I, uh. Did the thing!

Just gonna like. Throw my phone in the lake or something for a while. This is porn and a whole bunch of angst, but I'm rather pleased with a few turns of phrase here and there.

I'm still gunning for "bad chemistry" as their ship name.

After the battle; Resh'an doesn't know what he thought he would accomplish, bringing Aephorul back to the Archives like this. He finds himself making a lot of impulsive decisions, lately. There's no possible timeline where he won't regret this- but really, what's one more regret, where Aephorul is concerned?

Some notes/thoughts/outtakes below the cut that I didn't want to include on ao3 because it would have gotten too long.

I hate the title, but I'm stuck with it now.

In a modern AU that I will never write, after the divorce, Resh'an uses the sound that Garl's pot lid makes when it hits Aephorul as his ringtone. "*clang!* "Oh no, is that your ex again? You really need to just block his number."

Resh'an's transition from naked to clothed towards the end of this story absolutely looks like a magical girl transformation sequence, and no, I will not be explaining myself further.

The first few drafts of this involved a lot more medical terminology, which I blame on having Locked Tomb brainrot. (If Aephorul is John, that makes Resh'an Alecto; the tragedy writes itself. I am completely normal about this comparison, and the horrors (of love). Aephorul gives off very big "When everyone who fucked with us is dead" energies. Shame about all the goddamn genocide, though.) ("What if I only did a little genocide? As a treat." "No!")

I am also completely normal about Aephorul wanting to keep a time shard, which is the whole reason this fic exists. He absolutely has a room full of things that remind him of Resh'an in a fortress somewhere. Of course he kept the iceline flask; of course he keeps it on his person at all times, along with his bespoke Elixir of Instant Booty Call.

This whole thing started out much darker in completely different ways, but then Resh'an decided safe words are something that happen to other people. You would think that Aephorul would be the one instigating the weird sex most of the time, what with his whole shtick, but historically that was definitely Resh'an.

Aephorul actually doesn't want to hurt Resh'an. He *hates* hurting Resh'an, more than anything. He does not know how to stop hurting Resh'an.

(That would make such a good tagline for a fic. I'm not writing it. Aephorul's POV will give me brain maggots. Gross!)

“An eye for an eye, isn't it? You fucked my plans in two worlds. Now I get to fuck you.” It's too much. He breaks one hand free of Aephorul's grasp, so he can cover his face with it. “That sounded better in your head, didn't it.” “Ugh, shut up.”
