From lush rainforest and sprawling wetland to towering glaciers and colonies of penguins, Argentina is a land of contrasts that offers a wealth of experiences to travellers crossing its borders. The country boasts no fewer than 11 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, sharing the roaring waterfalls of Iguassu with Brazil to the north. . Further south lie the Ibera Wetlands, the second-largest wetland area in the world, as well as the Yacutinga Forest Reserve, where visitors can explore the rich ecosystem on foot or by kayak. The Valdes Peninsula juts out into the Atlantic Ocean, a prime spot for whale-watching, while the coastal area of Punta Tombo is home to some 500,000 Magellanic penguins. L’Area Naturale Protetta Punta Tombo riceve ogni anno, tra i mesi di settembre e aprile, la più grande colonia continentale di pinguini di Magellano del mondo. È il sito scelto dai pinguini per riprodursi.
