Cord Jefferson on how American Fiction came to be
Having Cord Jefferson on was such a full circle moment for both of us & we had an amazing conversation. Here Cord talks about the book "Erasure," the parallels between his own life & the main character 'Monk' & how that informed the script for "American Fiction."

The casting in The Last Airbender movie is all over the place, but we all knew about the whitewashing. What we didn’t remember is that Monk Gyatso is Black (shout out to Damon Jamal Gupton). And also they muted Gyatso’s lines, for some reason. Well, Dallas had a field day with that. Check out our Last Airbender reaction for more of what we think Monk Jamal might be saying.

The Dead Ringers TV Show Surprised Us, To Say The Least
Tumblr media
It's no secret that we are extremely against most remakes or reboots. There's just something about touching a great original piece and trying to do it yourself or modernize it for whatever reason.
Then in comes Dead Ringers. We tried so hard not to watch. But finally gave in. And we are glad we did.
David Cronenberg is a masterful director. The pieces he turns in are usually amazing all around.
This series was brought in to update it. There is a new flair here with the genders being reversed. The show doesn't pull any punches either.
There's a sense of uneasiness as you watch Rachel Weisz slither through each scene. She is great in this role. The show may have changed the gender roles in this but it's far from being a "woke" show as a lot of other people have described.
Some of the dialogue and scenes are offensive in nature. They show brutal violence up close and births of children in graphic detail. They curse and swear and it's not heavily leaned into the political or societal elements at all.
It's just a well made television show with great performances all around. Rachel Weisz is amazing as usual.
And for those unaware, Dead Ringers is about a set of twin doctors who are pushing themselves further i to insanity as time progesses. This feels like Cronenberg would appreciate what they did with the show.

didn't know the baseball bbq guys had a new podcast until i was digging around spotify looking for a new baseball podcast tonight. listened to their 20 minute live drop of jake's reaction to correa going to the mets and was laughing the whole time i was doing dishes. if there is one thing we can rely on jake and jordan to do, it's get hysterical about the most random narrative in the entire mlb that no other person in the planet ever thought about. i say this at a minimum about twice a year, but if they ever break up i will be so sad

Stg I’m starting a podcast for hotd that has a team green slant I’m literally so tired of listening to podcasts that are so team black biased. “Rhaenyra is breaking the wheel she is ending the patriarchy” GIRL WHEN DID SHE SAY/DO ANYTHING THAT SHOWS THAT?????
Tumblr media
The gag is my podcast would still be less biased because my bestie who watches the show is team black but she doesn’t hate Alicent because she’s smart and amazing not brain rotted like the rest of them. If anyone has any podcasts recs that are unbiased or team green biased pls let me know I’m dying over here.

Confirmation that Emma didn't get along/decided not to mingle with her Little Women co-stars.
I came across a twitter exchange today that mentioned a podcast where they discussed Florence Pugh and the whole Don't Worry Darlings drama and Little Women was brought up. So I decided to look for it.
It's from a podcast called Ringer Dish and the podcast episode is called "Breaking down the 'Don't Worry Darlings' drama with Matt Belloni.
The podcast has a transcript that I took screenshots of if you don't want to listen to the podcast. The wording isn't entirely accurate, but you can understand mostly what they're saying.

We don't know whether there was drama on set or whether Emma just decided to keep her distance (I think it's the latter), but it confirms what we've been saying all along.
The twitter conversation that drew my attention:

What are your thoughts on the Sokka/Yue romance? It’s absolutely iconic, obviously, but is it more believable in any medium? When have you ever fallen in love in less than a week? And if you have, please tell your story in the comments, because we’re interested. Check out our reaction to The Last Airbender on YouTube!
