleader is @fnvminorcharacterpoll (@fallout-lou-begas)! That's right, it's me, your tournament organizer and the operator of this blog. In the interest of avoiding bias, I've refrained from using my platform this way to advocate for my own favorite picks during the tournament (r.i.p. ranger ghost), but now I have no such qualms. Why? Because the tournament is over. We have a winner! Beatrix Russell, a phenomenal and worthwhile character who's funny, rowdy, sexy, filthy, old, weird, rough, and immediately fascinating fights for her life to get the title belt, and now my opposing cheerleader refuses to recognize the results? The audacity! The shamelessness! The Fallout: New Vegas Minor Character Poll tournament blog would ordinarily not even entertain such audacious claims of illegitimacy, but if my opponent wants Trudy to step back into the ring so bad, then by God, she can step in the ring. We'll all go one last time. But Trudy's in over her head: Beatrix has won every bracket she's entered in a landslide. Meanwhile Trudy got knocked out by Keely, who Beatrix beat! See, Trudy, the numbers don't lie: and they spell disaster for you in the superfinals. Beatrix was the seventh seed in the tournament overall and the winner of the tournament overall. She beat Chomps Lewis, the Lonesome Drifter, Siri, Daisy Whitman, No-Bark Noonan, and Keely to become the grand champion.

If FNV was perfect (and kinda excessive) you’d get one companion for each faction I think. In theory it might look something likeeee NCR Companion: Boone already fits the bill for a solid NCR companion imo. He could be a little more interesting though.
Legion Companion: I think Vulpes Inculta was already a cut Legion companion, but it makes sense that a Legion spy would accompany the courier to infiltrate/attack the NCR/Strip.
House Companion: Mr. House already used Victor to keep tabs on the courier, so it makes sense to me that Victor could become a companion. Or just a regular securitron.
Independent Companion: I think a lot of companions already fall under this, but both Benny and Yes Man work too. Both are just as invested in making Vegas independent.
Boomers Companion: I don’t think any of the Boomers would want to leave their base tbh. Also I have no idea besides one of the Mister Gutsys maybe.
Brotherhood of Steel Companion: Veronica is already the perfect BoS companion narratively but I think it’d be funny if you could drag McNamara around.
Followers of the Apocalypse Companion: Arcade is already a good Followers/Independent companion but while it doesn’t make complete sense for her to follow the courier around instead of helping at the Old Mormon Fort... Julie Farkas :3
Great Khans Companion: Melissa Lewis is just kinda hanging around Deathclaws with nothing better to do anyway, like.
Crimson Caravan: I don’t think anyone is begging for a Crimson Caravan companion but it’d be kinda neat if there was a caravan guard up for hire with nothing better to do. Also, Ringo.
Mojave Express Companion: I’m still kinda shocked there’s only one courier companion mod out there. Anyway I think there should either be a courier who wasn’t targeted by Benny and/or Ulysses companion (he was already a cut companion too).
Fiends Companion: Driver Nephi is the meme option but I think there could easily be a Fiend hanging around Vault 3 with nothing better to do but leave.
Goodsprings Companion: I can’t imagine Sunny Smiles leaving Goodsprings to travel all over the Mojave, but I think she could accompany the courier for the first third of the game maybe. Because reasons.
Kings Companion: Rex already exists but I’d love a human Kings companion with a lot to say about every spot in Freeside and the Strip. Maybe a guide/bodyguard.
Powder Gangers Companion: I still think Boxcars would make a cool early-game companion after passing a medicine check, but anyone from the NCRCF could be looking for a good opportunity to leave.
Bright Brotherhood: I think it’d be funny if Harland decided to go with you to deal with the Nightkin and then just kept following you.

OH AND SUNNY SMILES MY BEST FRIEND SUNNY SMILES <3
Sexuality Headcanon: Token straight
Gender Headcanon: N/A
A ship I have with said character: I can see her developing a crush on Ringo, though she likes Goodsprings too much to leave and Ringo is still in a Crimson Caravan contract </3
A BROTP I have with said character: Her and Cheyenne of course, they're inseparable :)
A NOTP I have with said character: N/A
A random headcanon: She grew up near Goodsprings and never really cared to travel far, in her eyes everything she needs is in the wasteland wilds. She much prefers the wilderness or cozy little settlements over the civilization of NCR lands
General Opinion over said character: I LOVEEE SUNNY she's so sweet, I really love how kind Doc Mitchell and Sunny are considering they're your first real interactions with people in the game aside from getting shot in the head. I always go Gecko hunting with her even though it's just an extended tutorial and I've played it a billion times

Powder Ganger Camps Ranked from My Least to Most Favourite
Yeah, I'm ranking Powder Ganger Camps today, the ones labelled as 'Powder Ganger Camp [Direction]', not gonna include any old place Powder Gangers are.
There's no real point to this, it's just a bit of fun, y'know? If you have strong opinions for or against the rankings, share ya own rankings because this is such a weird little subject I'm sure it'd be fun to talk about.
4th: Powder Ganger Camp East
Tumblr media
It kinda pains me to put this one at the bottom, but I have to be honest with myself. I love this camp in concept, a Powder Charger Field protecting a small fortified position. Everything in the camp including the ammo boxes, Healing Powder, Med-X and RadAway are unowned. So you can steal their stuff, however they tended to turn hostile to my presence in the camp while getting images, so I had to put on a Disguise*. It's also the only camp with no Powder Ganger Note. This camp feels like it only exists to complete the directions.
*No Gangers were harmed in the making of this list, I got the disguise off the body at Ringo's Caravan.
3rd: Powder Ganger Camp South
Tumblr media
This camp is deceptivly well guarded, having Powder Charges both in the obvious entries of the sides, but also some on the approach to the roof behind it. There is the odd fact of them keeping a Radioactive Barrel next to their beds (with a Med-X on it). It features a Note, but, sadly, the Note isn't unique, being identical to the one at Powder Ganger Camp North.
2nd: Powder Ganger Camp North
Tumblr media
The only Powder Ganger Camp that's connected to a mission. As you'll probably know this is where the Chavez Powder Gang operates. It's kind of funny when you realise their viewing platform can literally see NCRCF, Chavez really wasn't scared of Eddie at all. Who knows maybe Chavez took the 'FIGHT APATHY or don't...' graffiti to heart (or did it himself). This is the only Power Ganger Camp without Powder Charges, the Note is same as the South Note. There's a Lad's Life and Dino Toy (one of the first you can find), so that's nice. I rank this so high because this is the Camp that has further context, it's own unique and identified Powder Gang, even.
1st: Powder Ganger Camp West
Tumblr media
How could I not put Powder Ganger Camp West at the top? I mean, this is the standard introduction to Powder Ganger Camps (and Powder Charges) due to it's position between Goodsprings and Primm. It's got a unique note. It's the most iconic Powder Ganger Camp in the game as far as I'm concerned.
So, Powder Ganger Camp West gets the Delafiseaseses Top Powder Ganger Camp Award. I'm sure the Gangers that call this Camp home would be very happy with that... or maybe just ask if I'm eyeballing them. Hahahaa.

The thing about the horrendous ncrcf roomies situation is that they do not could not really hate each other at all or they would not have survived long enough to escape but also that they do not like each other at all. The only circumstances in which Cave Mann, Joe Cobb, Box Cars and Oliver Swanick hangout are being randomly selected to be locked in a cell together via ncr beaurocracy. They just scatter like roaches upon getting out. Joe Cobb had other friends in the prison that he was specifically being separated from and they are who he leaves with and takes to goodsprings. I do not believe boxcar and Oliver went to nipton together I think they both ended up there traveling with different groups. Those 3 were cave had in ncrcf before Samuel Cooke showed up but he would rather try to track down anything left of his old family of jackals then spend another day with any of them. He's still close enough to Cobb that he's willing to give up on ringo when he hears the people of goodsprings helped cave get back 9n his feet after being shot and left for dead by some Vegas rat

"I am going to ruin you." for the most appropriate barbies :3c
[warning: nsfw themes but nothing explicit]
They were so close. The front door to the tower of apartments was in Varmint’s sight, sickly fluorescent peering through rust eaten cracks. Wilful and impatient as ever, she caught Ringo by his overall belt loops, pulling him backwards mid stride. He teetered a moment before landing flush against her chest.
“This is takin’ too long.”
Her breath burned hot over his cheek, head canted down, long fingers snaking around his hips.
“I didn’t realize we were in a hurry.” She could hear the unimpressed glare from his voice alone, but she could feel the goosebumps prickling on his skin much clearer.
A muffled shout and the echo of shattering glass near the Atomic Wrangler carried through the alleyway right as Ringo began to pry one of her hands off. “Whatdya want from me, Mint? We aren’t gettin’ home anytime soon at this speed.”
Varmint didn’t reply. The moment he dropped her hand, it went back to work, ghosting over his bare arm and up to the cuff of his flannel where she could trace her way to his collar to pop the top button. They hadn’t known each other long enough to claim uncanny familiarity, but he hadn’t been a hard nut to crack. A languid touch there, a harsh nip there, and he was at her mercy.
And that was the problem, wasn’t it? He hid his hunger beneath well-mannered restraint; the perfect man to bring home to Mom and Pop if Varmint considered herself to have any. She wanted that brashness that had greeted her with a gun to the head back in Goodsprings and spit on Joe Cobbs’ cooling corpse.
She huffed a somewhat pathetic sigh and let her grasp fall away. “Ringo.”
He turned at the waist to look up at her. “What?”
“You’re no fun.”
His eyes narrowed challengingly as she gave him an over-exaggerated pout, though she wasn’t sure whether it was an encouraging sign or not. “I’m no fun? Really? Because that’s not what you were saying this mornin’.”
Varmint shrugged, gaze sliding back to her apartment building as if she was eyeing her escape route. The moment she stepped around him, he was grabbing her by the wrist, fingers lightly digging into flesh.
“Maybe you just need a little reminder.”
Something sparked in Varmint’s gut, but for as self-assured as his tone was, he seemed to be searching her face for encouragement, afraid of misstepping. She parted her lips just a hair and allowed her shoulders to fall loose.
“Oh?” It was a safe tease, one that said she didn’t quite believe him, but that carried enough intrigue to egg him on. “Then remind me.”
Barely a moment later her back was colliding with a brick wall.
It couldn’t be that easy— could it?
Lips and hands answered that question for her and she was practically giddy, going all but limp in his grasp. She let out a hushed, encouraging moan as he pinned her wrists against rough brick before forcing her thighs apart with a knee.
His hesitation was so brief she almost missed it.
“I’m going to ruin you.”
Her eyes went wide, though she barely wrestled down the grin that threatened to curl on her lips.
“Prove it.”

Dear Diary, fuck that sounds cliche. What am I 12? Ugh, okay let's just, well. I got shot, in the head, at point blank range. How the fuck am I alive? Who fuckin knows, random ass Securitron out in this backwater town of Goodsprings for no damn reason saved my ass and took me to a guy called Doc Mitchell. Did a damn good job patching me up. Been out for a little over a week, Doc recognized my insulin and rigged a Pip-Boy to me to function as a more advanced pump and a way to better use and cool said insulin. Thanked him a thousand fucking times for that, this shit is expensive and he just gave it away. Met a nice chick named Sunny after that, went and did some Gecko hunting with her, knocked the old rust off my accuracy. NCRCF had a prison break recently it seems, maybe while I was out? Could be older though. Apparently they have been raiding caravans along the highway. Guy named Ringo, Crimson Caravan, escaped after they were ambushed "Without so much as a hands up and drop your weapons." Joe Cobb has been threatening this nice little town. I know some of the chain gangers were here on trumped up charges, but I ain't gonna let 'em threaten these nice folks who saved me from a fucking shallow grave. Rounded up what help I can, meds from Doc, some armor and ammo from Chet, and set up a plan of attack with Trudy. Sunny needed no convincing. Gonna sleep in the gas station with Ringo, in shifts in case they try and sneak around to him. We're expecting em to come at any moment now.

DAY 2: FALLOUT NEW VEGAS
I first played New Vegas a while ago but rushed through it, recently I’ve given it a better chance and holy crap do I love this game’s clever quests and world building. You’re a courier in a post-nuclear Nevada making choices all the time. Your choices can range from blatantly good or evil, to moral dilemmas that I have to sit and think about for ten straight minutes. You make some hard choices in New Vegas, and there are a lot of choices. Given any situation, there are any number of ways it can play out. It truly feels like a world that’s alive and responds to your actions - if you’re evil and turn on everybody, word will get around and people will attack you on sight. You have reputations with groups that you meet, and it affects how you interact with them. At the beginning of the game, you’re shot in the head for your package but saved by a man named Doc Mitchell in the small town of Goodsprings. He gets you back on your feet and you start meeting the locals. You walk into the bar and see a man named Joe Cobb arguing with the bartender, Trudy. He’s looking for a man named Ringo hiding in the gas station. Joe is the leader of escaped convicts named the Powder Gangers, named after their signature weapon, dynamite they were supposed to use to clear rock at the prison. You have multiple options from the moment you see him: a) Shoot him immediately (and scare everybody) b) Threaten him to leave c) Tell him it’s not worth the trouble d) Ignore it and let it play out The game leads you into situations without you even realizing it, making you curious and wanting to step in. And this is the tutorial part of the game! I especially love character creation as your character starts with specific skills, you can choose to be good at shooting, but that means less skill in everything else - like speech or medicine. But, throughout your journey, multiple skills will be put to the test in dialogue - if somebody needs something fixed, you can repair it if your repair skill is high enough! If you want Easy Pete’s dynamite to help fight the Powder Gangers, you have to prove to him that you won’t hurt yourself with it! This means that some choices may be unavailable to you, but it also lets you fail the skill checks - leading to some really funny dialogue. Choice in games is good, actually. :) Here’s Yes Man, a funky robot guy who can’t say no:

Part 3 - Ghost Town Gun Fight
“People of the town helped me a lot after I got shot in the head, it’s time to pay them back and be even
Tumblr media
“It looks like our little town got itself dragged into the middle of something we don't want anything to do with. About a week ago, this trader, Ringo, comes into town. Survivor of an attack, he says. Bad men after him, needs a place to hide. We figured he was just in shock, so we gave him a place to lie low. We didn't actually expect anyone to come after him.”
“Where is Ringo now?”
“He's holed up at the abandoned gas station up the hill.”
“Why not just kill Cobb and be done with it?”
“You mean murder him? That's not our way, even if Cobb is scum. He can bluster and threaten all he wants.”
“What are you going to do?”
“Some of the others, like Sunny, will probably stand up for Ringo if he asks for help, which he hasn't. Personally, I hope he sneaks out of town one night and takes the Powder Gangers with him.”
“Power Gangers?”
“Chain gangs, really. The NCR brought them in from California to work on the rail lines. Problem is, it turns out that giving convicts a bunch of dynamite and blasting powder isn't the best idea. Was a big escape not too long ago. Some of 'em stuck together so they could make trouble. That's what we're dealing with now.”
Wow, looks like NCR really brought this on themselves. Who had the bright idea to give convicts some fucking dynamite? I’m surpised they didn’t break out sooner.
“What happens if I help Ringo?”
“If you were able to get Ringo out of this mess, you'd have a decent reputation around Goodsprings. I'd even set you up with a discount. Of course, helping Ringo would also make the Powder Gangers mad, and they've got a lot of friends out there.”
No... they don’t, They only have like a few camps around the prison and even then they aren’t very tough, they die in two shots with a Varmint Rifle that’s loaded with .223 ammunition. I know I’m not going to lose anything if I piss them of so let’s go help that trader.
But before that, we got ourselves a level up and our first set of perks!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Black Widow - Lady Killer” “Cherchez La Femme- Confirmed Bachelor”
Two sets of perks that gives you +10% damage against a certain sex while occasinally giving you a unique dialouge when talking to them. The first set affects the members of the opposite sex while the second set affects the members of the similair sex. Quite good for a roleplay perk.
Tumblr media
“Friend of the Night”  Needs: Perception 6, Sneak 30 “ You are a true friend of the night. Your eyes adapt quickly to low-light conditions indoors and when darkness falls across the post-nuclear wasteland.”
Gives you an ugly blue filter while it’s night. Shit perk, don’t pick it
Tumblr media
“Hunter”  Needs: Survival 30
Gives you +75% more critical damage againts animals... Which are the weakest enemy type in the game. The only dangerous animals that can be considered dangerous are the Yao Guai’s from the Honest Hearts DLC and Lakelurks. Pick it if you want to increase your damage against those two but I don’t think it’s worth it
Tumblr media
“Heave, Ho!”  Needs: Strength 5, Explosives 30
You throw all grenades far further and faster than normal. Not only that but this also affects the weapons that fire in an arc like Grenade Launchers. Quite good for my planed build but far fron necessary. I might pick it later down the line though
Tumblr media
“In Shining Armor”  Needs: Repair 20, Science 70 “Beams reflect off the mirror-like finish of your gleaming armor! You gain an additional +5 Damage Threshold against energy weapons while wearing any metal armor, +2 while wearing reflective eyewear.”
Metal Armors, especially Power Armors, already have high DT so getting a bit more DT on a specific weapon type ain’t a bad idea, even if that weapon type isn’t that common. Shame the whole reflecting part is just flavor text because having shots from energy weapons reflect on to the enemy would’ve been cool. All in all, not a bad perk...
...or at least it would be if it fucking worked. Yeah, some genius over at Obisidan coded this weapon to check for “Energy” instead of “EnergyWeapons” this perk literally doesn’t do anything
Tumblr media
“Junk Rounds”  Needs: Luck 6, Repair 45 “Survival is the mother of invention! Craft ammo at the Reloading Bench using alternate materials (1Scrap Metal, 5 Tin Cans and appropriate casing).”
...............
OKAY!! This entire perk would’ve been somewhat acceptable if it required 1 Scrap and 1 Tin Can to make a SINGLE bullet, which you have to use the non-bent ones by the way, you have to obey the whims of the perk and use slightly less common in tact Tin Cans, but it has the audacity to ask for 5 Tin Cans meaning you have to live around with 6 pounds worth of junk to craft a single bullet. And it doesn’t even bypass the need for a casing, which is the hardest part to find in bullet crafting, if you are short of lead instead of using one whole lead and 5 Tin Cans for a bullet you could’ve broken down the Scrap Metal to get a 100 lead.
The only things the perk bypasses are the needs for an appropriate hull and a powder... which you can buy cheaply from a vendor or you could breakdown an ammo type you aren’t using, and even if you couldn’t, you could sell those Tin Cans and the Scrap Metal to get more than 1 ammo of the one you need.
It doesn’t even have advantage in the Dead Money DLC it came in because there are only 45 pieces of Scrap Metal found places in the Sierra Madre Casino. You get more from containers but there are only 8% chance it may spawn.
The entire fucking skill is junk. Waste of a perk, code and time.
Tumblr media
“Old World Gourmet” “Thanks to unclean living you've learned the secrets of the lounge lizards! +25% Addiction Resistance. +50% Health bonus from Snack Foods. Scotch, vodka and wine now give you Health in addition to their normal effects.”
Snack foods in general heal very little, for like 1(x5 seconds) HP. So if you apply the mathematics you’ll know that this perk upgrades that getting 1 HP back with a duration of 5 seconds to a gargantuan 1(x7 seconds).... Amazing! And the addiction resistance could’ve been... literally anything else
The actual main draw of this perk is that it turns the alcohol mention above into healing items that heal you with 2(x10 seconds) Not too shabby but I don’t think it’d be worth a perk point but ain’t a bad choice Especially if you’re roleplaying as an alcoholic character.
Tumblr media
“Light Touch”  Needs: Agility 6, Repair 45 “Heavy armor just isn't your thing, so you've learned to customize light armor for maximum benefit. While wearing light armor you gain a +5% Critical Hit Chance and your enemies suffer a -25% Critical Hit Chance.”
Wow Dead Money, you go from a perk that doesn’t work, to a perk that’s fucking worthless, to a perk that is decent at best and now you give us a perk that is lowkey overpowered.
At the cost of wearing a light armor, which if you’re doing a crit build you most likely are, your chances of being hit critically decrease by a lot and you get a +5 Critical Hit chance to boot. There are a lot of ways to increase your crit chance in this game and this is the first puzzle piece of it. A no brainer for a crit build and even if you aren’t making one, I’d still highly recommend it.
Tumblr media
“Rapid Reload”  Needs: Agility 5, Guns 30
Increases how fast you will reload your weapon by 25%. Almost necessary for all builds except the ones that focus on Melee and Unarmed. Especially good for weapons that reload with one bullet at a time like the .357 Magnum revolver or the shotgun weapons and explosive weapons since they are either heavy weapons which naturally have long reload times or they hold only one explosive. I’ll be picking this one
Tumblr media
“Retention”  Needs: Intelligence 5
Magazines last for 3 minutes instead of 1. The purpose of magazines is to use them once if you don’t meet the skill requirement for a skill check. Because those are one and done deals, it’s not worth it to pick this one. However you might want to consider this perk if you’re doing a Crit Build because the “True Police Stories” magazine, gives you a +5% Crit Chance and a 10% if you have Comprehension, will last longer.
Tumblr media
“Swift Learner”  Needs: Intelligence 4 (has 3 ranks)
Will increase your XP gain by 10%. Remeber how I said in my trait reviews that perks related to XP boosts aren’t worth it? I hope you do
After the perk review, I pick Rapid Reload and move one to the gas station that Ringo is hiding in.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Caravan is... quite the complex game. I completed the game with  all achivaments, which includes winning like 20 caravan games and I still don’t know how to explain in. The only thing I could tell you is that, if you want to win easily, you’ll need to make a deck that consists of 10s, 8s, 6s and Kings.
In this game you make 3 piles of cards (caravans) whose values are between 21-26. Kings double the amount of the card it’s placed on so you’ll need to do 10 (King) + 6 or 10 + 8 (King). You may also want to add Jacks and Jokers.
Jacks destroy a card and Joker destroys the cards on the entire field except the card it’s placed on except the card itself based on what card it is. If it’s a number, it’ll destroy all of the same number except the card it’s placed on and if it’s placed on an ace, it’ll destroy all cards beloning to the same suite (Joker on Ace of Hearts destroys all Hearts).
Don’t forget to ask him how to play the game to get a free caravan deck
Tumblr media
“Yeah. He doesn't look very tough, though. I hear he's afraid I'll shoot him down from one of the windows when I see him, and he's right. I'll have a much bigger problem once his friends show up. There's no way I could handle all of them in a gunfight.”
What are you going to do about the Powder Gangers?”
“ I'm going to lay low for as long as I can, assuming the town doesn't throw me to the wolves. I've got no chance against the gang on my own.”
“Maybe I can help?”
“We'd just end up sharing the same grave if it's just the two of us. Now, if some of the other people in town were also on board... “
You don't think I can handle myself in a fight?
“I was thinking of myself, actually. Who's going to watch my back while I'm watching yours?”
“I’ll ask around and see who I can round up”
“Start with Sunny Smiles. She's been friendlier than most around here.”
One of the sacks in the gas station contains a Nuka-Cola. If you’re building an explosive build like I am, do not drink these, hoard them and when you see a merchant selling them, buy as much as you can. The reason might not be obivious at first but when the time comes, it’s going to be really fun!
Tumblr media
We agreed to help Ringo but now we have to talk to Sunny about having her help us. Since we have to convince her to help us defeat a gang, no doubt it’s going to be quite hard to covince her to hel-
Tumblr media
“Well that was easy”
“Joe Cobb talks about leaving us alone if we hand over Ringo, but I know his type. He and his friends will come after the town eventually. However, between you, me, and Ringo, we aren't exactly a force to be reckoned with.”
“A lot of people around here look up to Trudy. If you could convince Trudy to join us, some of the folks in town might decide to help out as well. I know Easy Pete's got a stock of dynamite somewhere, and Chet just got a shipment of leather armor we could borrow. Talk to them as well. Finally, there's a good chance we'll all end up with extra holes in us, so if Doc Mitchell could cough up some extra stimpaks, that'd be great.”
“How can I get Easy Pete’s dynamite?”
“Easy Pete's pretty protective of his dynamite. You'd have to convince him you know a thing or two about explosives before he handed it over.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Guess again dumbass, I’ve focused my built to focus on explosives!
[Explosives 25] “ I'm familiar with the care and handling of explosives, dynamite included.”
Tumblr media
“ Would Chet be willing to give us his supplies?”
Sunny: “I don't think "give" is in Chet's vocabulary. Even with the town at stake, he'd still make you barter with him.”
Tumblr media
You actually can pay him a 1000 caps for him to give everyone in town some leather armor, but since we don’t have ourselves 1000 caps, and coupled with the fact that we’d be wasting it, I’m just going to...
[Barter 25] “Let them take over the town, then. I'm sure your business will be much better off.”
Tumblr media
“And, uh, I'll be guarding the store while all this is going on. I have to put my business first, you understand.”
Tumblr media
6 DT? That quite the improvement from the 0 DT jumpsuit we earlier had
“ Any ideas on how to convince Trudy to join us? “
Sunny: “ A silver tongue would help. Convincing Trudy that we had a good plan to win the fight would also help.”
Tumblr media
[Sneak 23/25] “ I could probably take out the powder gang by surprise, if I had help. Probably.”
Tumblr media
Damn, if only we were better at sneaking, we could’ve convinced Trudy to join us.
At least she has a speech check that we are already prepared to pass
[Speech 25] “ You should help me take down the powder gang. Bullets, explosions, lots of fun.”
Tumblr media
Thanks, it’s the power of the speech check in a western RPG
Tumblr media
Now that we have some dynamite to kill the powder gangers, a leather armor for everyone to decrease the damage and a help from the local town’s folk, the only thing left to get is some medical help.
Tumblr media
“ The town is going to be attacked by bandits. Anything you can do to help?”
“ Seems like wherever I go it's always the same. Folks just never leave each other alone. I'm not much good in a fight, with my bum leg. And my supplies are scarce. But I'll give you what I can spare.”
[Medicine 30] “They'll be using explosives. Do you have something for more serious injuries?”
“ I ain't got much, but it'll do you more good out there than it will in here. Take what I got.”
In the tutorial there was going to be a segment were Doc asks you to take a brahmin skull from the top shelf while standing on a chair, but because it had nothing to do with character creation and to make the segment shorter, that part got cut out. You still can interract with the brahmin skull though, and it’ll show you a tutorial prompt to drop it
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We got everyone we needed for the milita. But before we take on Joe Cobb’s gang, let’s go ask the cowboy robot for his help.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You’re the best Victor. Now if you won’t mind I’m going to crash in your shack for a bit.
Tumblr media
This box in Victor’s Shack has some Energy Cells, more ammo for our Laser Pistol! Now that our preparations are done, let’s go take the fight to the Powder Gangers!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"How many are there?”
“ At least six, Joe Cobb included. They look pretty mean.”
“ Oh, Easy Pete came through with the dynamite. Here's your supply. I really hope I don't blow myself up. I'll be set up near the store. Let's hope that the gang doesn't manage to make it that far.”
Tumblr media
We’re taking this fight on at night, huh? Normally it should take place during the noon but I guess I messed around a bit too much. Wish I was fast enough so I would fight them at sunset. It would’ve been fitting.
Tumblr media
Alright everyone, let’s show these criminals not to mess with us!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh no, you’re not getting away after messing with this town!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Me too Trudy, me too. Not only we helped to save Ringo from the Powder Gangers, but also stopped them taking over the town that helped us while expecting nothing in return. People seem happy too
Tumblr media
Now that we’re even with Goodsprings, it’s time for us to go on our seperate ways, it’s time to start New Vegas proper!!

how i think each of the fnv companions/fan favorite characters would react if you asked to stack donuts on it (inspired by the fo4 companion dick donut post) (it not required) with little to no explanation
Cass: 100% absolutely. she brought it up. you're paying for the doughnuts
Boone: Very much no.
Arcade: no, but you can confirmed bachelor him into a hesitant yes that he instantly regrets
Veronica: yes, mostly out of curiosity
raul: no, and he questions your sanity.
vulpes: would call you a degenerate and probably stab you.
Ulysses: absolutely, but gets mad that he didn't think of it first.
benny: he's already done it, but will do it again. brags about how many doughnuts he can fit on it
Joshua graham: would let out the worlds' most disappointed sigh and tell you to get out of his sight and go to church
mr house: he'd say something about how, while he appreciates the boldness of asking and the scientific intentions, there's no way in hell he'd let you do that.
RingofromGoodprings (because i will live and die a ringofromGoodsprings truther): enthusiastic yes, not becuase he's particuarly interested in the activity, but becuase the Courier is like his bestie with a totally different job/work schedule that he sees once a month and actively looks forward to doing stupid shit for the bit with
yes man: he'd say yes, but in that passive aggressive way that makes it clear that he's genuinely worried about your mental health.
any of the think tankers: yes, for science

And tomorrow, someone will bury you. Oh, well. That’s life. Or it was. It’s nothing to me. —“Nothing to Me,” Sanford Clark (1966)
It Keeps Right On a-Hurtin’ #4 - Goodsprings II
«« First | « Previous || Next » | Last »»
Warnings: blood, cw blood, tw blood; gore, cw gore, tw gore
Notes / Original Pencils:
Notes:
Hey, if any of you ever catch me arbitrarily deciding to change the setting of a comic to sunset after I’d already colored it in for daytime, please kick my ass, because simply adding the extra layer of shading took longer than the even the pencils by far. For some reason I just figured that the Powder Gangers wouldn’t try to storm Goodsprings at high noon, and logically that makes sense, right? But whew, what a load of extra work. The headache I have right now is probably even worse than Ringo’s up there.
As you can tell from Agnes’ gradually growing hair between this comic and the last, she’s spent a good amount of time recovering in Goodsprings. The nature of It Keeps Right On a-Hurtin’ is that we’re glossing over a lot of the boring stuff. Think of the entire comic as a montage; you’re only going to get what’s either really cool or really important, because if you’re reading this then you’ve probably already played Fallout: New Vegas and I’m not interested and you’re not interested in me simply retelling every line of dialogue from the game.
Also, next comic might be a while, because after drawing this I think I wanna stop drawing Fallout: New Vegas for a few days so that I can actually, like, y’know, play Fallout: New Vegas.

Round 2 is over! Let's recap:
A Bracket, Day One: Easy Pete crushed Santiago's post-presidential assassination aspirations in a landslide; Red Lucy avenged Maj. Elizabeth Kieran's incredibly close Round 1 loss by similarly crushing the poll's most pathetic man, Beagle, in a victory for feminism; Old Ben climbed further in the ranks with a close win over Manny Vargas*; and Ranger Ghost sailed into Round 3 over Tommy Torini.
A Bracket, Day Two: Heartthrob Harland desecrated Pvt. Kowalski in the round's first of several dramatic upsets; the #TRASHSWEEP continued well apace by laying waste to Pacer; Swank and his big ol' eyes saw a win over old Ranger Andy; and the love for 10 of Spades carried him to victory over his fellow NCR soldier Maj. Knight*.
A Bracket, Day Three: The Hadrian Gang unfortunately could not survive against the high-seed monster, Fantastic; Rotface gave Boxcars a tip: get eliminated from the tournament; the Garret Twins made a smear on the sidewalk out of bubbly Brotherhood initiate Melissa Watkins; and Ignacio Rivas's* good nature wasn't enough to take down Trudy from Goodsprings.
A Bracket, Day Four: Fan-favorite Keely utterly crucified houndmaster Antony, which has knocked every member of Caesar's Legion who isn't a slave from the tournament completely; Mr. RADical successfully just laid there while Jimmy* from Casa Madrid couldn't impress; Regis from the Great Khans just barely eked out the W to make Cliff Briscoe extinct; and Mick & Ralph pulled an overnight upset against Old Lady Gibson to punch their ticket.
B Bracket, Day One: Daisy Whitman blew up Raquel; Ringo wrecked Ramos; preliminary fave Angela Williams pulled off an astonishing upset against number two seed Oliver Swanick; and Allen Marks' victory over Crandon & Jules goes to show that the corpses keep winning.
B Bracket, Day Two: Beatrix Russell ate Chomps Lewis; Emily Ortal left Pvt. Kyle Edwards in the radioactive dust; The Lonesome Drifter drifted easily into Round 3 over Michael Angelo & Kate; and Siri beat Malcolm Holmes but not without a surprising amount of turnout for the cap-collecting good samaritan.
B Bracket, Day Three: No-Bark Noonan opened up the all-Khans bracket by kicking Oscar Velasco out of the tournament; Jessup & McMurphy successfully defeated a frail and sickly child; Melissa Lewis succeeded where her father had failed the day before with a victory over Cannibal Johnson; Doctor Usanagi proves that STEM is more valuable than an English degree by giving Jerry the Punk another beating.
B Bracket, Day Four: Big Beard & Little Beard trounce the Gundersons, probably because Heck was the only one with a beard; Chris Haversam throws Meyers back in the clink; Mister Holdout couldn't hold out against Sarah Weintraub; and finally, in the single most massive (624 votes) and close (tied as late midnight with 500 votes) and polarizing (just check the notes) match-up in the entire tournament so far, Calamity the ghoul pulled an upset over Cpl. Betsy*, who's probably dealing with her loss in therapy. Hopefully Dr. Usanagi doesn't bring up her own win.
*Happy Pride Month, losers! The first round of June and literally every canonically queer character (except for Red Lucy, bisexual [edit: and Sarah Weintraub, also bisexual!]) got voted out, and that's hilarious. Funniest possible thing that could have happened on here, the gay and transgender website, during the gay and transgender month, in a tournament for the gay and transgender video game. (Beatrix Russell and Old Ben might also be exceptions, but it's minor; I only can't remember if you can sleep with them as the same sex or not when they're working at the Atomic Wrangler, but even then they may just be gay4pay. Not that there's anything wrong with that!)
You can see all of the Round 2 polls here, and the tournament bracket has been updated so that you can get a preview of the matches yet to come in Round 3. Voting will pause for a bit while I prepare graphics and bracket posts, so use this downtime to mourn the fallen, celebrate the risen, and submit designated cheerleader endorsements for your favorite remaining characters in their upcoming rounds. It's only going to get more tense from here!

all of G & Y for the queen of new vegas, baby 😈🔥
thank you legend!!
Tumblr media
— G. GORGEOUS.
i. what is their most attractive external feature?
it’s not something joss has given a lot of thought; she always understood that she was considered beautiful, and that usually meant she was bait for unsuspecting travelers who would stay at her father’s shack of an inn. the appeal is all in the facial composition, though — she didn’t have clean hair or skin or pre-war clothes, then.
ii. what is the most attractive part of their personality?
she learned early on how to manipulate people by saying the right thing, asking the right questions. dispensing the appropriate amount of approval at the opportune moment, withholding it just long enough to make it feel earned. to someone intimately familiar with how she operates, it’s not necessarily a charming attribute, but it’s what gets her what she needs and what draws people in to begin with
she’s also funny as hell, if your tastes run to the morbid or at the expense of others.
iii. what benefits come with being their friend?
she will not put out a hit on you!
full benefits of all her connections. an act if you want it. resources if you need them. the run of the strip and goodwill in freeside. exemption from getting kicked out of the tops if you’re winning too much ( swank hates this one ).
iv. what parts of them do they like and dislike?
well, she thinks she’s hilarious, thanks. she likes that she’s ruthless and cutthroat; it doesn’t really occur to her that she shouldn’t have to be, she just appreciates that it serves her, that it’s how she survived this long. she likes the way she looks; she’s not vain, but she likes the advantage it gives her. she’s proud of the fact that almost everything she knows is self-taught.
she dislikes that she’s so embittered, that she can’t let anything go. she didn’t really think about it when it was driving her — she’s going to get away from her father, she’s going to find her sisters, she’s going to ( from her perspective ) free new vegas — but when she’s left as a rebel without a cause she just has to sit with it, and she hates that. not enough to talk about it or do anything with it, even with her closest confidants she’ll never feel free to show what she perceives as weakness or vulnerability that way, but still. she wishes it were different, sometimes ( which, perhaps ironically, leaves her even more embittered and usually drives her out of vegas to go wander the wastes before she misdirects it more than she already has; she already slaughtered the strip once, she can’t do it again, it didn’t rid her of her anger last time ).
v. what parts of others do they envy?
relatedly, she envies anyone who is ( comparatively ) without baggage, insofar as that exists in the wastes, less in the sense of what’s happened to them but how they’ve coped with it and processed it. people who can be satisfied with what they have, who don’t have an anger or restlessness that consumes them. she thinks sometimes she would have been happier roaming the wastes all her life, and she envies those who do, to an extent, but that’s a thought she has the luxury to have when she actually has security & companionship for the first time in her life ( which she does not, in fact, walk away from despite technically having the option, so the insincerity of that envy is apparent even to her, if she’s being honest with herself ). is the appeal of the idea partly that benny absolutely abhors it to the point of bumping off others for harboring these potentially dangerous sentiments? yes. almost entirely.
— Y. YOU.
i. how old were you when you created them?
twenty-one. she was older than i was at the time. i now understand she is a fetus.
ii. what inspired you to create them?
unlike some of my other characters, joss was originally purely the result of in-game choices and mechanics. i just wanted a real bitch of a courier, not initially from the perspective of a fleshed out character but in the sense that she would take every chaotic asshole option available. lose to ringo at caravan? shoot him. end up shooting the whole entire bar and being the butcher of goodsprings. get villified by the ncr before even reaching primm. boone won’t speak to her because of this. break into his hotel room. shoot him. kill jeannie anyway because she found the receipts. shoot that guy who won the legion lottery because she thinks it’s an actual lottery and he’s gonna have cash. nope. just open fire on vulpes & company.
i started to develop a loose moral code for her by the time i reached freeside and adjusted my gameplay accordingly, but that is, in fact, her tragic origin story.
iii. were they different when they were first created?
honestly, given the above writeup, not as much as you’d think. obviously she’s different in the sense that character/developmental/background reasons now exist for her behaviors and choices, and a few things have been tweaked accordingly, but those were more additions than revisions to the extremely vague concept that already existed. she’s the same old very evil karma bitch she ever was.
iv. do you enjoy writing them more than other characters?
i don’t know if i would say more, but she’s one of my favorites ( there are obviously other characters i write more frequently now, especially in terms of what actually gets posted to tumblr dot com, but i originally wrote for her a good deal ). in terms of gameplay and early-stage development, yes, by an absolute landslide. her first playthrough is probably to this day the most fun i’ve had in my first runthrough of a game.
v. what’s your favorite thing about them?
exactly her aforementioned origins, actually! she’s a loose canon in every sense, just a real liability, but she is, horrifyingly, running this shit now. she also lets me play with a lot of my favorite tropes ( the femme fatale, the dark messiah, god save us from the queen ).

Been thinking about my Courier Six, Ashley, and more about how her story kind of differs a bit from canon.
She stays in Goodsprings for a good couple of weeks. She doesn't really know what else to do. The bullet in her head made herr forget her past and the only thing helpful in her personal belongings was the job description directing her to Primm. And she didn't want to go back to the reason she got shot in the first place. She earned her keep, helping out as best as she could, sorting out the Ringo situation.
Everyone's quite sympathetic to this shy young woman who doesn't know what to do with herself so people are generally quite friendly.
Eventually, Ashley goes tto the Cemetery. Sshe doesn't know why, maybe it would bring something back. She discovers a photograph, half buried in the dirt. She uncovers it. It's a photograph of a very young girl that looks like her standing next to an oldish woman. They're both smiling.
She had a family.
Ashley finally had something to go off. A piece of her past. Something in her snapped.
That man in the chequered suit took that away from her. Her past, her memories, her family.
And he sure as hell wasn't going to get away with it.
