After rewatching the Thanks For Watching trilogy, I actually have to double down on my controversial opinion: Hunter never having to directly face off against Belos again after Thanks to Them is actually super satisfying and cathartic in an understated, underrated way. He said everything he needed to say after the worst thing that Belos ever did to him, and from then on, he didn't know it yet but he was free. I'm so happy for him.

#he was in so much pain when he was focused on vengeance in FTF. it's such a moment of relief when WAD lets him breathe #the owl house #the owl house hunter #emperor belos #i don't even think hunter's arc was *completely* unscathed by cancellation-induced pacing issues #i think he would've benefitted from more time to sit with flapjack's death and to flesh out the new magic (esp limitations) #(i think they could've spun up an interesting new angle on the disability metaphor if they'd had like... #an A-plot and two B-plots across half a season. give some payoffs to his prior glyph usage maybe) #but with the cancellation they couldn't have given him that time without taking any away from luz (or others but mostly luz) #and to be clear: i think they made the right choice #because hunter is a great character but nonetheless one that the fanbase needs to be reminded is not the protagonist #anyways he might be the TOH character for which the ending stuck the least for me... BUT the fact that i still enjoyed it overall #is really a testament to the crew handling the cancellation in the best way humanly possible. IMO

I know several people who like LOVE seasons 5-7 (11th doctors run) and think the storylines and moffats writing are brilliant and I don't get it!!! what am I missing??? why does literally every single episode have the exact same stakes: Rory/Amy/the doctor is dead. forever. so dead. but wait!!! what if they aren't!!! why do so many of the explanations for why they're not actually dead feel so rushed like they were added at the last minute!! why does every single queer character act kind of weird and awkward about being queer!! why does the doctor casually say that women are inferior when no one's around!!! what the fuck!! hello!!!

The Destiny fandom has a habit of going "Where's the guy?" when presented with predominantly female-focused fanart/fic. While part of that is general fandombrainedness, I definitely think the official source material doesn't help, what with the D2 writers reticence to create stories that solely focus on women characters (the majority of the time they cannot even clear the Bechdel-Wallace Test, as low a bar as that is).

The amount of times ive seen people be like "summer isnt your favorite season you were just conditioned as a child to consider it the season where you wouldnt be burnt out and overworked" except even in college with a nonexistent workload between semesters i feel like im literally going insane because its not FREEZING but its just uncomfortably too cold and wintry to take a walk around the neighborhood or show off my cute clothes or have the windows open to get a nice breeze in my room or watch the sunset at like 7:30 pm with hot dogs on the front porch. Like the lack of scholarly obligations absolutely helps but it's more than me just being on break. may hits and several opportunities to do things that better my mental health arise immediately

Gonna say something potentially controversial:

I think Heartcatch suffers from the Up phenomenon in that people remember it as an excellent, if not flawless masterpiece when it actually has One (1) excellent, if not flawless moment in the beginning and is otherwise nothing special.

#pretty cure #babs' musings #precure: heartcatch #i remember sitting there watching 4 episodes at a time and asking myself “so when does it get as Great as people say” #i admire how different it is in tone and style to other seasons. it really stands out in that regard! #but that doesn't make it automatically better (or worse) than other seasons #it was funnier. #but the story? really underwhelming imo #the only notable part about the plot was the very first scene that set the intrigue and mystery of Yuri's character #but what they deliver on that front was extremely disappointing for me #and all the other characters get pretty mid arcs as well #Tsubomi has anxiety about not being good at anything. nothing comes of that besides one or two insults from the villains. #Itsuki has to crossdress in order to continue the family business because her brother has vague illness #that's never confronted in any satisfying way. it just sorta fades away once she decides she likes being a girl #Erika's insecurity regarding her sister is honestly the most engaging of these arcs and that's because I have a little sister #I suppose I set my expectations too high for that season. but people call it The Best Precure Season when it's not even in my top 3 so far #and that's kinda concerning for me going forward #suite is also proving to be a huge bore for me. extremely artificial season going through the motions of the franchise #Hummy... save me. Hummy. Save me Hummy #I really don't want to struggle through 13 more unremarkable seasons in the hopes of recapturing the magic of Futari Wa and Fresh #argh. i hate not liking things #sorry for the rant in the tags.

I watch one episode with the Ninth Doctor and I am immediately reminded why I love him so damn much he's the best Doctor of nuWho and I so wish we'd had more time with him. This isn't anything that hasn't been said before (I literally just reblogged a post that said it) but he is just so good. Of all the Doctors I've seen, he has truly the most kindness and joy of any of them. First episode he meets the big bad and when Rose tells him to kill it he is shocked. "I've got to give it a chance," he says. He's an open wound of a man but he is so full of love for everyone and everything. And I am full of love for him
