fediverse is a nice idea but judging from what ive seen (mastodon, pleroma)

its super hard to find content. for many who claim trending hashtags would just encourage unhealthy behavior, i just spent the last 2 days staring at federated timeline just for content i might like due to the lack thereof. from my experience, hashtags are mostly empty or filled with people who hashtag a lot but with barely related content. im on a social media platform to be social, not to be isolated. i wanted a platform where i can still be social, just having my data not owned by a company and sold off. i think im rebounding to the proprietary sites like tumblr, facebook, and twitter because i cant find fuck all in the fediverse. im wasting my time because first and foremost im on a social media to socialize. the whole thing just goes against the idea of finding new things and people based on content you like.

i give up. at least i tried. plus in this pursuit of privacy i got to meet protonmail anyway. yay for that win.
