Something about Hotch doing the reports for them feels super paternal. Like yeah he’s probably aware they either wouldn’t do it or would half-ass it but, also, caring enough that they’re busy and helping them out? Knowing he definitely wasn’t afforded the same help when he started? Doing it while his wife was asking him to reduce his workload? Staying up and finishing the paperwork while the rest of the team tried to sleep on the jet because there would always be a chance of immediately having to turn around for another case when they landed? Rossi and Gideon would fucking NEVER. I think Hotch is such a good leader because he knows exactly what it looks like when you aren’t one, but he also knows it’s rare for anyone in a position of power to care so he had to get them ready for possibly having to learn that the hard way.

he’s just…. so caring and he’s so quiet about it? which makes this whole situation so fucking heartbreaking. they dont even KNOW all he does for them, and he wont tell them bc he doesnt do it for the recognition. he doesnt do it so they’ll see how much he cares, he doesnt it to genuinely make their lives easier. the only reason he told morgan was bc he had to stop—how many other little things does he do that he says nothing about?
