Prepare your home appliances, such as TVs, air conditioners, geysers, refrigerators, washing machines, kitchen chimneys, etc., for disassembly and packaging. Collect all important documents and keep them in your personal luggage so as not to lose them during the relocation process. Before you move to a new home, please make sure that you have updated your address in all law firms (such as offices, post offices, banks, etc.) to ensure that you do not miss an email. Disconnect or transfer commercial connections such as water, gas, and electricity to your new address. After packing your goods, you may need emergency materials in a bag. Pack away valuables, such as jewelry, important documents and necessary items, such as children's items, clothes, toiletries, etc. that you may need after the relocation, and put them aside. PAST
It all begun in the small town of Delight, Arkansas. Despite the name, there was little to no stray away from the southern stereotype of a small town. Racism, homophobia, and classicism were seen as formalities. The Atkins family was no different. The family had lived in the town for generations. The Atkins had a beautiful son with a wit that matched no other. It wasn’t until a simmering summer evening that their family was turned around. A dark-haired little girl came into their lives. Kathryn Marie Atkins was the child people wished for the first time around. Her mother immediately left her part time work at the local inn to take care of her daughter. This break soon turned into a career. She paved the child’s way before she was even able to walk. Kathryn was to become a doctor at the hospital in the next town over. She would attend a nearby university, so she would never have an excuse to back out of family events. A lover of God and extremely well read, the brunette would remain seated on the front row of service each Sunday. With no real room to pry away, Kathryn did as she was told. She tried to form herself into a golden child and prove she was better than her younger brother. She could never live up to the standards that her brother did. As the years went on, Kathryn began to diverge from the path her parents slaved for. She pushed herself to pursue her passion in theater. One of her dreams was to make a career in the film industry. The lust for something bigger than herself drove her to do anything to escape the town she was in.The only thing that seemed to get anyone out of the town after high school was college or marrying off.
Kathryn wasn’t keen on either, but the college applications seemed to pile on her desk with each growing day. Exhausted from the peering looks from her mother and the aggravated tone of her father’s as his greasy hands clenched on his fifth beer, Kathryn gave in. After applying around to different universities, the brunette merely waited on her decision. She was never necessarily passionate about school, despite her academic achievements. The ringing leader was NYU. She decided to take a trip, staying with her brother as he showed her around the campus. It was almost too good to be true - - - away from their soul eating parents, living on their own, and creating a new life for themselves. She accepted the offer.
When Kathryn returned home, she hung around town with her best friend, Roy. On a drunken adventure, they went on private property near the edge of town. A farmer shot Roy without any warning. No trial was held and the action was declared as self defense. Kat wanted nothing to do with the toxicity of her family and hushed rumors around town. As the summer drew to a close, Kat settled into an undergraduate degree of pre-med biology. Her first year at university felt like a hiccup. She finally settled into what her parents wanted, but none of it felt right. In a skew of finding herself, she went out on a limb. Her first job in college was nude photography. It lined her up for other opportunities aside from a wannabe SoHo magazine. The photography was just side money at first, fishing out bags of xans and liquor. It wasn’t until her second semester at NYU that she dropped off the grid completely. She cut off all contact from her parents and anyone back home.
Her photography progressed into a career in adult film. It fulfilled the checklist in her life: acting, fame, and money. She bounced between traveling around the nation and keeping up with contract jobs in porn. From Los Angeles to New York City, Kat got a taste of what it was like to feel herself. She soon became a pillar in the adult community – striking a name recognizable almost anywhere. At least, if you knew what was good for you. With success, the actress fell into her own demons. It started in her freshman year of college, binging whatever substance that was given to her towards hanging around wealthy club owners. She fucked, snorted, and drank her weight almost daily. What appeared at first innocent fun sprouted a full on addiction. She became a punchline. Producers began to catch on. The company she signed under noticed. They threatened to rip her contract up once her second DUI was placed on their desk.
Before the #MeToo movement, the adult film industry generally swept everything under the rug. Once Kat approached the company with an assault complaint against one of her directors, they were quick to cut ties with her. She was dropped from the company and much of her contracts were burned. After exiting court ordered rehab, the brunette made ground to recover a tainted reputation. At first, casting directors merely laughed in her face when she tried to get hired for roles. Her filmography was less than desired for a Hollywood executive.
PRESENT
In tune with picking up her reputation, she tried to force herself to grow up. She was growing close to her mid-thirties and made no progressions to her Lothario personality. Instead of waiting for the right one, she decided to take hormonal shots. After attempting for nearly two years, the positive sign that everyone hoped for appeared. In tune with good news, allegations were set against her former director. A lawsuit was rolling once the #MeToo movement rolled into the larger picture. Though Kat didn’t file a lawsuit, she was offered her job back at the company. Despite the recommendation from her friends, she took the offer while asking for a larger role in the company. She didn’t want to just be an actress, but a director as well. With her near decade of experience in the industry, it was an offer they couldn’t refuse.
Allegations against her director appeared shortly after Kathryn accepted a role for an independent horror film. While the film was in post-production, she spent the majority of her pregnancy balancing between her social life and directing. She celebrated her pregnancy with a near strike of three years of sobriety. Though her love life was tangled, she was finally happy. Things were going in a good direction for once. In April 23rd 2018, Jonah Atkins was born. It should have been a happy moment, if the child looked like the donor she chose. Instead, it looked like her best friend’s child. Kat goes between custody with her baby daddy while on maternity leave from her company.

Congratulations Alexandra you’ve been accepted to Crimson Revolt as Septima Vector!
↳ please refer to our character checklist
A harder, more closed off character, is often hard to portray. Especially when it comes to their emotions and drives. But you did a fantastic job at letting us into Septima’s head, and exploring the reasons why she might find it easier to dwell on logics than emotion. Her pull between the Order and Aversio (alongside her beliefs on prejudice in the wizarding world) were fascinating, and we can’t wait to see you explore her character further as the war progresses and there’s more at stake! Welcome to the rp!
application beneath the cut
OUT OF CHARACTER
INTRODUCTION
Hello, my name is Alexandra, lovely to meet you! I’m 20 years old, my preferred pronouns are she/her/her’s and I’m in the EST time zone. I live in the United States, specifically on the east coast.
ACTIVITY
So, this next two weeks are a little crazy, I’m a university student who has finals this week, but I’m an A+ procrastinator, which is why I’m applying to this. Since you accept on Sunday’s, this will not be an issue. After that, I have off for a month, so my activity levels will probably be between 9 and 10, except for certain holidays.
When I arrive back at school in mid-January, my activity will probably fall between a 7-9, depending on the day. I am fortunate that my schedule is not too hectic next semester, so I will be on more frequently.

HOW DID YOU FIND US?
I was just going around on Tumblr, looking for an RP to join and this one was intriguing. Not to judge a book by it’s cover, but your Main RP Blog was well put together and had a streamlined, clean look that I enjoyed.
WHAT HARRY POTTER CHARACTER DO YOU IDENTIFY WITH MOST?
This is a great question and one that took me a while to think over, but the character I identify most with is Percy Weasley. He’s an “unloved” character, for sure. But, I think he really strove to be the perfect model of a son, with a good job, tried to make his parents proud, etc. I’ve been a Slytherin my entire life, so his ambition is not lost on me. He was kind of quirky, a little pompous, and definitely mature for his age – some of the traits that I definitely reflected in my childhood when first reading the books.
ANYTHING ELSE?
I really like the structure that this RP presents, but the one question I have is, how active are the people in this roleplay?
IN CHARACTER
DESIRED CHARACTER

REASON FOR CHOSEN CHARACTER
I love the depth of Septima. I love that she’s able to just kind of push down her feelings and move on with her life. I always find myself attracted to these types of characters in books, film, etc. because they have the potential to be so much more than their outside appearance portrays. I know it says specifically that Septima has never had to deal with loss. But maybe she has, maybe she lost a housemate at Hogwarts, maybe someone a year older or younger than her, someone she admired or helped during her time in school. She tries to force it down, tries to bury her emotions deeper, because she must help the cause. But, feelings don’t just disappear, there is no spell for feelings or emotions, they all come up eventually. Maybe she has PTSD, she wakes up in the middle of the night and her cheeks are wet from tears or she feel like she can’t breathe because the radiator in whatever hotel room she’s staying at sounds too much like rubble falling in one of the battles she’s faced. That’s why she has to help, whether she’s destructive or not, because just as much as she’s helping the Wizarding World, she’s helping herself get better. Or at least that’s what she believes the resolution of this war will bring.
Septima is the type of character that I can breathe life in to by providing that depth, that inner layer that can be explored in this RP. I think she’s make a good addition as a character to the diverse cast you already have in this RP and it would be an honor to play her.
PREFERRED SHIPS // CHARACTER SEXUALITY // GENDER & PRONOUNS
Septima is decidedly bisexual, but it takes a lot to really get into that thick shell of her’s. She’s definitely rigid when you first meet her, wondering if there’s really any fun in her at all. The answer is yes, it just takes a lot to get that out of her, usually some Firewhiskey is helpful. She’s more so just open to the fact that someone is trying to make an effort to get to know her. She identifies as a female and her pronouns are she/her/hers.
CREATE ONE (OR MORE!) OF THE FOLLOWING FOR YOUR CHARACTER:
-A MOODBOARD: x
-AN AESTHETIC: x
-A PLAYLIST: x
-A FEW HEADCANONS
           - Septima honestly tries to be nice, it’s just….not in her nature. Most days she’s in a bad mood before she’s had her tea, Daily Prophet in hand before composing herself into working order, dealing with problems one at a time, a notebook in hand, quill tucked behind her ear in an odd display of Ravenclaw-based problem solving. She works like a factory line, mechanical, and not having time for trivial problems like other people’s feelings.
           - Secretly worried about her spot in the Order, she wonders if people will judge her, knowing that her father was a proud Slytherin during his time at Hogwarts. She’s done nothing wrong, in fact, she’s kept several secrets for the Order that she would take to her grave. But she often wonders if wizard prejudice occurs on both sides of the fight?
           - Wants to be on the front lines. She’s usually behind the scenes, logistics, battle strategies on how to take the Dark Lord and his followers down, but she also wants to be a part of the action – even if that means risking her life.
           - Open about her sexuality, but just to herself. If someone else mentions something, she’s not afraid to shut them down. This applies for both sexes. When she’s working, especially when discussing things for Aversio and the Order, she doesn’t like to think about emotions, especially her own. This often runs over into her personal life.
           - Septima is actually super extraverted, but all those emotions are thrust down, so she kind of shuts down when another talks about anything super personal.
-A FEW POTENTIAL PLOT POINTS
           - Septima constantly struggling between doing the just thing and doing the right thing, they don’t always go hand in hand.
           - Septima’s constant pull between being faithful to the Order and being faithful to Aversio.
           - Her need, desire, want, etc. to fade into the background to actually get work done. Sometimes her actions can come across as borderline sinister and she can be downright mean. At the same time, her struggle to be out on the front lines with other, braver wizards.
IN CHARACTER QUESTIONNAIRE
The following section should be looked at like a survey for your character. Answer them in character and feel free to use gifs. Or, if you’d rather, answer them in third person or OOC without gifs. Answers do not have to be extremely lengthy.
♔ If you were able to invent one spell, potion, or charm, what would it do, what would you use it for or how would you use it? Feel free to name it:
I would invent a potion, temporary of course, just to rid the body of emotions for about thirty minutes. That’s all I need, that’s all anyone needs. If it acted as a way to just shut down the emotions of the body and allow for complete focus for a moment’s notice, then maybe we’d all be able to get more done. That being said, it would be an extremely dangerous potion and should only be used when absolutely necessary. I’d call it Afectos Potion, specifically utilizing the Latin root-word for “to affect”.
♔ You have to venture deep into the Forbidden Forest one night. Pick one other character and one object (muggle or magical), besides your wand, that you’d want with you:
I’d definitely take Davey Gudgeon with me! I’ve known him for awhile now, he’s an excellent wand caster, and although he can be a bit illogical, I can definitely use him for help with spell work, if need be. He’s a lot quicker on his feet than I am. And as for an object, I’d take just a ordinary, muggle mirror. I’d enchant it with a hover charm to keep it in my peripheral vision at all time, that way nothing can sneak up on me. I don’t trust the forest in the daylight, let alone during the night.
♔ What kinds of decisions are the most difficult for you to make?
Decisions when others are involved. Especially if it’s deciding between logic and what is morally right. It’s definitely a fine line between the two and one that isn’t always easily discernable from each other. That being said, when they align together and I am able to decide that the morally right thing is logical, it works out. Other times, when they do not work well together, I can spend hours pondering the idea.
♔ What is one thing you would never want said about you?
One thing that I would never want to be said about me is that I don’t care. I care to the extent that I cannot say, however, I tend not to show it. Members of the Order and their well-being is one of my topmost priorities, even if I cannot convey that to them through conversation. I don’t know how I would react if anything happened to them. Their my friends, I care about them deeply.
WRITING SAMPLE
A long, blue cloak swept across the ground as Septima entered into the small pub. It was nearing midnight, but it was still a lively place where muggles sat, chatting comfortably, a tinny voice coming through some kind of muggle contraption in the back corner. Cigarettes smoke wafted through the air as she stepped, hood lowering, as she looked towards the bar. The bartender there jerked his head in the direction of a set of ordinary bathroom, the men’s out of order. She walked quickly across the floor, pointed shoes darting out from beneath the navy cloak and as she passed table by table, the noise and conversation ceased.
She wondered if they had stopped their talking for every patron who had walked in here this evening, she could not be the only person who had walked in tonight wearing wizarding garb, she was running late as is, the meeting must have started without her. But why were so many people making such a big deal about her? She knew the cloak must have looked outdated, but she had seen worse things worn by some of the muggles in public. There were plenty of more interesting things to gawk at.
“Merlin’s beard, Septima!” She heard as she pushed back the men’s doorway, only to reveal another room, one with a long table where several witches and wizards were sitting, “You’re really going to wear a formal cloak in this pub?”
“Yeah,” Septima responded, hanging up the damned thing on a peg by the doorway, “I just got done work at the bookshop, didn’t even have time to go home and change.” She gestured down to the midnight blue robes before setting herself down at an empty chair. The rest were chatting away or grabbing Butterbeers from a corner across the room. Around her, jumpers and jeans could be found. She certainly was overdressed for the occasion. But none of that mattered, muggle clothing or not, they all knew what they were really here for.
“Seeing as we’re mostly all here. Shall we begin?” Septima procured a small notebook and quill from the bag hanging around her waist and watched as the fellow members of Aversio around the table followed suit, “This week, I have a lot to report.”
She took a deep breath, dipping the quill into her inkwell. As long as she was productive, nothing could get in her way.

For openers, Dodgers expose Nats’ issues in back of their rotation with 9-3 rout
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Creativity was only rewarded for so long Saturday, owning a single second, then a further, then giving way to what tripped the Washington Nationals into their first 3-activity dropping streak since mid-May well.
They nonetheless really don’t have a fifth starter, apparent in a lot of methods towards the Los Angeles Dodgers, finally leading to a 9-3 defeat at Nationals Park. Washington made use of an opener, opting for reliever Matt Grace for the first two innings, and that worked. But Joe Ross adopted, gave up 7 operates on nine hits in 4 2/3 innings, and left his crew, now 55-49, teetering off the leading of the National League wild card standings.
“The 1st part of the prepare was really good,” Supervisor Dave Martinez stated, incorporating that Grace advised him he was completed immediately after 26 pitches. “I want I could’ve despatched Gracie out a couple extra innings. He did his work. He was actually, actually great.”
The offense also could not resolve Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw following scoring 2 times in the initially. Washington managed just five hits and was buried by the Dodgers’ 4-run seventh. And so the afternoon ended with the Nationals facing a acquainted query, still yet again, as they hope to prevent having swept at property Sunday: What must they do about the last spot in their rotation?
The hottest endeavor to respond to that began with Grace, oddly ample, because he’d produced just one start out in his 5-yr profession. The lefty threw 4⅓ scoreless innings in put of Max Scherzer in August 2017, making it possible for just two hits, emptying his whole tank ahead of rejoining the bullpen a working day afterwards. Martinez chewed really hard on building Grace his opener versus the defending NL champs, and determined Friday night that the timing was suitable.
“If which is a thing approach-smart that they see is a great prospect, I’ll acquire the ball when they want to give it to me,” Grace stated of opening in the potential, a thing Martinez didn’t dedicate to or rule out. “It does not seriously make a difference to me when they want to use me.”
The opener has caught on all around baseball in the past couple of seasons. The system, at its core, is to get started the game with a reliever, see how quite a few outs he can get, then hand the ball to an unproven starter in the 3rd or fourth inning. That starter, in transform, will make one particular less vacation as a result of the best of an opposing buy. If the opener can make favorable matchups — like Grace did towards the Dodgers’ lefty-hefty lineup — that’s an extra reward.
And the Nationals’ adoption of the opener, if only for a activity, underscored a deficiency and progress: their skinny rotation depth, and their willingness to innovate. Ross is portion of a rotating cast of fifth starter choices, alongside with Austin Voth (on the wounded checklist with biceps and shoulder tendinitis), Erick Fedde (with the Class AA Harrisburg Senators) and Kyle McGowin (with the Class AAA Fresno Grizzlies). They have been examined, and auditioned, because Scherzer’s stint on the injured checklist right after the all-star break.
None of them have stood out, even marginally, even if General Manager Mike Rizzo insists that a fifth starter is not necessary heading into Wednesday’s trade deadline.
“I like the depth that we have,” Rizzo said previously this thirty day period when questioned if the Nationals would pad the back of their rotation. “We received our significant four fellas, and we’re fully pleased with our fifth starter place.”
This was always an iffy combination in opposition to 1 of the league’s ideal offenses. Grace, with his 6.23 Era as a reliever, warmed up in the bullpen as 1st pitch neared. Ross, with just a person main league start this season, very long-tossed in the outfield. Grace held up his conclude, retiring all 6 hitters he confronted on 26 pitches, sprucing off the next with back again-to-back strikeouts of Max Muncy and Corey Seager. Ross could not say the exact.
The Nationals experienced sprung ahead from Kershaw, plating two brief runs in the prime of the initial. But the scoreboard evened once Ross took the mound, and then it flipped in Los Angeles’s favor, and the Dodgers pulled away as the stadium emptied out.
Ross’s 3rd pitch led to a homer for Will Smith, who completed with 3 hits and 6 RBI. He gave up three additional runs in his 2nd inning. The Dodgers then upped the deficit in the sixth, with three consecutive two-out hits off Ross, and his day finished in the seventh right after yielding an RBI solitary to MVP applicant Cody Bellinger. That was it after 86 pitches. A tricky thud.
“Just leaving the ball up in the zone,” Ross mentioned of what damage him in the outing. “I felt fantastic bodily but just leaving the ball over the plate, up in the zone, and they designed me pay out for it.”
Across the previous two months, although the Nationals ended up on their time-preserving tear, it was doable to neglect their remaining flaws. But a excellent group like the Dodgers has a way of reminding a different club of what it lacks. Washington didn’t have a sound commencing pitcher Saturday — for the very first inning, or the 3rd, or any place of the video game — and the end result supplied a mirror to search through.

2016-17 Hawkwatcher’s Notebook
Massachusetts offers year-round intrigue for the hawkwatcher.  The end of 2016 and beginning of 2017 offered several unique stories in my travels around the state in pursuit of raptors.
September 24th, 2016 - Goshawk on the Mountain!
On one of the final days of the Mount Watatic Hawkwatch this season, a small group of us caught a glimpse of the rarest of breeding Massachusetts hawks, the Northern Goshawk.  Tom Pirro first identified the large accipiter off the north side of Watatic’s summit.  In terms of shape, the bird had a long, broad tail and tapered wings.  A closer look revealed a pale, streaked breast, brown topside and bright-white eyebrow - all excellent field marks for a juvenile goshawk.  In almost 200 hours at Watatic the last 2 seasons, this was my first encounter with one of these secretive raptors. Despite it being a local bird (non-migrant) - the sighting was truly a thrill to remember.
Tumblr media
November 5th, 2016 - State FOY Rough-legged Hawk
I was in one of my ‘happy places’ - the North Pool Overlook at Parker River NWR, when I spotted a distant hawk in a true hover over the marsh.  Not the buoyant, momentary mid-air hesitation of a Harrier, or the effortless kite of a Red-tail, and certainly not the rapid flicker of Kestrel wings.  The wind was carrying the bird away from me, so I jumped in the car to try and get underneath it.  Moments later, I found myself looking up at a pale-headed buteo with dark carpal patches.  True excitement - it was indeed a Rough-legged Hawk (light morph) and my first of the year!  According to records, it was also the first sighting in the entire state in the winter of 2016-17.  What an honor to welcome this spectacular species back to our region for the season.
Tumblr media
March 4th, 2017 - Uncovering a Great Gray Owl in Massachusetts
In late February/early March of 2017, it was apparent that an irruption of Great Gray Owls was taking place in New England, with multiple birds sighted in Maine, New Hampshire and even upstate New York.  On the first weekend of March, I joined dozens of birders in Newport, NH to pick up my lifer GGOW.  The following day, I was birding in Western MA and browsing the Hampshire county eBird summary page on my mobile phone, looking for recent raptor sightings. I instinctively tapped on a checklist of a nearby Barred Owl sighting with a photograph from the previous week.  To my shock - the photo depicted not a Barred Owl, but a different Strix altogether.  A massive facial disc and two bright yellow eyes - surely the image showed a Great Gray Owl!  The eBird report, from just outside Williamsburg, MA, was already a week and a half old, but I immediately reached out to the Western Mass Birders online group for backup.  Within hours, we were able to confirm with the original spotter that it was indeed a case of mistaken identity!  Unfortunately, efforts to relocate the bird failed, so I never saw this owl in person.  The happy ending though, if the sighting is accepted by the state records committee, is that this would be the first Great Gray Owl in Massachusetts in over 20 years!  Had I not stumbled across that checklist, perhaps this rare sighting would’ve been lost altogether.
Tumblr media
April 23rd, 2017 - Spring migrant surprise: Short-eared Owl
As a weekend-only hawkwatcher in spring, I have to take what opportunities I can get.  Weather conditions don’t always cooperate, and that Sunday was a prime example.  A small group of us saw just 17 migrants that morning - but a most unexpected one was a Short-eared Owl!  The bird first appeared around 11:30am in the marsh west of the platform, initially flying low in the “heat shimmer”.  It became apparent that the flight style - deep, floppy wingbeats - were slightly different than the Harriers we had seen all month.  And sure enough, the owl gave us a long look and plenty of opportunities to identify its bright, buffy primary patches above the wing, and dark carpal marks below.  This sighting ended up being one of the latest in the state for the spring of 2017, and the first at the PI Hawkwatch in at least 10 years.  Outstanding!

TOP 15 POP PUNK BANDS
So a few days ago I was scrolling through my instagram feed and I saw a post linking to an article of the “Top 25 Pop Punk Bands of All Time”.  Since I consider myself a connoisseur of the genre I couldn’t help but to take a glance at it, and afterwards I couldn’t help but to be completely disgusted by some of the entries, and the lack of others.  This prompted me to do my own list, which I guarantee is much more accurate to the genre. The link to the other list is below.

To their credit they did include some lesser known, newer bands like Tacocat and Cayetana, the ladder Philly band I admittedly had never heard of before I read the list.  They also included bands like Modern Baseball, which was nice they included another Philly band, but I would really categorize them more as an indie rock/emo band.
When I think of pop punk I’m thinking about Ramones influenced, Lookout Records sounding, catchy, energetic bubblegum pop.  I’m not even going to start drifting into the more guitar technical, emo-ish sounding bands like Saves The Day, Brand New or Taking Back Sunday.  This is a totally different brand of pop punk, much more pop than punk.  Anyways here is my list, enjoy!
15) GROOVIE GHOOLIES - Definitely not horror punk, but Groovie Ghoolies played lots of songs about vampires and other creepy things, but sung in a very fun and energetic way.  Super simple songs on the surface but Kepi Ghoolie has some sort of charm that makes you keep listening.  Kepi is still playing and releasing music as a solo artist.
14)  PANSY DIVISION - Pansy Division is another Lookout Records gem.  “Wish I’d Taken Pictures” was my first and favorite album from these guys. They were notably the first openly gay punk band, at least so openly and brazingly.  Their songs are super fun and at times hilarious!
13)  TILT - Tilt is an amazing band with amazing lyrics.  They got their start on Lookout Records, but their quintessential release, “Viewers Like You” was put out on Fat Wreck Chords.  I never got to see Tilt live and I’m envious of all you folks on the west coast that were able to see their reunion shows.  Crossing my fingers for another chance.
12)  FACE TO FACE - I’ve heard differing opinions on Face to Face and how to categorize them, but for me they hit everything on the pop punk checklist.  Their self titled album released in 1996 produced many unforgettable punk rock sing-alongs. I think the self titled album was their greatest work and later stuff would never really reach the same heights.
11)  THE VINDICTIVES - A very obnoxiously satisfying pop punk band from Chicago, in the same  vein as Screeching Weasel and The Pink Lincolns.  “Hypno Punko” is one of my favorite punk albums of all time, try and listen to the whole album from start to finish, you’ll know what I mean once you start!
10)  MXPX - When I first heard MXPX years ago I thought they sucked.  I had the first “Punk Uprisings” compilation put out by Lookout Records in 1996. “Punk Rawk Show” was featured on the compilation.  I thought it was lame, way too poppy for me, and they spelled rock with an “a” and a “w”, “rawk”, what a bunch of dorks!  But every time I played that comp I started to get a serious crush on that song until I finally admitted I liked it.  Then I bought “Life in General” and I was completely hooked.  Next thing you know my teenage punk band was covering “Chick Magnet”.
9)  THE QUEERS - The Queers were an early to mid-nineties must in your pop punk catalog.   For me and for many other pop punk fans, Screeching Weasel and The Queers were introduced at the same time.  The Queers wrote such pop punk classics as “Punk Rock Girls”, “Fuck This World”, “Can’t Stop Farting”, and “Noodlebrain”.
8) THE MUFFS - I did a little research before I made my list to see if I had forgotten anybody.  The Muffs were that band, I had listened to them a little bit back in the day, and I knew they got a lot of praise from my other favorite bands from the mid to late nineties.  After I went back and listened to them I forgot how awesome they were, and was surprised that they didn’t become a bigger band over time.  I definitely recommend giving them a listen.
7)  DILLINGER 4 - I was a little bit late to the party when I started listening to this midwest punk band.  Once I got into them I realized how many bands were influenced by them.  Dillinger 4 definitely makes it on my pop punk mixes, super energetic, melodic and abrasive all at the same time.
6) THE LILLINGTONS - “Death by Television” is one of the greatest pop punk albums of all time.  I saw the Lillingtons with Moral Crux back in Johnson City, NY circa 99′.  I used to help SubCulture, the local punk record shop, sell records during shows at the Johnson City skate park.  I actually didn’t help sell records, I just tagged along and got to go to shows for free.  “I Need Some Brain Damage” was stuck in my head for weeks.
5)  GREEN DAY - Early Green Day was the best!  Green Day released three incredible albums in a row, starting with “1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours”, “Kerplunk” (first two on Lookout Records) and followed by their major label debut, all time classic “Dookie”.
4)  SCREECHING WEASEL - Whether you love Ben Weasel or hate him (if you have an opinion, you probably hate him) Screeching Weasel is one of the most influential and prolific pop punk bands.  They were heavily influenced by The Ramones but were able to create their own defined sound.  Screeching Weasel would spawn many copycat bands, singing cheesy boy meets girl, teenage crush three chord punk rock songs.  In actuality Screeching Weasel’s lyrics at times were a bit more astute and would at times go off into political and social commentary and existential topics.  Albums “Wiggle”, and “Anthem For A New Tomorrow” are considered some of their best works.
3) CRIMPSHRINE - If you are familiar with Crimprshrine then you will probably not have any argument with the fact that they are on this list.  If you have never heard of them before and you listen to them for the first time, it may not sound that groundbreaking or special to you.  That’s because the sound is so familiar, and the recordings are really raw and unrefined.  The fact is that Crimpshrine was one of the first bands to encapsulate that early East Bay pop punk sound that many bands emulate.  The band included members of soon to be East Bay greats Operation Ivy and Fifteen.  Also Ben Weasel specifically gives Crimpshrine tons of praise so it was an easy decision to put them on top of Screeching Weasel.
2) THE DESCENDENTS - Without a doubt one of the most influential punk bands ever.  The Descendents combined quick aggressive, sometimes technical riffs with melodic and catchy vocal hooks.  “Milo Goes to College” was a life game changing album for me, every song off the album was an instant classic from the first time I heard it.  As I had dipped further into the catalog some of their songs, at first were hard to listen to because they were so poppy, but I came to love those too in time.  Songs like “Good Good Things”, “Cheer”, “Get The Time” and “Silly Girl” definitely paved the way for future pop punk.
1) THE RAMONES - Duh, I mean don’t even argue with me.  What band more clearly defined the current pop punk sound?  What pop punk band didn’t take a page from the KINGS OF POP PUNK!?? Think about a punk band you like, yeah they were influenced by the Ramones. Whether you love them, hate them or don’t care about them they established the blueprint of pop punk, everything from the whoa’s to the leather jackets.
OK, so I may be missing some bands.  Many of my friends will be like, “Where the fuck is BLINK!”  I just never listened to Blink 182, until I heard them on the radio.  Later some of my friends would play their earlier albums to show me how punk they were before they got big.  I’ll admit those albums were good,  I just didn’t listen to them at all and can’t really speak to it. Then there are bands like Mr. T Experience, Squirtgun, The Pink Lincolns, The Wynona Riders, The Weakerthans and so many more bands from that era that I didn’t include, it was hard to decide and I just went with personal favorites when it came down to it.  I had The Lunachicks on this list, but realized after I typed the top 15 I had accidentally erased my write-up on them.  At that point I had a nice and tidy 15 bands so I’ll just mention them here, just listen to their album “Jerk Of All Trades”.  I didn’t include Fifteen who is also one of my personal favorites, but I did include Crimpshrine which I think is the more influential band.  There is the Buzzcocks, which people remark was an influential band for pop punk, and deserves mentioning.  Yes there is The Erg’s, who I’ve seen a bunch and they are incredible, but I was focusing more on an era, and then if I include The Ergs (formed in 2000), then I have to think about Lemuria, and then you have The Dopamines, House Boat, the list goes on.  There are a slew of new pop punk bands like Teenage Bottlerocket, The Bombpops, Direct Hit and Mean Jeans.  It’s just really too many and I didn’t want to crack into the new era.  Also, I went with more popular bands as well, I have many pop punk gems in my collection of lesser known bands from different corners of the world, but that would be another list for another day.
Thanks for reading!

25 Fun Things To Do In Delhi
Fun Things To Do In Delhi: Delhi, India, is a huge city that contains a frustrating amount of background, culture, life, food, temples, and also whatever else you might possibly imagine.
Throughout these things to do in Delhi today, I have actually detailed each destination, given them all a short introduction, and after that shared my notes as well as individual visiting ideas, which I believe you’ll discover valuable.
I’m mosting likely to be sincere, not everything is a wind to achieve in India, which chooses the resources as well.
Things do not always end up how you want them to, and also there will always develop some frustrations when touring around.
Yet do not let the inconveniences obtain you down, keep a positive perspective. I would certainly advise not putting on anything as well elegant or ritzy, as well as if you’re a female, I would urge you to dress extremely modestly, and also perhaps even wear a head covering/ scarf.
That being said, the culture, history and also food in Delhi is extraordinary!
If you have not currently seen it, make certain to look into my Delhi travel overview for a lot more tips and also valuable details.
Where to Stay in Delhi for things to do in Delhi
Here are a few of the resorts I suggest in Delhi:
Oberoi New Delhi (Luxury) — Among the very best high-end hotels in Delhi is the Oberoi New Delhi.
Saket Bed and Breakfast (Mid-range) — Saket is a wonderful b and b that feels like you’re remaining in a deluxe home. It very well provided, clean, risk-free, as well as in a nice community in South Delhi.
Bloomrooms (Mid-range) — Likewise situated in South Delhi, Bloomrooms is a flash-packer design mid-range place to stay.
Smyle Inn (Budget) — Situated in the Paharganj location of Delhi, this is an excellent budget plan accommodation choice near the railroad station. Review my complete article about accommodation in Delhi.
Where to Get Transport for Delhi Visit
I took the Metro almost everywhere to get to all of these tourist attractions. It’s clean, efficient, typically stuffed, as well as exceptionally low-cost. To make your life simpler, it behaves to acquire a Metro card (50 Rupees down payment) as well as include some cash money on it, instead of acquiring a new ticket every ride. Conversely, there’s also 1 day (100 Rupees) and also 3 days (250 Rupees) City traveler passes available. After getting off the Metro you can either walk or take a short car rickshaw ride to every little thing included on this checklist.
HOHO Bus (Get On Jump Off) — Like several other major cities, Delhi has actually a tourist developed bus where you can pay a set charge for a 1 or 2-day duration and the bus goes from destination to tourist attraction. You can leave any place you like and also stay as long as you desire, and the buses come something like every 30–45 mins throughout the day. The HOHO bus does not operate on Monday.
One last word of suggestions: In Delhi, I was undermanned modification after spending for a number of various destinations. I know authorities periodically do this purposefully since at Qutub Minar I counted my adjustment, was 100 Rupees short, so I turned back to the counter, and he instantly provided me 100 Rupees without stating anything … he knew all along but was hoping I really did not matter. Count your modification, as well as need that you are given the proper quantity!
Now allow’s dive right into these 25 Fun Things to do in Delhi …
The Lotus Holy Place (Bahá’ í House of Worship).
Among the various identifiable spots which are scattered all around Delhi is the impressive Lotus Temple. Created in the form of a sacred lotus flower, there are 27 flowers that are built of marble and comprise the structure.
Though it’s dedicated to the Bahá’ í faith, it’s a religious worshipping grounds for people of all faiths (thus is the approach of the Bahá’ í confidence). As you come close to the temple, you’ll walk through some well-polished gardens and then have the possibility to put your footwear in the cost-free as well as safe shoe down payment area. You’ll after that be given a 2-minute instruction by a volunteer, primarily about turning off your mobile phone and keeping silent, and then you’ll be totally free to enter the haven and being in pure silence for as long as you ‘d like.
How to arrive: I took the City to Kalkaji Mandir terminal and from there it has to do with a 10 min walk to the entry gateway — you’ll see the huge lotus from the City as you approach.
Website: http://www.hindishayari.likesyou.org/.
Visiting Time: Tuesday — Sunday from 9 am — 7 pm, closed on Mondays. Cost: Free.
ISKCON Hare Krishna Temple
Situated simply a 15-minute walk from the Lotus Holy Place (though you have to walk as a result of the fencing), is one of the biggest as well as most interesting temples devoted to the International Culture for Krishna Awareness.
The spiritual motion was really founded in the USA and is now represented throughout India. Seeing the temple, you’ll be able to easily walk around and sit in the refuge where you can pay attention to the ever-existing drum as well as the chant of “Har-e-Krishna.” I believe they additionally have a theater where you can see a movie, but I didn’t see it.
Just how to get there: The closest City terminal is Nehru Place as well as the holy place has to do with a 10-minute walk from the terminal. As discussed above, I checked out after mosting likely to the Lotus Holy place.
Website: http://www.hindishayari.likesyou.org/
Address: Hare Krishna Hill Sant Nagar, East of Kailash New Delhi, India Hrs: Day hours
Rate: Free
Kalkaji Mandir Hindu Holy Place
The final holy place making a triad of holy places bordering the Lotus Holy place is the Hindu Kalkaji Mandir. It’s not a large vacationer attraction, and also mainly (a minimum of when I existed) it’s a holy place where locals go. The temple is devoted to the Siren Kali as well as is the site of several rituals that include vocal singing and also chanting.
When I was there, it looked like a variety of babies were being dedicated. Not intending to leave my shoes somewhere ignored, I stuck them in a plastic bag as well as lugged them about with me, and also nobody bothered me such as at a few other holy places such as the Kalighat temple in Kolkata.
How to get there: Take the City to Kalkaji Mandir terminal as well as it’s simply a 5-minute walk from there, it’s right across the street from the entrance gateway to the Lotus Temple.
Hours: Tuesday — Sunday from morning until evening, closed on Mondays Cost: Free
Jama Masjid
It was the during the Islamic Mughal realm when most of Delhi’s renowned ancient sites were created. In the heart of Old Delhi, situated right at Chawri Bazar and extremely near to Chandni Chowk is the biggest Islamic mosque in the city, Jama Masjid. It’s a big structure, constructed in the 17th century, and also consists of numerous entryways that all result in the major worship deck. The mosque has 2 towering minarets as well as a couple of onion formed domes. The gigantic expanse on the upper flooring has the capacity to hold 25,000 people. There are some great dining establishments like Karim’s and others within the area.
Note: When you come close to any entrance of the mosque a person will quit you as well as ask you to pay 300 Rupees (a bit overly high in my point of view). So I quit as well as read all the main guidelines uploaded on the wall. It plainly mentions, that just “Cameras including cellphone video cameras will be charged 300 Rupees.” So I decided to not take any kind of pictures inside (just took photos from the outdoors), and also they still wanted to charge me, yet I merely just entered without paying. Obviously, once within, several neighborhood Indians were taking pictures with their phones, and also it’s quite secure to state, they really did not pay 300 Rupees. If you intend to take photos inside the mosque, the regulation specifies to pay 300 Rupees, however if you just want to go into without taking pictures, DON’T let them bill you!
How to get there: I took the Metro to Chawri Chowk station, left at Entrance # 3, as well as from there you just walk directly down the street for about 10–15 mins, as well as the roadway, will certainly lead you right to the mosque. You can after that either take a left or right to enter either primary gateway of the mosque.

Akshardham Temple
This modern-day Hindu temple complex, which was integrated in 2005, is just one of the things to do in Delhi that you do not intend to leave out seeing. Akshardham, with its intricate style, building, and also its absurd amount of ideal detail as well as decor will certainly blow your mind.
They don’t enable anything inside the temple facility, but they do have a very safe (as well as complimentary) location to save all your possessions — you’ll need to deposit your cam, phone, as well as every little thing, but they’re risk-free as well as their system is very organized. You after that walk into the gates, proceed with the visitor facility, and also you’ll be standing straight before the spectacular holy place. Maintain coming close to, down payment your footwear, as well as go into the temple.
The inside of the temple is unbelievable; What you’ll see will make your jaw drop. The quantity of labor and craftsmanship that entered into constructing Akshardham is inconceivable. Sorry, they don’t allow any photos, so you’ll have to see it on your own!
Exactly how to arrive: Take the Delhi City to Akshardham station (make certain you head in the direction of NOIDA city center terminal), exit to the main street, turn appropriate and then turn right once again when driving and also stroll for regarding 10 mins and you’ll be at the primary entryway gate. Gurudwara Bangla Sahib (Sikh Temple).
Unlike the anxious feeling of seeing Jama Masjid (where someone constantly appears to be requesting for cash and also your footwear are likely to obtain stolen if you leave them someplace), the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib Sikh Holy Place is about the friendliest, most welcoming, and also comfortable temple you’ll ever check out. Nobody will ask you for cash, a contribution, or anything. You simply leave your footwear safely in the down payment space and walk around the temple.
There’s a big swimming pool of water outdoors on one side, a dining facility where many people share a dish with each other daily, and also a medical center. Go inside the holy place as well as you can sit and also delight in the Sikh band playing drums and vocal singing as you sit there in peace. It’s a truly excellent experience, and also I ‘d classify it as a should check out when you’re in Delhi.

Also known as Birla Mandir, this substantial Hindu temple complex in Delhi is currently the main visitor destination. The temple is renowned as it was officially opened up by Mahatma Gandhi as well as it’s a Hindu holy place that is implied for people coming from all different castes of India. The holy place was undoubtedly nice, but I didn’t assume it was near as excellent as Akshardham and even as intriguing as Kalkaji Mandir.
Unlike a few other holy places in Delhi where they provide you protect as well as a totally free place to leave your shoes without any pressures, at Laxmi Narayan Mandir they instruct immigrants to enter a special little area to leave your footwear and after that, you really feel a bit required to leave a tip … though certainly, as they state … “it depends on you.”
Just how to arrive: I took a car rickshaw from the Sikh Temple for 40 INR, as well as I ‘d visualize you might obtain a car rickshaw from Connaught Place for around 50–60 INR. Hours: 6 am — 10 pm daily Rate: Free, but a tip for shoes

Nowadays, the complex is a public Delhi park, a location where lots of students most likely to simply socialize with friends, and also chat while remaining on ancients rocks and burial places. Delhi simply has many old Mughal buildings of background that there are many that are simply public as well as not fully maintained, however, they are simply part of the lives of homeowners — such is the case when it comes to Hauz Khas.
Hauz Khas Town, situated bordering the entry of the ruins, is a high-end exterior purchasing location full of store shops, luxury dining establishments, and also coffee shops. When I was in Delhi, I remained at a location near Hauz Khas. If you’re searching for where to stay in Delhi, South Delhi is a good area.
Just how to arrive: The simplest means to get to Hauz Khas Complex and also Town is by taking the Delhi City to Environment-friendly Park terminal and then jumping in a car rickshaw to Hauz Khas. It needs to set you back 20–30 INR.

Kids run around, individuals delight in picnics, and also musicians end up being inspired by walking as well as sitting in these gardens. The park is huge, and also it’s easy to walk for a few hours delighting in a breath of fresh air as well as discovering the 500-year-old burial places.
I discovered it extremely fascinating and unsubstantiated that such ancient and also crucial buildings are just a normal part of everyday life in Delhi, actually amazing!
How to arrive: I took the Metro to Khan Market terminal as well as from there it had to do with a 30-minute stroll to Lodi Gardens. If you do not want to stroll, take the city to Khan Market terminal and afterward jump in an automobile rickshaw.

The turret is the highest in all of India, and also it was originally built virtually 1,000 years earlier.

Initially constructed in 1754, the tomb was constructed for Safdarjung, a prominent leader under Muhammad Shah, a lot more powerful Mughal emperor. The tomb’s building and construction are very similar to Hamayun’s burial place, and it’s bordered by Mughal yards.
When I visited, I was the only traveler around, so it was quiet, I might listen to the crows squawking, as well as it was a wonderful break to be far from the regular Delhi crowds. It’s not extremely well maintained, but they did seem to do a bit of maintenance when I went.

As soon as you get in the gate, you’ll be able to freely walk as well as see some of the major structures, halls, and mosques. In addition to being a location to find out and see the history of Delhi, it’s additionally just a peaceful place to escape the groups and also sound outside the wall surfaces. Nonetheless, if you check out Agra, please most likely to the Agra Fort, I assumed it was a lot more impressive than the Red Fort in Delhi.
How to arrive: You can quickly walk in about 20 minutes or take a fast vehicle rickshaw trip from Chandni Chowk metro station to the Lahore Entrance of the Red Ft. Raj Ghat is a memorial dedicated to Gandhi, and also it’s located in the place where he was cremated.
The entire location is a park, and also there took place to be a lot of trainees running around the day I went. When you enter the memorial, you leave your shoes at the counter (for a small suggestion), and after that stroll right into the central yard where you can walk around the black marble memorial of Gandhi.
Exactly how to arrive: To arrive I took an automobile rickshaw from Chandni Chowk to Raj Ghat for 60 INR as well as leaving I took a vehicle rickshaw to the local City station (Indraprastha) for 40 INR.

Chandni Chowk & Chawri Bazar.
As a result of my interest in street food, I resembled a youngster in a candy store when walking Chandni Chowk and also Chowri Bazar in Old Delhi. This location is a thick disorderly center of trade, service, food, spices, and also general life. You’ll discover some of the most intriguing individuals as well as companies in all of Delhi in this small district.
You can walk through the narrow old lanes, drop in at the inviting Sikh temple, as well as check out both the Jama Mosque and Red Ft which are both in the area. There are additionally a variety of resorts as well as areas to remain situated in Chandni Chowk.

Spice Market (Khari Baoli in Old Delhi).
To the west side of Chandni Chowk, beginning along Church Road, however really along Khari Baoli, you’ll discover the Old Delhi seasoning market. It’s apparently the largest spice market in Asia, and also you’ll be involved in a colorful range of all things spices, dried fruits, nuts, and also an army of rickshaw carriers as well as males simply existing around in addition to gunny sacks taking naps.
Just how to arrive: Take the Delhi Metro to Chandni Chowk terminal, walk west along Chandni Chowk roadway till reaching the T-intersection. Make a right on Objective Church Roadway and also transform left on Khari Baoli.
Dilli Haat — Handicraft Town.
Dilli Haat is the specific opposite buying experience from Chandni Chowk and the Flavor Market; It’s tranquil, tidy, arranged, practical, and also truly well set up. It’s a bit like Asiatique in Bangkok, yet much less glamourous. Dilli Haat is a type of an outside shopping plaza where suppliers market top quality Indian inventions in a friendly, secure setting.
Along with being a terrific place to purchase keepsakes and handicrafts, Dilli Haat is known (even for neighborhood Indians), as a wonderful location to example Indian food from around the whole nation. I believe there’s a dining establishment representing each of the states of India. While I wanted to eat at every stall, I chose a North Indian restaurant called Mahak and also delighted in a vegan thali. I then ate a Rajasthani kulfi gelato for dessert.
Just how to arrive: Take the City to INA station and also Dilli Haat is simply a short walk from there.

Connaught Location — Rajiv Chowk (& Palika Bazar).
While Delhi doesn’t specifically have a single midtown downtown, if you did choose one area to classify as that, it would most likely be Connaught Place. Within the collection of roundabouts that make up the central framework of “CP,” are countless stores, scrumptious dining establishments, and also a dark below-ground shopping center known as Palika Bazar.
This mega series of roundabouts is honestly very complicated and a little frustrating to the very first-time site visitor. When I left the City for the very first time at Rajiv Chowk I had no idea what I was doing or where I was going, so I just strayed around a little bit aimlessly. The following time I went, I brought my map (I would certainly advise it), and also had a few locations (mainly restaurants), that I wished to visit and also noted them clearly on my map. A smartphone would be nice also if you use one.
Just how to arrive: Take the Delhi City to Rajiv Chowk station as well as take any kind of variety of exits.
Hours: Shops, as well as restaurants, start to open up at around 10 or 11 am daily.
Paharganj (Key Bazar).
Located alongside the New Delhi Railroad Terminal, Paharganj is an area in Delhi that is recognized for its crowded roads, buying, and currently its the spending plan backpacker center of Delhi. If you’re searching for where to remain in Delhi where you’ll have simple access to transportation as well as lots of action, head to Paharganj.
The area is yet an additional fascinating area of Delhi to discover as well as consists of a host of services and also dining establishments. I had the very best chole bhature (deep-fried bread offered with delicious chickpea curry) of my whole time in Delhi at a little restaurant known as Sita Ram Diwan Chand.
Just how to arrive: You could take the City to Ramakrishna Ashram Marg and after that stroll to Paharganj, yet I just took the Metro to New Delhi Station, went through the Railroad Station to the opposite side (which is the Paharganj side), then went across the street, as well as you’ll be in Paharganj. The road is called Key Bazar or Baba Namdev Marg.
Kulle Chaat
From the moment I stepped off the aircraft in Kolkata, I began to devour some extremely delicious Indian food; Afterall, I took a trip to India with a primary intent to eat. However it remained in Delhi when I had my very first example of something known as Kulle Chaat, and also my emotions struck a peak high of pleasure.
This treat of numerous vegetables and also fruits burrowed and loaded with mix spices, lime juice, salt, chickpeas and also pomegranate seeds was so easy and so life-changing tasty, that I felt compelled to include it right here on this listing of leading 25 fun things to do in New Delhi. That’s right, it was THAT great!
Note: Currently right here’s the trouble, I ate it all (as well as licked home plate), and also my belly was great. Yet, it can, by all means, have beads of dirty water or things like that, so if your tummy is not extremely strong, take care … yet I personally would risk practically anything for an additional bite of Kulliya chaat.
How to get there: Take the City to Chawri Chowk, venture out at Entrance 3, stroll directly down the busy roadway on your left side as well as you’ll concern an extremely appealing frying pan crackling filled with deep-fried potato cutlets and bhaji. You’ll then see a little photo of kulle chaat on the wall surface as well as you’ll need to ask him for it. He’ll nod, and also in simply a minute, it will certainly yours for the eating! The delay is called Hira Lal Chaat, yet it’s only written in Hindi.
Hours: Lunch and also night, by road food, operates its own schedule.
Cost: 50 INR.
Delhi Road Food.
Now you possibly know that I’m a road food and all types of food addicts. So certainly, in my opinion, tasting the magnificent range of Indian road food is just one of the best fun things to do in Delhi, at least I think so.
For a fast road dish, you’ll discover chole, a spicy chickpea curry served from a golden upright gauntlet, served with either freshly cooked chapatis or a white bread that looks type of like pita. It’s readily available on nearly every edge of Delhi — as well as it’s really actually good. Samosas, pakoras, as well as a range of chaats (delicious treats), are also really common throughout Delhi. To get the most varied option done in one place, you’ve reached spend a long time wandering around Chandni Chowk where you’ll locate a tantalizing quantity of intriguing street food thrills.
Prices: Delhi street food is a little a lot more pricey than Kolkata street food, as well as you’ll pay 30–50 Rupees for a treat and also 40–60 Rupees for the dish.
North Indian Food.
While Delhi is a fusion of cultures throughout India, and additionally individuals from all over the world, consuming home-grown cuisine is what I frequently strive to do. North Indian food is really rich, and also it’s very savory and really rewarding. Pieces of bread like tandoori roti, chapatis, naan, and also other deep-fried pieces of bread are much more common than rice, which is the staple of south Indian food.
Along with rotis, you’ll find unbelievable tandoori cooked chicken, paneer cheese prepared in a variety of different curries, and all sorts of various vegetables like lentils, beans, as well as peas. You can find a lot of both pure vegetarian and non-vegetarian (meat) restaurants. Karim’s in Old Delhi and also Bhape Da Hotel at Connaught Location were two remarkable dining establishments I ate at! Read More at Travel Adventure India

Galentine’s Day Is Everywhere. Here’s Why.
On a mid-February afternoon, dozens of women, mostly in their 20s and 30s, ascended to a hotel rooftop in Manhattan, dressed for brunch in pink blazers, pink tank tops, pink eye shadow, even pink hair. Heart streamers cascaded from the doorway. Sangria flowed freely, the mimosa bar was stocked, and the waffles were limitless.
There was just one noted absence: boys. They weren’t allowed.
This wasn’t a Valentine’s celebration, after all. It was a Galentine’s party for “ladies celebrating ladies.” Feb. 14 is still reserved for romantic relationships. But, if you’re not in one, the week of Feb. 13 is all about sisterhood — and increasingly, as corporations take note of this trend, commercialization.
Galentine festivities originated on “Parks and Recreation,” the seven-season NBC sitcom that chronicled the relationships between Leslie Knope (played by Amy Poehler) and her local public sector colleagues. In an episode of Season 2 that first aired 10 years ago, Leslie gathers her female pals for brunch and showers them with gifts — hand-crocheted flower pens, mosaic portraits of each guest made from the crushed bottles of their favorite diet soda, and personalized 5,000-word essays of why they’re awesome. “It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst,” she said, “plus frittatas.”
Where Valentine’s focuses on romance — a holiday that can feel alienating or exclusionary for some — Galentine’s festivities offer a more welcoming vibe. Over the last decade, fans of the show have been crafting Galentine’s celebrations, pulling some elements from the show and creating some of their own.
At the Monarch Rooftop in Midtown Manhattan, where tickets for the event cost $40, the brunch menu featured the classic essentials, frittatas and waffles — Leslie’s favorite food — but added “avo-cuddle” toast, “bae-gals” and fries “B4 guys.” Some guests exchanged gifts, but dialed down the Leslie-level intensity to sparkly heart rings and hair clips. And although tabletop drinking games were never part of the “Parks and Rec” Galentine’s checklist, the prosecco pong was a fun (albeit boozy) touch.
“I just like to be around girls and have no guys here,” said Tiffany Alves, 25, a student at New York Law School in Manhattan who brought two law school girlfriends along this past Sunday. “I feel like you can take pictures and drink and eat and dance, and they’re not going to judge you.”
But as more women adopt Galentine’s as an annual tradition — undoubtedly helped by the availability of “Parks and Recreation” through streaming — companies are cashing in.
Hallmark now offers Galentine’s trinkets and greeting cards — “Hey lady,” one reads, “How are you so awesome?” Party City sells glittery Galentine’s balloons and banners, along with “fries not guys” paper cups. On Etsy, handmade Galentine’s crafts abound, including cards, balloons, buttons, hair ties and uterus-shaped confetti.
Bars, coffee shops, boutiques and fitness studios are also hosting their own Galentine’s promotions and events.
“It’s sort of impossible in America for anything to enter the culture and then not be commodified, you know?” said Michael Schur, the creator and an executive producer of “Parks and Recreation.” “I wish it weren’t being used the way it’s used sometimes, but I’m happy that it’s being used at all because that means that it struck a chord with people.”
Mr. Schur first noticed the extension of Galentine’s Day years ago, with ads on Twitter and signs around Los Angeles offering customers free Galentine’s margaritas in honor of the unofficial holiday.
“Anytime anything you write sort of penetrates this disparate culture that we’re in and catches on and sort of is echoed back to you, that’s delightful,” he said. “But it also was odd to see it sort of warped a little bit and converted into this thing that’s being used by brands and websites and corporations in order to have a sale on whatever it is they’re hawking. Because obviously, that wasn’t the point of it.”
Mr. Schur, whose other series include “The Office,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “The Good Place,” hasn’t seen a lot of other details from his shows take hold the way Galentine’s has. “Treat Yo Self,” another “Parks and Rec”-ism, has somewhat entered the public lexicon — and other holidays with sitcom origins, like Festivus of “Seinfeld” fame, are recognizable but no longer widely celebrated.
But Galentine’s seems to have broken through the screen, perhaps because it gives women like Ms. Alves and her friends the chance to dress up and celebrate being together. For a group obsessed with the show, they say it’s “becoming our tradition.”

Confused About Trump’s Racially Charged Twitter Rant? Look to the Birther Motion
http://tinyurl.com/y6menvur When President Donald Trump used racially charged language Sunday to recommend that American representatives crucial of U.S. coverage ought to return to the place they got here from, a firestorm of backlash erupted each on-line and thru conventional media channels. Whereas Trump didn’t identify his targets, whom he known as “‘Progressive’ Democrat Congresswomen,” within the tweet, his critique was extensively understood to be about freshmen members of Congress typically known as “the squad,” particularly Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, and Ayanna Pressley.  Trump prompt they “initially got here from international locations whose governments are a whole and whole disaster,” and they need to as a substitute “return and assist repair the completely damaged and crime-infested locations from which they got here.” Democrats expressed outrage and even shock that the president might insinuate that U.S. elected representatives have been one way or the other inauthentically American. Republicans, for probably the most half, were silent, although Texas Republican Rep. Chip Roy tweeted that it was “fallacious to say any American citizen, whether or not in Congress or not, has any ‘house’ moreover the US.” Anybody searching for clues to Trump’s newest racially-fueled remarks want look no additional than his unique political conspiracy: the birther motion. As early as 2011, Trump started echoing a conspiracy (first launched by fringe political candidate Andy Martin) calling for then-President Barack Obama’s start certificates, insinuating that the Hawaii-born/Chicago-raised politician was not, in reality, an American. On the coronary heart of Trump’s newest criticism Sunday is similar ugly nut of the birther motion: a suspicion that folks of shade, and particularly Individuals from immigrant households, are one way or the other much less authentically American. It is a conspiracy idea that may be traced additional, too, discovering its roots way back to mid-19th century nativism and the concept that immigrants—and their kids—can not have the pursuits of so-called “native” Individuals in thoughts. First, the information are essential. To start, the congresswomen in query, Ocasio-Cortez, Tlaib, Omar, and Pressley, are all Individuals. All besides Omar—who got here to the nation on the age of 12 as a Somalian refugee—have been born within the U.S. The tweet from Trump got here because the 4 Congresswomen have been talking out in opposition to Trump’s coverage of household separation and ICE raids. A number of of the congresswomen have been fast to level out that Trump’s remarks got here as they led mass protests over the remedy of immigrants trying to cross into the U.S. Trump’s tweets in regards to the congresswomen echoed most intently his personal historical past with birtherism vis-à vis Obama. The declare that Obama was not born within the U.S., a falsehood that Trump admitted in 2016, was a lie that the president continued to tout for years, each at quite a few public appearances and on tv. Trump even stated on the Laura Ingraham show in 2011 that Obama’s start certificates would checklist him as “Muslim” (faith will not be in any method listed on U.S. start certificates). Claiming that Obama was neither American nor Christian was a option to paint him as the opposite in each attainable method.  The roots of birtherism discover their ideological roots in a a lot older American political custom—the so-called Nativist motion that began to spring up practically 200 years in the past. The xenophobic Know-Nothing social gathering of the mid-19th century reached its peak within the 1850s, with greater than 100 representatives in Congress, campaigning on a fiercely anti-immigrant platform. Two of their primary targets have been to ban all Catholics from authorities workplace and to impose a 21-year naturalization interval for all immigrants. Posters known as Catholics “vile imposters, liars, villains, and cowardly cutthroats” and depicted immigrants as ignorant drunks, the Smithsonian reported. The query of who and is certainly American has usually fallen alongside the arbitrary traces of pores and skin shade. As Irish-American Congressman Brendan Boyle put it: “I’m younger, from an immigrant household, additionally very crucial of Trump. Humorous factor although, he by no means tells me to ‘return the place I come from.’ Hmm I’m wondering why?” For his half, precisely none of Trump’s grandparents, and solely one among his dad and mom, was born within the U.S. And but, nobody has led a campaign to drive Trump to provide a start certificates.  “THIS is what racism appears like. WE are what democracy appears like. And we’re not going anyplace,” tweeted Rep. Pressley of Massachusetts.  Extra must-read tales from Fortune: —What to anticipate from the second Democratic debate —Who wins and loses as White House withdraws drug rebate plan —A new holding center for migrant children is open in Texas —Fed Chairman Powell: If Trump asks me to leave, I won’t —Tom Steyer mastered markets and now he needs to topple Trump Stand up to hurry in your morning commute with Fortune’s CEO Daily e-newsletter.
