FICLET: Fought the Perfect Storm ~ BBC's Merlin ~ Mature
Title: Fought the Perfect Storm Fandom: BBC's Merlin Author: Batsutousai Rating: Mature Pairing: Arthur Pendragon/Guinevere & Merlin/Morgana Pendragon Warnings: magic reveal, implied off-screen sex, established relationship, AU Prompt: N/A Summary: Arthur muses over how Merlin and Morgana became an item, while Gwen enjoys his suffering.
It had been about six months since Morgana and Helios' brief conquest of Camelot, when Merlin had started acting...strange. Even for him. (Admittedly, Arthur hadn't really noticed, otherwise busy with ruling a kingdom, but Guinevere had noticed. Had cornered Arthur's idiotic manservant and somehow convinced him to talk to her, even though every word of his concerns had been treason, because a bloody dragon had been screaming for help in his head—which was something that just happened to those able to use magic—and Merlin had been waffling over going to help it.) Armed with Guinevere's blessing, Merlin had left Camelot to help the dragon, and Guinevere—Arthur's dearest love—had decided to go on a crusade to convince Arthur that magic could have a place in Camelot.

[Patreon Fic] Jar of Hearts ~ BBC Merlin ~ Merlin/Morgana ~ Mature
Title: Jar of Hearts Fandom: BBC's Merlin Author: Batsutousai Rating: M Pairings: Morgana/Merlin, one-sided Merlin/Arthur, Arthur/Gwen Warnings: AU - canon universe, love triangle, spoilers through series four (though only accurate through 2x03) Summary: Destiny says Morgana and Merlin will dodge each other's steps for rest of their lives, but no one—not even the Great Dragon and all his future knowledge—could have foreseen how thin the line is between doom and love.
Second place on the last poll was my Mergana fic, which was started before (We Can Burn) Brighter Than the Sun, and more closely follows canon. It is written from Morgana's PoV, however.
Chapter one is currently up, and chapter two will post tomorrow, because I'm very much behind on typing up this tumblr post. (In my defence, the past couple of weekends have been...busy. And weekdays tend to be disasters.)
Having decided that Merlin was her friend, Morgana made a point over the next couple weeks to hunt him down and spend time with him. He'd acclimated to life in Camelot by then, and seemed to enjoy himself, in spite of Arthur's prattish ways. He often got tongue-tied around Morgana, in the beginning, but as soon as she mentioned Arthur or started teasing him about Gwen, the red in his ears would fade away as he fell into a rant about his idiot of a master or denied all affection for Gwen.
Morgana felt a little bad when, after the first week of this strange new friendship, she admitted to herself—though not to Merlin, because teasing him about it was too much fun—that he really didn't have any feelings for Gwen. As far as he was concerned, the maidservant was a very good friend who he adored. And he'd had so few friends—he'd admitted that in a moment of red-faced shame when Morgana asked about his family and friends back home—in the past, that he really was quite protective of those he made.
"You're hardly protective of me," she pointed out with a predatory smile.
Merlin let out a nervous laugh, almost falling out the window he was beating one of Arthur's quilts out of. "Somehow, my lady," he said in that overly respectful tone that he never used with Arthur unless Uther was in hearing range, "I think you're more than capable of taking care of yourself."
"Feel free to mention that to Arthur," Morgana replied, unable to completely hide the bitterness in her voice.
Merlin's flush had receded just the slightest at the mention of Arthur, and when he spoke, it was in the easy tone he often used with the other servants, "He thinks you're more capable than me, at least." And then he lost his grip on the broom he was using on the quilt and hurriedly pulled his head and the quilt through the window as a pained shout came from below.
