Starting my first pokemon nuzlocke on pokemon shining pearl!!! The rules I will be following are:

I have to catch the first wild pokemon I encounter on each route

If a pokemon faints, I will have to send them to box heaven

I can use items

I have to name each pokemon I catch

I anyone has any tips please share them with me :] this is first time doing a nuzlocke!! I will also try to draw each pokemon i catch like how @/lockandkeyhyena did in his sunlocke

I think this is my biggest yearly art-dump to date!

A lot of it is personal/friend art, though

1. I watched most of the Predator movies with my friends, and during one- I drew these two. the fisher’s hat one for a joke- the other was a meme image we shared from a con.

2. Emojis I made for an Isle server Discord

3. Tried to play a different game of D&D with a different friend, because I’m terrible at improve and at speaking in general, I asked if I ‘could play a druid stuck in wildshape, and his quest is to find someone to unstuck him’. He was a horse that kicked a chicken as a distraction to some guards so my to-be party member to sneak around and knock him out. His name is Kurr.

4. Played Cenozoic Survival with friends, and made two National Park styled posters. We were kelenkens that killed other kelenkens (the Kele-Killers), and a pack of Direwolves that lived in the swamp.

Everything here is from headword/RP with friends that We’ve been slowly planning out over the course of a year and a bit. Its a mix of final-fantasy-esq magic and dinosaurs.

13. The first redesign of Lupin, my old Keykid OC that was in last year’s art dump as well.

14. The redesign of another keykid, Ember. She has a pet Drornis.

15. The redesign of another keykid, Lilly- she’s now a noble woman.

16. Second (technically third) redesgin of Lupin, made him look fancier and more sharp. the items on his right are his ring and rapier. 

17. The redesign of another keykid, this time Iberis. They haven’t changed much, but I did redesign them before this; their look was hard to get down.

18. Lupin using his rapier to cast some lightning magic. drawn alongside the first redesign.

19.The processes on how a dinosaur becomes magical. it eats a magic gem, and if it survives, it inherits magical propeties.

20. Two ornamental birds that serve as ‘communication’ devices, with the chicken being about the size of a novelty landline, and the robin, the size of a brooch.

21. Caustiopteryx. A Caudiopteryx that has acidic elemental powers and isn’t looking so great anymore.

22. Stryaticosaurus. A Stryacosaurus that has lightning elemental powers.

23. Dryovoidus. A Dryosaurus that has void-like powers that can turn into a puff of smoke at will.

24. Pyrosolophosaurus. A Parasaurolophus that has fire elemental powers.

25. Dinosaur mounts. not exactly domesticated, but tame enough to let a rider on their backs and steer them.

31. Redraws of Vanitas’s scenes in KH3 but with his helmet off. I wish it were off, because the whole reveal to Sora could have taken place else where.

-Warrior Cats?-

Friends got me into a Warriorcat clan generator thing witch is kind of like a rouge-lite drama-simulator? its hard to describe.

32. First major clan. absolute drama. Halfheart murdered a lot of cats by using the medicine cat, Laketail, and so did her daughter, Barkkit- only with a more claws-on-approach. 10/10 would recommend reading that book.

33. Current clan. Less drama- more survival. They’re not labelled, but we have; Lilacstar, Boulderheart, Flipleaf, Skyclaw, Blotchpaw, Owlfur and Wormtail.

Just beat Tulip's gym and i was a bit tiny worried because i had very few super effective moves to use against psychic types. I also went into the gym challenge thinking it was a fairy type gym cuz of her design but it went pretty smoothly.

The actual gym fight itself? Did not go as smoothly. I led with Primavero cuz he has bug and dark type moves on him but he took a a lot of damage from the Gardevoir Tulip had so i had to fall back on my other pokemon. I used Seraphine but she ended up on low health so after a bit of me sitting there worrying about who to use i sent out Coolatta against her last pokemon. Coolatta managed to get its health down a bit and survived quite a few turns. I used one of those to heal Primavero back up to full health. I couldn't swap Primavero back in cuz the moonblast was gonna hurt too bad. And i didn't want to just swap to Unagi or Titania to try and slowly whittle the Florges' health down so i chose to just... let Coolatta faint so i could get a clean swap to Primavero and terastalize so the fairy moves wouldn't hurt as bad. And then i took it out with Pollen Puff. I figured that would just end things fastest and it did. I figured Coolatta fainting would mean nothing as this isn't a nuzlocke or anything but it hurt me emotionally :(. Like something about letting Coolatta faint felt different than it just happening. So uh yeah guess i'll just do it the slower way if i'm ever put in that situation again.

Happy to report that other than that the gym was. a lot of fun! The gym challenge was pretty hard as anything like that i instantly suck at. But it was fun reaching my first somewhat challenging gym. I also was listening to The Greatest Show at the same coincidentally and it worked pretty well with Tulip's vibes.

Oh! And i met the tiny lil child member of the elite four. I was on call with a friend and i said out loud "Oh my god its a child. Like just an actual kid. Not even. It's a doll." But seeing her Rika was pretty cute and i think she is adorable. Not sure if she should be in such an important ole but uh... guess i'll have to actually fight her to find out??

My team hasn't changed yet but i also did the future donphan titan before Ryme's gym

I was thinking about Fidough today. As you do. And... like Fidough. I do. My relationship with food based Pokemon is... eh. But Fidough is a rare exception.

But I don’t want to talk about Fidough. I want to talk about what Fidough’s existance made me think of.

My least favourite Pokemon.

Of course, there are the typical pokes that I dislike (Mr Mime, Jynx etc). However, there is only one that fills me with rage. One that makes me incredibly uncomfortable from its name alone. One I cannot stand the sight of and makes me shudder when I have to face one in battle.

And the Pokemon is none other than this fucker:

I cannot express how much I cannot stand this thing.

First of all, its name. Slurpuff. Just saying it makes me cringe for the very depth of my being. Why? Why did you name it that? Why slurp of all words? Puff I can understand. Puff is a great word. But SLURP?

Moving right along. We have those eyes. Look at those eyes. That creature will kill you mercilessly and swallow your bones. You’ll never be heard from again.

Also why is it smiling at me like that? What secrets does it know? What does it want from me??

Lastly, I always forget this bitch knows flamethower and I will never forgive it for killing my Roserade on one of my nuzlockes.

Ever.

Fuck you Slurpuff, you bring shame to food-based Pokemon.

Tell me about your favorite part of swsh and about your team!!

I really loved the core of the game; the gym challenge actually felt like something worth doing rather than just the thing you do to progress the story. The gym challenge WAS the story. And I think it helped playing a blind Nuzlocke, but every gym battle was exhilarating. No gym leader was a pushover - their Pokemon were all well chosen and very strong! It was an awesome challenge to go through.

pokemon company is more focused on quarterly profits than making good games. let's go and scarvio are $50+ each. so i dug out my old copy of blaze black 2 from like 2015 and found that I had been in the middle of a nuzlocke. i boot of the file spend an hour running around castelia city and then get my ass kicked by burgh's masquerain where it double team bubblebeam swept my party. so now I have a lv ~20 finneon, patrat, and jigglypuff. i hate grinding. run is so dead. maybe I'll keep going and allow healing but only be allowed to use the last 6 pokemon i caught or something. actually that'd be better for a black/white 1 run since that's what N does.

oh hey wait jiggly puff might actually be useful. I'm still not grinding.

AAAAAAAIDUFHJKN.WE. tried that fight again just because and it literally comes down to double team luck. if I land 1 flame burst through 1 double team magmar sweeps. if it miss that one flame burst masquerain sweeps. ah well i guess this isn't a nuzlocke anymore. but this is only the 3rd gym. maybe i will do that last 6 pkmn on blakc/white 1

really if nintendo released the old games cartriges like firered/leafgreen, platinum, heartgold/soulsilver they could make a good amount of money

Pokemon Brillant Diamond Nuzlocke Log #3

I’ve made it to Eterna City without losing anyone. I still feel this is easy so far I also included the rule of no over leveling gym leaders except maybe Crasher. (He’s still level 30 like Maylene but there’s game play between their gyms that may push me over. I’ll try my best not to over level) I got my first badge without over leveling and had kicked Team Galactic out of the Valley Windworks which if I didn’t have Mr Puff the Machop it would have been hard. I got the underground explorer’s kit so now this opens up what I can catch. The Encounters changes in the Underground after each HM you receive on the app so I decided with after each new HM I can go capture a new Mon as long as I follow my previous rules. So here’s my team so far:

Lvl 21 Pudge the Prinplup (my starter)

Lvl 21 Ranger the Budew (caught on Route 204)

Lvl 20 Carmilla the Zubat (caught in the Ravaged Path)

Lvl 20 Mr Puff the Machop (caught on Route 207)

Lvl 21 Sphinx the Lucia (caught as a Shinx on Route 202)

Lvl 19 Zuul the Houndoom (caught in the Underground, Rock Smash encounter)

I was soooo lucky to find her! In the cave she was in there were several Zubats and Bidoofs which I already caught and her! I have my first fire Pokemon aaaaand she knows no fire moves. Great.

Forgot to mention I have a new clause:

Gift Pokemon are allowed & I can only have one fossil Pokemon. Not sure I’m gonna use the gift mon I received from events. They may be only a last resort if I have no other mons.

Worst game you've ever played? 🥚 Ninjabread Man... Yes. Ye's I've played that shovelware nightmare.

A popular series/game you just can't get into no matter how much you try? 🥚 I've never been able to get into most fighting games of any kind. Street fighter, tekken, smash brothers- Though I'm trying my hardest with smash, since my little brother is heavily attached to it and I'm heavily attached to him.

A game that's changed you the most? 🥚 There's a few games actually! Paper Mario 64, Pokemon Ultra Moon and Hollow Knight! - Paper Mario because it was my first introduction to dark themes hidden under a bright color of paint! Taught me that you don't necessarily need the world ending to have something scary! - Pokemon cause it's kinda been my first bold step out against my religious household's views. It was a good dose on independence! - Hollow Knight is smaller, admittedly... It introduced me to metroidvanias and speedrunning in a way that I can actually have fun! Cheating but not also is kinda fun, haha!

A game you'll never forget? 🥚 Club Penguin! Yes, I'm counting that here! That was my childhood and would probably have done what Paper Mario did if it had come first in my life!

Best soundtrack? 🥚 For those who don't know, I'm a HUGE music fan, so choosing one OST is kinda hard for me! That being said, I have a soft spot for both Mario Galaxy OSTs, A Hat in Time, Psychonauts and recently Paper Mario: The Oragami King.

A game you turn your volume off every time you play it? 🥚 The World Ends With You, after some of my father's comments on the OST, sadly...

A game you've completely given up on? 🥚 Granny Simulator. I don't have anyone to play it with.

Hardest game you've played? 🥚 Hollow Knight by far. You try to 112% Steel Soul that shit and get back to me.

Character you've hated most? From what game? 🥚 Gosh, genuinely hate? I've never hated any character... Okay maybe that's a lie. I don't hate him anymore but as a kid I HATED Huff'n'Puff from Paper Mario 64. Specifically his fight. He healed himself all the time and the amount of support puffs he could have. As a kid I could NEVER beat him and still have yet to go back to the fight. I know what to do nowadays, but the problem is getting the game.

Casual, Hardcore, or in the middle? 🥚 It entirely depends on the game, honestly.

Be honest; have you ever used cheats (like ActionReplay or Gameshark)? 🥚 I never have, to my knowledge. That was more my brother's thing. I have only ever used "cheat codes" that were in a game before, and even then it was just to less around and not actually beat the game.

Handheld or console? 🥚 Computer, actually. I find myself on here more than I do my DS or Switch, mainly cause of my brother and father. I'm always anxious they'll come down here and be upset that I'm on the switch so I just. Don't touch it ever anymore. And my DS is currently Pokemon Nuzlocke Only, so I can hide the game in it.

Has there ever been a moment that has made you cry? 🥚 Mother. Fucking. Huff'n'Puff Fight!!!! Story wise, recently Genshin Impact's been tugging at my heartstrings some.

Which character's clothes do you wish you owned the most? 🥚 I never actually thought about this. Mainly cause I'm not exactly most character's sizes... Some of the NPC outfits in Genshin Impact look really comfy though!

Which is more important, gameplay or story? 🥚 Both are integral to a game! Without a good story, it doesn't matter how good the gameplay is, your players won't have motivation to keep playing. Without good gameplay, a good story will feel more drawn out and disjointed. It's incredibly vital to have both!

A game that hasn't been localized in your country that you think should be localized? 🥚 MOTHER 3! GIVE US AN OFFICIAL RELEASE NONTENDO!!!

- i love my team so much

- in fact i might have to stop doing a nuzlocke because i have gotten so deeply attached to my team

- ive only lost 3 so far which is kind of a lot for how far in i am now that i think about it

- today i beat the first 2 gyms

- i one-shotted all of nessa’s pokemon with a ribombee who knows pollen puff

- i may have slightly overleveled said ribombee (her name is mario)

- bug type is superior dont @ me

Part of my goal for this August is to do some character design practice, starting with the design for my White 2 Potterlocke final team. Since the nuzlocke is a Potterlocke, ie a nuzlocke with Harry Potter themed rules, I decided to makes the characters with designs mixed with those of Harry Potter creatures.

Pokemon Sword Nuzlocke Prologue

Prologue:

“JUST LEAVE” a female voice is heard. “I don’t want you in our lives anymore just go”. “Mom?”, a little boy comes to see his mother crying on the floor. “Oh Victor. I’m sorry I woke you.” the mom goes to hug her son. “Where’s dad?” Victor asks his mother. “Oh uh. He went out to uh get some moomoo milk. We were running out and I know how much you love Jiggly Puffs so I wanted him to get the coldest and tastiest milk for you”, the mom says while comforting Victor. “Wow really? Thanks mom!”, he says as he goes back up to sleep. 

10 years later…”I guess it’s time”, an older voice speaks, “to be like my dad”. Victor 16.

hey, consider the following

milo’s team being more farm themed and less showing off the games gimmick mechanic with a grass pkmn

(an au where this thing is like raddish colors for the region,vileplum but as a red and white capped mushroom in the rematch, in this fantasy au where the pre-elimination gym game is more involved you have to pull oddishes out from the community garden, you have to be patient and gentle or they’ll posion you, an ingame effect would be yuor whole team gets inflected with poison damage)

(ability:  chlorophyll, moves: poison powder, stun spore, sleep powder, razor leaf)

(rematch moves as a vileplume: petal blizzard, grassy terrain, pollen puff, aromatherapy )

(lumbre will be drawn with like, a top hat and be like muddy green and grey, in the rematch its a ludicolo, again in this fantasy au where the gym “missions” are more involved and game mechanicy, you are given a lumbre to water the garden but you have to make pokefood and be friend it to get it to do what you ask, if you mean or get the food wrong it sprays you with water instead and your team all takes like the equivalent of a water gun attack)

(ability: rain dish, moves: rain dance, water gun, teeter dance, thunder punch)

(moves as a ludicolo in the rematch: rain dance, hydro pump, metronome,thunder punch)

(regional change is it evos when you have morelull or shiinotic on your team! the challenge is to harvest the healthy pumpkins before they get moudly and turn into pumpkaboo! no damage is taken here but its timed! you need like ten pumpkins and a pkmn that knows cut, the time is anywhere between 5-1 min like somethin doable but intense still)

(milo has a supersized one in battle and the rematch he has supersized gourgeist, dynamaxes with the max flare ) (also dont they sorta look alike like milo and a gourgeist?)(also i realized him having this pkmn sorta steps on the ghost gym leaders turf, if it was version exclusive this would be in sword and vileplum would be the gigamakebig in sheild, but its not its a hypothetical gameplay for a nuzlocke run and i want to draw a big pumpkaboo,so)

(ability: frisk, moves: incinerate, trick, vine whip, grass knot; max flare)

(moves as a gourgeist: mystic fire, phantom force, power whip, brutal swing;max flare)

(mini game is basically the same only you issue commands to the yamper, similar to the watering game, you need to know when to give treats, when to give praise, when to whistle and when to yell, you navigate the yamper and wooloo through a corn/wheat/haybail w/e maze, when you reach dead ends theres trainers who are farmhands(who will have some combination of seedot/budew/cherubi/bounsweet/gossifleur) or if your flock and yamper are all over the place herdier (early part of the maze) or a stoutland (later part), once youre all done you have to battle an Old farmer trainer in front of the gate who will have eldegoss, a wooloo and a stoutland, then you can close the gate!)

(ability: rattled, moves: nuzzle, roar, howl, discharge)

(yamper remains unevolved in the rematch, hes a farm dog afterall! moves: wild charge, uproar, snarl, thunder)

(another timed mini game! you gotta milk the miltank with the gameplay like quick time event guitar hero or w/e, its a set sequence and you just got to nail it within one min, this mini game is less involved because this miltank is going to wreck your shit in battle)

 (the miltank is his highest lvl pkmn and her ability is dependant on your starter pkmn! so if you went fire she’ll have thick fat, if you go water she’ll have scrappy, if you went grass she’ll have sap sipper! her move set is milk drink, heart stamp, stomping tantrum and ironhead)

(her move set remains the same for the rematch! and is like sameish levels as the rest of the team now)

(this one is timed AND you take damage, you have to wipe down the mudsdale, you get a towel and the lumbre again you just have to go to use the towel and hit “a” until the dirts all gone, but itll kick and turn about, and you got to qte avoid it with “b”, if youre in the way of the kick all your pokemon take a hit of whats basically stomp! you can feed the lumbre pokefood like before and itll use water gun, keeping the mudsdale still while you wipe it down, each time you do that it takes damage! there are only four spots to wash, and it retains the damage in battle (going no lower than half if you used water gun for each spot, after youre done you’ll go Directly into the gym battle, milo wont sign your card of him if you use water gun on his mudsdale tho!)

Ultra Sun possessed all my interest and my Nuzlocke ways got put on hold for flying through wormholes. So it’s been way too long, but since this is done over text that’s not too obvious, right?

Oh, and during my off-time, it wasn’t something I looked up thanks to that being against the rules, but I remembered that it’s Caspet’s Poison typing that’s a problem against Psychic. Yay for that brief mystery concluding.

Now where the heck am I.

Right. Grinding and caves and not quite ready to talk to Bianca.

And it’s Summer now, according to the game’s clock. I wish that were true in the outside world as well. It’s cold.

If I had a Dawn Stone, I think I would add Diego to the squad. Omchomp is beloved and etc., but I won’t claim to be horribly attached, and Ralts’ every evolution has a spot in my heart that Pokemon Go can’t fill because I’m not wasting 100 candy on anything less than 93% perfection.

Only as much as I love Gardevoir, Gallade is so cool and I only get to pick one, aaaand... Yeah, okay, nothing’s being swapped out yet. Back to grinding. Back to hoping that Boruto learns literally any STAB attack.

Why does this keep happening. Ah, and this is not something Puff should be anywhere near. Arguably nothing on my team should be anywhere near it. #grinding_problems.

The logic behind this was that Puff’s been in front against Kyurem constantly before Nessy gets switched in, and all it ever uses is Ancient Power. If it had anti-Dragon stuff, it’d be using it, right?

Vertex could maybe handle being Diego’s training partner... let’s give that a try instead of bloating Nessy’s level even further.

And the first thing a Charizard does is Dragon Rage the 84 health thing.

This continues to be a very long trial.

So, I’ve just realized that I can fight Clay now, probably, and because I’m largely making myself sad doing non-plot activities, I’m going to give that a go. Nessy is overleveled and suited for it. I’ll give her a Mystic Water. Vertex can carry the Exp. Share for a bit.

Better, but I think I like the previous games’ setup of this gym more. Aesthetically. I hated moving around it, but it was all very pretty. This has too much dark to roll with the pretty much.

First and only pokemon is a level 31 Baltoy. I think we’re good.

First out is a level 31 Krokorok. One Water Pulse downs it. Following that up is a level 31 Sandslash, and in the spirit of optimism and needing exp, Diego’s going to try to Magical Leaf it into submission. One isn’t enough, and Clay uses a Hyper Potion on his next turn. Next Magical Leaf after undoing that does the trick, and I think we’re bringing out Nessy next to contend with the Excadrill.

The level 33 Excadrill.

Nessy’s 38, if I haven’t mentioned it this post.

...Wow. One Water Pulse later, and we’re done with Clay.
