Uncanny Valley for the WIP asks? Sounds like a horror...!

Yes! Of a sort. I’ve always loved Halloween and anything spooky, and I wrote this idea down last year while dorking around with my brother, watching old school Are You Afraid of the Dark (where my 90s kids at?).

No one has lived in the old abandoned farm for years, but one day there is a fresh scarecrow in the fields. A girl and her brother are walking home one day and pass by to investigate. The boy shudders at the rictus grin and black, staring eyes sewn onto the burlap, but his sister gives its belly a good kick for laughs. Out spills a mess of bloody entrails, and screaming, they run away. The next day, they hesitantly return to the field for another look. But there is no scarecrow this time. Only dried blood where it had stood.
