I've been following these poll tourneys very closely and got an idea for one of my own! I love video game OST's and thought it'd be fun to make one about that, especially since music has been a less explored venue than characters.

Qualifications:

Must be from a video game

Must coincide with some kind of battle with the video game's enemies. Something that hypes you up and makes you feel unstoppable!

General battle themes or boss fight themes welcome

Some examples I had in mind: With Twilight of the Gods from Shadows of Valentia, God Shattering Star from Fire Emblem Three Houses, Song of the Ancients (Fate) from Nier Replicant/Gestalt

Y'all can submit those or whatever you want! In fact I'm excited to find new OST's to listen to!

Rules:

I won't tolerate any rudeness or toxicity. Any offenders will be blocked.

No botting/cheating either, please. Let's just have a fun time here.

No video games that are very NSFW in nature please!

You can only submit your song once but you are free to send in multiple. Basically, no flooding with a repeat confession.

Propaganda is welcome, especially during the submission phase if you want a song submitted- though for the most part the music will be speaking for itself I think!

This is something very new for me and I don't rlly know much about tournament seeding or w/e so it'll probably be randomized. Please be patient with me!

Pokemon games!

Send me the name of a video game franchise, and I’ll respond with my favorite game, scene, song, and character from that franchise! [Accepting, Thank you for the ask!]

Franchise: Pokemon

Ah yes, another franchise that is obviously very dear to me. I have been introduced to it very early in my life, and it has stuck with me since. This is a serie that brings me a lot of comfort, I have many good memories associated with it.

Unfortunately, I am going through what appears to be a franchise burnout since 2020. I am not happy with the direction that the serie is taking, the franchise rn feels like just a husk of what it used to be. I think it is safe to assume I was really disappointed with gen 8, and it was my wake up call to the current state of it. I haven't given up on it, I just need to take my time from it.

With that said though, when it comes to the games. Mainline ones: I have played through all of them, until gen 5 (with the exception of FRLG). Then I played ORAS, that's the most recent pokemon game I own.

Spin-offs: Mystery dungeon blue rescue team, ranger (didn't get v far into it) and battle revolution! Oh yeah I also played masters for awhile, I should get back to it bc of the new story mode's chapters... Although tbh I'm really only waiting for them to add Juan to the game, that's the last character I need so I can say how 'I have all my favorites'.

Fun fact: I OWN a pokemon jade version cartridge. :P if anyone is familiar with bootleg/piracy stuff, or is into reading about these things I suggest looking into this stuff.

Favorite game: I am VERY nostalgic about gen 4, Sinnoh is very special to me. Diamond version might be the one I played the most of. However, I got to play my old games awhile back and now I can safely say how B2/W2 stole that spot. Gen 5 was when pokemon was at its best. I couldn't bring myself to complete platinum version, meanwhile I was already doing post-game stuff in B2 like... I don't recall having THIS much fun, when I first got to try it (I was a dumb kid, who used to smash A as quickly as possible without taking my time or even care to read stuff).

Favorite scene: it is not exactly a scene but... Pokemon world tournament, from B2W2 ❤️ it felt such a neat little way to pay homage to the older gens, until that point.

Favorite song: HGSS have such great remixes of classic tunes! I also LOVE B2W2's OST.

I celebrated my birthday!

Honey, 2020 has been a trip and I hope to God it ends faster than a battle against a Magikarp that only knows Splash.

Pound my friggin’ head against a wall because this dex entry made me recall an unpleasant Pokemon episode.

My rage is rising...RISING DAMMIT!

And watch Honey quickly become best girl of the game.

ON TO THE TUNDRA!

South of Galar is the frozen wasteland known as the Crown Tundra. As soon as you arrive, you’ll get an update in your pokedex and you’ll run into some trouble.

Is this a stranger danger moment or just some snotty teenager moment?

Either way, you battle this fella so that his daughter can escape his clingy father’s clutches.

Heads up, this fool has level 70+ steel-type pokemon. Much like a certain other person in this game. But we’ll get to that when we get to that.

Peony’s daughter leaves and goes to a place called the Max Lair. A place filled to the brim with legendary pokemon.

You rent pokemon. Go down different paths. After three rounds, then you can go up against a legendary. The automatic players aren’t as useless as normal raid battles. And you can always ask friends and relations on the internet to join you.

Let’s talk to our good mate, Peony.

No wonder his daughter wants to ditch him. Peony’s a fall-down drunk.

Wow, he very well could be a fall-down drunk. And then this...

Good eye. Actually, Peony is in fact Chairman Rose’s brother. Even Oleanna was confused.

Let’s head off to the one town in this frozen tundra.

Freezington? Oh, Pokemon...

Before I get to the tasks, let’s go skulking around the areas.

FUCK!

Nobody. Absolutely no-fucking-body missed these blood-sucking, annoying as fuck, blue-balled fucks. Say what you will about this game and the lack of essential pokemon, not seeing Zubat for a straight 11 months in a game was a God-send!

You will receieve Cosmog after you save the town of Freezington.

Only I could be so fucking thrilled about being followed by two Clefables. To be fair, only one of those is wild. Missy was just following me and ignoring the wild one.

I got my sixth OG pokemon pal, Lucy the Dratini.

FYI, not every pokemon is in the Crown Tundra pokedex. I still await Ampharos. But the Dratini line-up makes me very happy.

This giant tree. You can shake it. No fruit comes down. But if you shake it just right...

Giant, fat squirrely. Gigantamaxed!

Well, onto the missions with Peony.

In the tundra, there’s a huge tree you can see from a long ways away. That’s where the Galarian Zapdos, Moltres, and Articuno are.

And I disturbed the harmony of fire, ice, and lightening.

If you don’t get what I just said, fuck off.

The three birds took off in different directions and start causing havoc throughout the Galar region.

Moltres will flap around the Isle of Armor

Zapdos will run around in Wild Area

And Articuno will troll you in the coldest area of the Crown Tundra.

It should also be worth mentioning that the Galarian forms are different types. Moltres is part dark, Zapdos is part fighting, and Articuno is part psychic.

Disturb not the harmony of Dark, Psychic, and Fighting.

Next up...

Sorry, force of habit.

Throughout the tundra are giant buildings that require you of something in order for it to open. Much like the Ruby/Sapphire games, you go through some tedious tasks just to get the Regi-trio. On top of that, they give us the same OST.

Once you capture Regirock, Registeel, and Regice, you can get one of the new Regis. But you can only pick one. Either the dragon type or electric type.

And finally...

This one is kind of a lengthy mission. It starts with taking the head of a statue from Peony (who has been using it as a pillow).

Dude. Why would you think the head of a statue is a fucking pillow?

Lay off the Absolut, would ya?!

Once you return the head onto the statue, a new pokemon would like a word with you.

But wait Medea, pokemon can’t talk.

Taken care of!

Here’s a human host.

And this happens time...

And time...

And time again!

Shouldn’t have insulted Calyrex’s head, mate.

It’s been eons since anyone has sighted Calyrex and only some of the elders of Freezington know about it. So after asking village elders, talking to the mayor, buying carrot seeds, and planting carrot seeds, we’re about to meet Calyrex’s noble steed.

Calyrex does not have that much power, but if he has his noble steed maybe it could happen. Just that Rin Sohma over here is stubborn. And we have to chase it to the highest, coldest part of Crown Tundra. Plus have the mayor and Peony craft an item that’ll attach both pokemon when they’re together.

God Peony, get it together.

Once these two are together again, you may battle them and catch them.

Once captured, you can detach both pokemon with the special item you crafted during the mission. FYI, Pokemon HOME will not allow you to put the fused one in the box.

Now that all three missions are finished, Peony’s daughter Peonia will show up.

And totally ruin the moment with his daughter.

I thought he was trying to propose to her to be honest. After Peonia runs off in disgust and Peony chases after her it looks like the adventure isn’t over yet.

Eh...I’ll take a break from this portion.

Another thing to do in the Crown Tundra...

Tracking footprints.

And suddenly I remember having to complete that fat-fuck, Zygardre.

Sonia is doing some research and once you get 100% in three areas, it’ll open the doors to some more legendaries.

And finally...

If you’re from the Trump campaign, I’m reporting you to the police for harassment.

Oh God, it’s Leon.

Well, the hammy, former-champion wants to flex his muscles by doing yet another tournament. Where you can battle alongside someone.

Fuck’s sake, this skank is here too?

Yeah, depending on what game you play Klara and Avery return to compete and to tell you that they are now a gym leader (in the minor division).

Old age?

If Leon is old to Raihan, what does that make someone like Opal?

It works much like the league rematches, except you’re in doubles with the person of your choice.

Well, this has been a wild ride filled with legendaries. Lots and lots and LOTS of legendaries.

And no Ampharos!

One can only wonder if there’ll be another game expansion with more DLC’s in the future. I mean, there’s a good chunk of the entire pokedex that’s still prohibited from being in the game. Now, are these expansion packs worth the extra $30 per game? I found joy in these. But I know some people who are disenchanted by how small these side quests are or the lack of their favorite pokemon or some other such bitching.

I honestly don’t think there’ll be any more surprise areas of the Galar region for there to be another side quest. Unless they create an Ireland for us to fly to that has a town full of Wooloos and Mareeps. It should be a thing, but it isn’t. What will the future hold for Sword and Shield? Will we get more in the coming year or will the creators move onto bigger and more exciting projects?

In the meantime, I’m going to fill up these pokedexes.

I’m sure there’s gotta be some more fucked-up entries that rival the ghost types.

Weekly Media Roundup

- The Witcher (TV) - I suppose it’s unfair of me to judge this show for what I want it to be (An episodic fantasy where a likable found family deals with interesting and creative monsters) Vs what is actually is (A plot-driven fantasy drama focusing on morally grey characters failing to prevent global disaster), but boy was it hard to care this season. The world is so bleak and the characters are all so miserable and angry all the time, they’re not fun to be around. I did like some of the monster designs this season, but most of the new characters were equally as miserable and vindictive as the main cast, I found myself not really caring when bad things started happening because they didn’t really show us any reason why we should care about this world or it’s people. Not sure I’m going to stick around for season 3, this was a bit of a slog. 

- Project Runway (TV) - Season finale! I definitely disagreed with the judges final choice, but there where a lot of looks I liked in the last runway show surprisingly. 

- Arcane (Animation) - Talked about this last time, don’t have much more I feel like saying right now-It’s good.

-Yu Yu Hakusho (Anime) - We finally got to the Dark Tournament Baby. Let’s see how many of these freaks I actually remember from my childhood.

-The Magnus Archives (Podcast) - Got my sister into it and it’s gotten me to rekindle my love for the series. Currently stockpiling so much art and animatics to whip out just at the right moment. 

-Ranking of Kings (Anime) - Dude the second OP is so good y’all.

-Ace Attorney (Video Games) - Decided to go through the whole series, starting with revisiting the first game. This will take awhile.

-Pokemon Legends Arceus (Video Games) - I. What the hell is this game. Nintendo just completely abandoned the old school formula and was like “okay, so here's a game where GOD yeets you into the past with a magic cell phone, where everyone is terrified of Pokémon because they all want to kill you on sight. We will make it very clear that you can and will die. You will have to physically boss battle pokemon with your own bare hands. People will constantly be in awe that you manage to approach a pokemon without it murdering you. Any Questions?”. I love it. It’s ridiculous. After Sword and the rest of the recent pokemon games being a bit disappointing, I wasn’t expecting to take to this one as quick as I did but wow I’m having a blast. I’ll hopefully have more to say about the story or NPCs later, but for now I’ve been messing around in the overworld a lot just chasing and being chased by feral creatures, as Arceus intended.

-Genshin Impact (Video Game) - Took a bit of pause from this in order to play Pokemon, but I’m still thoroughly impressed with the game so far. Cheating a little by looking at animatics and fanart, looks like I’ve barely scraped the surface of the story at this point, having just made it into Liyue.

i’ve beaten Ghost Trick more than five times. highlight of my 14 year old career was helping a streamer/content creator i liked through the puzzles live while he was streaming. i feel like if i tried i could speed run it.

I have very little gaming clothes/accessories, mostly because i get very embarrassed when wearing them in public. They’re mostly stuff for pajamas, and i don’t usually go out and seek them either. They’re gifts!

I thought very briefly about playing in a local smash tournament at school, but stopped myself because of Anxiety. That and they don’t play Smash 4 because they’re Melee Only

Right now, I currently have around 8+, counting the DS’? I still have my original DS and a DS Lite, 3DS and Max 3DS and my Gameboy SP is still around somewhere. PS4, Wii U, Wii

When I was younger, I did this a lot! I have the Spongebob Movie game, a Powerpuff Girls game. A Kim Possible Game. One of those Nick Crossover games. I had a Shrek Game and a lot of spongebob/powerpuff/kim possible games.

34. Do either of your parents play video games?

I taught my mom how to play COD when I was younger and she actually turned out pretty okay! She also LOVES Mario Kart, and she actually introduced me to it/taught me how to play 64 back when we had a Nintendo 64. We play Double Dash all the time, as it is her favorite. She’s very good.

36. Have you ever shed actual blood, sweat or tears over a game?

First game I cried over was Ghost Trick, it’s been a downhill battle ever since with video games.

I think I sweat when I play Overwatch every time because of Stressful Lucio Situations.

38. A game you’re ashamed to admit that you like?

I actually didn’t hate Sonic Chronicles but I literally have no defense for it. It’s awful, but i enjoyed it when i played it. Babies First Owned Sonic Game Nostalgia.

OKAY i don’t know Why we had it but. When I was growing up we had an actual Original Donkey Kong arcade machine? And it kicked my ass? All the time?

I don’t usually like this kind of game? But I played Tomodachi Life for a long time and it helped me when I was overrun with Crippling Anxiety. I lost the cartridge and I’m kinda sad about it, but c’est la vie.

It has to look like me and if it doesn’t I riot

I wasn’t really a begger for Video Games? I was satisfied with whatever I had at the time and played it forever until my mom decided it was Time For Another (hence my low game pool). I think the only game I really got on my parents for was Pokemon Emerald, because I had played the demo earlier in the year and was Smitten.

Nintendo Switch March 2018 Announcements! For your convenience, I have listed all announcements in a chronological video with the video. 3DS Headlines First! Warioware mini games on the 3DS. 300 micro games. (Yes 300!). Uses all features of the 3DS such as gyroscope and microscope. August 3rd 2018 Warioware Goal Dillion’s Dead Heat Breakers – Tower Defense style game playing as animalised characters. Coordination matched gameplay to take down monsters. Release date May 24th 2018. DS post Mario and Luigi Broswers Inside Journey now on the 3DS. RPG style based gameplay, game takes place in Browser’s stomach. Browser Available 2019 Detective Pikachu – old cop style pikachu who loves coffee. Pokemon in the game’s story behvaing oddly. Available for pre purchase Available March 23rd 2018 Amiibo coming on the same day 3DS Remake of Luigi’s Mansion! The GameCube classic is now coming to the 3DS. The 3DS keeps on giving! New boss battle mode and map screens. Available this year. Not bad 3DS! Quickly got through it to see the Switch stuff too. Kirby Star Allies coming out next week. Characters such as King Dede and Metaknight can be played as via co-op play. More ”dream friends” will be added for free. Characters are from the older Kirby games. A ”dream come true” surely! Available March 16th. First update coming March 28. Free demo available by the way! Okami HD on Switch! Very suitable. Okami HD has always been compared with Zelda Twilight Princess. The Switch version allows touchscreen controls in handheld mode and motion controls in the TV mode. Available this summer. Sushi Striker The Way of Sushida. Food style game in unique setting where.. sushi is banned. Gameplay consists of matching sushi colors and eating them. Multiplayer mode available. Available June 8. Project Octopath more details. Two new main characters. Tressa who is a mechant sets off for adventure. Her unique ability is buying other items from townsfolk. Alfyn’s journey is to heal others. He has the ability to suss out info from townsfolk. All characters start off with an default job (Final Fantasy and DQ like) but can equip another one. Available July 13th 2018! Release date finally revealed. Pop up book, map, OST CD, replica coin included in special edition. Travis is back! Travis Strikes Again No More heroes. Action, racing and puzzle game styled. 7 different game types. Boss fight at the end of each game. Seems less bloody than before but gameplay looks intensive. Available this year. Dark Souls Switch – remaster of one of the best games of all time. Hopefully the remaster fixes the framerate issues as that was the game’s biggest issue. Before launch, a beta(?) is coming! Awesome. Solaire of Astoria Praise the Sun Amiibo! Not a fan of ambiibos but this is excellent. Available on May 25th. Reminder that gold points can now be used to get Switch discounts on the eshop. Mario Tennis Aces focused on now. More than 15 characters with different playstyles. Up to 4 players multi-player. Variety of shots available regarding gameplay. New features such as Zone Shot which allows motion controls to aim where to shoot. Rackets can be damaged and be broken. Instant KO if you have no more rackets. Perfect timing pass backs can avoid this. Slow motion movement available via Zone Speed. Energy gauge allows offense and defense tactics. Online play is available including tournaments. Standard match making. Participation bonus such as characters and skins. Motion controls possible via Swing Mode. Wow, quite the information loadout. Available June 22nd. Pre-launch online tournament coming up. Another beta test? Captain Toad Treasure Tracker being ported to Switch. I’m sure there will rumours about this one coming. New levels from Super Mario Odyssey such as New Dong City. Can be played with a friend via joy-cons. 3DS version coming even! Available July 13th. Undertale coming to Nintendo Switch – ”eventually” Crash on Switch! Perfect, works so well. I have not played it yet hoping it would come to the Switch so really pleased with this one. Available July 10. Puzzle Platformer suspense style. Looks really unique. Two seperate adventures, 8 chapters, story based on going through childhood fears. Complex puzzles and dynamic lightning for atmosphere. Available May 18th. South Park coming to Switch! Another prediction made correct. South Park The Fractured But Whole is a very succsefful RPG and fits very well on the Switch. All DLC needs to be bought seperately. Available April 24th. Hyrule Warriors Definite Edition – which was previously announced- now has a release. Available May 18th. New update for ARMS. A new tournament is available. Based in US and Canada, online battles, taking place March 8 to 18th. Finalists will continue on March 31st. Play for the game for free on the March 31st. Splatoon 2 update. Version 3.0 is coming. More than 100 pieces of new gear being added. More levels, 3 in total. Rank X, higher than S+, can now be achieved. Splatoon 3? New video from the developers… (I won’t change initial thoughts noted here!) Single player focused version of Splatoon it looks like. Yes, looks like it with different level designs and environments. Splatoon 2 Octo – DLC for Splatoon 2. Single player focused DLC coming. Play as new character ”Agent 8”. Wakes up with no memories in test facilities (Portal much?). Got to love the developer from the development team’s gestures… Available Summer 2018. And that’s it… nope, one more video! A lot of ink – another Splatoon announcement. NOPE, Smash Bros is coming to the Switch! Pretty clear that Splatoon characters will be joining the roster. Releasing in 2018. Well I must say, I got it completely wrong with my Diablo 3 prediction!
