Phew. I am TIRED, yall. Priory kind of sucked the reading energy out of me, so I read a bunch of shorties afterwards, and on top of migraines and brain fog returning, I didn't get nearly as much reading done as I wanted. It really wasn't a great month, but what else is new. I'm here, I survived, and I will keep on kicking. Other than Priory, I did enjoy what I read! I prioritized short, fun, silly reads after the 800 page brick and it helped a lot! So for anyone trying to push through a reading slump, try a silly little novella! Like Murderbot maybe.
The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon ⭐⭐- sigh. A book isn't good just because it's long. This could have been edited down and made great, but the multiple POVs was detrimental to this one. A shame, I was really hopeful about it. Also, needs more dragons.
The Kaiju Preservaton Society by John Scalzi ⭐⭐⭐⭐- Silly! Fun! Easy to read! I read it exactly when I should have, it was perfect for what I needed.
Compulsory by Martha Wells ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ -It's Murderbot, of course I liked it. Even though it was only eight pages, it was still a nice segue away from a long book.
A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking by T Kingfisher ⭐⭐⭐⭐- ALSO EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED! I have never been let down by a Kingfihser novel, if you haven't picked up one of her books, I definitely recommend it!
Where the Drowned Girls Go by Seanan McGuire ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐-Ouchie. I felt way too seen by this one, which is how it goes with most of this series. One of my faves from the bunch and I'm glad it's a novella because that means it's easier to reread.
December goals? Raven Tower and Liar's Knot are definitely on my reading list, but other than that I'm just going to try and keep on surviving and hope my health issues get answers. I've come to terms with the fact I'm not going to read my entire goal stack, but that's okay! I've gotten real close! And I still read a lot of books that I already owned! I also have some gift things to attend to as holiday box season is upon us, but sadly I can't share those WIPs or it would ruin the Surprise. Just know they're really neat! Happy December!
