Pains me to say it but It’s best that Gina died, the writers& Jason would have butchered her character to hate bellamy anyway just like they did with Clarke, O and even E*cho, this has nothing to do with characters but how Jason projected his personal feelings of spite onto his characters😥 Gina would have been added to that list & made ooc just like the rest of them. If she survived the series she wouldn’t have been real anymore, if that makes sense haha

Dear Yuletide Author

Dear Yuletide author,

thank you for taking the time to write for me and my tiny fandoms!! It means a lot to me that someone shares my love for them.

Here’s some additional information to (hopefully) help you. These are just some ideas that would be cool to read, but if they’re not your cup of tea, just write what inspires you!

General Information

I favour character over plot. With this I mean that I’ll barely bat an eyelash at plot inconsistencies, but an OOC character will jolt me out of the story immediately and for good. So, if you’re stuck and the idea appeals to you, you can go for a character exploration story! I really, really love to get into a character’s head. This does not mean that I wouldn’t enjoy a good plotty story if that’s your preference, because I love those too! It’s just that plot is less important to me than a good fleshed-out character.

I prefer happy or hopeful endings. There’s too much grimdark out there these days, my tolerance for it is shot and has been for a while. I do like some dark subject stories (for instance, one of my favourite series ever is the All For the Game series by Nora Sakavic) but they’re all hopeful in some way. To spell it more clearly, no Game of Thrones for me.

I do not like bashing and humiliation, of anybody, but especially of female characters. Again, too much of it everywhere.

No sex is good, non-explicit sex is good, explicit sex is good, kinky sex is good with the exception of watersports, scat and genital torture, which are huge squicks for me. Torture in general is a skip-scene for me, as is rape.

I really really like characters being kind and affectionate towards one another, whether in a platonic or romantic way. Explicit and over-the-top declarations of love do put me off, though.

Binti - Nnedi Okorafor

I loved the first Binti book, and while some aspects of Binti: Home didn’t work for me, there were some really cool concepts there too. I’m eagerly waiting for the third book.

I just really, really, really love Binti as a character and would love to read more about her. I find her love and understanding of maths and her constant desire to know more, and I respect a lot that fact that she is so dignified and humane even when faced with personal tragedy and adversity.

I found her relationship with Okwu really interesting: there’s clearly a bond there, and they also mostly respect each other’s boundaries. I can see them in a romantic relationship, but what I really like is their friendship, which I’d hate to see broken up.

Chaos Rings

I never expected to like the first Chaos Rings title as much as I do, as the entire premise (a strong, genetically blessed hetero couple needs to repopulate Earth with stronger progeny so as to defeat the Ultimate Boss) pisses me off a lot, yet the execution is good enough that it completely overruled my expectations.

Escher is a much more complex character than it appears at first and I really like that even after we find out the truth about him Musiea doesn’t automatically forgive him and needs time instead. Musiea’s thirst for revenge is also interesting considering her compassionate nature: I like that her motivation comes primarily from wanting revenge and only secondarily from pining over her childhood friend.

I do not think that in their original scenario their relationship is going to be easy: there’s too much hurt there to be overcome quickly. But they are all alone in that world, so they’re going to have to learn to deal eventually. I’d love to find out how.

If they defeat the Qualia, instead, they get thrown back in their original world…where the rest of the world as they left it is waiting. How do things unfold as hinted in the other couples’ scenario, with Escher becoming the protector of Musiea’s orphanage?

I’m eager to read some good Escher/Musiea interaction.

Wayfarers Series - Becky Chambers

I loved Ohan from the start, I resented a lot that there wasn’t more of them in the book. I mean, finally a non-binary character that does cool stuff, and they get sidelined?! Yeah, very disappointed.

Instead, as I guess I was supposed to, I did not like Corbin till the end of the book. He became mildly interesting to me when he finds out the truth about himself, but it was when I realized he’d been set up as the only person who could actually save Ohan that I instantly became a fan.

I did not, however, expect Ohan to react the way they he did.

I mean, on one hand you have the characters who actually accepted and respected Ohan’s decision despite not liking it at all and who would have let Ohan die. And on the other hand, you have a self-centered character who did not respect Ohan’s wishes in the least and saved Ohan’s life.

If we accept the words of the other saved Sianat, however, it was Ohan’s disease talking, not Ohan. If you substitute Ohan’s disease with depression, you suddenly get a different picture: the friends who would have let a depressed Ohan suicide, and the colleague who didn’t let them him.

I totally thought Ohan wouldn’t even stand Corbin’s presence afterwards, and was so surprised when we instead see them him choosing to lean on Corbin and yet not blaming their his friends.

So, what is going on in Ohan’s head? How do they does he adjust to not being a Pair anymore? Does Corbin finally get someone that accepts him, as his father did?

Basically, moar Ohan&Corbin after the events in the book is good.

Jealous Angel | Chapter 1 | MOTIVE

Around 10 AM on Day 8...

Over everyone's tablets comes a quiet announcement from Bina, who appears on the screen looking anxious. There's honestly not too much about that that's unusual. Thanks.

[♩ ♪ ♫]

"Will everyone come to the dining room, please? Thank you..."

Once congregated in the dining room, everyone sees Bina standing at the front of a table, which is lined with fourteen boxes - five white, five red, four blue. There's a imprint where a fifth blue box should be, but Bina herself is holding it - a navy blue box with an embossed ball of yarn on it.

"As mentioned when we all woke here, this is a ... competition, to figure out who the best and brightest is. Now, as no one has seen fit to..." She trails off, shudders, and goes on, "As no one has seen fit to kill anyone else yet, it seems that you shall all suffer from a motive; something to try to spur one of you to kill. Please observe."

Bina opens her box, and two small stones fly out of it, hovering around her head. One is glassy black with a stylized closed eye carved into it, while the other one is milky white with a stylized open eye carved into it. You can all hear a voice from the Open Eye stone - not Bina's, one similar to hers in accent and warmth though, noting: "You're doing very well for what you're having to do." The Closed Eye can be heard if everyone's quiet enough- "You can leave. Just leave."

Bina shakes her head at them, and touches the stones, guiding them back into her box, where they immediately quiet. "Unlike mine, yours will be talking essentially non-stop until someone murders. If you do not open your box, I will have to open it for you." She trails off, looking back at the tables.

"Please, come get your boxes."

In the realm of White... Elisabeth, with an embossed sewing machine. Kimiko, with an embossed crescent moon. Lucien, with an embossed   Midori, with an embossed Yo, with an embossed golf ball.

In the realm of Blue... Coco, with an embossed hairbrush. Jet, with an embossed paintbrush. Jinan, with an embossed punch glove. Lucian, with an embossed pair of what are fangs.

In the realm of Red... Haruka, with an embossed treasure chest. Morcades, with an embossed gavel. Ryo, with an embossed paw print. Sen, with an embossed gun. Tetsu, with an embossed knife.

The Open Eye speaks insistently but infrequently, adopting the voice of someone the student respects or is inclined to obey, and tries to guide them down a path that is morally sound. Psychologically speaking, it is the Superego. It censors itself and does not talk about things that the student would not want others to overhear.

The Closed Eye speaks constantly and in a hushed whisper, in the student's own voice, and tries to guide them towards the things that the student wants (even if they're fleeting desires). Psychologically speaking, it is the Id. It does not censor itself and frequently speaks about things that the student would likely not want others to hear.

Both stones can be overheard by other students, although the Open Eye is louder than the Closed Eye. The Open Eye is more likely to be overheard across a room, while the Closed Eye is only likely to be overheard in close quarters or where the room is otherwise silent.

Both stones seem to share your knowledge set and do not answer questions that they do not already know the answer to themselves.
