In my writing I want to achieve one goal and one goal only: for the amount of polyamorous, gay gay and overall queer vibe to match whatever is going on in the pirates of the Caribbean film series

It's always first Disney gay this, first lesbian Disney kiss that, I want what those two cursed skeleton guys from the old Pirates of the Caribbean movies had.

One of best things about pirates of the caribbean is elizabeth's backstory.
Like, usually the heroine escapes her life because of abusive or violent patents (eg. the evil stepmother), an unwanted marriage or some sort of oppression she was suffering. But for elizabeth it's not this case. She chooses to be a pirate because that's what she wanted. It's not a lesser evil for her, the least bad one out of the only two options. She lusts for freedom and she takes it.
Apart from her mother's death, she has a great life before the movies. Her father is supporting and, considering their century, very open-minded. He let her do whatever she wishes to. And when she makes it clear that she doesn't want to marry james, the governor doesn't hold her back or force on her a fate she doesn't like. He let her choose her life by herself, which is surprising even for today standards.
She ends up having a bitter ending, but she had it her own way. Everything that lead it to her was her own decisions, no one else's. And being a disney's female character, it's quite unexpected for her to so independent of her past in order to build her own future.
