Atem has let Yuugi know that he will be away for the day and in case something happens he can contact him via phone. He’d shared part of the story with his partner and only with him so far. He hadn’t gotten a chance to let his other friends know yet. But for now, it’s probably better to keep just one person in the know. The others can learn through Yuugi anyway.

This might just be a casual meeting for the pharaoh, although deep down there’s this strange sensation that he doesn’t know what it is. Perhaps light nervousness for what’s to come, the unknown. But that’s normal.

The ex-monarch lifts his gaze in mild surprise when the name ‘Seth’ is voiced. Right, they were supposed to meet eventually. And the second the man comes to view, Atem falls still in his position. Appearance-wise, the man looks like the spitting image of the Seth he once knew. But that is probably about it. Right…? Atem wouldn’t expect something more. Like how things are with Kisara.

“I am Atem,” he decides to respond to the question himself. “Pleased to meet you, Seth.” There's a little smile on his face to hopefully ease some of the tension.

       He’s used to patrol the skies and encounter other monsters on the go. While his primary habitat is the castle he, Mana, and the rest of the magicians reside in, the wizard takes occasional breaks from mentoring the new apprentices. He goes on a flight around the territory at regular intervals to ensure there are no inconveniences happening without him knowing. Perhaps a habit since he used to be main security when he was one of the six Sacred Guardians who served the Pharaoh.

       However, he would never have expected that this ‘inconvenience’ that he will run into will be his problem to deal with. That shiver-inducing roar cause his eyes to grow wide as he becomes alert. The next thing he knows a huge luminous light is going at super speed in his direction. His fight or flight instincts immediately kick in and his first intuition is to dodge the deadly beam of light before he becomes dust particles. His heart rate becomes irregular and he could almost feel the lightning streaks dashing across the tips of his hair. 

       The magician displays his displeasure with a groan and his eyes cast into a smoldering glare. He lifts his staff and with a couple of fluid spinning motions he aims it at the dragon. He is aware his power isn’t enough to defeat it but he could at least do some damage. Magis builds up in the glowing orb at the end of the staff. The first few seconds it’s perfectly aimed at those sharp jaws but he repositions it so his attack is launched at the dragon’s wing instead.

“That’s cool as fuck. What kinda shit’d you do for a living?” Mentions of “old bosses” along with the knife-throwing had him intrigued- the woman didn’t seem the type to hang around the same underworlds he used to, but maybe looks could be deceiving.

“Yeah I got-- Hang on.” He fumbled around searching for which pocket had the answer to her question, finally finding the stiletto in an interior vest pocket. Both a party trick and a knife- he popped the blade out, twirled it a few times between his fingers, then closed it again one handed, ending the routine with a small jazz hands gesture. 

“Ta-da.”

For a moment, Sera couldn’t help but to let her lips curl down into a pout. Riley had a point; there were likely few who would call her out on her ears or her tail, even if they moved on their own, but... But that wasn’t what mattered! How was she supposed to explain them? Or- Or even explain how and why they were there?! How did she tell anyone she’d gotten spooked by the sound of a car horn and it’d caused them to poof into existence again!?

“What... W-What if people a-ask?” The question probably sounded more panicked than it needed to, but in the goddess’s defense, she’d never before thought of showing her ears and tail off to anyone aside from her closest companions. Nobody but her partner had even touched them before - What if nothing went over well? “I’ve never been out w-without my hat like this...”

Never mind she couldn’t hide the tail. That’d slipped her mind completely in her more than pathetic stare Riley’s way!

I don't/won't fully RP with anons since I always like to have rules to read so I can know what the other person is ok with but little things here and there are fun! I wish I got more of them to be honest.

17. fanon interpretations

How much time you got? : ")

The most common fanon interpretation I see of Kaiba is a pervy, abusive, possessive, cocky, and obsessive Christian Gray-like character. Like. Did we even read/watch the same thing yall. I don't get why this take is popular at all (especially when people take it to the point where acting like it would only be natural for someone in Seto's status to assault people and worse) or is some big uber Dom ™ hardcore kink king or something. I just. This man literally never expressed any kind of sexual attraction (unlike Jou and Yugi who watch porn and clearly get all blushy if they see an attractive girl or Anzu who explicitly had a crush on Yami Yugi early on) Kaiba is only shown as caring about dueling, KC, and Mokuba so. Where. Is. This. Fanon. Coming. From. I guess it's just so hawwwwt to the masses that they just?? Shove Kaiba into the Christian Gray-like personality because he just happens to be a rich and young CEO???

The most common fanon I see for Mokuba tends to make him into a uwu soft boi that has infinite patience for anything Seto does and can't do anything without Seto's help. Even though we literally see him get angry, push back against Seto when he doesn't agree (Noah arc and at the end of battle city if not counting filler as canon) and is very very smart. He knows how to use most all of KC's tech, escaped from Pegasus's castle on his own, hacked back into the KC system when Yako took over the building in YGO R, but no I guessh Seto needs to help baby Mokuba with his algebra homeworks oh nooos he doesn't know what to doooo

27. an old muse

I had a AU-based Yugi for a short while over on @pledgedsouls but I didn't really think it all the way through too much. The AU was where in the duel against Aigami the attack Kaiba redirected in dsod did hit Yugi and defeated him and while Kaiba eventually won against Diva because Atem couldn't return temporarily the ring/corrupted Diva wasn't banished just beaten back, so as corrupted Diva used the Cube to flee he dragged Kaiba with him and Yugi is now on a journey to find him and bring him home.

It was neat but led to a lot of threads being reintroductions each time and Yugi trying to make sense of the new dimension he's in and realizing once again, it doesn't contain his Kaiba which got a little repetitive.

It was in the A.I.’s nature to determine which course of action had the highest success rate. In duels, it was instant. There were only so many different ways you could play a hand of cards after all, and it biased towards combos he already knew were the best. Talking to a person had none of that structure. And the cost of failure was being destroyed, if Jounouchi got the idea to smash the Duel Disk’s harddrive.

Why did it have to be Jounouchi, of all people?

‘Wait–or are ya some automated thingy, does my duel disk have a virus that needs to be fried?’

... Maybe this wasn’t so bad after all. That fool handed it an excuse on a silver platter. 

“That’s correct. I am an automated system within your Duel Disk.” Technically, that wasn’t a lie at all. “I have located corrupted files on this device. Plug your Duel Disk into the nearest computer terminal immediately. An update will download automatically.”

Reasonable enough. The Duel Disk whirred as he kept running probabilities.

Set’s gaze fell upon her, he watched the lady as she tried to fix the hairbun on herself. There was a satisfied grin on his face, while he laid on their bed the entire time.

The room was dimly lit, despite that he could still very clearly see Emma’s figure only mere inches away from him. The man waited for her to finish it, before he went ahead and pulled her back onto him, by wrapping his arms around her waist.

It was then, that his lips got into direct contact with her exposed skin. His lips are tender and ever so gentle, a low chuckle could be heard leaving him. “Are you still toying with me, ghost girl?” He asked faintly in a playful manner, as he applied more kisses onto the back of her neck.

“Other me--” he said on instinct.

He then laughs, it seems ironic that after spending so much time moving past Atem’s departure that he takes this so much easier.

“Not quite. I’m not exactly who you’re thinking of. Just passing through... but it’s good to hear your voice. So this is where you moved on to. Are you well?”

“Oh, I know that very well. You’re not fooling anyone here... Okay, you almost got me upon first glance from the distance.” Atem promptly responded, his words might have come off harsh but the tone used was a cheerful- friendly one. The pharaoh even had a grin on his face, which was a starkly contrast from Mahad- who stood by in an evident protective manner.

“I know my partner would never be able to make it to this realm... That’s impossible for him, in any sense of the word. So, consider me intrigued and curious. Do you mind staying for a talk? I only wish to understand, what’s happening around here...” Atem maintained the same tone in his voice, it didn’t seem like there was anger or anything like that with him.

“I’m sensing a disturbance in the air... And you seem to be the source of it.”

A sigh left his lips, even though Playmaker tried to keep any and all emotions out of his face. Hero of Link VRAINS. It was what he never had wanted to become, honestly. People just made him a hero because he had been saving link vrains along the way while honestly... it just had been his own need for revenge he’d been running after the whole time... 

But soon enough the smirk from her face disappeared and Playmaker allowed himself to relax slightly, the tiniest bit at least until she spoke up again. Someone or something. Was it that obvious why he was around? At this point he tended to say yes himself. After all...he never had logged in for another reason, had he? 

For a moment he had to think of that empty flat of his. Of the lifeless form of Robobbi. The fact that Ai wasn’t around any longer to watch those silly soap operas. His partner had been gone ever since they had won against Bohman. Part of him had known that their team up had been temporary but still... 

On the other side he didn’t trust the other one enough to admit he was looking for his runaway Ignis. The other one had connections to SOL technologies after all and... no that were information that no one needed to know about. Not at all. 

“What makes you think I’m here for some kind of search?” he replied in the end, choice of words careful, because he didn’t even want to give her any hints about what or who he was looking for. “Aren’t you busy with your job though? Can’t a teenager just spend some time online?” 

A stupid question honestly, Playmaker knew that himself. But what else had he been supposed to say at that point?

       After getting in the same space as Seth, Atem steps over in close proximity but at a fair distance. He doesn’t get to be with Seth as much in comparison to how often he hangs out with Mana and Mahad. The prince wonders what way he could strike up a conversation. Though, it seems Seth beats him to it. But not in the way Atem was thinking. Part of Atem doesn’t want Seth to just see him as a prince but more so as a friend.

       “Ah, no. I came to say despite that I wanted to spar with you I appreciate you taking in consieration whether it would be allowed. I wondered if you wanted to join me in my archery session next time? If you’re not busy.” That’s probably the closest way of him saying that he wants to spend time together.

I suppose that must seem like an odd thing to say, doesn’t it? Especially coming out of the blue... But I’ve found writing things down is often easier than saying things out loud, so that’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to write down everything I never know how to tell you when you’re around, and ask Riley to pass this along to you. I hope it reaches you in one piece and isn’t lost before then, like I’d probably do if I’m not careful-

The gods work in mysterious ways, we all know, so maybe this was supposed to happen for a reason? I know having you around is comforting, and a time always full of smiles. You and Riley have been the first actual friends I’ve ever made outside of Zack and my shrine... You’ve had no reason to be involved in my problems, but you’re still here, always curious and never pressing. I never know how to tell you how much I appreciate you, so let me do so here? A letter for Hermit, passed their way through Riley and marked safe for Riley to read after Hermit does first. Sera is eternally thankful for them both, but never knows how to say so aloud - She can barely make out a figure when it comes to looking at Hermit and worries about her wording, resulting in her tripping over it and never really getting out what she wants to say in the first place. Notes and journals are infinitely easier, and on a night she can’t rest, to her notebook she goes to scribble down her appreciation for a friend who doesn’t have to be there, but wants to be regardless. <3
