I can think of two fictional couples that remind me of Ethan and Tiffany in some ways:

Roy Kent and Keeley Jones from Ted Lasso (aka the most perfect depiction of the grumpy/sunshine trope that scratches my brain just right. They’re literally Ethan x MC in a Premier League/Football AU ksbdkbdkdbdkb)

Aragorn and Arwen from LOTR

Some explanation below! Warning: spoilers included

Roy and Keeley are two charismatic individuals who are seemingly different, but end up being the ultimate OTP—two wholes that compliment one other.

He’s the type of guy whose happy face and mad face seem to be the same and people are both frightened of and impressed by him. She’s a huge flirt with a heart of gold and everyone loves her—as they should. He’s a football legend on the verge of retirement (don’t remember the exact age gap between them, but the internet says 8 years and I gladly accept jdhdkhdkb). She’s ambitious, capable and desperate to carve her own path.

From their very first interaction you just know that you’re in for a scrumptious slow burn; their chemistry is palpable, top tier banter proves how smart and fun Keeley is, uncovering how Roy’s exceptionally rough exterior softens significantly only for her. It’s obvious that they’re 100% horny for each other they’ve been into each other for quite some time now. They seem inevitable.

I absolutely adore how painfully real they are as a couple. Neither is perfect. Their flaws and insecurities make them do foolish things sometimes, but they always manage to find a way to communicate like adults, acknowledge their faults and solve the issue. Their relationship is based on honesty and accountability. They make a great team and together they’re unstoppable—they encourage, challenge, inspire, support and care for one another deeply.

They may seem tough and confident, but they’re never afraid to be vulnerable with each other and I think that’s the essence of E&T’s relationship too.

What’s more, we don’t really know much about Keeley and it gives me an impression that she’s one of those characters who are very friendly, honest and lively, easy to talk to and trustworthy, always around people, always nurturing others, and yet they share very little of what’s inside their heads, keeping any sign of their trauma, fears and insecurities locked from the outside world. And I bet there’s plenty to unpack here. That’s quite similar to what I imagine for my Tiff.

I could talk about the similarities between Reeley and E&T for hours or do some episode analysis, but I’ll spare you an entire dissertation on the topic kdhdkhdkdhkdh

As for Aragorn and Arwen, I obviously won’t delve into the fantasy and its irresistible charm, because it doesn’t apply to OH’s fictional world, but some bits of their love story feel oddly familiar:

The circumstances are against them and their relationship seems impossible.

He pushes her away. She never loses hope, never gives up and always chooses him despite all odds, inspiring his strength and igniting hope during the darkest moments.

So basically…That’s a short summary of OH1 and 2 kdhdkhdkdb Plus Liv Tyler has that ethereal glow, she’s giving off Tiffany vibes 👀

Is there something Ethan & Tiffany struggled with about each other when they moved in together? Like a habit one of them had that used to drive the other crazy.

Of course they struggled! They’re perfectly flawed humans 🥰

Let me start by acknowledging an important aspect of that change. Even though Tiffany was spending the majority of the week at Ethan’s place before she officially moved in, the transition was a major step forward for them both. Neither Tiffany nor Ethan shared the apartment with a partner before, so they had a fair amount of anxiety to deal with. What’s more, the last time Ethan lived with someone was during the first year of his internship. He was particularly worried that he would scare Tiffany away or worse—reach the conclusion that moving in together was a serious mistake.

At first it was…Awkward. Suddenly, all those precious moments together were riddled with fear—they didn’t know how to approach each other in this new arrangement and the constant presence of the other felt overwhelming. Should they do everything together? Should they entertain each other and talk all the time or keep it quiet? Are they annoying? Are they doing enough? Are they doing too much? Is this how living together should work? Are they overstepping? Is this…normal?

After a day or two, the initial awkwardness and tension vanished, proving that there was nothing to worry about in the first place. E&T realized that nothing really changed and they can still be comfortably themselves at all times, that living together doesn’t take away or limit their freedom and it’s not meant to make them fully dependent on each other, that silence can be full of devotion too and indulging in some much needed me-time while sitting next to each other is an underrated love language.

As for the annoying habits, there surely are some:

Ethan had a very hard time accepting the fact that his precious order was irreversibly disrupted; Tiffany is a very neat person as well, but she tends to arrange things in a slightly different way, and that drives Ethan mad. For example: she puts toilet paper on a more approachable shelf.

Tiffany loves wearing Ethan’s clothes around the house. After laundry days, they often end up in her wardrobe instead of his. He’s not a fan of that mix up, though he certainly enjoys the sight of Tiff wearing his shirt like a robe with nothing underneath kfjgkdjgkf

Ethan prefers not to turn on all the lights. Tiffany can’t stand that, dim lighting fogs her brain and makes her sleepy too early in the evening.

In the beginning, they used only one blanket, but Ethan was stealing all of it and Tiffany was forced to bring her own. Unfortunately, it was not enough to stop this notorious blanket thief: when they fall asleep all cuddled up, T wakes up cold and shivering in the middle of the night anyway kdhdkhdkdb

Her make-up products are all over the apartment. Often in the most unexpected places, depending on where she was doing her make-up at a given moment. Ethan wonders how is it possible that she always remembers where she left every single one of these item and why does she own so many lipsticks in an almost identical shade.

I know I’m in the minority here, but I can’t picture Ethan as a ONS/random flings kind of guy. I HC that he had his experience with casual sex when he was mending the wounds inflicted by the infamous med school lover. As intense as that period was, it also happened to be short-lived: he quickly realized that it’s not his cup of tea. He requires some deeper emotional connection with the partner to make the encounter meaningful, and Ethan Ramsey has no time or patience for meaningless things or people he doesn’t care about. He’s far too focused on his career to look for companionship—he doesn’t need it and doesn’t force it. People with demanding jobs go down that road quite often; it’s perfectly fine and doesn’t mean that we’re antisocial or anything of the sort.

Moreover, I don’t think that he’d ever want to distract himself by dipping into the dating pool after learning the truth about Naveen’s condition. Then Tiffany barged into his life and he found himself badly in need of her company 🥰

Tiffany is dedicated to achieving her ultimate goal: becoming the best doctor she can be. Casual dating seemed to be an unnecessary distraction and a waste of her precious energy. The internship and its hardships took up most of her time and attention, so she used the remaining scraps for relieving the stress in the most effective way through recharging her batteries alone or with her friends.

Prior to Miami, Tiffany went on two dates with one of her ex patients, but she ended things with Wayne before they had a chance to get steamy. Homegirl decided to fully embrace the fact that she was in love with her boss ksbkdbdkbd
