Zeren Badar is one imaginative and resourceful cat. The Turkish photographer and artist, also known as the Penniless Photographer, places unexpected items, like cereal, cookies, magnets, and stamps, on top of prints of old paintings. The combinations in these 3D collages are so alluring and clever! By arranging objects such as pearls, rubber bands, and even raw eggs atop photographs, New York-based artist Zeren Badar creates layered collages with depth and dimensionality. Drawing equally from Dada influences and Duchampian ideals, the Badar’s work is full of unexpected juxtapositions that pair the new with the old, and the classic with the contemporary. The result is a stunning array of collages that, as Badar says himself, “examine a new type of still life”. (https://news.gestalten.com/news/zeren-badar)
