Are Game Blogs Uniquely Lost?
All this started with my looking for the old devlog of Storyteller. I know at some point it was linked from the blogroll on the Braid devlog. Then I tried to look at on old devlog of another game that is still available. The domain for Storyteller is still active. The devblog is gone.
I tried an old bookmark from an old PC (5 PCs ago, I think). It was a web site linked to pixel art and programming tutorials. Instead of linking to the pages directly, some links link led to a twitter threads by authors that collected their work posted on different sites. Some twitter threads are gone because the users were were suspended, or had deleted their accounts voluntarily. Others had deleted old tweets. There was no archive. I have often seen links accompanied by "Here's a thread where $AUTHOR lists all his writing on $TOPIC". I wonder if the sites are still there, and only the tweets are gone.
A lot of "games studies" around 2010 happened on blogs, not in journals. Games studies was online-first, HTML-first, with trackbacks, tags, RSS and comment sections. The work that was published in PDF form in journals and conference proceedings is still there. The blogs are gone. The comment sections are gone. Kill screen daily is gone.
I followed a link from critical-distance.com to a blog post. That blog is gone. The domain is for sale. In the Wayback Machine, I found the link. It pointed to the comment section of another blog. The other blog has removed its comment sections and excluded itself from the Wayback Machine.
I wonder if games stuff is uniquely lost. Many links to game reviews at big sites lead to "page not found", but when I search the game's name, I can find the review from back in 2004. The content is still there, the content management systems have been changed multiple times.
At least my favourite tumblr about game design has been saved in the Wayback Machine: Game Design Tips.
To make my point I could list more sites, more links, 404 but archived, or completely lost, but when I look at small sites, personal sites, blogs, or even forums, I wonder if this is just confirmation bias. There must be all this other content, all these other blogs and personal sites. I don't know about tutorials for knitting, travel blogs, stamp collecting, or recipe blogs. I usually save a print version of recipes to my Download folder.
Another big community is fan fiction. They are like modding, but for books, I think. I don't know if a lot of fan fiction is lost to bit rot and link rot either. What is on AO3 will probably endure, but a lot might have gone missing when communities fandom moved from livejournal to tumblr to twitter, or when blogs moved from Wordpress to Medium to Substack.
I have identified some risk factors:
Personal home pages made from static HTML can stay up for while if the owner meticulously catalogues and links to all their writing on other sites, and if the site covers a variety of interests and topics.
Personal blogs or content management systems are likely to lose content in a software upgrade or migration to a different host.
Writing is more likely to me lost when it's for-pay writing for a smaller for-profit outlet.
A cause for sudden "mass extinction" of content is the move between social networks, or the death of a whole platform. Links to MySpace, Google+, Diaspora, and LiveJournal give me mostly or entirely 404 pages.
In the gaming space, career changes or business closures often mean old content gets deleted. If an indie game is wildly successful, the intellectual property might ge acquired. If it flops, the domain will lapse. When development is finished, maybe the devlog is deleted. When somebody reviews games at first on Steam, then on a blog, and then for a big gaming mag, the Steam reviews might stay up, but the personal site is much more likely to get cleaned up. The same goes for blogging in general, and academia. The most stable kind of content is after hours hobbyist writing by somebody who has a stable and high-paying job outside of media, academia, or journalism.
The biggest risk factor for targeted deletion is controversy. Controversial, highly-discussed and disseminated posts are more likely to be deleted than purely informative ones, and their deletion is more likely to be noticed. If somebody starts a discussion, and then later there are hundreds of links all pointing back to the start, the deletion will hurt more and be more noticeable. The most at-risk posts are those that are supposed to be controversial within a small group, but go viral outside it, or the posts that are controversial within a small group, but then the author says something about politics that draws the attention of the Internet at large to their other writings.
The second biggest risk factor for deletion is probably usefulness combined with hosting costs. This could also be the streetlight effect at work, like in the paragraph above, but the more traffic something gets, the higher the hosting costs. Certain types of content are either hard to monetise, and cost a lot of money, or they can be monetised, so the free version is deliberately deleted.
The more tech-savvy users are, the more likely they are to link between different sites, abandon a blogging platform or social network for the next thing, try to consolidate their writings by deleting their old stuff and setting up their own site, only to let the domain lapse. The more tech-savvy users are, the more likely they are to mess with the HTML of their templates or try out different blogging software.
If content is spread between multiple sites, or if links link to social network posts that link to blog post with a comment that links to a reddit comment that links to a geocities page, any link could break. If content is consolidated in a forum, maybe Archive team could save all of it with some advance notice.
All this could mean that indie games/game design theory/pixel art resources are uniquely lost, and games studies/theory of games criticism/literary criticism applied to games are especially affected by link rot. The semi-professional, semi-hobbyist indie dev, the writer straddling the line between academic and reviewer, they seem the most affected. Artists who start out just doodling and posting their work, who then get hired to work on a game, their posts are deleted. GameFAQs stay online, Steam reviews stay online, but dev logs, forums and blog comment sections are lost.
Or maybe it's only confirmation bias. If I was into restoring old cars, or knitting, or collecting stamps, or any other thing I'd think that particular community is uniquely affected by link rot, and I'd have the bookmarks to prove it.
Figuring this out is important if we want to make predictions about the future of the small web, and about the viability of different efforts to get more people to contribute. We can't figure it out now, because we can't measure the ground truth of web sites that are already gone. Right now, the small web is mostly about the small web, not about stamp collecting or knitting. If we really manage to revitalise the small web, will it be like the small web of today except bigger, the web-1.0 of old, or will certain topics and communities be lost again?

” I don’t care if SHEIN is unethical I’m still buying from there the clothes are cute and cheap😍”
in the next breath:
“Ugh capitalism is so bad climate change is getting worse and nobody cares-
it’s YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU
I’m not saying it’s easy to find brands that are ethical as well as affordable but SHEIN? c’mon now it’s common sense to not buy from them
Yeah the clothes are CHEAP, cheap material and cheap labor gets you your cheap price.
then people try to play the guilt trip like “not every one can afford to not use SHEIN”
so you’re telling me that SHEIN, an online store with SHIPPING COSTS is cheaper than your local thrift store/consignment shop/garage sale literally if you have friends with similar enough fashion taste you can work out a system with them
If you really want cute clothes for affordable prices and you REALLY CARE about climate change and capitalism you would find a way
you literally don’t even have to find it, the path is already there for you Moana
plenty of thrift stores, small businesses, with affordable pricing and QUALITY clothes. Not to mention the YouTube tutorials that could show you how to revamp some of your clothes without a sewing machine.
And consumerism is another thing because buying cute clothes that you never wear contributes to the landfills
TLDR: don’t complain about the economy if climate change if you’re asking for a SHEIN gift card for Christmas😘
Edit: Parents who are working hard so they can buy new clothes for their kids who’ve outgrown their old clothes are limited because you’re filling thrift stores up with things that are going to fall apart in two washes. (thanks vee for this point 🤩)

Ryu ga Gotoku Studios [TGS2022 interview]
A pretty detailed interview just came out (https://www.gamer.ne.jp/news/202209190012/) Some interesting things in here. Here are a few points:
___________________
On why Ishin was chosen for a remake
- There was no other candidate for a remake
- Also Ishin had not yet had an English release and many people had been calling for one
- Wanted to release it in English at some point but now feel the time is right
- The key reason for Ishin Kiwami is literally to bring the game out in English
- Apparently they've completely rebuilt the tutorial systems. No idea what this will mean though
On the change in engine
- Though Ishin Kiwami uses Unreal Engine, RGG Gaiden and RGG 8 will both use the Dragon Engine
- The Dragon Engine works great for night environments in modern day settings, with neon signs and such in the city streets. However, they think Unreal works better for natural light, which suits the setting of Ishin better. This is why Gaiden and 8 will still use DE while Ishin uses Unreal
On the use of Soldier Cards in Ishin Kiwami
- According to Yokoyama, during development on the original game they realised the soldier card system in the Battle Dungeon was a lot more fun than they expected (especially using the special abilities). Because of this they actually wanted to make them usable outside the battle dungeon. However, the game was near completion and to implement the card system outside of the battle dungeon would require massive amounts of rebalancing. Even back when the game was originally made, the team had been saying they would love to bring in the ability to use the soldier cards outside of battle dungeon if they get a chance to redo it someday.
Other Ishin Kiwami bits
- Weapons have been completely re-balanced (though they are vague about this - perhaps this means no more machine gun pistol...)
- There have been no major changes to the story, however there have been a few minor changes. For example, there are some bits which are cut. Other bits have been re-edited slightly
___________________
On RGG Gaiden
- While working on 8 they realised they will need to cover Kiryu's past. They note that a lot of people will have never played the Kiryu era games (because they came into the series with 7). Thus, a lot of players will be controlling Kiryu for the first time. They want to help these players understand Kiryu's past. But rather than doing it through a series of "recollections" (you may remember these from the early games - e.g. interacting with the grave at the start of 2 lets you "remember" the events of 1), with loads of talking, they wanted to make a separate game
- However, they emphasise that you don't NEED to play this game in order to jump into 8 and understand it. This is here for those who want to delve deeper in Kiryu's past (I guess they don't expect the turn-based fans to go back and actually play Kiryu's saga for real? but... then why is this spin-off not turn-based? maybe this is for players too lazy to play them all)
- The game spans from the aftermath of 6 through to the start of 8
- The game is action rather than RPG. In fact, there apparently won't be any RPG-style elements brought in to the game. They felt this was best for telling Kiryu's story
- They say the game will be longer than Kaito files, but shorter than a main entry game (in a different interview I saw, they estimated 10-20 hours)
- Will feature substories (in a different interview, they also mention mini-games)
- The idea behind it is that it is a compact game intended to link with 8
So, basically, in this game Kiryu is dealing with his past and the devs say this is a good opportunity for new plays to learn his story going into 8. In addition, this benefits players who have gone through Kiryu's saga by filling in the gap between 6 and 8
___________________
On RGG8
- Apparently when bringing Kiryu back, it wasn't about his popularity or about the sales figures
- They believe the switch from Kiryu to Ichiban was a huge success and bringing Kiryu back isn't for some kind of popularity battle between the two
- Apparently the reason for Kiryu to be back was simply that they needed him for the overall story
- Battle system will be a much more refined version of the RPG system from 7
___________________
Other:
- After Ishin Kiwami is released, they will be revealing more information about other games

Wasteland 3 was on sale a little while back and I've been wanting to play that since I saw it existed. Most people don't know this game series existed. Those who do, know it from fallout, and probably never touched the games before. Those who know it from fallout know it from old fallout. Back when they was 2d and played like a point and click that threw the simple item puzzles into the sun and decided to dungeon master a dnd game but with guns and robots. Plus, the original game is archaic and has graphics that more resemble a board game than a video game, and the second game came out like 20 years later. I mean I'm all over ancient and archaic games, and I only have managed to ever scrape my way through half of that thing. I even used a guide. I beat zelda nes without pulling a guide out until that teleport maze in the final dungeon.
So anyway, wasteland 3 is now my favorite rpg, and I've been reevaluating a few of my projects because of it. I have a number of games that can be loosely crammed into the definitions of RPG. And I missed something crutial with my party based one: specialization. Now I missed wasteland 2, but my previous favorite rpg was fallout 1. And that game only let you directly control and stat manage one character. You could get companions, but they didn't factor into things the same way. Wasteland, having always been a game where you control a team of post nuclear idealists with government issued integrity, does not let you make a god teir character like in fallout. The third game makes you make a team. This team can and will be more effective than any single player rpg protagonist for a number of reasons, and it is very hard to fuck it up. I love the shit out of how well they get this across. Like, I could go into depth about how wasteland 3's opening bit is one of the best tutorials ever crafted. Rides a real nice balence of understanding what players might expect going into that, making them rethink their approach, and showing off just how fun and rewarding that all can be. Sort of un-hack-and-slashing the rpg system, while also making sure to be as brutal and rediculous as possible.
Funny thing is, I already kind of understood the importance of this kind of specialization when designing concepts for a real-time tactical third person shooter. Trying to lean into the mmo tank, healer, hitter trio that seems so inexcapable. Healers and tanks are tricky, if possible to do in wasteland 3 though, and that's what I think is really facinating. As far as I can tell, you can't do that without fundementally changing how these kinds of games function, but this does it pretty well, at least early on, and I'm trying to work out exactly how? Healers are somewhat negated by the fact that it's hard to play that kind of support role. Meaning every character that would be put in risky situations frequently, has to be capable of healing themselves. Tanks are less viable cause the combat relies a lot on cover and damage mitigation by default, meaning everyone again, kind of has to do all of that themselves. I think what's going on is what happens outside of combat.
Wasteland stats are funny, cause they were a fucking mess in the 80s game. You had to roll the damn characters, then tag a number of skills. And it was not clear what all of them did. And half of them might not actually do anything. Fallout used a similar system, with atributes and skills, but in a much more coherent way. The details of the SPECIAL system has been praised before, just know it used to be significantly more in depth than the nonsense in fallout 3 and onwards. Wasteland 3, and from what I can tell, 2 as well, uses a similar system, this time spelling CLASSIC cause tradition at this point. Comes complete with perks and backgrounds to further customize your rangers with little tweeks like doing more damage in exchange for getting hit for more damage, or getting more action points when you kill an enemy. The long winded point I was getting to is that the vast majority of skills are not combat skills, but exploration skills. Arguably, the only reason combat skills are seperated out so much is to keep everyone using different ammo pools. If you want a good balenced squad, you want one, maybe two combat skills per char, and the rest going into stuff like the speech and trading skills, repair and computers. Maybe some weapons experts or power armor mechanics. Cause these let you avoid fights. Or at least help getting better gear and the jump on things you have to fight.
Game isn't perfect, but it's by far one of the best designed crpg's I've ever touched, and very fun in a lot of ways. Almost makes me actually enjoy math. That's hard to do. I only math when I need to, and it takes all the energy my two brain cells can squeeze out.
And like, drawings here later maybe. I keep not drawing as much as I want to. There's a ton of cool stuff I'd like to show off, but I didn't get around to sketching the mf's out yet. Hopefully I get around to doing that and whoever's here can look at more than my badly structured ramblings.

some ~critical~ thoughts on my exp with pillars so far under the cut for negativity ig
so i gave up on pillars (for now?) and i might pick it up again later but right now, i'm really, really frustrated with it. i'm really stressed out, and frankly, upset. i'm not having a good time playing it, and every attempt to just stick it out is making me MORE frustrated and upset. the "tutorial" barely did anything, i'm still incredibly lost most of the time for combat. and idk, i dont wanna just say the combat system is garbage, but if i've been playing it for a week, and it's still really difficult to navigate or play, i have to wonder at the "mystery" behind it. like why make it so impossible to play the game, why make it so difficult to figure out the combat system, why isn't there an actual tutorial or actual helpful instructions on the system??? i'm playing on EASY because a) new combat system and b) i want to know more about the story but i just keep getting bogged down by all these stupid encounters that KO multiple party members, even when i have the chara ai switched on and everything, and it's really aggravating and upsetting. i explicitly DID NOT sign up for a hard time, so why am i getting a hard time from the game???
it's also not super RSI friendly to me? the amount of clicks i would have to go through just to cast a spell or cast a healing spell is absurd - i have pause, then click the character, strain to click the tiny thing in the corner of their character portrait to pull up their abilities, find the ability, aim it, etc etc. and presumably there's an easier way to do this but - you guessed it! there's no tutorial on how to do it. i had to fucking google how to select my whole party at once because it's not intuitive and i had to manually click each character AND their summons to move them. it made my RSI flare up so badly a few days ago that i couldn't use my arm at all that whole day.
and finally, it's really hard to get into the story for me because it's so, so heavily text-based. there's a lot of dialogue, there's a lot of descriptions around the dialogue - and there's some conversations you can't revisit so you just miss key details. i don't feel like i know anything about the companions, or feel particularly close to them - i don't even really feel all that much interest in my pc - and the amount of text to read per conversation really really bogs me down; there's a lot to read and a lot to process, to the point of it being overwhelming. going into the cyclepedia or whatever doesn't help me, i feel like information is scattered everywhere and there's so much that it's difficult for me to filter it. ive played text-based games before, so i know it's not a problem with the text, but it feels like it's not anchored in anything and it's really difficult for me to process it. i can't remember specific conversations with my companions - only some lines are voiced, and others are not, and there's no way for me to anchor those specific conversations in more memorable lines or anything like that. i remember a few of eder's ambient dialogue, because it's funny or witty or interesting, but i can't recall what the other party members have said or remarked???
and i think that really sums up my experience with this game so far; it's too overwhelming, and it feels like the game really does not want me to play it, it's made for other people and at times it feels like actively hostile to players like me, who are not familiar with the system. idk, i know loads of people enjoy this game, so there's obviously good things about it, but this feels really unwelcoming to my adhd and my RSI, and i'm upset bc i wanted to have a good time playing and i didn't. i bought both games during the autumn sale, and i cannot get through the first one. i feel like i spent so much money on a game i can't even enjoy playing (because i've been trying, thinking it's a scaling issue and maybe after i'm a couple of levels in, this will stop happening. im at level 5, and it's still happening, and i'm STILL lost) and i'm really upset abt it

I've Quietly Quit Fate Grand Order
I started the Halloween Event thinking that I'd be able to finish, but then of course, my brain got distracted—clothing simulation in Blender using genuine sewing patterns, and oh boy how well that works—so well that I actually want to write a tutorial on it—but that's for another time.
The fact that I was that quickly diverted kind of said it all. Somewhere around between the Lostbelt 6 conclusion and this year's Summer Event, I got burned out. Why? I have no idea, but it's probably a combination of factors:
One: Spare time.
Most of my free time is spent in Blender making shit, and that's what I'd rather be doing.
Two: Repetitiveness.
Since I started playing five years ago, the game has gotten too repetitive—particularly in the amount of farming you have to do to level up your Servants.
Three: Gacha+money.
I had a good run of luck (some of it unwanted) over the course of the last two years. Most of that was due to being able to predict within two or three rolls whether or not I'd get the pickup Servant by rolling in the Friends Points gacha, watching for three- or the occasional four-star (namely Artoria Lily—the pity system was introduced before Habetrot was added) Servant. Unfortunately, that changed with the introduction of the pity system.
What's worse—maybe this has always been a thing—but it seems like it's harder to nab a limited-time four-star than it is to get the five-star pickup on the same banner. Recent example: rolled for Zenobia, got Molay instead (didn't really want her but okay). Also, gacha luck for five-star event CEs has and always will suck.
This past summer revealed just how much of a money-sink the game has become for me. I have limited funds now because I have a house and well, shit breaks in a house and you have to fix it. Plus everything, even food, is too fucking expensive at the moment.
Four: Story.
The Lostbelt saga has dragged on for too long, and I've lost my attention span—not that it was really there to begin with. I think the biggest reason why Part Two has dragged is likely because of the pandemic fucking everything up, and then the sale to Lasengle I'm sure slowed things down even more.
The dragging story is a complaint that I've seen made elsewhere, so I'm not really the only person who has made that particular complaint.
My attention span has always been an issue when it comes to long-running series. A case-in-point: series like Ronin Warriors, Cowboy Bebop, Garo: Vanishing Line, or any of the recent Fate series, hold my attention because they're generally shorter than 60 episodes. On the flip-side of that, I was briefly into Inuyasha but then the story started to drag (and then I started college), that I lost interest. When I finally graduated and then found out that the Final Act was out, I watched those those episodes but never bothered to go back and finish the main series.
Anyway, what it comes down to is if I do keep playing, I'll likely only play when the story chapters come out—maybe/unless the event is specific to a story. I think the problem I have with story-related events is that you have to farm to progress the story and that shouldn't be if the event story is integral to the rest of the series.

Goooood morning Survivors -- back at it with my favourite procrastination strategy: making e-books instead of shooting for OF! Love that for me.
Anyhow,
Tier systems and exclusivity marketing have always been at the forefront of my personal approach to my business. My two overarching goals with online SW are to make a lot of money (duh) while also keeping myself and my subscribers happy. For the camgirl migrators who used to live stream and then worked our way over to content creation platforms - I feel like some of our foundational knowledge has been forgotten, and I’m here to remind everyone that the way we used to do things is still a really good approach even on OF.
On M/FC, we focused our energy on premium members, and always offered more attention to tippers than to basics or non-tippers. This helped us focus on where the money was actually coming from, and rewarding tippers with more attention/special treatment plus access to things that others didn’t receive (videos, VIP status, club memberships etc) made tipping look more attractive to non-tippers.
Somehow on OF, practices have shifted - and I argue they’ve shifted in ways that really don’t benefit all of us very well, or very often. I’ve paid for “shout outs” from top creators twice now, and both times it’s involved giving out a number of free trials to my page. Both times I’ve paid over $200 and received a grand total of zero fucking dollars in the end - the free trials were used over 50 times, and NONE of those new “subscribers” paid me a damn dime. The only people benefiting were the seller, who pocketed my $200, and the seller’s subscribers who got free access to my page for a month (and then proceeded to spend absolutely nothing). Maybe this works for others, maybe there are criteria that I need to follow more carefully, bla bla bla - the bottom line is I think this practice mainly circles around from top creator to top creator while providing the buyer themselves - aka me, in this situation - with next to nothing. Now if I sold a “shout out” with a free trial link to someone else and then gave all my subscribers a month of free access to a different creators page, sure, some of them may click it - but they’re also more likely to stick with me for the chance to get free subs elsewhere.
Make sense? Because when it makes sense, it just kind of sucks. For me, I mean. For the other two parties it’s great - but I’m out here trying to make me money first and foremost. The second piece, as per old M/FC knowledge, is I’m trying to make the people who actually support me happy so they continue to do so.
This is where my e-book comes in. I’ve had more than half of my current subscribers for more than a year, with probably a third of that half having been subscribed for two or more years. At current, 125 active subs have spent $1000 or more on my page - and that’s out of just 275 total subscribers at the moment (it’s low bc I broke my fucking wrist and can barely lift a spoon to my mouth without dropping food, let alone shoot sexy content lol).
What I’m getting at here is that I’ve learned how to make people happy enough to stay long term and spend a lot. I do this using exclusivity marketing, which helps me maintain my own boundaries (I only really want a small group of top tier supporters seeing my most explicit content, which helps me keep leaks lower and makes me feel better about what I release) and allows me to charge $100 plus for a single video, because I know the individuals I’m sharing it with are way more likely to purchase expensive stuff. This is personal experience that I feel strongly enough about to sell to you as a tutorial book. As always, I’m never going to offer something for sale that I haven’t personally utilized with strong reward, so the book is a massive source of information not just for newbies but especially for long term creators.
At this point, because of how I’ve set myself up, even if I lost access to every single social media account I own, I know I’d still be able to make a handsome income because I don’t rely on advertising or a constant influx of new subscribers for the bulk of my income. Advertising is always necessary, but if you set yourself up right, it’s not 100% crucial to be doing every single day. As always, I’m sleepy and I have a huge brain so I prefer to work smart, not hard.
Anyhow, thanks for listening to me rant. I really hope the book benefits some of y’all because I think we could all use a bit more of this strategy and a bit less mad scrambling to secure new subs every day. Are you tired? I’m fucking tired. Doing things this way is a little less tiring.

Establishing a Comprehensive After-Sales Service System: Key Measures in the Strobe Light Industry
In the fiercely competitive strobe light industry, establishing a comprehensive and efficient after-sales service system is not only a key measure for enterprises to maintain brand image and win customer trust but also an important guarantee to ensure product performance, prolong product lifecycle, enhance customer satisfaction, and loyalty.
Below, we will delve into how to build a comprehensive after-sales service system including product installation, maintenance, upkeep, and upgrades.
Firstly, product installation service is the starting point of after-sales service. Enterprises should provide a professional technical support team to guide or directly assist customers in the correct installation and debugging of strobe light bar, ensuring optimal performance from the outset.
Additionally, enterprises should create detailed installation manuals and video tutorials for customers' self-installation or reference. For large projects or installations requiring high technical expertise, on-site installation services can be provided, followed by rigorous quality checks and performance testing.
Secondly, maintenance service is the core link of after-sales service. Enterprises should establish a 24/7 customer service hotline to address various issues encountered by customers during usage and promptly respond to fault repair requests.
Establishing a nationwide or even global service network with sufficient spare parts inventory ensures that technical personnel can be dispatched promptly for on-site repairs or replacement of faulty components upon receiving repair notifications. Additionally, regular product knowledge and technical skills training should be provided to the after-sales team to continuously improve service efficiency and quality.
Maintenance service is an important means of extending product lifespan and maintaining performance stability. Enterprises should offer regular inspection and maintenance service plans to conduct periodic checks, cleaning, calibration, and necessary maintenance for customers' led strobe light equipment.
Through preventive maintenance, potential issues can be identified and resolved in advance, reducing downtime caused by equipment failures and lowering customer operational costs.
Upgrade and replacement service accompany technological advancements and changing customer needs, providing continuous vitality for enterprise products. When new technologies or products emerge, enterprises should proactively inform customers of the possibility and benefits of upgrades and provide convenient old product recycling and new product replacement services.
Additionally, continuous free or paid version upgrades for existing product software systems should be conducted to ensure that products remain in sync with market and technological developments.
In addition, enterprises can establish a customer file system to track and record the usage status and historical maintenance records of each strobe light bar, enabling the provision of more personalized services to customers. Regular collection and analysis of customer feedback should also be conducted to continuously optimize after-sales service processes and enhance customer satisfaction.
In summary, building a comprehensive after-sales service system for strobe light requires enterprises to cover various aspects from product installation to maintenance, upkeep, and upgrades, forming a closed-loop service chain.
Only in this way can enterprises enhance their market competitiveness and achieve sustained and stable development while safeguarding customer interests. Throughout this process, enterprises must adhere to a customer-centric service philosophy, increase investment, and improve service levels to win customer trust and market recognition with high-quality and efficient after-sales service.

Developing Robust E-Commerce Website Security to Fight Cyberattacks
The eCommerce business is expanding, and with it are worried about security and privacy. Research indicates that the main digital threat, as perceived by 34% of respondents, is privacy breaches or cyberattacks.
Given that hackers are always looking for ways to circumvent website security and obtain user data, it makes sense.
In addition, the U.S. National Cyber Security Alliance discovered that small internet firms are the target of 62% of all cyberattacks. Thus, to preserve a secure environment for purchasing and selling, eCommerce security policies must be implemented.
We'll look at typical eCommerce security risks in this tutorial and offer advice on how to keep your website safe.
eCommerce Security Principles
ecommerce website security is the process of preventing unwanted access to a company website and any online transactions that take place on it. To become a trustworthy and safe online retailer and earn money without any problems, you must have a strong security base.
When it comes to safeguarding a website from potential security vulnerabilities, there is no one-size-fits-all method—whether you're developing it on an eCommerce platform or a content management system. To reduce security concerns, there are a plethora of industry standards, laws, and solutions at your disposal.
Distinctions Between Compliance and Security in eCommerce
Although they are closely related fields, security and compliance take different tacks when it comes to cyberattacks.
The core of eCommerce security is the ongoing development of strong technical measures to safeguard the resources on your eCommerce website. Compliance, on the other hand, is concerned with restrictions imposed by third parties, such as laws, regulations, and terms of contracts.
Regardless of how brilliant your idea for an online business is, it's critical to keep these guidelines in mind as well. Doing so shows that your company is committed to digital security and meets or exceeds industry standards.
Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard, or PCI DSS. Businesses that handle, store, or transmit cardholder data must follow the security guidelines outlined in the PCI-DSS.
Control of Service Organization (SOC). SOC reports reflect the company's financial and personal information management practices. SOC compliance guarantees that you shield client data from unwanted access.
ISO stands for the International Organization for Standardization. An ISO certification covers several elements of a firm, including product or service quality and safety. One of the standards that outlines the specifications for information security management systems is ISO 27001.
Regulation (General Data Protection) GDPR. The GDPR applies to all dealings with citizens of Europe. Additionally, the legislation safeguards and regulates the collection, use, and sale of customer data from European Union residents.
California Consumer Privacy Act, or CCPA. Californian consumers' rights to secure their personal data are the main emphasis of the CCPA. Thus, make sure you abide by the rules if you promote your popular products to residents of the state.
Best Practices for Securing E-Commerce Websites
For security reasons, internet businesses never want to make headlines. At the very least, adhering to these best practices will significantly lower the likelihood of any security problems.
Make a policy around passwords for your business.
Require complicated passwords with a minimum of eight characters that combine capital and lowercase characters, digits, and symbols. Both customers and staff should be required to do this.
Restrict who has access to sensitive information.
Only those users and systems that truly require access to sensitive data should have it. It's preferable to have fewer access points.
In conclusion,
Maintaining the trust of clients and the viability of e-commerce enterprises depend heavily on security.
They are putting their trust in e-commerce enterprises to handle and secure their personal information by voluntarily providing it.
The onus is on the online store to have strict security measures in place, whether it's a Web Application Firewall (WAF), a Content Delivery Network (CDN), or safeguarding a customer's credit card information.
AHT Tech hopes that this post has made it clearer to you how crucial it is to keep up with eCommerce security procedures in order to ward off potential online dangers.
If you have any queries or need further advice on how to offer an entirely safe eCommerce experience, please leave a comment below.

Discover the Ultimate Guide to Dominate Your Web Hosting Game!
Imagine for a moment that you are going to build a clothing business in your town. Your store's layout has been planned, you have acquired all of the things that you will sell, you have hired personnel, you have completed your branding, and you have purchased your point-of-sale system. Nevertheless, hold on... You have not yet signed a lease for a storefront. Currently, you do not possess a physical location for your store to be located in. What it is like to have a website that does not have a web hosting service is as described here. It is true that your domain and web page files are present, but it is not possible for visitors to locate your website on the internet. In a similar vein, if you do not have the physical space, the clients that shop at your retail business will not have someplace else to go to shop anywhere. Let's make that right; in this tutorial, you will understand why it is essential to choose a web hosting service that not only provides support for your website but also caters to your specific requirements.
Tumblr media
"What is web hosting?
The process of sharing your website on the internet for other people to access is referred to as web hosting. This can be accomplished through the use of a web hosting service or provider, sometimes known as a web host. What causes all of this to take place? Excellent question. Describe the process of web hosting. On web servers, websites are stored and organized. The term "server" refers to powerful computers that are used to store and process data. Web servers are the servers that are responsible for storing the files that comprise websites and processing requests to see these files. The act of a visitor clicking on a link that leads to your website or entering the URL of your website into their browser constitutes a request to establish a connection with your personal web server. Immediately after this request has been granted, the web server will give back the particular web page file that was requested, along with any files that are related to it. This is what causes your website to appear in the browser of the visitor.
In addition to providing a location for your website on the internet, web hosting services often provide a range of support options, security measures, and the advantages of high performance and uptime. Uptime refers to the frequency with which your website is operational; if your website has an uptime of 99.9%, it means that it is accessible 99.9% of the time. There are literally thousands of web hosts available, and the most important thing is to pick the hosting provider that is most suited for your website and your small business. First things first: before we go over some of the most popular services that are now accessible, let's talk about how you should go about selecting one.
"1. You will need to decide which kind of hosting you want for your website.
As the proprietor of a retail business, you will be responsible for selecting the appropriate location to house the infrastructure of your establishment. In a similar vein, in order to properly manage your website for the benefit of your clients and visitors, you will need to select the appropriate web hosting service. This article will take a look at some of the most common hosting alternatives available to small, medium, and big enterprises. A variety of hosting options are available.
Types of Web Hosting
In shared hosting, your website is stored on the same server as a number of other websites already in existence. Consequently, it is the hosting option that costs the least amount of money. Due to the fact that you are sharing the server's resources with dozens or perhaps hundreds of other organizations and individuals, shared hosting is an economical option; however, it is only perfect if your website receives a consistently low amount of traffic.
Shared hosting is less expensive than virtual private server (VPS) hosting, which is appropriate for websites that receive a greater volume of visitors on a regular basis. VPS hosting is a bit more expensive than shared hosting. Although virtual private server hosting is technically still a form of shared hosting, it gives the impression that your website is hosted on a server that is solely dedicated to it. Although virtual private servers (VPS) are more cost-effective than shared hosting, they also provide greater customization options and better performance. As a result, they are frequently the first choice for hosting for small enterprises.
Dedicated server hosting is a more expensive hosting solution that is designed for websites that see high levels of traffic over an extended period of time. Your website will receive its very own server when you use dedicated hosting. In other words, your company has complete authority over all aspects of your server, including its systems, its security, and everything else associated with it. On the other hand, this choice calls for a high level of skill; therefore, you will need workers who are capable of managing your server in an acceptable manner.
The web host will handle your server (including its operation, security, maintenance, and other aspects) so that you do not have to. This is what is meant by the term "managed hosting." Small businesses who do not have or do not wish to recruit a member of their staff who is knowledgeable about the technical aspects of a web server will find this to be an appropriate solution.
Within this category, managed WordPress hosting is a popular choice because the servers that are used for this purpose are specifically optimized to operate WordPress websites.
A more recent development in the realm of web hosting is the concept of cloud hosting. It enables a huge number of different servers to collaboratively function as if they were a single giant server. Web hosting of this kind is an excellent choice for expanding organizations since it allows for the expansion of cloud storage space in tandem with the growth of website traffic and volume. Cloud hosting is often a pay-by-use model because of the way it is set up. This means that you only pay for the quantity of cloud space that you require at any given moment.
"2. Determine the kind of website that you are going to be developing.
Determining the kind of website you want to build is the first step. As a result of doing so, you will be able to more effectively follow the stages involved in this process and reduce the number of hosting service options available to you. When you are publishing a blog, for instance, the kind of website you design will be very different from the kind of website you make when you are selling items.
"3. Consider the characteristics that you would like to see in a web hosting provider.
Once you have determined the type of website you have, the next step is to determine the services that you require from your web hosting service. For instance, if you are the proprietor of a business that is only accessible online, you will need to ensure that your host is capable of supporting e-commerce. If you are a small or medium-sized business that is expanding at a rapid rate, you will need to be sure that your hosting service can scale with you. This will spare you the bother of switching  webhosting providers in the future.
4. Take into consideration the web hosting support that you require.
In order to maintain optimal performance and ensure the safety of the contents, servers, just like our personal computers, require regular maintenance and updates. Think about the amount of effort you are willing to put into maintaining this. You have learnt that different hosting services provide varying degrees of technical support, including security, maintenance, installation, and optimization. Different hosting companies offer these services. In order to choose the best choice for your small business in terms of hosting, you should first evaluate whether or not you have a member of your team who manages your server or whether you intend to employ someone to do so. If not, you might want to think about managed hosting. Also, take into consideration the size of your company as well as the average amount of site traffic that you anticipate receiving. The next question you should ask yourself is, "If there was a problem with our website that couldn't be resolved immediately, would we be at risk of losing customers and destroying any level of trust that we've built up between them and our brand? “By drawing these findings, you will be able to determine the level of assistance that you require from your service provider.
5. The expansion of your website should be taken into consideration.
The question is whether you intend to considerably expand your firm or maintain the same size over the long term. When you scale your business, do you anticipate a significant shift in the traffic that comes to your website, or do you anticipate that the number of visitors and the number of followers will remain the same over time? The responses to these questions, in addition to the nature of your company and the sector in which it operates, can assist you in selecting a hosting service that is suitable for the growth that you anticipate occurring. In the event that you are aware that your company website will be subjected to a substantial amount of traffic, it may be worthwhile to make an investment in a dedicated server. Cloud-based hosting is an option worth considering if your anticipated growth and traffic are subject to some degree of uncertainty but have the ability to undergo significant shifts over the course of time. Additionally, if you are a blogger who wants to share trip adventures with your friends and family, it is highly likely that a shared server will be all that you require in the future.
6. Your web hosting service should have a budget that you set.
Is there a cost associated with site hosting?
