Halle Berry's Trainer Says She's Got The Body Of A 25-Year-Old (She's 51)
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
By Korin Miller
Have you seen Halle Barry lately?! OMG. The actress has always looked good, but at 51 she looks freaking amazing (and definitely defies the normal science of aging). Now, her trainer is spilling what’s behind Halle's toned, fit physique.
Peter Lee Thomas has been working with Halle for about two years, and told People she’s super committed to fitness.
“I had no idea what her age was when I met her. I never looked or was interested in that, and when I found out, I was absolutely shell-shocked because she has the discipline and athleticism of a 25-year old."

This is a special #FitnessFriday! I believe good heath and wellness is what real beauty is all about. The beauty world is constantly evolving, building a deeper connection between health, wellness, and what we know as being beautiful. A holistic approach to beauty is key, which is why I’m partnering with @beautycon to give away two tickets to this year’s #BeautyconNYC Festival where they will launch their B-Well experience. It’s all about celebrating every dimension of health and wellness. Check out my IG Stories to enter the promotion! The winner will be randomly selected on April 14 and contacted directly. Good luck! Now, let’s talk about one of my favorite pieces of equipment. The MED BALL! The med ball is one of the most versatile and underrated pieces of equipment. It can help tone your core and increases your overall strength. It challenges balance, coordination and endurance as well as promotes explosive power. You can get a full body workout with just a ball. It truly is an entire "all in one gym”. And who doesn’t have fun with a ball? When I have fun while training I feel inspired to keep going! Today we share 5 exercises with the Med Ball. Our balls are 12 lbs, but you can use any weight your fitness level allows. I do 20 reps for 5 sets. I also made 2 new keto lunch dishes I absolutely love! Have fun today! 💪🏽❤️

So, Thomas did what any good trainer would do, and decided to challenge Halle even more, with a combination of exercises like martial arts, boxing, yoga and “a lot of military training [like] the Navy Seals would do.”
In fact, Halle is so awesome at working out, that Thomas said she could “very easily transition” into becoming a professional athlete if she wanted to.

Here we go....it’s #FitnessFriday. Let’s talk about our attitude! I know many people who have started their journey to better health and fitness with great enthusiasm. Sadly, after a few short weeks or even a few months they unfortunately QUIT! They felt defeated because they couldn’t master the exercises fast enough or didn’t see results as soon as they would have liked and they gave up. Whether a new workout, a new eating plan or an attempt to do yoga or meditation, we have become a society addicted to the quick fix and we want results before we even start to get good 😂 I totally understand that feeling. Finding the energy to continue when you see little results is tough and can be very discouraging. However, I’m here to tell you, I too have wanted the “quick fix” and felt like quitting because I couldn’t master an exercise fast enough. I’ve been #boxing a lot lately and when Peter told me I had to jump rope I thought it was going to be easy. We all skipped rope as kids, right? Well, wrong! Not this kind of skipping. The kind where you do 200 to 500 skips without stopping. The kind where you throw in a few tricks and keep on skipping until sweat is dripping off your body. That’s the kind I’m talking about. The first time I had to do consecutive skips without stopping I thought I was gonna die! However, I worked at it until I finally got it. I’m still no Ali with the rope, but this experience reminded me that just when you want to quit because you can’t do something easily or you see no real change, that is when real change is about to occur. This is the most important time to stick with it. I say this to you because I say it to myself every day. I encourage you to not give up and STICK WITH IT! Today on my IG Stories I share a little bit of my rope skipping and another exercise that also tried to defeat me a while back, the lunge jump. It’s good for your legs and butt and offers great cardio as well. Try 20-30 jump lunges for 3-5 sets. If the jumping is a bit too challenging, you can modify it, do a regular lunge and work toward the jumping. For those who want more of a challenge, Peter put some “hot sauce” on it and added a squat to the mix. Enjoy 💪🏽❤️

“She’s also not afraid to experiment and explore and take risks when it comes to fitness," Thomas said, "because she understands that in order for there to be potential growth and change, she’s going to have to do things that are commonly difficult to do."
Thomas, who trains Halle five days a week, revealed to People he surprises her with something new every day. “I bring a constellation of things,” he said. “That, in itself, is quite challenging because she has to be ready almost on improv. It can break a lot of people, who don’t see the workout the day prior.”

It’s #FitnessFriday AGAIN! Today I’m proud to share my new #yoga pose. Thanks to all of you, I got super inspired and challenged myself to a head stand! I continue to challenge each of you to try new poses as well and share them with me by tagging #FitnessFridayHB. Today, let’s talk not just about yoga poses, but also about the meditative aspects of yoga. Many argue that some of the happiest people are those who spend time each day meditating. I can tell you that I’ve felt happier and more like my best self since I started. I’ve learned that meditation helps to balance your left brain and right brain, and as a result I feel more creative, I can absorb information faster and I experience better emotional health. #Meditation also helps me stay in touch with my “little me”, that little girl who keeps me curious and open to the newness of each day and every new experience that comes my way. Meditation keeps me connected to God, Mother Earth, a higher power or whatever you prefer, and reminds me that while we are all on a solo journey, we are never alone! So today, if you don’t already, try to find 20 minutes to meditate or pray. If you can make this ritual a part of your dailies, watch how your life will transform! Also today on my IG Stories and fitness highlight, I’m sharing my keto lunch. Enjoy 💪🏽❤️

Of course, what she eats matters, too. According to Thomas, Halle follows the keto diet.
And based on her social media presence, Halle is proud of what she can do. She offers up her own weekly #FitnessFriday workout tips on Instagram, like the importance of stretching:

This #FitnessFriday is dedicated to the importance of stretching! After I work out, it’s important for me to stretch and lengthen. Fitness is not just about running, lifting and punching. For me, being athletic and super fit is also about being still, stretching and breathing. Including stretching in my fitness program helps my muscles stay long, limber, improves my mobility and range of motion and, most importantly, helps me avoid injuries. This is one of my favorite #yoga poses, the shoulder stand, that stretches my lower spine and legs. I feel 2 inches taller after this stretch! Some people use yoga poses to manage stress, increase circulation, for medication, recovery, better sleep, and mobility just to name a few. Check out my Fitness IG Story to see a stretch I like for hip mobility that lengthens my sides and for today's #keto meal. Today I challenge you to share your best yoga pose. If you don't have one, I encourage you to search for one, post about it, tag #FitnessFridayHB and tell me how it makes you feel. ❤️🙏🏽

Or how to get the motivation to start working out:
View this post on Instagram
It’s #FitnessFriday. You asked how to get started? It’s simple... you just decide to start! You decide today that you are worth it! Trust me, I know it’s hard to focus up and dedicate time to working out each day, but with 24 hours in a day you can surely take ONE and dedicate it to YOU! You don’t need a fancy gym to get started - all you need is a living room, a patio, a kitchen floor, a driveway or a backyard, and a water bottle. This simple exercise is called a plank pull. This starts to strengthen your core, and a strong core has been key to my workouts. Each week until the launch of hallewood I’m going to pick a question that you ask and Peter and I will do our best to answer. First, we were asked: if you have weight to lose, is it better to lose weight before you start working out? Peter says it’s best do them simultaneously. You can start by walking each day or doing jumping jacks for cardio, while using very light weights, or again holding water bottles in each hand if you don’t have weights. And you can also start the plank pulls. Here’s to getting started! 💪🏽 Swipe to see the plank ➡️ #FitnessFridayHB

Plus, she even shares some of the workout moves she and Thomas do together, both via posts and in her story.

Thank God it’s #FitnessFriday. Today is all about the couple workout. It’s often easier to workout with a partner. A partner holds you accountable so you won’t quit halfway through. A partner can spot you so you don’t injure yourself, but most of all, working out with a partner just makes it all more fun! Here are two simple exercises you and your boo can do at home. It’s a plank with a squat and each person gets a workout at the same time. Squats for butt and legs and plank for core and upper body. Do 20 reps for 10 sets. If you’re just beginning, do 10 reps for 5 sets. Swipe left to see the exercise. Enjoy! 💪🏽❤️ #FitnessFridayHB

Bottom line: Halle works hard for that body—and it shows.
