“Grotesque he seemed, among all the candles and the swimming colors of the flat, this filthy waif of the netherworld, and yet his beauty held sway.” - The Vampire Lestat, Anne Rice

literally cannot stop thinking about how pavlove getting put on spotify is so much more than just like a fun, cool thing that’s been a long time coming as a fan. it very much is that, but it also is symbolically so important? like, this is a song that was a bonus track on an album fob felt like they had to ignore and shy away from for nearly 15 years. this was a song that they probably never intended to play live (like much of folie) or release on streaming- until they started seeing just how much fans wanted it. until patrick mentioned wanting to play headfirst slide, and they saw that fans actually wanted that and so they did. and then they kept playing folie songs for the 8 ball songs, pavlove included. and the response to those folie 8 balls was overwhelmingly positive and full of love and encouragement. until fob saw how loved they and folie and pavlove truly are by fob fans now, to the point where they were able to heal from the fear of unhappy fans and a negative response to music they were truly proud of. to the point where they released pavlove on streaming. the thing about fall out boy is that they genuinely love and care about their fans, they show us the love we show them and i sincerely believe this is one of the finest examples of that

Showered and smelling like lavender, curls fresh and soft, studied chemistry/biochemistry all day just like I intended (I feel so good bc I was so productive like I promised myself I would be), lying in bed and chilling to relaxing rnb, volunteering tomorrow at a place whose cause is personal to me so I’m so excited (everyone who runs the place is so kind so I already know I’ll love working w them), rereading Beloved by Toni Morrison bc I’m obsessed and it’s actually getting me out of my reading slump, will probably hit the gym tomorrow after my study session, and I’m keeping up w reading one chapter a day of The Book of Delights. Life is being so good to me rn

A LOP art book is on the way!! + notes on korean interview with art direction team
The official LOP Art book is currently in production!! (from this set of interviews) [link]
Tumblr media
TONS of amazing content over at korean language interview with the art team!! I wanted to share because I think yall would really enjoy. If you like, you can just use google translate to read it pretty effectively. I myself am using google translate. (they also actually discuss pinocchio's freckles!!)
LOP development started with only 30 people and at time of interview had grown to 69 (there's another article i will dig up later that mentions they ended at around 100 people?). Interesting to me because that's really not a ton of people for a project of this size
funnily enough, the art team claims they were never trying to make pinocchio "attractive" or beautiful. They focused on creating a character that was both artificial and human, as though he was in between a doll and a human being [I reckon he just kind of turned out that way, probably because of the inclusion of said doll-like features. LOOK AT THOSE DOLLY LASHES AND GLASSY EYES.]
they also talk about the freckles here!! Art Director's answer on the freckles:
Tumblr media
basically that geppetto gave him freckles because he wanted to humanize pinocchio, since he is "ultimately a doll" [i find this kind of tragic]
More on Pinocchio's character design: REALLY interesting response that actually, Pinocchio is more "flawed"
Q. I also had the feeling that [he was] a typical idol who was pretty and handsome. A. Art Director Cha Byeong-jun: Actually, if you look at the facial shape, Pinocchio in <The Lie of P> has more imperfections.
Antonia herself as a metaphor for the "fallen krat", a once powerful and prosperous city now fallen to ruin.
