Days on safari don’t get much better that this spectacle captured by #wildographer, super guide & @rememberingwildlife #RememberingAfricanWildDogs esteemed contributor @mattarmstrong_ford . #Repost “What started in the morning with a plan to photograph elephants in the magical winter thorn forests surrounding @chiawasafaris Old Mondoro as the first rays of sunlight broke through the canopy turned into the most incredible insights into the lives of Wild Dogs I have been privileged to witness . It started with half the pack chasing a male kudu, whilst the rest of the pack were busy chasing a waterbuck, which ended up seeking refuge in a lagoon, only to end up in the jaws of a crocodile . The dogs the regrouped and successfully took down an impala before setting down for the day . We rejoined them after lunch and patiently waited as a herd of 200 buffalo moved closer to where the dogs were resting . They then tried the unimaginable and went after the buffalo. They were unsuccessful, this time. But seeing 21 Wild Dog charge into a herd of 200 buffalo is something to behold . With, once again, an incredibly high standard, it was extremely challenging for our panel of judges (guest judges this year were Levison Wood and Daryl Balfour, to whom we are very grateful ) to narrow it down. But we got there in the end with a real variety of images, settings and styles. We feel as a set they really add to the book, which already includes beautiful images from the likes of Frans Lanting, Art Wolfe, Greg du Toit and Jonathan & Angela Scott. Wow wow wow! The first behind-the-scenes sneaky peak of the amazing @emilylamb_art's painting for this year's @rememberingwildlife #RememberingAfricanWildDogs auction! 😍 Once again, Emily has used the book for inspiration and this year chose an image by @lancevandevyver as a reference for her oil painting. It might still be work in progress but we can all see how stunning the finished piece will be!
