Its written so its as if their careers began at the same time. There's obviously some parts where they deviate from each other(I blame Fernando), but they're pretty similar, no??

Here's some notes I have:

They both started at technically the same team(if you ignore that Seb raced one race for Sauber): Minardi/STR. And they spent 3 seasons either racing for that team or testing(Fernando for Renault, Seb for BMW teams), before being promoted to the team where they won their respective WDCS.

They both spent six seasons with their WDC team. And both won their WDCs using Renault engines. Both were pretty much the golden boys of their teams, beloved by their team principal and team in general. Unfortunately both aren't consecutive because Fernando tried out McLaren lol.

They spent a similar amount of years at Ferrari(five and six respectively.) Neither could win a WDC with Ferrai(😔) And both joined Ferrari in a very similar way. When Fernando joined, he ousted Kimi and it was very uncertain where Kimi was going. I think the commentators in 2009 predicted McLaren? (But he ended up taking a sabbatical obv.) But pretty messy, right? The literal same exact thing happened with Fernando and Seb in 2014-2015. They finally announced at the end of the season, even though it was pretty obvious, that Seb would be replacing Fernando. And where did Fernando go? McLaren! The history book on the shelf is always repeating itself. I guess I find it funny that Fernando replaced his former rival under somewhat messy circumstances, only for his other rival to do the exact same thing to him years later.

Okay McHonda and Alpine blah blah blah. Anyways they're probably going to have both end up competing their careers after two years with Aston Martin. This honestly is my favorite parallel. Because it's very sweet to me that Seb replaced Fernando, in an aforementioned messy way, only for Fernando to take Seb's seat in a very peaceful, almost "passing the torch" type exchange 🥰

I've been once again maining Klee throughout this Veluriyam Mirage questline a nd while exploring the mirage, both because I did get her skin, but also because it cheers me up so much to see her having fun.

#also the oceanid lore is incredible #I was right when I once said to someone that the oceanids are going to play some part in Fontaine #every summer event so far has been a sort of a preview to certain aspects of the next regions mechanics and/or archon quest #Maguu Kenki and Kazuha's involvement as well as the waverider being obvious for Inazuma in the first golden apple archipelago event #in the second one it was the 'dream state' thing which became a whole feature as the samsara in sumeru archon quest and with aranara etc #also some puzzle mechanics from 2.8 were adopted in sumeru though not in the exact same ways #now I'm suspecting it's the carnival & theatre themes and the oceanid lore at the very least- likely other stuff as well #I also am pretty certain about oceanids because the game has been fairly consistent about talking about their migration #I would not be surprised if we got another extra-long world quest series that had to do with them #and actually I do think oceanids WILL play some part in the archon quest as well especially since it's BECAUSE of focalors that they left #and so far practically every archon has had some kind of a personal growth journey during their respective quests #Ei being the most obvious one but I do think every archon quest is a representation of the archons' ideals #and the archons having to come face to face with the world changing and them having to 'adjust' their ideals somewhat because #the traveler's company to them lets them heal and see things from different perspectives #Venti wasn't quite so obvious but I do feel like it's a matter of his return and some aspects of what is and isn't true freedom #Zhongli did most of the introspection himself so that wasn't as obvious either but it's more to do about rule and status and the importance #of roles of deities and so on #while Inazuma is so obvious I don't really need to elaborate. Ei's idea of eternity was idiotic and she came to realize it. thats all #while Nahida... I think she sort of grew emotionally wiser in some ways because of the whole Rukkhadevata thing even though #she herself doesn't remember it at all #that's why I think ultimately archon quests ARE about the archons themselves and not really the traveler #the traveler has their own archon quest series after all #it's sometimes easy to forget the real point of the quests is not the traveler but rather the travel/journey itself #while travelers own archon quests are their & their sibling's own journey in a similar way #anyway. #just some evening thoughts I had #chalk thoughts

i’m finishing up awakening and have more thoughts (shocking) on astoria during this timeline. all character-specific interactions are, of course, subject to change to respect the preferences of writing partners who are writing those characters! but here we go —

she’s great to have around the vigil because she’s probably both at least a little familiar with the layout, given that her father was one of howe’s vassals, and she’ll be able to identify and give background on a lot of the avvar connections. (which, just a little sidebar, it is SO cool to see how much the avvar have maintained over the thousand-plus years from the last time they held the vigil to when we meet them more thoroughly in inquisition, which speaks to the strength of their oral traditions especially, considering that the environmental conditions in the frostbacks aren’t really lending themselves to preserving written records.)

she probably knows nathaniel in passing, or at the very very least, knows of him. it’ll create an interesting tension for her, and the tension between nathaniel and the warden will reflect her own internal turmoil as she tries to make sense of whether she wants to live her life as a lowlander, with her father’s family, or if she wants to live her life as an avvar, with her grandfather and uncle. nathaniel represents everything about her life in amaranthine — social obligations and nobility and aristocracy, the struggle to determine how to use one’s privilege and whether to use it, the pseudo-sacred nature of traditions. the warden represents everything about her life in the frostbacks — emphasis on a larger community, the equalizing nature of survival in a brutal setting, the absolute lack of permanence in all things.

in an official capacity she’s probably acting as an assistant, essentially, for the seneschal: she knows the warden, she knows the city, she can liaise between everyone when necessary. she can navigate the nobles, and she can help the warden try to bridge that gap. in an unofficial capacity she’s hanging out with her buddies, but also, she’s kind of cataloguing the avvar presence in amaranthine. it makes her feel more herself, and less like there has to be a single choice made about who she is and what her identity is.

she asks anders to help teach her some magic. primarily, healing. during this time she gets better and more consistent with her healing. i think, though, that this is also when her healing starts to have a potentially negative impact on her, because her magic is so erratic and hard to control. for instance: the magic feels like holding her fingertips to a fire, and she eventually loses feeling in the very tips of her fingers. because her magic is erratic i think it often works without her knowledge or awareness, and so she’s often healing small injuries in her own body — which is great in theory, except that these are superficial healings. her pain tolerance gets really fucked up, and she stops recognizing how seriously she might be injured unless someone else is there to check or point it out.

i also think she takes care of ser pounce after anders leaves. i like to imagine astoria sitting on the walls with pounce in her lap at night. she’ll pick up any other stray cats she finds, too.

at the start of awakening, astoria’s cut her hair — not very short, but it goes from near-waist-length to an inch or two past her shoulders. she wears her hair down more often, rather than in braids like she did during the blight.

during astoria’s personal quest in origins, she’ll have revealed to the warden that, as per avvar belief, blighted bodies cannot be taken to the lady of the skies, and therefore the blighted person will wander aimlessly for eternity. on a practical level she knows this is to prevent spreading the blight; on a personal level it’s a deep and persistent fear. that fear returns during awakening. during this time, she also starts to think more about her experience at the resting place of the sacred ashes, and questioning whether or not she believes in the maker and andraste. it’s a period of serious self-evaluation.

finally, a note on my dragon age verses in general — i do have default world states and a default ship for this verse. unless we’re leaving something open for a ship to potentially develop, or i’m writing with another hero of ferelden / cousland, astoria is involved with and, by inquisition, married to ellis cousland. if not ellis, the default warden is my own — alix tabris — unless we’ve plotted otherwise, and the default hawke is also my own — amara, red warrior — unless plotted otherwise. astoria leaves hawke in the fade. i am always super open to developing ships or working with a different world state, so please don’t be shy about suggesting it! this is just a general note on this au.

#went off my adhd meds during the extended weekend cause i spent it at a uni sports competition #which means during the day i watched matches and cheered for my uni and during the night i got drunk and danced badly to music i don't like #from what i've read the meds would mess up my ability to tell when i need to stop drinking and yeah i would nawt have liked that #cause i actually pride myself in the fac that while i do get drunk and have fun i always know when to stop #like i've never in my life puked from alcohol and i almost never have hangovers the day after drinking #anyway i went off my meds and only started taking it again today so no effects yet the adhd is back full force #and honestly i wasn't too worried about this assignment cause i had to choose and comment on 3 civil law cases #each dealing with different things regarding evidence: one borrowed evidence one procuration of evidence determined by the judge #and one inversion of the onus of the evidence (with the catch of it not being a consumer relationship it had to be regulated by cpc not cdc #i had already separated each of these so i'd only have to write about them which would take what? 1 hour max? #so i started writing 21:30 pretty late considering i had almost the whole day to do it but still had a reasonable amount of time #however... as i started writing about the last one i was like hold on... and then realized i misunderstood the case and it wasn't applicabl #it was already like 22:20 by then so i scrambled to find a inversion of onus one but like ALL OF THEM ARE REGARDING CONSUMER RELATIONSHIPS! #i spent like an hour and 10 minutes trying to find one and i simply couldn't... #so i made do with a case where one part argued saying the relationship didn't fit the one described in cdc (consumer defense code) #and the judge said you can apply cdc but even if you couldn't you can apply the cpc (civil procedure code) so either way onus is inverted #and then i just pretended the whole argument was about the second point cause at that point i had like 15 min to write about it and send #did not proofread a single word idk if it's coherent or even correct but idc at least it was sent on time #and the other 2 parts are pretty well done so not too bad even if the last one is wrong #my post #anyway no classes tomorrow cause it's the day my uni was founded and they celebrate by cancelling everything so hooray
