What We Know About Okyann

(as of the second beta; last updated 8/27/23!)

Kayo Tomiyama, codename Okyann, is a 44 year-old housewife, and family friend of Wonder's who is very talkative. She joins the team as a "Phantom Idol", or cognitive teammate.

Notably, Kayo's design changed drastically between the two betas- in the first beta, this was her appearance:

Her Japanese voice actress is Atsuko Tanaka.

With a text icon appearing for her in the data, and with Kayo being a Phantom Idol, she's likely to be a Confidant of Wonder's eventually.

In the story, Kayo appears on three separate occasions. The first time, she runs into Wonder in front of his house as he's heading to school, and gushes about how he's grown up so handsome since she last saw him, and mentions Wonder's mother. She goes on to talk about how her "Darling" also went to Kokatsu Academy, and mentions the directions to get there. She eventually lets Wonder leave and head to school.

The second time, she comes across Wonder in Shibuya, shortly after he's returned from going to Kiuchi's Palace for the first time. When he asks her about a crafting table (which he needs to make infiltration tools), she mentions there's a secondhand shop in Yongen-Jaya that might have one, and rambles on a bit more before continuing on her way.

The third time is again on Wonder's way to school, where she asks about his health. She fusses over this, and brings up the problem with phantoms, saying she'd have some more peace of mind if she knew he had medicine, recommending Tae Takemi's clinic in Yongen-Jaya to him. After a moment, she admits she doesn't actually know what medicine would help with phantoms, or much about them in general.

Kayo is very friendly and outgoing, seeming to be the type that loves to chat and gossip (even to her friend's son, if he happens to be nearby). She seems attached to her "Darling" (likely a family member, possibly specifically her husband), and mentions them in at least two of the three conversations you have with her in the second beta.

Translated information mentions that she used to be a fashionista when she was younger, and her phantom thief attire and attitude seems to suggest she was specifically a gyaru (or, at the very least, had an interest in gyaru fashion), as Okyann's hairstyle, darkened skin tone, manner of speech, cellphone decoration, and dancing are all directly associated with gyaru.

Her Persona is Cleodora (based on a water nymph with the gift of prophecy in Greek mythology), and functions as a navigator.

While she doesn't strictly have a melee or ranged weapon as a navigator, P5X does have tools that the navigators use for their abilities, also obtained through the weapon gacha, and hers are flip phones.

There's also some information from the game data that may be spoilers, so I'm putting it under a cut.

A Shadow Kayo 3D model was found in the second beta's data, along with pieces for her Shadow's portraits in both betas' data. It's likely she is a future Palace ruler, though it's unknown when her Palace will come up in-game if so. Her first beta "original design" may actually have been an altered version of her Shadow's model and portraits.

What is possibly her Shadow's more monstrous form also has hints in the data, as there is a "chiyome" battle portrait in both betas' data, and Cleodora was mislabeled as "chiyome" in her own battle portrait in the second beta's data.

OKAY I ACTUALLY HAVE THOUGHTS ABOUT P5X. Again I have trouble keeping up with everything but there's a new closed beta test event going to occur from January 16th to the 31st known as The Stolen Heart test.

Unlike a lot of the other tests, this test is gearing up to be pretty interesting. Mainly because, The Phantom X group seems to be in DIRECT OPPOSITION TO THE PHANTOM THEIVES OF HEARTS.

There's even a moment in the trailer teasing it that takes place during Sae's Palace when Joker makes his huge distraction, but is attacked by Wonder.

It's causing a lot of debates if these events are canonical or not as, this wouldn't be the first case of another Persona User messing with Persona 5's iconic opening.

But...are the Phantom X more antagonistic than Vigilante?

What's going on with this game??

P5X Some Character Passives/Skills

So using very botched translation sites to translate some of the traits of a few characters I managed to get a small grasp of their general abilities. Keep in mind I don't have the beta, so I was only able to scrounge up info from separate streams. Leo's is the most accurate since Alegria translated it themselves(Big thanks to them for doing that on stream). SO anyway.

Closer: After dealing a critical hit to an enemy, follow up with an attack that deals small electric damage to the foe.

Cattle: Using his healing skill on an ally will increase their magic(?) damage for their next attack. Goes away on hit. (Datamined buff icons show this can go up to 3 stacks).

Soy: When an ice skill is used on a foe, grant foe a [Zero Degrees] debuff. Each stack of [Zero Degrees] decreases the foe's defense by 1%. Once the number of [Zero Degrees] stacks reaches 10, they will become an [Absolute Zero] debuff, which will decrease the foe's defense by 12%. [Absolute Zero] can be applied at a max of 1 stack, but through increasing Awareness, will go to a max of 2.

Also, his final Awareness level will increase the power of his Cold Tyrant skill by 10%/20%/30% and the Critical Damage of the skill by 20%/40%/60%, depending on if the foe he's attacking has 0/1/2 stacks of [Absolute Zero].

Leo: When using a skill that targets an ally, give that ally a [Justice] buff. Each stack of [Justice] increases that party member's damage by 15%, and goes away when said party member attacks. Can be applied at a max of 2 stacks, but through increasing Awareness, will go to a max of 3. Also, any shield that is on the target will gain another stack.

Mont: When an ally attacks, Mont gains one Ice Crystal. When Mont attacks, an Ice Crystal is used to deal another attack to the foe she attacked last.

This is all I have for now, but keep in mind Leo is the only one that's fully accurate due to being fully translated by someone who actually knows Chinese, I also was only able to find all of the Awareness abilities for Soy, so that's why he seems to have more "stuff" to him than the other characters.
