Why you should watch RWBY
TL;DR:
Summary: RWBY is an epic fantasy with themes like found family, the struggle to remain hopeful, the younger generation growing up, villain redemption, and systemic evils.
Strengths: RWBY has unique and memorable characters. The show is smart. It has excellent cinematography and animation. It has representation. It tackles hard topics. It’s got incredible music and it’s free on RT’s website.
Weaknesses: RWBY has some early growing pains, specifically volume 2’s finale, as well as budget and polish. Later on, volume 4 is weaker than the rest. Volume 8's finale is extremely distressing for a lot of viewers (and we haven't seen the follow up to those events yet). The fandom can be bad at times.
Misinformation: The early volumes being bad, the racism plot line, and the animation (not the same as “budget and polish”) are not as bad as you may have heard from YouTube.

(I did my best to make this spoiler-free. When there are spoilers, they’re worded ambiguously enough that someone new to the show would never guess what’s going to happen just by reading this.)
What to expect
The world of Remnant is filled with monsters called the creatures of Grimm. Warriors called Huntsmen and Huntresses defend humanity. Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang go to school to become the next generation of heroes. Together they make Team RWBY (pronounced, “Ruby”)! Joining them is team JNPR (“Juniper”), made up of Jaune, Nora, Pyrrha, and Ren. But evils even more dangerous than the Grimm are ready to make their move, and school quickly becomes an afterthought…
(I mention these next two topics specifically bc they can immediately turn someone away based on bad expectations.) There is a fantasy school setting, but RWBY is not a show about school. School topics are not a dominant idea: it seems to resemble a setting like Harry Potter, but the actual focus of the show rarely touches on things like classes or homework or tests, and we quickly move on. There is romance and it has a role in the plot, but RWBY is not a romance show. On the scale of romance in FMAB to She-Ra, RWBY falls somewhere in the middle.
What is RWBY about, then? RWBY is like an epic fantasy or high fantasy, despite first appearances. Perhaps not every genre convention is followed, but at its core, RWBY is about an epic struggle of good and evil.
RWBY contains themes such as found family, the struggle to remain hopeful, the younger generation growing up, villain redemption, and systemic evils.
Strengths of the show
The characters are unique and memorable. One of the cool things is that they all draw inspiration from a real life fairy tale, myth, or something else. They designs are all top notch. One character who died with extremely little screen time even got so much fandom love, they included the character in a mid-hiatus short later. The characters have unique weapons, too; in the world of Remnant, a weapon is an extension of ones’ soul, and they reflect the variety of their owners. They’re also just plain cool; Monty was famous for following the “Rule of Cool.” And their individual stories are all compelling and interesting.
The show is smart. As a fandom, we generally pick up on the narrative hints the creators are dropping. And our predictions usually come true, but not in a way that makes the show predictable and boring. We very rarely guess exactly what will happen, but we have some similar idea of it. It’s just excellent foreshadowing.
RWBY also likes to play with tropes, as an extension of this. Often it will challenge them, or subvert expectations. In other cases, RWBY uses tropes to avoid showing us what we already know will happen. This occurs in both characters and plot. For example…
SLIGHT SPOILERS FOR VOLUME ONE FOR THE REST OF THIS PARAGRAPH: Jaune’s entire character arc is about trying to be the anime protagonist, and learning that he doesn’t have to do things alone, and it’s ok to be a support main. The show sets up the narrative in a way that looks like, oh of course the direction it will go is him becoming the main character, but then it destroys toxic masculinity instead.
Our characters are smart, too. Plot-induced stupidity generally doesn’t happen. (A few big mistakes or errors in this regard aren’t actually the fault of the narrative, either, but animation and miscommunication and failure to execute. And those aren’t common.) It goes beyond just “not being dumb,” however. The villains’ plans are incredibly clever, and our heroes sometimes even guess at the usual “plot twists.”
The cinematography is just incredible. There are numerous freeze frames with extreme attention to detail that reveal character motivations or arcs or foreshadowing, there are many effective cuts and moving parts, there are soooo many parallels and callbacks, and visual cues such as lighting and color all are used appropriately to convey emotion and assist the narrative. It is one of the biggest overlooked strengths of the show, imo, simply because a lot of people in the fandom don’t notice these things as much for whatever reason, or else don’t give as much praise about them.
The animation is extremely good as well. Budget issues and technology issues aside (which means a lack of polish), the actual animation? The fight choreography, and all the other parts of animation that aren’t just “expensive CGI” are all wonderful. You can have very shiny, polished turds after all, and RWBY is like the opposite: not very polished, especially early on, but very well animated. All the trailers, volume 1 episode 8, the volume 1 finale, the volume 2 penultimate episode, and basically everything else hold up extremely well even today. If anything, the worst fight animation was in volumes 4 and 5 because of Maya growing pains, and those are an example of being more polished, but not necessarily better animated. Animation of faces has always been good, animation of characters has always felt lively. Aside from a few small actual hiccups (that one person running across rooftops for instance), it’s well done.
There are LGBTQ+ characters. The treatment of one of the recent trans characters, in volume 8, was nothing short of amazing. They worked with a VA who was trans. The moment of canon confirmation was important to the character for backstory, because of course that affects the character’s life, but not the only important thing about the character. The representation is not in-your-face or pandering. And there is a split of representation among the main cast and the minor characters, with promises of more to come (notably they’ve said they’re working on more mlm for future volumes, too).
RWBY is not afraid to tackle hard topics. It deals with things like mental illness, systematic racism, and cycles of abuse. It’s not because the show is trying to earn “gritty and dark” points, it’s because those are some of the topics that real people have to struggle with as well. And the show handles most or all of them very well, in a way that shows respect and an honest attempt to depict these things as best they can. (NOTE ABOUT VOLUME 8: THERE IS A VERY DIFFUCLT CONVERSATION CURRENTLY HAPPENING. I am on the side of, let’s wait and see what happens next because the story isn’t over, so we haven’t really seen the fall out. But I understand why this paragraph feels really difficult to agree with if you've seen the volume 8 finale. I trust the track record of the rest of the show, personally.)
As an example, the show has a theme that villains are rarely evil just because. A lot of villains choose to do bad things because they were hurt in some way. Some lived in poverty; some were hurt by racism; many of them are victims of abuse. But the show doesn’t make excuses for them. It’s possible to be both sympathetic and still choose evil over and over again (that’s called tragic). The ones who eventually do try to do good again are not always forgiven, either.
The music is amazing. I can probably count on my hands the number of times I’ve heard someone say otherwise, which is astonishing when you consider this fandom.
It’s also free on RT’s website. (A paid, “FIRST” subscription removes ads and lets you see new episodes one week early, but they all eventually release for free.)
Weaknesses of the show
Early volumes’ growing pains exist, much like most or all other shows. (Even some of the greatest were not immune to this, like ATLA.) In this case, however, it’s a little bit rougher. A large reason why is that this was kind of the first big thing from RT to ever come out. If you remember back almost a decade ago, their only other big thing at the time was RvB, which was machinima. They pretty much started from scratch with everything, from assets to VAs to animation to writing. Imagine if a random twitch streamer, like Ninja (idk who’s popular these days) said one day, “OK let me just direct something that’s intended to be the next great movie series of all time, like Star Wars, with a $4 bill and an iPhone camera.” Then went out and actually made something. Of course it would be rough…but then it turns out the movie is actually really good. And then you get to watch over the next several years as everything gets better and better until it’s honest-to-god comparable to the MCU. That’s kind of what happened with RWBY.
One specific growing pain was the volume 2 finale. Pretty much everything else up until that point, I love about the show. But the finale just fails to deliver on the build up of tension from other episodes. Some of it is because of later plot developments that we didn’t know at the time; some of it is because of just not great writing; some of it is because of just not great animation; and yes, some of it is budget. Regardless, it’s a low point for the show.
Speaking of, the budget for the early volumes is super small. The infamous volume one shadow people, the infamous person jumping across the rooftops in volume two, and just production quality isn’t high compared to a major release from some established studio. These are real weaknesses of the show that for some people, make it unwatchable, and if that’s you, that’s ok.
One last weakness of the show, the screen time per episode, especially early on, is NOT a full 20 minutes like you may expect of an anime (or anime-inspired-western-media, for those of you who will die on the “RWBY is not an anime” hill). This is a trend that has stuck with the show, a shorter run time per episode, for generally the entire lifetime. On one hand, it means it’s a little less daunting to catch up or rewatch than the number of episodes might imply. On the other, early on, some episodes have a little weird pacing. It also means the writing had to adjust for this, so while RWBY got really good at telling a story within a shorter amount of time, there’s also challenges with that too. Perhaps one of the notable ones is the pacing, with slower moments sometimes feeling like it takes up too much screen time, or not enough. Volume 4 was a particular struggle for the crew, both because they switched animation engines and also for the story.
Common complaints that I don’t agree with
I don’t agree that the early volumes were actually bad overall. Growing pains, yes, but not bad. I attribute that complaint to overly focusing on one character’s storyline, back when it wasn’t clear there was so much more to come and before people realized the show would challenge the tropes instead of falling into them. It’s pretty much just volume 1 when people say this anyway, most of them I’ve heard admit that volume 2 was a lot better (except the finale) and almost everyone loves volume 3. And looking back on it, I do think volume 1 holds up.
Tying into this, the racism plot line is another common complaint. I don’t think it’s actually executed quite that badly. I think it makes sense for there to be regional differences in the amount of racism we see, it just so happened that we only saw a very small and isolated environment, Beacon, for much of the early volumes. (Incidentally, that’s actually similar the environment I myself grew up in.) It’s not perfect, though. But there’s no doubt that the later volumes do a better job portraying this. Again, I attribute it mostly to people not knowing how long the show would run for at the time, so of course if that’s all we saw, it would’ve been bad. But it’s not. I have a lot of respect for Miles and Kerry for even attempting to handle the racism topic in the first place. And for the faults that DO exist in this plot line, I credit them for learning and growing past that too, and doing better in later volumes.
The animation is not bad. I’ve already touched on that earlier, but people confuse “budget and polish” with “animation.” Give me RWBY any day over Michael Bay’s Transformers: no matter how much polish those robots have, they’re still a confusing mess to try and follow. And the polish isn’t even an issue once we get past the growing pains of Maya and get a bigger budget, because wow does this show look good now.
Between these three complaints I hear about often, I think those are the biggest ones. And they’re all generally done in bad faith, based not on just those but on other more provocative statements people also make with them. That’s part of my issue with the fandom, specifically the vocal but small parts of the fandom, because they’re just repeating these things from early days that aren’t true. But YouTubers gotta get those rage and hate clicks somehow, right? Unfortunately it discredits the show a lot and influences other people’s opinions into not giving it a fair chance, because it’s become a narrative of “RWBY IS BAD” when they all won’t shut up about it. So yeah, fandom can be bad, join at your own discretion. (Of course, all fandoms have annoying parts, and my interactions with the fandom have been good overall, otherwise.)
Onto other complaints, some say the cast is bloated. I don’t agree, but I don’t think this one is in bad faith. I think we get the important characters as much screen time as we can, and the minor characters don’t actually detract from that; one of the differences between good minor characters and bad ones, is that bad ones take up too much time. RWBY has a ton of characters but many of the minor ones don’t actually take up too much time. So it appears bloated, but actually I don’t think it is.
Finally, a small word on the no-no topics. Adam, and Monty. Adam is like the champion of the Monty topic. Which essentially boils down to “Miles and Kerry are ruining Monty’s vision for the show.” Toxic fandom is truly awful and I have no respect for anyone who says anything like that. Shame on all of you. This isn’t really anything negative about the show, but the fandom, and tbf all fandoms have toxic parts. But toxic fandom can be a real and valid reason to not watch a show. Thankfully they seem fewer in number these days, but I think they’ve evolved into hiding behind other characters or topics, so you know. Beware. Again, it's not too hard to avoid them or block them, and my interactions otherwise with most fans have been good.

F/O list
It has occurred to me that maybe I need a post version so I can link back to it for mobile.... So here's a basic copyedit of the desktop page. I apologize for the blown up icons. I have tried different ways to make this post and alas, it will only show up blown up. ....no wonder everyone is making carrds or other outside pages
Main F/O forever and ever is Lance from Pokemon.
Tumblr media
It’s been about… 18 years??? long time. A very long time. And only recently has TPC/Game Freak been feeding us Lance fans some very good content. bless pokemon masters. His tags are #my champion, #notes from my champion, #notes from my husband, #notes to my champion, #notes to my husband, among a handful of others. Because we've been together for so long, I'm not comfortable sharing him, but it doesn't mean I won't interact! It'll just feel weird seeing shippy stuff with others ._.;
I have some familial f/os, though the idol kids are more like “best girl/best boy” and I don’t have an self-insert or interactions with them, to be honest. But I’ll proudly post about them and gush over how precious they are.
Speaking of the kids, here are MINE. I love these kids so much and they mean so much to me and bring me so much joy to see and light and I can't even begin to words how important they all are towards my happiness, so you'll just have to look in their tags and see.
Tumblr media
Otoya is my most precious idol son, i love him so much, i have so many pins and an itabag for him. pls do not harm the sunshine or i will not like you. at all. eiichi. His tag is "my idol son"
Tumblr media
Rin is also my most precious idol girl! She’s super energetic and ADHD and basically her and Otoya are practically the same person. Both super sunshiny idol kids who brighten my day! Her tag is "nyan daughter"
Tumblr media
Nozomi is actually more like a little sister to me, even though she’s the Big Sister of the group! She likes to tease the others sometimes, but she’ll also offer advice to the group when its needed, and guided μ’s together from the shadow. She also reads tarot! Her tag is getting changed from “nozo daughter” to “nozo sister”.
Tumblr media
Mari! I just vibe with her. Also the whole pretends everything is okay and tries to be super cheery and obnoxiously shiny. Plus, we both like metal. I love her and I feel for her okay??? Her tag is "shiny daughter"
Tumblr media
Hanamaru too! she was the first aqours girl i liked, bc we’re both bookworms, and then she fell out as mari fell in (and the anime reduced her to zuramaru and *judges yoshiko*), but she’s fallen back in the more i see of her in the mobile game and in general! and i realize that we both aren’t the fit type but if she can do all the idol stuff then maybe one day I can too!! i forgot her tag, it might have been "zura daughter" or "book daughter"
Tumblr media
I love all these girls and Rin and Mari tend to be the top two bestest girls. as a result of them being the high energy cheerful type, I’m anticipating that Ai will be my best Nijigasaki girl. so far, yes. Her tag is "aidol daughter".
Tumblr media
Caulifla and Cabba are my saiyan kids but honestly i forget about cabba a lot whenever i try to list my son(s). their tag is “my saiyan children”, as i cba to make separate tags for them when I don’t come across posts of them as much anymore
I’m sure there’s others that I’m forgetting, but those are the main ones. I also sometimes reblog my friends’ fave llsif girls under “#tomato niece” “#rice niece” “#rubesty niece” “#buubuu niece” and "#mermaid niece". I’ll add links later . I also group the girls and otoya under the tag “my idol children”
There’s also my Pokemon family to consider, as I’ve come to realize that it’s more than just my husband!
Tumblr media
This is my bratty stepson, Silver. He’s more Lance’s kid than mine. We snark at each other a lot, and there’s not much a “push come to shove” level of care between the two of us so much as “Lance would be disappointed in us if we let anything happen to the other”. But he’s grown a lot since Lance took him under his cape wing, and has become much better liked, even at the Dragon Clan. His tag is “Tsundere Stepson”
Tumblr media
My cousin-in-law on Lance’s side, Clair. She doesn’t like me, like, at all. It wasn’t until our mid-twenties that she started to calm down on the major dislike she held for me. She felt it unfair that I wasn’t being held up to the same standards that Lance expects from her, and held it against me, though she’d never openly say why. Just a simple “I don’t like her!”, followed up by her searching for excuses when asked why. We still aren’t friends, and aren’t the first person the other would turn to, but we can tolerate being around each other. She’ll only do favors for/with me if Lance is the person asking her to help. Her tag is “Tsundere Cousin”
Tumblr media
Miss Honey, from SwSh’s Isle of Armor! She’s so amazing, so pretty, and SUCH A GOOD MOM. She helps take care of the Dojo and its students, she used to be the CEO of a trading firm, AND she will kick your ass. She also helps the students’ mental/emotional health, she’s just so caring and kind and SUCH A GOOD MOM. did i mention she’s a good mom? because she’s my mom. Her tag is “Kickass Mom”
Tumblr media
Cynthia is a friend!!! I’d say from.... was it 16 that DP came out stateside? Anyhoo she’s a very lovely person, can be pretty wise, definitely a fellow ADHDer, we get along about myths and can hyperfixate on those a lot, and she’s a good role model/big sister-type friend! She’s very helpful to those that ask for or need her assistance. also she shipped me and lance and stuck her nose into helping move that along but that’s another topic for another day . She doesn’t have a unique tag yet; it’s currently “cynthia tag tbd”
Lastly.... Moving out of Pokemon and onto the last member of my familial f/os
Tumblr media
Say hello to my Grandpa Nevin. He is an old dragon and an outlier and should not be counted a very wise old man. He has so much wisdom and importance to me (and Chise) that I don’t think I would have enjoyed the series or cried as much as I have without him. He’s so very very wise and important. I don’t know what else to say, man. He’s just says important things that hit right to the heart. A different outlook on things, a way to make you rethink. His nickname for me would be something like “Teller of Tales” or something that alludes to me being a writer. He doesn’t have a tag yet.
Uncategorized: sometimes boogiepop is here and I’m not entirely sure why beyond “I strongly feel a connection to it”. Please behold the original cosmic enbity:
Tumblr media
Anyways, that’s all! Thanks for getting through this list!

Do you think book!Bran will get the same ending he does in the show? I mean, if he does, it will obviously be better written (I was like "Does Edmure know about the Three-Eyed Raven? Is Yara going 'the hell did you smoke' at the 'he couldn't walk so he learned to fly' part? Is nobody going to go 'ok but shouldn't we look for someone older and better known through Westeros, with experience in both politics and military stuff' at Tyrion?" through the whole scene), but do you think that's that?
(I had another anon that went like:
i can't believe there are still bran is evil theories. im pretty sure that bran ending up on the throne is likely bc it doesn't make sense in the show. d&d don't know anything about bran, but they do know this is george's ending
so I’m answering both XD)
the short answer is yes, but obviously it’s not gonna be written the same way as in this dumbass show for a whole lot of reasons.
now: actually, bran on the throne makes in hindsight a whole lot of sense...... if you take into account also what tropes he’s there to deconstruct. (I’m gonna cp some older meta of mine on the topic that I did ages ago but it still holds up lol.)
as in, when it comes to bran GENERALLY:
bran is the first pov chapter in these books. the first. should hint that he’s important;
bran  has 90% of the magic-related storyline. I mean, if you don’t count the dragons/r’hollor + mel and the AA prophecy, there’s less magic in asoiaf than in regular fantasy for obvious reasons, but what there is of is all in bran’s storyline. all. of. it;
as it is right now, he’s arguably a powerhouse. possibly the most powerful powerhouse in westeros. he can probably warg dragons. he can time travel. if the show didn’t fuck it up, he can change things in the past while time traveling even if he shouldn’t;
the entire storyline is headed north/behind the wall and bran is the one main character who’s behind the wall rn. and bran is at a point where he basically is in direct connection with the north at least and when I say direct I mean literally. the guy can warg into anything. maybe he can’t walk but man he’s basically a hundred luke skywalkers put into one person;
he’s also tied to all the northern mythology - the trees, the children of the forest and the likes. him, his storyline, everything. and the north is arguably where this story started and will most probably end and he is the character more symbolizing that mythology, not anyone else.
when it comes to bran thematically.... guys. bran is the deconstructed fisher king. as in: the fisher king is a character from arthurian mythology who is absolutely fundamental in the entire scheme - also arthurian mythology is one of the basis people built modern fantasy on - and which has been rehashed and reinterpreted for a shitload of times since the middle ages. c/p-ing quickly from wiki because you don’t need to go in-depth to do 2+2 on this:
In Arthurian legend the Fisher King, or the Wounded King, is the last in a long line charged with keeping the Holy Grail. Versions of his story vary widely, but he is always wounded in the legs or groin and incapable of moving on his own. In the Fisher King legends, he becomes impotent and unable to perform his task himself, and he also becomes unable to father or support a next generation to carry on after his death. His kingdom suffers as he does, his impotence affecting the fertility of the land and reducing it to a barren wasteland. All he is able to do is fish in the river near his castle, Corbenic, and wait for someone who might be able to heal him.
+Many works have two wounded “Grail Kings” who live in the same castle, a father and son (or grandfather and grandson). The more seriously wounded father stays in the castle, sustained by the Grail alone, while the more active son can meet with guests and go fishing.+The Fisher King appears first in Chrétien de Troyes’ Perceval (late 12th-century), but the character’s roots may lie in Celtic mythology. He may be derived more or less directly from the figure of Bran the Blessed (!!!!!!) in the Mabinogion. In the Second Branch, Bran has a cauldron that can resurrect the dead (albeit imperfectly; those thus revived cannot speak) which he gives to the king of Ireland as a wedding gift for him and Bran’s sister Branwen. +The Lancelot-Grail cycle includes a more elaborate history for the Fisher King. Many in his line are wounded for their failings, and the only two that survive to Arthur’s day are the Wounded King, called Pellam or Pellehan, and the Fisher King, Pelles.
now, what I said last year in that meta was:
then there’s the entire part where galahad (or whoever else in his stead but it’s galahad most times) heals the fisher king and saves the land which turns fertile again, but whatever, point is: asoiaf is a deconstruction of tropes, right, well sorry but I’m eating my own hat if bran isn’t a fisher king deconstruction where the wound actually makes him powerful rather than weak and where he definitely won’t need anyone to *heal* him, while at the same time he is tied with the (his) land directly and he embodies it and most of the magic storyline. and the fisher king is one of the main tropes/legends in western literature/arthurian mythology, if you have that kind of character in your book then you are not planning for them to be a second-rate player.
now, admittedly back then I was envisioning a finale when bran was either king in the north or in some similar position and not as endgame king but if we take the show finale for granted because as the other anon said it made no sense for d&d but it was george’s ending and they had to make it happen without understanding it.... well. actually:
if bran - ie deconstructed fisher king who becomes powerful because of his wound and doesn’t have to be healed by a knight to make the land fertile again because that wound gives him power - becomes actual eventual king it’s the full circle of that trope’s deconstruction because his wound means the eventual salvation of the entire continent, which works perfectly to bookmark how that specific scenario is turned on its head;
the problem is that d&d can’t write bran for shit and turned him into the heartless robot/3ER who might or might not have schemed the entire thing and didn’t make him do shit for three seasons because they can’t handle the magic storyline and then at the ending mAGICALLY we have king bran first of his name, but in a coherent version done by grrm and not by themwhere bran has his eye-opening experience beyond the wall, doesn’t magically lose his personality when he becomes the 3ER, keeps his sweetness and empathy after risking to lose them (which was his adwd storyline), helps greatly during the long night thanks to the fact that he’s a powerhouse and is eventually recognized as a savior of the realm in its own merit, then......... it’s actually very much coherent with grrm’s themes to have him become king, but not because he knew all along and played mysterious until now and whatever the fuck else, but because it’s the coronation of his entire storyline which starts with sweet young boy who just wants to be a hedge knight and then ends up saving the entire continent making the best use of what he has after that’s taken from him while using his connection to the magic roots of the story/to his land/to his family for the good of the entire realm, and that was a damn good story - sadly it’s not what d&d chose to tell except at the end;
edmure and yara were badly written but that entire scene was badly written and well-acted sadly, like no one objected because no one will object in the book storyline, given that ^^^^ happens, in the show they just basically tried to find a way to make it halfway plausible but it looks dumb because it’s badly written and it’s copypasting an endgame for a story that d&d have not adapted, but basically you had to buy that bran was it. it made no sense but like... what made sense, this episode’s salvation was the acting and that since the endgame was half grrm’s it wasn’t as shitty as 8x05 but like within itself it was incoherent af;
that said I think that bran being king + the small council being more or less what it was in the show (because LIKE HELL that’s brienne’s endgame like brienne is def. not going into any kingsguard in the books unless george smoked weed when he was writing acok/asos/affc) as in made of all discriminated categories in westeros or discriminated people in westeros after the throne’s destruction is absolutely a thing grrm would do, because basically we’ve gone from badly suited kings with a small council that’s basically the westeros equivalent of old white republican men to a realm where the king can’t walk (but can fly! ;) ) and the rest of the small council is a) a disabled man who’s been abused to hell and back all his life (REGARDLESS OF TYRION’S FAULTS let’s just look at the strict facts here), b) a former commoner who has been a lord for years but couldn’t read when the series began (davos), c) another former commoner (bronn) [note that both davos and bronn are former *criminals*/come from a really poor background, not from the wealthy side of the commoners], d) a woman who is also a knight ie something that pretty much disregards the entire status quo from before (brienne), e) sam who let’s all remember is a noble but was sent to the wall by his father because his skills were in his brain and not with swords/fighting/whatnot and who also was abused to hell and back when he was young - like, both the only nobles in it that were born nobles were disadvantaged and felt that on their own skin so they aren’t out of touch with the rest of the continent (sam was at the WALL where the only nobles go there for lack of options but it’s basically a glorified prison X°DDD). like, that is an ending I can absolutely see grrm going for because it’s basically the revenge of our forgotten-from-s1-and-dnd cripples, bastards and broken things that start the show the way they do and end it on top of things. that is absolutely a thing I can see grrm doing (with some changes bc again I reallydoubt the books small council would include bronn and brienne). the problem is that d&d wrote it like crap.
but bran becoming king and that being the general idea? I absolutely can see it same as while I was on team jon gets the throne and hates it before if this is how it goes... well, since I’ve been saying that if he wanted to be happy he should have just gone back beyond the wall if that is his actual endgame I have no issues with it. hell, it’s way better than the one I had envisioned for him for that matter.
that said bran being evil is a theory that makes no sense, it’s just that d&d can’t write him and they managed to make him look like an ass if we assume he knew everything from before. but like. it’s them being unable to write that story, not the story in itself being invalid or making no sense, because with the book elements we have.... it makes a hell of a lot of sense.
they just had to write it and they didn’t.

Sarada’s Sharingan | Boruto Theory
 heres a theory about Sarada, cuz duh mate, i idolize her. shes a cute tsun-tsun, and has much potential. sorry if theres like spelling mistakes, not grammar. i may use grammar in some sentences, some not. please like if you enjoyed~
Most of this is from Quora, paraphrased and applied to this theory subject. This covers her cannon MS design, what triggers her MS, and evolution.
PS: THIS WILL COVER A LOT WITH SASUKE AND ITACHI, DON’T GET MAD PLS BC OF HOW MUCH INFO IM SAYING ABOUT EM
PS 2.0: THIS WILL COVER THINGS ABOUT SAKURA AND uhh DEATH DON’T GET OFFENDED I LUV HER 2 BUT
Now, now. Here’s just basically random things about Sarada’s sharingan. Let’s start with... What is the Sharingan?
Sharingan is developed when an Uchiha member experiences a powerful emotion (about a person close to them). During this emotional moment the brain releases a special form of chakra that affects the optic nerves and transforms the eye into the Sharingan.

Evolution
So. Her evolution of the Sharingan. From now, (ep 90) we still only had one tomoe. She should atleast have two, in my opinion. Too bad, though. Sasuke Uchiha, awakened double tomoe when he was fighting Haku. Would they be able to unlock their second tomoe when under stress, and saving someone they are really close to? Haku appeared episode nine from the original Naruto series, which is really fast for Sasuke to get double-tomoe. But then again, Sasuke unlocked his sharingan in a very young age. He unlocked second tomoe in his right eye first. Example:
Tumblr media
It is unclear when we see his left eye unlock it, but just know that it’s one eye first after another.
So basically, here’s a list when we see his Sharingan unlock.
One tomoe:
He unlocked during the Uchiha massacre.
Double tomoe:
On the Great Naruto Bridge, part I of Haku and Zabuza.
Three tomoe:
Fighting Naruto at the Final Valley of the End.
I’ve been noticing a pattern, here. You first unlock the Sharingan when experiencing a great and intense emotion. For Sarada, it was seeing her dad for the first time. The double tomoe, you unlock protecting someone close to you, or INTENSE training. Triple tomoe, you unlock fighting the person who was close to you.
Let’s compare this to Itachi.  When Team 2 was given the task of guarding the Fire Daimyō, the company was attacked by Obito. Tenma attacked Obito and was killed in the fight. This emotional moment caused Itachi to awaken his Sharingan. Credit to Henmath Mouthkiri on Quora. :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was on episode 453: The Pain of Living. It can also be retrieved in itachi Shinden: Book of Bright Light.  I’m not too sure on him getting his second tomoe, and third tomoe. But, we do know how he got his Mangekyo Sharingan. Probably, just witnessing Shisui's death to protect the village was traumatic enough for Itachi to awaken his Mangekyou. Itachi, the only person I know so far to manifest two tomoe in one go, was a deep thinker. The death of his teammates and his will to do something about it though his friends were already dead made him desperate. But his will against the desperation held on due to his inquisitive nature (by which he kept himself inside the desparation long enough to generate enough of the unique chakra) and he managed to unlock enough power for the two tomoe sharingan. It can be that this is how an Uchiha is able to contain and harness the power of the Sharingan. Credit to JNat on Animestackexhange :) Credit to Tehol Beddict on Quora, too!
All in all, Sarada will get double tomoe, soon. But don’t get your hopes high in case that doesn’t happen in the few next episodes.
Mangekyou Sharingan
How will Sarada Uchiha retrieve the Mangekyou Sharingan? It’s like experiencing unlocking the Sharingan but the trauma is 10x more. Sasuke unlocked Mangekyo Sharingan by witnessing Itachi’s death. Even though he didn’t murder him, Itachi died of tuberculosis or lung cancer. Same with Itachi, he witnessed Shisui’s suicide. Itachi was a deep thinker, so no wonder he’d get his double-tomoe in one go, and Mangekyou Sharingan. Itachi lost everyone, and so did Sasuke. Sasuke couldn’t get Mangekyou because of how young he was, and he would have that much chakra prepared for the doujutsu. Many theorists believe that Sarada will fight Boruto, I don’t think so. They don’t have a rivalry like Sasuke and Naruto. They have a protection relationship, and which is “I want to get stronger for I can protect you.” Either Sasuke or Sakura will die for Sarada, to get her MS. Naruto is out of the question, since he will be training Kawaki, he won’t be Sarada’s mentor. Please note, not every Uchiha needs to experience death, I want to see somethign creative and peaceful for Sarada to push aside all the hatred, but hey! This is just a theory. :) And, she’d just awaken it by strong feelings, like Obito. He didn’t lose anyone, but just his emotions.
Sasuke
First of all.. look at Boruto.
Tumblr media
Besides the fact that Boruto is fine ;) look at everything. Now, this is one of the most obvious theories.. but look.
Boruto has the following from his master, Sasuke..
Kusanagi
Cloak
Headband
Now, it would be reasonable if Sasuke gave Boruto his headband. Like in the Momoshiki Arc, I can see that. But his weapon? His cape? Hmm? Be reasonable, look. The sword he has had since a teen? His cloak that hides his arms, and his headband is ok. I personally, don’t think Sasuke will die. Kishi will lose about 80% of the fanbase if Sasuke dies. (i’d stay tho :) ). In my opinion, the flashforward is bait. I have some pictures on what Kishi has drewn himself for promotional pictures of Sarada grown up. She has an MS, if you were wondering. ;)
I couldn’t find much and think about the rest, but Sakura has a big way up ahead.
Sakura
Tumblr media
Most definitely. She will die in my opinion, for Sarada to move on. It’s not because I hate her, but this is one reason on how I imagine Sarada getting her Sharingan upgraded. Why, though?
Sakura is irrelevent in Boruto now. She isn’t a main character anymore, she doesn’t play a role.
We all know Sarada and Sakura’s relationship. Sakura even raised her by herself. Sakura is a amazing opportunity. Also, her death will not only be amazing for Sarada’s development.. but her relationship with Sasuke, too. Wouldn’t it be interesting to see Sarada start falling in the Curse of Hatred by that and Sasuke stepping in to help her not commit all the sins and mistakes he did? Or, what about Sarada accusing him o fhis own wife’s death and not being sad, or feel any emotion for it? Massive chances are at stake here by this single event, which is by a character we don’t use anymore. As much as I love Sakura, and would most likely cry to see her die, this is an amazing opportunity. I know, you’re sad too. Kishi claimed that in Boruto, no older gen characters are safe from death. He also claimed it will get a LOT darker, and may be no happy ending. Let’s continue on.
Finally, because of the cause of Sakura’s death, we could actually see her fighting again, some spotlight on her. She hasn’t gotten some lately, besides Sasori and Shin. She was used as a chakra batter for Obito, getting a single hit in Kaguya or bursting some Juubi fodder won’t count, let’s try to see something special for her, and only her. She had a big fighting will in part one, but now she’s just a housewife.
Overall, I see Sakura with the biggest potential of  her death. Sasuke is too important to die like that yet, but someone needs a boost for Sarada for her sweet, sweet, lovely, Uchiha porwerup. There are too many doors open for her death. There’s no risk involved, also.

Now, let’s see some pictures.
Kishimoto hints
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sasuke will take the ‘Jiraiya’ role, in that case, he’s too important to kill of like I’ve stated before.
However, while Jiraiya died around two thirds into the story, I simply can’t see Sasuke getting rid of, at least not that early. And its important to note here that if this were to happen, it would HAVE to happen somewhere relatively early, though we’ll get to that soon enough.
The fact is that he’s just too strong. A threat able to defeat someone of his level would be well beyond the main characters’ abilities as things are now and anywhere in the nearby future as a matter of fact. Furthermore if he were to be killed, that would cause all hell to break loose way too early. The logical next step after all is for Naruto himself to step in, as he’s the only one strong enough to take on someone at that level.
But then what? Have Naruto killed by the same threat? No…it does build this threat up a lot, but its basically the same thing twice. What about having Naruto defeat the threat? Again, no, that doesn’t work. It would make Sasuke’s death seem pointless and drive away attention from the new generation.
The point I’m getting at is that Sasuke’s death at any early point in the story would just be playing one’s cards too soon, especially at the sole benefit of Sarada. It leaves little leeway for the plot to move on and more so complicates things than builds them up.
All of this was retrieved from Ian Schumann on Quora, that’s why you see block-quotes around. Sasuke is too important to kill off.
Blindness
Now, if Sarada got MS, would she get blind? Well, Sarada has glasses, which can somewhat help her but I doubt it. Sasuke could either take her to where he kept his eyes. To swap them out, but she’d need MS that time. (Also supports how Sakura’s part would come in play). This is a short concept, because not much evidence will be supported but, will edit when I think of a good theory!~

Hey, personal Q but may I ask why you’ve had a somewhat hard time being an atheist in Italy? Is it bc your family is really religious? Is it bc you’ve encountered a lot of older Italians like Italian professors or your Italian work colleagues? Bc I know tons of Italian atheists (all over Italy, in Sicily, Veneto, Naples, Florence etc,) and none of them had a problem w it not even with their families, they’re all fairly young 16-22 but yeah they’ve not even faced remarks from their old relatives.
hahahahahahahaha
*clears throat*
my immediately close family is thankfully not religious, or better: my parents are both atheists and haven’t baptized me or anything and on my dad’s side my aunt is somewhat practicing and no one else does or cares. on my mom’s side though everyone in the older generation is and like I didn’t have issues because of that per se, but in order (count that I live in *rome* which means there’s the vatican beyond the corner):
my grandmother has I think gotten it but once in a while the immortal ‘I hope you convert because I don’t want you to go to hell’ shows up again and good luck explaining her that the last three popes at least said that it’s not a guarantee, and I’ve had endless discussion with one great-aunt on the topic but that’s minimal;
the problem is everything else ie: when I was like, seven or eight and I didn’t take religion classes people tended to look at you weird because hOW ARE YOU NOT BAPTIZED AND HOW DO YOU NOT GO TO CATECHISM WAIT YOU AREN’T GETTING SACRAMENTS????, which ended up in two fairly crappy years when I was... 8-10 yo I think where I felt like shit for not fitting in and I actually actively tried to buy it and I wanted to be baptized THANK FUCK MY PARENTS DIDN’T LET ME DO IT or I’d have sorely regretted it and I felt like a complete idiot because I didn’t really feel it but I thought I was supposed to, and meanwhile I was taking the infamous religion classes in elementary school and man it was not a good idea let me tell you;
anyway at that point I pretty much made up my mind and realized it was Not My Thing and that I wasn’t a spiritual person in the slightest and so I went into middle school not taking the religion classes (it’s one hour per week at every level of obligatory school but you can opt out of it) and I spent three lovely years with my italian teacher (the main one) talking about how I should try to take them/*try religion out*/’but why are you assuming you KNOW EVERYTHING WITHOUT HAVING TRIED’ in front of the entire class which was part of a series of things that lovely woman ended up doing which eventually caused me a shitload of issues in the long run, I always stood my ground, she didn’t quit until I sent my father to tell her to do it. I took alternative classes every time but I was the only person in the school and most teachers I ended up with were pissed off because they had to do something with me rather than having their free hour, every time I got asked if I was jewish/buddhist/muslim/WHATEVER otherwise why wouldn’t I take the religion class? I replied that I was atheist, I always got ‘oh but then why don’t you try it out?’
yeah, I did, didn’t work, thanks.
anyway, that was the reaction I got half of the time I told people older than thirty. and it was good because other than that I’ve had people straight up ask me the following ie: ‘but how do you live without the knowledge god’s over there’, ‘how do you get out of bed in the morning’, ‘so you think stealing and killing people is okay???’, ‘but why don’t you believe in god’, a question that whenever answered truthfully caused in 99% of the cases people getting offended and calling me an asshole when they asked it first, and on top of that if I ask that question to someone it’s passed as rude, if the contrary it’s ‘just curiosity’;
when it came to people my age it was better, but once I had to hear from a fairly close friend when I was like sixteen ‘I was thinking about it and I’m pretty sure you’re obsessed with singers because you’re atheist and YOU HAVE TO FILL THE HOLE INSIDE YOU THAT IS THERE BECAUSE YOU DON’T HAVE GOD TO FILL IT FOR YOU’ and like yeah okay sure bro no;
on top of that, I had another friend (PAST) who... let’s just say that he’s an eight on the kinsey scale but at some point got really hardcore catholic and went back in the closet/started being completely incoherent about it who spent like five years of his life trying to drag me to church, then he managed lying about what we were gonna do, admitted that he’d have never done it if I had been jewish or protestant or any religion but apparently if I was atheist it was all cool, and that one time he dragged me there I ended up stuck in the most awkward situation of my life which included some little old lady who gifted me a rosary that I didn’t want adding that ‘oh, it’s such a pity that a nice girl like you is headed to hell, I hope the virgin mary enlightens you’ when she didn’t even know my name but she knew I was U’s atheist friend so obviously I was fucked already and that about pissed me off to the point that I stopped calling him and I think he still hasn’t realized why I did.
and other similar stuff. I mean, obviously I didn’t get discriminated openly or anything but the above stuff is more or less the norm, these days less also because I think a lot of people don’t practice (less than they used to back in the day) but late 90s/early 00s it was like that almost everywhere and I’m actually lucky that my parents can’t give a fuck about the topic because I know people with extra religious parents who didn’t even consider telling them they actually were atheists period because they’d have taken it fairly badly X°DD but like if your friends had no issues then it’s a very good thing, but it’s... not a universal experience X°D and most atheist people my age that I know had at least some experiences in common X°D that said I think back then it was a lot more common to send your kids to the nuns in kindergarten/elementary school and I’ve met I think one person who attended a school run by nuns who didn’t have some horror story to tell so there’s that too, but like, this ain’t scandinavia. not yet. xD and on top of that I’ve had a bunch of people assuming that ‘well but if you’re not religious why does it even bother you BE MORE TOLERANT’ when I said I didn’t want to go inside churches period in the six months after The Mass With The Above Friend (it wasn’t usual mass, it was some subgroup of people who did things... DIFFERENTLY let’s say) Where I Was Dragged When I Didn’t Want To, but of course no one said that he had been an ass because he completely disregarded my wishes/my belief system (or lack of belief system). naaah, why would I be upset?
tldr: most of my experiences were like the above stuff. later it’s became less bad admittedly but I also am not really interacting with people like my middle school teacher and every place I worked at for now was THANKFULLY secular so X°D but I mean. I wish no one ever gave me shit for it xD
