roland from library of ruina drives me insane when it comes to his character design because hes. LITERALLY just a tall thin guy with short black hair and a black suit and SOMETIMES black gloves and SOMETIMES a mask that's just a black oval shape that covers his entire face. like that's it. he doesn't have have any other visual motifs going on
AND YET library of ruina's art style is characteristic and expressive enough that he never comes off as boring. many fixers in this game wear similar business suits, but roland's completely monochrome palette is like a stark contrast to the rest. there aren't really any other characters wearing pure black. even just his posture is eye-catching, his silhouette is easily identifiable. this way he manages to stand out more than even some of the one-off reception characters who have a lot more "interesting" designs, like the rats:
like obviously his voice actor and his personality leave a big impression too, if it weren't for everything else he got going on he wouldn't be nearly as memorable. but it's interesting to me how good art direction can make even the most simple design iconic

Something interesting I have yet seen people point out is the placement of the sinners in battles in Limbus Company.
Those of you who have not played Library of Ruina might not know but generally the player's units, the librarians were placed primarily on the right side of the screen, this is generally seen as defending as the librarians are trying to protect the Library from invaders.
However there's an exception to this, and when it's fighting an abnormality, in the story you're often invading the abnormality's space in order to subdue it, and as such you're placed on the left side instead. Because you are a trespasser in it's domain.
The placement of the sinners in Limbus Company isn't coincidence as the left side is often viewed as someone who's invading in what Project Moon has established, and it makes sense lore wise. The sinners are often the ones invading spaces they don't belong.

Something I really like about the way Limbus Company does ID's is that the kinds of ID's people get tells you a lot about their characters. Like they could totally have just been lazy and given everyone the same kind of IDs, but they really make sure the ID's make sense. Like Faust, shes pretty often in a wing because she wants to gain that data, and shes smart enough for it, Hong Lu is usually in a high status position because hes rich and can get there, and Mersault is garbage in every universe. Really neat way of subtly giving us info on the characters
