Some exploration for the comic version of Skoodge. The blue are things to keep. I do like the detailed one a lot but it's kinda a struggle to draw and I don't want to go too simple either. I'm pretty happy with the one with the pink lines

It hurts me that the comics introduced 777's kids as hostages, when he seems so nice to Zim in the show. Like he only shows up once, but he's more then willing to work with him. Love the sarcasm from him too.

And the cut episode where Mini Moose is introduced, while not canon (it is in my eyes) he knows Zim's favorite color and makes Mini Moose that color. So cute. I thought you'd like it. Omgosh.

Zim's not gonna erase the children. He's gonna not know how to handle them if they're in his care and leave everything to Computer. Uncomfortable when they interact with him. Begrudgingly taking care of them in the same way he begrudgingly handles GIR.

But GIR is a tool and a gift from the Tallest and these are squirming meat children of a friend. So he's not gonna involve them in anything actively dangerous. Likely things he doesn't recognize as such, but still are.

Why have I never thought to look to shug to draw Skoodge? Like just glancing at the weekly skoodge helped so fucking much

Purple wanted to be an invader because he thinks being a spy is the coolest shit ever.

Red wanted to be one because of the prestige and fame

Skoodge because it was what he was good at and what he was told to become

Zim did it because he was pushed into a corner and didn't know where else to go

His paranoia is incredibly justified and his intense desire to be recognized by an authority the tallest in particular is exasperated by his previous crimes.

Red totally set up the laser to zap Purple in the eye. It's specifically when Purple starts to disagree with him in public and absolutely to rub in that he's right at the end

He is unhappy Purple challenged him on the lasers in public. Man was trying to win the argument by forcing him into a position he hoped Purple would just stay quiet and focused on the Assigning and Purple wasn't going for it

If this happened the other way around I think Red would bite his tongue and just go with it

There is no way anyone can convince me Purple cares more about how people view him than Red does. Red's about avoiding confrontation and seeming like the good guy

Purple just puts out his thoughts and feelings without giving a shit unless it involves Zim, but even then. He's not gonna do sneaky shit and when he does he's gonna be so aware and amused by it he'd blow his cover.

Red would be like 'no one can ever know no one' and Purple would be like 'oh hoho I'm so smart and cool right now doing a sneak playing a trick people are so dumb'

Rewatching the Nightmare Begins. I'm convinced Red has something against Skoodge personally.

Like I don't know if he gave Vort to Larb, because he was questioned and felt a bit bad after complimenting his increased height or if it was really purely a height thing, but I feel like he really wants to be liked overall.

That's the big difference between the Tallest. Red wants to be liked and will give people too many chances. Purple doesn't give a shit. He likes to argue or just get rid of people. Also the planning styles, where Red improvises and thinks on his feet, where Purple seems to plan and make sure he's aware of everything. (Still think Red's more aware of height (looks down on shorters), he's often the first to comment on it, but then again if he's got a thing against Skoodge maybe that instance was just a jab.)

Started working on a "30" day project, but more like 42 days cause I scheduled breaks into it. I wrote a bunch of ideas down and whitted it down to a very angsty ZaSr-ish comic with a random number generator.

I'm trying to get a page count right now, I would like it at like 5 or 6, but it's bloating up to 10 right now and I'm almost crying. Not cause of the bloat but like dang man. This is sad

Anyway I going to try and whittle that down a bit in the writing process. And if I can't I think I'll make it a two parter.

I'm going to try my best to finish this, but I make no promises. If it doesn't happen it doesn't happen. That being said the main goal here is to finish something so, let's hope

Something something Zim trying to make Skoodge his rival, but it not working out

Zim's a jealous and petty little shit. There's absolutely no way for him to be friends with someone he subconsciously considers an equal for a long period of time (maybe not the best phrasing here) He absolutely poisoned any friendship he developed with Skoodge. Any win or acknowledgement that Skoodge got that Zim didn't, would eat at him. And it'd only get worse as Zim dug his hole deeper in an attempt to prove himself. The more desperate he got, the more he fell behind, the higher Skoodge seemed to climb. No matter how bad Zim fucked up or who got hurt, Skoodge always managed to climb out it in one piece. Skoodge always managed to complete his task. Skoodge always managed to help someone out no matter what kinda hell he went through. And it killed Zim

He wants the kinda of awe Skoodge gives him but not from Skoodge. Anyone, but Skoodge. He can't take it from Skoodge because they're too similar in his mind. Every time Zim fails, Skoodge succeeds, even though that's not true. Zim bulldozes himself into being an invader, into being assigned a planet in OID 2, but Skoodge, HE WAS ALREADY THERE. Every win Zim got over him seemed only to set him back further. Skoodge, he was actually chosen to be an invader while Zim was demoted to being a food service drone. He was assigned Blorch without having to claw it out of the Tallest's hands. He ACTUALLY CONQUERED A PLANET. And Zim? His motivation was petering out. He couldn't keep believing that if only he proved himself, if only he took over earth, he wouldn't be sent back to Foodcourtia, he wouldn't be sent to trial.

They started from the same place with the same circumstances. The smallest soldiers. But Zim was a leader, Skoodge a follower, a fool begging to be led by the nose. So why him? Why did he always manage to show Zim up? Expose his flaws so effortlessly? He'd almost think it was intentional if he wasn't so dumb. Zim was inventive! Innovative! Skoodge? He couldn't even keep his uniform clean let alone create something.

He can't help but revel in every instance Skoodge gets thrown back down. Shown his place. But at the same time it's disturbing. It shakes him to his very core and he can't figure out why. He could never admit to himself that if the empire is willing to throw even Skoodge away, someone who does everything right, he has no chance of ever being accepted or loved.

Fuuuuuuuuuuckingshit okay, I think batch 3 will get a pretty major rewrite when I get to actually working on it. But as of now it's a paaaaaain to write. The dialogue needs to be better. I'm like stuck on page 16 right now, but I'm just gonna force my way through it cause I'll have time to fix it later

If anyone was wondering why I draw Skoodge vastly different from in the show it's cause of Zim

I cannot draw his rectangular little body next to Zim with out fucking it looking super weird! Also I was really really struggling with twisting and turning him, so I embarked on this journey of finding a way to draw Skoodge that feels like Skoodge

Now none of those are bad (hell one is me copy a screenshot to figure this little shit out) but they're all in the same or very similar pose for a reason. I'd cut running Skoodge in half if I wasn't so proud of how I drew the top and bottom of his body separately

This mother fucker. This was my third doodle of Cherub. I'll admit its that little face that got me cause I don't usually draw randomly doodled characters more then once

I made him during this little character design task I set myself up with

I was having a lot more fun drawing girls or the tallest tho (which is why Krysa pops up a few times

But this little doodle is what made me go Oh ho! This needs to be an actual character

I legitimately need to redraw this, it's so cute but so tiny and not easily readable

By the time I settled on the smaller details of his body shape and realizing oh shit this is basically what Skoodge should have been I had found some traits that feel like Skoodge to me (which is weird AF sense I've been struggling with his character so much up until like 3 or 4 days ago.) No visuals here cause I'm on my phone might add them later (also apparently am at the limit didn't realize I put so many up there lol

I'm pretty happy with my Skoodge design right now, but still feel like it could be improved or I learn how to better draw his shapes.

This was all spurred by me looking at character designs of old women, dads and tank like dudes lol
