"who's a good puppy? who's the greatest puppy ever? you are! my baby!" you cooed at the shiba.

baal watched from a corner as you continued a pet one of the many shibas. she adored the breed, at some point she did, but this wasn't helping with it. the shiba flopped onto its stomach as you enthusiastically scratched at its tummy and cooed at it.

"my baby boy! i love you so so so so much!"

the archon continued to send silent glares at the puppy as it stood back up. you watched the dog give a happy bark and start to trot off to play with its other friends.

"aww there goes my baby boy…"

"it has other friends to play with, and didn't you pet the other five dogs here as well?" baal asked.

"they do need their fair share of attention… we should take them on walks together soon."

that would be a lot of dogs to manage, which wouldn't really be good for you. six shibas that have bundles of energy together would result in you being pulled around like a ragdoll. who knows what could happen with that. "instead, why don't we just sleep?" baal said.

"now? so early? you don't usually sleep this early though, and neither do i either."

the archon didn't answer as she started to walk away. a knowing look was shown on your face for a split second before following after baal into your guys' shared room. the sky was dark and the candles lit the room as best they could at that time. the moon shown into the window, showing how uncharacteristically it was for the both of you to fall asleep at this hour.

you sat onto the bed and kicked your feet up onto it, baal following you and sitting beside you as well. in a, not really, brave moment, baal laid her head into your lap. "hm? baal?"

no reply… well, alright then.

baal felt the tie in her braid be taken off as you thread your fingers through her hair. it was pleasing sensation and let baal fall to a moment of vulnerability for just a bit. "i love you baal," you cooed.

"i love you as well," baal replied.

"hmm… maybe we should get someone to babysit the dogs more."

"and why do you think that?"

"to spend more time with you of course! maybe they can walk all the shibas in my stead then."

"do as you wish."

the brief sound of shuffling as heard as baal turned around to wrap her arms around your middle. you leaned further against the headboard of the bed as you continued to run your fingers through her purple hair.

the moon slowly started to rise up further into the sky, just as you started to doze off with baal in your lap. just for tonight.
