PLOT DROP 004 - THE VALENTINE’S BANQUET
eagerly the town filtered into the banquet hall, surprisingly cleaned of all threat of cobwebs, with the promise of dinner and the lingering curiosity spurring them on. it was decorated beautifully, with glimmering hearts hanging from the ceiling and trays of sweet treats in the corner of the room. victoria wolfgang had clearly worked hard on the event; and she was present from the beginning, behaving oddly social, and making a point of greeting each guest... personally. in secret, the city council president had been making a list of those she had her suspicions on - victoria believed mermaids were real, and in port vale. but she had to be sure, and she needed proof...
before the dinner officially started, while the locals were chatting and filling up on bonbons before the call to begin the meal (and hopefully for victoria to reveal her intentions), she gathered a small group in a corner of the room. some were people she knew well, and others were near strangers; not total, because victoria made it a point to know of everyone. mike thompson, walter perez-moralez, lena derya, theo seong, and karina hutchensen were the little rag-tag group that she’d assembled, and for them, she had a secret; an inside scoop. victoria wolfgang requested for each of them to help her, and more would be explained at dinner, but she had her eyes on specific people in town who she suspected were involved in shady dealing in town. in whispers, she asked them to keep their eyes and ears out, and let her know if anything does seem amiss. the people who have sparked concern under victoria’s radar? ronan delgado, stella sarasvati, amara marino, and nereida malik, and silas waters. especially silas waters.
FINALLY... It Was Time For Dinner To Be Served
across four long, wide tables, the locals took their seats, still whispering and carrying on conversation from before victoria’s interruption. she was stood at the front of the room, arms crossed, and waiting for the attention to be directed her way. “thank you, everyone, for coming tonight. i thought this would be a good time to remember how close we all are, as a town, and how for many of us... this has been our home from the beginning of our lives. port vale is haven, not to mermaids, but to all of us-” her smile was cool, and icy, as she looked out across the town of faces she’d seen everyday... and then, all the rest of the new faces. “and to also ensure that you heard it from me first. the case of our former mayor, samuel blackmore’s, death has been reopened and investigation has resumed. unfortunately i have no other information except that, so please, enjoy your dinner, and make some good memories.”
and then, in typical blunt wolfgang fashion, victoria took her leave and sat down next to stephanie anand, and began to make small talk with the circle of friends seated with the librarian. she leaned in to shake someone’s hand, and as she withdrew, to whispered to steph “i hope you have information for me, soon.”
But during the dinner, another scene unfolded....
having stepped outside for some air after victoria’s sudden announcement, siobhan waters realized that she wasn’t alone. maya chan had already beaten her outside, and before siobhan could go back inside; she was spotted. the mayor’s fiancé was crying, but refused to tell maya what was wrong. “i think something bad might happen,” was all she would admit. “victoria is making a big, big mistake....” but unfortunately, before she could spill more of her thoughts, lumi north came outside and caught siobhan and maya talking. the selkie ran off, back inside to xander blackmore, before anything more could be said; and the mermaids were left alone.
inside, at the bar, ronan delgado and xander blackmore were unexpectedly talking. the mayor himself had been drinking, and in search of a friend; so he was buying drinks for the hippocampi, and rambling on as he did- without much care for what he said, or who may overhear. “everyone has secrets, you know,” xander told ronan, with a wistful sigh. “even my fiancé has her secrets. she told me her mom knew my dad... isn’t that crazy, man? and now the investigation... you know, i think i want to just get away for awhile.”
the mayor was overheard by emilia acosta, renzie anand, and gabi drake, and the topic soon changed to something lighter. it was then siobhan returned from inside, and the mayor as his future bride left the banquet to go home.
The worst was yet to come...
that night, long after the banquet ended and everyone had headed home or to after-parties; more news came. the mayor’s brother, moray blackmore, was not at home, and the lighthouse had not been lit. xander blackmore was hesitant to declare his brother, the lightkeeper, missing, and told everyone not to panic. he would be back soon, xander promised, so no official report was made, but the town took no time in spreading it through whispers.
xander blackmore is asking for volunteers to stay and help operate the north star lighthouse. if you would like to stay at the lighthouse temporarily, please contact the main.

PLOT DROP 002 - The Mayor Finds Love!
             BREAKING NEWS...
The town of Port Vale had spent the past weeks coming together in unity to rebuild, restore, and refresh after the wrath of the storm made so many damages to their home. Victoria Wolfgang had been especially proactive within the community, boasting fundraisers and charming everyone into volunteering in some sort of capacity, and it was hard not to notice the mayor’s lack of participation in the last week. When he called for a town meeting at the city centre, the locals & new visitors were nervous as they all headed to the center of town, curious what this could be about, and what Xander Blackmore had to say to them after hiding out for a week.
“I would like for the town of Port Vale to meet my fiancé, Siobhan Waters.”
After the words were said, a shocked silence coated the gathering. Many had dreamed of the chance to court the popular Blackmore, and he won hearts wherever he went, but not once in the memory of any local had he even so much as dated before. But it was what happened next that truly shocked them - an unknown woman, never before seen in the small community, stepped up beside him and twirled her fingers in with his own.
“Is now really a time for this, Mr. Mayor?” It was Victoria Wolfgang, front and center in the crowd, arms crossed, who spoke up, her voice a harsh axe befallen the silence of them all. Whispers started, like crickets chirping into the night, locals turning to friends and family with confusion. “If you haven’t noticed, we are still rebuilding from the st-”
“What better a time than now? Port Vale should have something to celebrate!” Xander responded, uncharacteristically cutting the city council president off mid-speech. He went on to give a brief introduction of his bride-to-be, crudely lacking any real detail, before waiting for what he knew would be coming; the questions.
It was Jo Rivera who threw the first inquiry out - “When will the wedding take place?”
At this, Xander faltered, but Siobhan leaned in, hand cupping his ear, and whispered too quietly for anyone to overhear. At her words, whatever they may be, the mayor grinned. “Halloween Night, at the annual Halloween festival! What a better time and place for it?”
“So will she be competing as a bride in the Mermaid Pageant?” Once more, it was Victoria to speak up, eyes flashing as she inspected the new woman standing beside the leader of the town. “My daughter Charlotte Wolfgang will also be competing-” This a decision made for her, in that instant, and Victoria smiled to Charlotte. “Perhaps you can offer some sort of prize for the winner.”
Shortly after, the meeting was ended.
Xander Wolfgang and his bride disappeared back into the city centre, letting the gathering of locals disperse on their own. He left them only with questions and the promise of more details about the wedding, and the annual Halloween party, to come later.
As they slowly began to wander off in little groups, excitedly discussing the strange announcement, it was Eira Frost and Ridley Alara who overheard Victoria talking with other council members - “This is absolutely ridiculous. A wedding, to a stranger, at a time like this. We have to do something about this. This will not be good for the town, and he has completely hijacked the party from us all.”
Mellora Atoll and Elistra Smith remained curious, and hung back, waiting to see if anything else strange would happen - and they were rewarded for their hesitance. Shortly after most of the town had gone their separate ways, Siobhan burst from the back door of the city centre, running down the short length of earth to rocky shore, and knelt by the gentle lap of the tides. Though they couldn’t see for sure, it seemed as if the woman sent something out to sea; a lantern, they noticed, once Siobhan headed back inside.
But later that evening...
Siobhan appeared at Starstuck Bouquets just before closing time, and was helped by Reef Lockslan. She ordered a simple floral arrangement and requested it be sent anonymously to the Wolfgang Queen herself. After making the hippocampi promise himself to secrecy, she disappeared back out onto the streets, headed down the road where Xander lived, and let herself into his home with her own key. She was greeted there by him with a kiss, before the door closed, and the town fell into night.
The notecard on the floral arrangement read simply;
Don’t worry.

PLOT DROP 003 - A PORT VALE WINTER
For many of the locals, once the festivities of Halloween ended, it was time to begin the preparations for the colder months - Port Vale is no stranger to snow, and though the ocean never manages to freeze over, ice and chilly winds are only of a few threats they must face as a community as the holidays draw near. The last half of December always promises a small burst of tourism, the crazy adventuring types who get out for winter break or crave a small-town setting to huddle down with their hot cocoa and projects. For those who call Port Vale home?... the peaceful falling snow overnight is far from what their lives look like behind closed doors.
Though the unsuspecting locals were able to finally relax with Xander Blackmore’s wedding to Siobhan Waters delayed, there were more than a few souls finding plenty of other things to worry about. Word had begun to spread, slowly at first, of Siobhan’s true nature - a selkie, alleged to not be in town alone, and many feared her intentions. However, despite the shocking revelations of October, Port Vale had entered the sleepy spell that the winter months always promise. Of course, it doesn’t last long...
ANOTHER NEW FACE ARRIVES IN TOWN
It was Thomas O’Cuilinn who the first to get the opportunity to see her - Scylla had come to shore, looking perfectly human. Her first stop? The Mermaid Museum. She may have managed to spend the entirety of her visit undetected by him; but her own surprise was what gave her away. Upon seeing Thomas, Scylla’s fingers went slack, and released their grip on an artifact she’d been inspecting closely. It fell with a crash and shattered, a priceless treasure from the depths of a shipwreck gone in a flash. “You... came back? You’re- alive?” The woman gasped out, looking almost as if she would reach out and touch him... but instead, uttered a promise to repay the cost of damages, and all but fled the building.
Seeing the hippocampi had done nothing but inspire Scylla more to investigate this town, so different from how she remembered it - the lighthouse, still standing strong as ever, though it was obvious it had faced many a storm in the centuries that had passed. It was that; the beacon of the town, that had drawn her from the sea, and it wasn’t until later when she was safely settled in Soren Nader and Wren Salmon’s apartment, joined by Siobhan and Aylin Topal, that Scylla was able to put her next plan into motion.
“I have a great interest in the North Star, the lighthouse,” She explained to the small group of them; those she considered her closest allies here, those of her creations which she felt she could trust. Not all of the selkies had taken as well to her gift than others; so to them, she entrusted this task. “I want to know who owns it, who owned it before them, I want to have a detailed history of the repairs, especially. I need to know... everything about it. That Moray man, I need that information, too.”
To this, Siobhan was visibly uncomfortable, eyes darting down low, and offering nothing more than a nod - strange behavior, but they knew better than to question her with Scylla around. She promised to return in the new year, with others like them - with more tasks, too, most likely, and Scylla would be expecting reports on the mermaids, sirens, and now... the North Star Lighthouse. As she left, the woman began to lose her strength; faltering, and falling to the snowy ground. It was evening, and the shore was still quite far, so she called out to the single lone person on the street with her - hoping to catch the attention of Gemma Walker. “You! You Coral Sea girl, assist me,” Scylla demanded, reaching out with a shaky hand to be assisted to the beach. If Gemma were to ask questions, they were waved off - the siren was given only the name, Scylla, and once more; a promise of her return. She stressed that she had little time, and a return to the water was essential, but once she reached the water, it was not a tail that appeared.
INSTEAD.... SCYLLA DISAPPEARED BELOW THE WAVES WITH NO TRACE.
A couple of days pass, and more concerning news wafts through the town’s streets; somehow able to keep ahold of secrets, yet at the same time, managing to spill them all over. Reports of illness in the sea were more frequent now, and some facts were beginning to emerge. The mermaids were suffering the most, but exposure to land seemed to help symptoms. In town, Ridley Alara and Allegra Weaving had become sick, though it was hard to tell if it was a common winter cold or the mysterious illness of Assyria - both were unwell, and showing severe cold symptoms.
But they were not the only sirens to be up late worrying; Elistra Smith had an interesting dream the same night that Scylla was in town, though she was oblivious at the time to her presence. In the dream, there was a voice - she spoke comfortingly, in the dream, just a vague figure in the water with Elistra, in her siren form. It was calm in the sea, but dark - thick, almost, but the figure continued speaking. Elistra. I’m sorry you did not find a home here, in what I created for you all. There was a terrible mistake, and the reckoning for it is upon us all now. Even you. You may hide behind your legs, but you are seen, and you are very much needed. I have not yet faded, not entirely. Do not lose faith. If anything else, do not lose that, for I exist, and I am coming.
Perhaps it could have been only that; a dream, and nothing more, but when Elistra awoke the next morning, her hair was wet, dripping onto her pillow, and she smelled exactly of the sea. There were kelp bits matted into her hair, and that morning, the seas were gentle and calm against the surf, as if an echo of the words spoken in the dead of night.
IN A TOWN OF MERMAIDS, A SIGHTING OCCURS
Something about the wintertime in Port Vale inspired the imagination; if you were to study, really study, the legends and lore that created the town, you’d see a major uptick in alleged mermaid sightings, or otherwise odd occurrences, in these chilly months. For Tiago Nussbaum, it was entirely a product of wrong place, right time; a late night walk, an odd hum from the beach, and an overly curious mind brought him to the shores in the darkness. He was there; he saw it happen, the way Gemma helped Scylla into the sea; how the fragile woman had never resurfaced. At first, you could assume murder had conspired, but that wasn’t all that went noticed under his gaze - but instead, two sirens arriving to the shore, dragging themselves from the water and losing their tail before ducking off to a meeting place to speak of reports back home. Among the locals that the sirens met, Tiago knew he recognized a face somewhere in the mix - but who would believe his stories, if he was able to share them? A town where mermaid sightings are as spoken of as stray cats, but very little taken seriously...
WINTER WAS UPON PORT VALE. AND SECRETS NEVER TAKE WELL TO THE COLD; AS HEARTS WARM, LIPS LOOSEN, AND THE CRASH OF WAVES AGAINST ROCK PROMISE THAT THE HOLIDAYS WILL BRING PLENTY MORE THAN GOOD CHEER AND JOY FOR ALL.

PLOT DROP 001 - The North Star Goes Dark?
For days, the storm lingered just on the horizon; as if testing the might & will of the Port Vale locals, to see how long they could withstand the suspense of it’s impending force. When it finally hit, suddenly as if it had held back waiting, there was little warning of it’s approach other than cool winds and low clouds. The ocean had come for Port Vale with a vengeance, the waves reaching for the shore, hungry and greedy.
As suddenly as it had begun, the storm ceased and the clouds rolled out, leaving the town recovering from the damage of it’s rage. Victoria Wolfgang’s task force were busy through the storm, but in the ocean, there were more forces at work trying to protect the town; Reef Lockslan & Lazarus were in their hippocampi form, just out of sight of the humans (and undercover mer) helping from land. It was in the howling worst of the storm that Laz froze, hit with a wave of lost memories, fragments of a dark cave, unfamiliar voices... fuzzy and overpowering. Reef was able to keep him from harm, the ocean aiming it’s strongest tides to Laz, but they both could hear the voice in the water; come back. An argument between sirens Valentina Romanova & Elistra Smith ended as the storm hit, but on the way back to her apartment, a car slid due to the rain and came skidding off of the road, catching Val off-guard and nearly pinning her between it and the wall of The Starbeach Café, causing minor damage to the siren & major damage to the café. Elistra had her hands busy helping Victoria; she’d headed to the chapel to check on those seeking shelter, when she saw Quinn Darcy struggling in the storm. The Kelp Forrest Campsite had flooded, and Q was trying to make it through the knee-deep water when the strong winds pushed debris into him, the ocean greedy to pull him down & away. The siren got him to safety with some struggle, but they both would be sporting bruises & minor injuries in the days following.
It wasn’t just the town suffering; on the outskirts, Emilia Acosta & Renzie Anand found themselves without shelter in the heavy rain by the castle ruins. The beaten path towards town was covered with water rushing to the cliffs, and Emilia nearly stumbled to her death over the decline of the rocks. As she started to fall, Renzie pulled her back to safety, but not before she saw something odd in the corner of her eyes; heads in the water, swimming expertly despite the powerful waves, as if they were part of the ocean itself... but then they were gone, off in the direction away from town.
The day after the storm, the town came together with Mayor Xander Blackmore to access the damage to the town & ensure everyone was safe. The biggest news of the hour that morning?
The North Star Lighthouse was back in working order, light brighter than ever. And the mysterious emerald pendant? Gone, again. Unknown to the town, Mellora Atoll had staged a break-in at the museum, trusting mermaids from the North Atlantic with the task of returning the artifact... but the storm had overpowered them, too, and the gemstone was now lost into the unforgiving sea. The superstitious locals whisper good riddance, the damn thing was cursed, the damn thing broke our lighthouse, good riddance! In general, the locals were happy to brush the recent events off and return to normal under the cloudless skies, storm in the past - but for those who know better?
It felt like just the beginning.

PLOT DROP 001 - The North Star Goes Dark?
A THICK MIST HAS ROLLED INTO TOWN...
Another storm is brewing. As the Port Vale locals begin to wake up on Sunday, September 12th, exactly one week from the Starry Seas Lantern Festival, it doesn’t take long from them to realize that something unusual had occurred during the night. Moray Blackmore, the lightkeeper, had been working through the night to try and relight the North Star Lighthouse, but despite his efforts, the lighthouse remained dark.
“UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE... All Harbor Activities Have Been Suspended.”
Xander Blackmore, Port Vale’s mayor, addresses the town as concern begins to grow among the residents. There had never been a time in known Port Vale history that their precious lighthouse had remained dark for so long; and with Moray insisting that nothing seemed to be wrong with it, Xander decided to enlist the help of a fancy technician from the city. Many locals were hesitant to allow a stranger come and tinker with their precious historical relic, including the Lightkeeper himself, who took it upon himself to closely watch the technician as he made his own attempt to relight the beacon. He was joined in his babysitting by Renzie Anand, who could not in good conscious allow something so drastic to take place in his beloved town without adding his own supervision to the mix, and got away with his snooping by offering free lunch to those working on the North Star.
The storm would be hitting soon.
MEANWHILE... A Discovery Is Made
On the historical mermaid statue in front of Port’s Point City Centre, Kyree Abraham notices an interesting pendant now hanging from the bronze creature. It looked old, and intriguing, with an ancient language engraved on the back of an emerald medallion. She turns it into the City Centre, and the mayor hunts down Mellora Atoll, insisting that she display this new-found relic in the museum.
But to her horror, she recognized the pendant. Despite her extra caution to protect the gemstone which Atla, the former princess of her North Atlantic Ocean, was born from; it had ended up here... in Port Vale. Stolen? By Whom? And worse yet, now on display for the whole town to gawk at.
Stephanie Anand is asked to investigate the origins of the pendant, and it’s so... oddly familiar to her, as if she’d seen it (or something similar) drawn on an old paper somewhere in her stacks of research. She isn’t the only one with a mystery to solve; Lucia Frost notices that a few dead fish had washed up on the far side of the beach, seemingly to have been affected by a sickness she had never seen in the water before.
The Storm Is Coming.
After hours of work, the fancy city technician leaves Port Vale defeated; the lighthouse remains dark, and questions remain unanswered. All the employees who work at the dock are put on temporary leave, and the mayor puts restrictions on all boating, fishing, and swimming until the lighthouse is repaired. He promises this is temporary, and urges the town to focus on preparing for the storm... enough wrecks happen at the town’s rocky shore with the lighthouse in action.
Talk is spreading fast through the town, and already the locals are wondering if the ancient pendant that had been found had something to do with the lighthouse’s unexplainable darkness. To the mermaids, they know what that pendant is, and they want to catch the thief who snatched it from the North Atlantic. Their eyes are turned to the sirens for this crime, but the sirens feel the mermaids are the ones responsible for this. As for the humans...?
Victoria Wolfgang decides to set up a temporary task force to babysit the sea from land as night begins to fall, ready to rescue anyone who finds themselves lost in the darkness of the waves. Tension is high, windows are shuttered, and all eyes are towards the lighthouse, hoping it would magically relight and put an end to the confusion. The storm will come and it will pass, as they always do, but the hippocampi can feel something stirring in the air.
Something is coming, and this won’t be the beginning of what Port Vale will face unless questions get answers soon.

PLOT DROP 002 - The Mayor Finds Love! ...PART 2 / conclusion
HAUNTS ON THE HARBOR IS IN FULL SWING...
All of Port Vale gathered down at the harbor, adorned in costume both sweet and scary alike, to enjoy the annual party in the spirit of haunting. This year, there was a suspenseful energy to the crowd of partiers, spending the day anticipated the strange wedding that would be taking place that evening. The Mayor had only announced his engagement a week prior, and the bride in question was still largely a mystery to all. Many saw the Halloween party as a chance to - hopefully - get some quality time with Siobhan Waters, but it was Gabi Drake who got the strangest opportunity. Wrong place, right time; Siobhan was in a hurry leaving the party just an hour before the wedding was to take place, leaving the contest stage, and she crashed into Gabi, dropping her purse into the sand, and it’s contents spilling out. The siren captain had only a couple of seconds before the bride quickly shoved it all back inside, but it was enough to notice the glint of a green emerald... undeniably Atla’s pendant that had been ‘reclaimed’ by the sea, so said the rumors among Assyrians. Xander Blackmore appeared before anything could be said, and the happy couple carried on their way in a hurry.
At the Mermaid Statue, the Wedding Guests Wait for the Ceremony to Begin...
... but they stand there anxiously for a long time. 9pm, the scheduled time, came and passed, and as it began to hit the 45 minute mark after the hour, Victoria Wolfgang appeared at the end of the aisle where Siobhan was meant to make her wedding march. She stands for a moment as all eyes turn on her, allowing the curiosity to peak, before finally addressing them. “The wedding has been cancelled...” The city council president spoke, a ghost of a smirk on her face and arms crossed. “...and rescheduled for next spring. It would seem our mayor has had a moment of clarity, and our happy couple decides it would be best to wait.”
Chatter amongst the locals immediately bursts out, a quiet roar of whispers and questions. Clearing her throat loudly, Victoria indicated she had more to say. After instructing the guests to return to the festivities of the Halloween Party and carry-on with their evening, she also suggested giving Xander and Siobhan some privacy in this “difficult time”, and to put no more thought to the cancellation. But as the crowd dispersed slowly, keen to mingle and gossip, Victoria approached Elistra Smith, and held her back for a moment to talk privately. With a fair bit of forced concern, the city council president asks Elistra to try and talk with Xander Blackmore, try to get him to open up about his bride and what seemed to be his cold feet. She suggests to even enlist Cecil in the attempt, explaining to Elistra further that she has seen strange behavior from Xander lately, and she thinks something is amiss. “I have already put the bug in Mr. Blackmore’s ear that a trip to the chapel would be good for his spirits, so please be expecting him, Ms. Smith.”
But for Assyria, There are Other Concerns to Deal with...
Gemma Walker had been hanging back from the crowd by the beach, when a siren from her own Coral Sea caught her attention. She had come with a message for the captain, and not a good one - a strange sickness had affecting a small number of her sirens back home, but it wasn’t just them. Rumors of both sirens & mermaids alike falling ill had been whispered across Assyria, and the Coral Sea sirens felt it was important to pass on the warning; and also to advise to avoid the water at all costs. Valentina Romanova also received a similar message from her own sirens.
Back in the town, Ridley Alara and Emilia Acosta were back at the deserted stage of the mermaid costume contest, hoping to change into something more comfortable for the rest of the evening after the wedding failure. As they slipped into something more comfortable, Victoria Wolfgang’s voice could be heard from the other side of the curtain. She was in hushed conversation with someone unknown, and maybe they shouldn’t have paused and listened, but they did... “This town is becoming a joke,” Victoria could be heard saying, frustration undeniable in her tone. “The mermaids have become a mockery of everything we are, everything we have built. And it’s that Xander’s fault, encouraging it all. I know things he doesn’t... about this place. He will take us right down into the Earth.”
To the girls surprise, it was Siobhan’s voice who responded - “You’re wrong! If we could just tell him...” But Victoria cut her off with a scoff, and continued on her own rant about it.
“Time is of the essence here. I was willing to see what could be done, but now I’m not. Today has been nothing short of disaster, and since you won’t tell me the truth, I will find it on my own. I already have many on my side, and once my campaign is finished, I will be pushing the town to reconsider their choice of mayor. It should be me. Even you can’t disagree.”
The Night Continued On Until Late into the Early Morning Hours...
As the crowd on the harbor slowly thinned until only a few dedicated locals remained, Renzie Anand began the process of clean-up, deciding to start down at the beach where the game booths have been taken down, and trash and candy now littered the sand. His watch read somewhere around 3am, and though he was tired, he headed down the beach to work his way back up to the town, trash bag in hand. It took a few moments for him to realize he was not alone - but the sound of muffled voices brought his attention to a small, private dock extending into the water where two figures stood. At first, Renzie planned to mind his own business, but upon realizing that Siobhan Waters was one of the figures, he decided to creep closer. Though unable to hear their hushed tone, it was close enough to determine the other woman with the mayor’s fiancé was unknown to him. In the foreign woman’s hand was a large fur coat, thick and appearing heavy.
Renzie stepped closer yet, curiosity beating out morality, and was able to pick up just enough to hear Siobhan say - “I’ll come back with the others soon. Thank you.”
The other woman handed the coat to Siobhan after some discussion, and the woman all but disappeared into the excessive furry folds, wrapping it around her body and then - to his surprise, leapt from the end of the small dock and into the water. In the ripples where her head should appear, instead there was a harbor seal popping up for air, it’s sleek coat the exact same mottled gray & black as the coat that Siobhan had put on. The seal looked back to the dock, and the unknown woman, before diving under once more and heading out into the sea. Just as Renzie was about to react, the woman on the dock turned around, looking directly at him, and put a finger to her lips in a shush motion, donning a smile. Then, she too, leapt from the edge and into the sea - but did not resurface, not as herself or any other creature. The water simply stilled in the darkness.
... read about the mystery woman here!
