Chokehold (Sam Winchester x Reader smut)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Request: Hey I don’t know if you’re taking requests but I was reading Adrenlize Me and I had an idea for a part 2? Sam and reader have been getting at it for a bit but this time they finally say “I love you” to each other? Rough smut with a little dash of fluff? 🥰
Pairing: Sam x Reader
Warnings: sexy times and I love you’s, mentions of addiction
Word count: 2.1k
Note: I apologize for being so slow (school+work+ADHD). Writing this made me realize how single I actually am.
Enjoy! Like/Reblog or both if you like it! :)
PART 1
Addiction. First, it feels like a warm hug, sucking you in, disguising itself as something familiar, something beautiful, and finally, you feel like you filled that hole in your soul. Then it starts taking, it takes and takes until there is nothing left to take, until you cannot give anymore – until you’re dead. You find out, a little too late, that the warm hug was just a one-way ticket to your inevitable demise.
This started as a deep-seated need but turned into a full-blown addiction sooner than I thought, but the only difference was this was a blissful one, with no reaper waiting for you at the end. It only brought endless pleasure.
Sam was no better than me. We couldn’t stop ourselves; every touch, every kiss would send us into a euphoric state, and it was better than any drug known to man.
After our little adventure in Dean’s beloved Baby, we tried to keep our dirty little secret hidden. Sam would come to my room only during the night when he could hear Dean snoring in his room, and even then, we had to be careful since Dean was a light sleeper. He would muffle my moans with his hand whenever he was on top of me, he would sometimes even let me bite his shoulder, but it was impossible to be quiet, especially when we both liked listening to each other come undone. Long story short, Dean found out.
“Good thing you two lovebirds finally got together! The bad thing is now I cannot sleep.” He told us one morning while sipping his black coffee, clearly tired and cranky.
Lovebirds.
That word was stuck in my brain that day. It still would pop up occasionally. It reminded me that we never labeled our little arrangement. When it happened, we would carry on, pretend like this thing was meaningless, and then we would do it all over again. We would cover every topic under the Sun apart from this one. We completely ignored it, but it was there, just around the corner, something more than just a meaningless hookup.
Sure, he was able to make my legs shake, make me forget my existence, and his touch would set me on fire every damn time, but the way he would look at me right before I would come, the way we would look at each other…  I knew I was falling for him.
We were birds of a feather –we connected through art, books, and music. We liked the same things but were far different characters. I was more of a 'Shoot first, ask questions later' kind of girl, like his older brother, and he was far from that. He was my voice of reason when I would let my emotions consume me; he was the one who would tell Dean and me to get our shit together whenever we would jump the gun (and that would often happen because we were both hotheads). We worked perfectly together.
***
"God, I'm exhausted!" I said and put my bag on the table.
We just got back from a hunt in Omaha, Nebraska, and it was a wild one. It dragged to no end until we finally ganked the ghost that was killing unfaithful men. I almost got thrown off the balcony, Dean almost got stabbed, and Sam, well he took care of it. Overall, I was just happy the case was over and, that I could sleep in my/Sam's bed.
"Me too! Gonna hit the hay!" Dean said taking his shoes off.
"Already? It's only 10 pm." Sam said. On a rare occasion, Dean would sleep early, he was the worst night bird in the flock. For him, 2 am was too early for bed, and mornings started at noon.
"Sammy, I almost got stabbed today! Yeah, already." Dean said and disappeared into the hallway.
"Night, Dean!" I said.
"Night, night!" I heard him say.
I was immediately hit with the realization that I was alone with Sam. There was something so alluring about him that made me nervous in the best way possible. It would boost my dopamine and adrenaline – like a drug. I swallowed nervously as I turned to see he was staring back at me and I immediately recognized the look – the look of devotion.
"What?" I asked. He looked tired, with messy hair, and bags under his eyes. I was a tired mess too. During these days caffeine kept me awake and sharp since we were working night and day trying to solve the gruesome mystery.
"Shower?" He asked.
"Please!"
We went to his room since I would spend most of my nights there. What started as casual, grew to be a routine. I started hating sleeping alone in cold sheets – his warmth kept me safe.
When we entered his room, pleasant silence joined us. We stripped down our dirty clothes and sins as we went to the bathroom. We didn’t say a word until warm water touched our tired bodies.
“Warm enough?” Sam asked me.
I nodded. He shampooed my hair, and I did my body while letting my muscles relax under the shower, feeling every part of me slowly shutting down from exhaustion.  Once my hair was nice and cleaned and I turned to face Sam, kissing where his heart was as I balanced myself on my tiptoes since he was much taller than me.
“My turn?” I asked and got on his knees, like he usually would do when I wanted to wash his hair, and wrapped his hands around my waist, cupping my ass. It wasn’t the first time we showered together, the aftercare was as important for him as it was for me, but this time it felt far more intimate and real. The aftercare would usually turn into rough shower sex, leaving me breathless and sometimes even covered in bruises, but this time I saw true intimacy and meaning of showering together.
Sam kissed my stomach as I washed his hair, sending light shivers all over my body. His hand went between my legs, and a light moan escaped from my lips.
“All done!” My voice trembled. Sam stood up and kissed me hungrily. I could never get enough of his kisses, his lips were soft, kisses sweet kinda like cherries in spring, nothing like I’ve ever tasted before. He broke the kiss as our eyes met, water still running down our bodies. I could feel his breath on my lips. The air, even though hot and heavy, got a little bit chilly for a second – or was I getting nervous? I could feel my heartbeat in my throat. I didn’t know why I was getting nervous. Everything that seemed familiar was now foreign to me. Even though we fucked a million times, even though we both had seen each other naked, I was still feeling that tickling sensation in the pit of my stomach.
Sam turned off the shower. We did our night routine in blissful silence. Skincare, haircare, the whole nine yards…in blissful pleasant silence. Sam even started using my Vitamin C serum, when I told him how good it is for the skin.
I was pleasantly surprised when he took a little bit of my hydrating cream after the serum. I would always use that after having a rough day on the job, it did wonders for my tired skin.
“You’re learning,” I told him as I brushed my teeth.
“From the best.” He simply said.
***
I didn’t remember the last time I did my night routine in my bathroom – and it all started when Dean caught me leaving his room to get my toothbrush.
“You two are louder than a jackhammer!” He told me as he opened the door of his room, messy hair, eyes barely open, clearly feeling creaky from lack of sleep…again. “Keep it down, or I swear I’ll kill you both!”
“Sorry!” I was embarrassed but trying hard not to laugh.
Ever since then, I decided not to leave his room during the night. So, naturally, I started leaving my stuff in Sam’s room.
***
After we got in our pajamas; Sam in his gray sweatpants and me in my oversized blue T-shirt I “borrowed” from him, got under the covers. I could feel my whole body relaxing, as I let my mind drift God knows where…I was ready to fall asleep, but Sam had other plans. He wrapped his hand around my waist pulling me closer to him. His semi-hard cock was pressed against my ass, and I felt his lips on my neck.
“Yeah, Sammy?” I bit my lower lip.
“I don’t wanna sleep.” He mumbled between kisses.
I turned around, missing the softness of his lips on mine. I kissed him, feeling the minty taste on his lips. My hand went in his hair, pulling him closer to me. He moaned when I pulled his locks, sending shivers all over his body. He pushed me back onto the mattress as he climbed on top of me, leaving kisses all over my jaw and neck. I loved his lips on my skin, I loved everything about them; the softness, the taste, the ability to make me wet in seconds…
“You got me worried today,” Sam whispered between kisses.
“Sorry, I was a hot-headed dumbass.”
I thought I could take down the ghost by myself. I didn’t stick to the plan and almost got thrown off the balcony when the damn thing attacked me – my mistake.
“Like always.”
And that’s why you love me. I bit my tongue. I felt my walls completely coming down under him. I didn’t care about labels, I didn’t care what we were, I just knew my heart was struggling to stay silent. I wanted to say those words as much as I desperately wanted to hear them from him.
“Shut up and kiss me!” I told him instead.
Sam pressed his lips on mine, this time his hand went down my stomach between my legs. His fingers were cold, making my skin shiver, but his touch bought endless pleasure.
I could feel his two fingers in me for a few seconds before he pulled away.
“Tease,” I said annoyed. He loved making me beg and feel desperate and I loved every second of it.
He licked his fingers clean and kissed me letting me have a taste as well.
“You are delicious.”
Everything about this seemed different. He was sweeter and far more gentle. Usually, he would tell me to be quiet, his good girl, he would be rough, but this time…he wasn’t? He had a gentle side, but I’d rarely see it. I felt something was different. I felt my heart connecting with his and my soul feeling closer to his own.
“And you’re a tease.”
He laughed, showing off those cute little dimples I adored so much.
"Just a little. " He smirked before kissing me again. I was growing impatient, and it was like he heard me. He wasted no time, he moved my panties to the side as I helped him lower his sweatpants. He entered me slowly, letting me adjust to his size, letting me bask in the pleasure his cock was giving me. I buried my fingers into his damp hair, arching my back slightly.
"You feel so good!"
He would always tell me that. Every time. No exception. He knew his words made me needy, horny, and desperate…He knew what buttons to push.
He started to move and that was when my heart decided to work against me…or it did me a favor? My eyes were lost in his, not wanting to break the contract. I was feeling every inch of him, slowly moving in and out, skin to skin….
"I love you!"
I heard myself say. My heart was pounding, I could see his expression change as his hair was falling on my cheeks…he smiled and kissed me.
"I love you too!"
I didn't expect this answer from him. At the moment it didn't seem real but I think we both knew it was coming. Between the constant staring, and flirting just to gross out Dean and the genuine connection we had, we knew…
Sam's pace became faster, and I was slowly losing it. His face was inches away from mine, feeling each other's breaths as my climax was getting closer. I could feel my body shaking, my nails digging into his back as I couldn’t get his name out of my mouth.
“Come on, baby!” He whispered in my ear.
I loved his voice, I loved his touch, his kiss. I loved him.
I came hard, biting his shoulder (Sam didn’t even flinch), not wanting to be too loud because of Dean and his “Next time I’m gonna kill you both” sentence.
He kissed me before collapsing next to me. We were both panting, waiting for someone to say something, to break the ice that had already been broken when I told him I love you. But no one did. Instead, we fell asleep, my head on his chest, safe and sound.

Breaking down the comics: A good boy (issue 30)
Moon Knight, Issue #30: The Moonwraith, Three Sixes, and a Beast
(We've hit 1983 people!)
Tumblr media
PREVIOUSLY ON MOON KNIGHT!
We get a title page that states:
"WHAT HAS HAPPENED:
In the Omaha trainyards, Jack Russell - Cursed to become a werewolf under the influence of a full moon--Narrowly escapes capture by a satanic cult led by a man named Schuyler Belial. Belial-Who calls himself "Morning Star" --Orders his agents to follow Russell, last seen boarding an express train to New York.
A month passess. Moon Knight receives an urgent plea from Russell to meet him. Arriving at the rendezvous, a farmhouse in New Jersey, our hero learns that Russell has become the Werewolf again. He has also been found by Belial's cultists, who wound Moon Knight even as the Werewolf escapes them once more.
The following Morning, Moon Knight tracks Russell down and takes him home to Grant Mansion. He suspects that Belial has had a tracking device surgically implanted in Russel's skull, and examination by a doctor confirms his suspicions. It is too late to remove the device, however, because the Full Moon is about to rise again.
To control him during the night, Moon Knight straps Russell down. The Werewolf is stronger than expected, though, and breaks his bonds, then turns to face Marlene and Moon Knight with murder in his bestial eyes..."
Tumblr media
Welp, Moon Knight has a werewolf in his guest room.
He tells Marlene to get the others to the basement while he figures out what to do about his friend.
He tries to reason with the beast.
He gets tossed out the window for his trouble.
And now the beast is free.
And in true Moon Knight fashion, he ends up on the ground in a crumpled heap.
Tumblr media
He’s doing great.
The wolf dislikes the city in the rain. Seeking higher ground, he sits on a rooftop howling.
Moon Knight finds him and sneaks up on him and sucker punches him in the face.
The beast does not like this.
Once more...
Tumblr media
They hit the ground hard.
"The water was hardly deep enough to cushion our fall, so we laid there until dawn."
With dawn, Jack Russell is back.
Passed out in the gutter next to Moon Knight, Belial's men find them.
The men take them both just to be safe.
It seems they finally have 'the beast of the apocalypse'. So all the followers of the good church of satan arrive out of LA.
And Schuyler, Self proclaimed Morning Star, greets them all with a shackled Jack Russell and Moon Knight.
It would seem Moon Knight is well known in these circles. (See Werewolf by Night for original context when we first met our beloved Moon Knight).
While they are eager to see their foe destroyed, Schuyler has failed them enough times and all they see is "A kid and some geek dressed in a Moon Knight outfit--the kind you rent for halloween."
Furthermore, Morning Star has decided that in order to further his power and beliefs, he needs to sacrifice the beast, convinced that the blood of the monster will transform him into a powerful supernatural being. He then intends to infect others until the apocalypse is unleashed.
The congregation seems to think it might work so they head to the roof for preparations of the final day of the full moon.
But first we have one of my ultimate favorite superhero gags.
They want to know who hides behind the mask of Moon Knight.
Tumblr media
No one fucking knows who he is.
If you REALLY think about it, Why would anyone outside of their direct circle of in people know who this guy is? Sure, Steven’s a millionaire, but he isn’t exactly Bruce Wayne about it. He’s just some rich guy that sometimes throws parties or attends business meetings. Jake Lockley is a cab driver in New York City. And Marc Spector doesn’t even really have an existence in present day America. And if you happen to know who Marc Spector is, the odds are that you probably don’t care about a secret Moon Knight identity and just want the man dead for the simple fact that he is Marc Spector.
They move to return Moon Knight and Jack back to their cages.
And unfortunately for them, Moon Knight wakes up before he gets there.
He grabs Jack and makes a break for it. He calls for Frenchie and heads outside.
(Moon Knight no.... Not in the chopper.)
Up on the roof, the others are still getting their tour of the sacrificial altar when they're informed of the escape.
He tells them to use the tracker implanted in Jack's head. They have to get to him before the moon rises.
And then they look up and see the very unique and moon specific helicopter.
Luckily they avoid getting blown out of the sky and head back to the mansion.
Calling in the doctor, they manage to get the chip out.
It's noon now and time is of the essence.
In the meantime, Steven takes the chip and hides it in the mansion's game room.
He changes to Moon Knight and waits.
(Moon Knight no...not in the mansion)
And right on cue, we see the cultists heading back to the mansion.
Jack is now recovering from his surgery and his rough night. Marlene helps him to...
"Help Marlene get him into Lockley's cab in the garage, but tell her to stay there. Not to move until she hears from me over the cab's radio through my cowl-mike."
(Moon Knight no...not in the cab!)
The trap is set and the cultists bust into the mansion.
They wander into the game room only to find it empty with the homing device. Moon Knight springs his trap.
Whalloping them on the head with a pool cue, he tells Marlene to beat it!
Tumblr media
(Moon Knight no…not in the diner.)
Really Marlene? Did you need to bust through the garage door? Of course no one’s outside! These guys are idiots and only sent two dudes to pick up the werewolf!
For the record, I fucking love Gena.
"I still say he looks like an ordinary white boy to me." She closes her diner as they sneak Jack in.
Next part of the plan? Marlene is going to hypnotize Jack.
She asks Gena for her necklace with pendant.
"Girl, this is a genuine pearl--not cultured, neither--so you just be real careful with it, hear?" (I love Gena)
She tells him to see the pendant and think of the moon.
He starts to change, fur growing in despite it only being 3.
She stops the change.
"This is just the moon in your imagination. Now, what does the full moon do to you?"
"It...Changes me...Turns me into werewolf..."
"That's right...It gives the werewolf life...and who is the werewolf?"
"Me...I'm the werewolf..."
"Then the Moon gives YOU life, doesn't it?"
(And who's a good boy? That’s right! You are!)
She directs his attention to Moon Knight, "the emissary of the moon. The spirit of the moon...The keeper of the moon's powers..."
In essence, she's trying to get the werewolf to stop trying to kill Moon Knight.
"Moon Knight is your friend."
She returns the pearl to Gena, who is patiently waiting. Gena calls it Hoodoo as she checks her pearl over.
Back at the cult, Morning Star gets a statick filld phone call saying that they got the beast despite Moon Knight's trouble.
Who knew Frenchie could do a convincing American accent?
Back at the diner, Jack enjoys a meal from Gena.
"So, Moon Knight, you still making good bounties?"
"I don't work for money anymore, Russell. Got enough to last me."
"Just fighting crime out of the goodness of your heart?"
"Something like that. How about you? Any closer to a cure?"
"Nope...But at least the werewolf hasn't killed anyone innocent yet--and thank god he seems to prefer game flesh to....human."
It's time for part two of the trap.
Moon Knight dons a cultist robe and Jack plays dead. They head into the building and take Jack to the roof.
Jack lays on the alter as the moon starts to rise and he starts to change.
Just as Morning Star prepares to plunge his blade into the changing man, Moon Knight uses one of the stolen weapons to shoot the blade from his hands.
"That's when Moon Knight blew his cover--at the last possible moment, no less-- by zapping the Silver Dagger out of Belial's hand. It had been some three inches from my heart."
Moon Knight calls out to tell Russell it's time to act.
The wolf springs up, unsure if it's acting because of Moon Knight or because of the cultists.
"But I jumped into their ugly faces with relish nonetheless. After the chill of the stone altar on my back, I wanted to warm up fast--and did."
The other cultists make the mistake of getting into a weird gun fight with Moon Knight, a man that knows his way around weapons.
"I don't normally use guns of any kind--But then it's not every day that I have to save the world from the forces of Satan!"
Tumblr media
Only two of them? A werewolf and Moon Knight. Why shouldn’t these average middle aged men who chant all day be able to stop them?
“Only two of us, all right…But WHAT A PAIR.”
And then they bump into one another. Will the hypnosis have worked?
“Nice Russell…Nice boy…” (He’s a good boy! Such a good boy!)
Tumblr media
It’s so nice to see them finally working together.
And rip through their hated flesh he does.
Belial makes a run for it and the wolf gives chase.
It catches him easily.
"He shrieked and gibbered, gaping at the beast of his own personal apocalypse. The sound only made my blood run hotter... And hotter still... Until I howled...and he screamed...And the hideous sounds became one."
The wolf throws Morning Star off the roof.
"Vengeance was mine, sayeth the werewolf...in a growl of supreme satisfaction."
The other cultists open fire on the wolf and Moon Knight tells him to get out of there before he's hit.
The Moon copter swoops in and drops the ladder.
The cops have arrived below and are getting ready to storm the building.
They just need to get the wolf out of there before more people show up.
Moon Knight tells him to grab the ladder.
"Grab it, Russell! Don't just stand there 'till they cut you down! Listen to me Russell...Grab it!!"
"Finally, the werewolf felt a vague stir of recognition...A soft urging from a sweetly haunting voice deep within me. I clawed at the bottom ladder rung--ANd was swept off the roof, into the Moon-cursed night."
Moon Knight yells to get Russell out of there as he continues to fight the cultists.
Moon Knight dives off the roof and uses his cape to glide away.
Blocks away, in the safe darkness of the city, the wolf drops to the streets and so does Moon Knight.
Tumblr media
"We faced each other for long moments, across the deserted street...I turned and sprinted lithely for the moon."
Frenchie asks if Marc is going to give chase.
"He's already gone, Frenchie-His future is in our hands now. And it's probably better this way. For a moment, I thought I might be able to keep him under control.
...But Marlene's hypnotic spell can't last forever. ...And even though I hate to agree with Belial on ANY score...The werewolf is a beast. At least under the moon. And he simply craves his freedom too much to care about someone who kept hitting him over the head..."
(LOL)
Tumblr media
"Moon Knight was wrong. Despite all our fights, the werewolf left with certain regret...Even if Moon Knight was also right about one thing... As a beast governed by no rules but my own, I was simply too stubborn about my freedom.
I had to run through the deep night and see what the next shadow might hide.
As for the trace of the human within me, it was all made easier by the fact that at least some people cared-And were maybe even praying I'd make it.
So I howled, and within the howl there was a farewell to Moon Knight..Maybe forever."
(I love the last page. It’s absolutely gorgeous.)
And there we have it! Moon Knight and the Werewolf by Night! Together again!
I love their dynamic! The former mercenary and bounty hunter, now a man out to protect people to make up for his monstrous deeds, and the man out to protect people from the monster he becomes.
I also love how the story is told from Jack and the werewolf’s narrative. It gives voice to the wolf and lets you see it as a thinking feeling creature. I also love how the werewolf acknowledges Jack still inside him. Two separate but whole beings.
A familiar struggle for control that Moon Knight readers have come to love. Perhaps this is why Moon Knight and the wolf do understand one another. Why Russell went looking for help from Moon Knight despite their sketchy past.
After all, who else has dared to tangle with the beast SO-MANY-TIMES?
If you are able, go read the OG comic that first introduces Moon Knight. The number of times they fight is comical. What Moon Knight went through just to capture him… At least you can’t call Moon Knight a quitter.
And with that absolutely splendid final page, Bill Sienkiewicz bids his farewell to Moon Knight.
At the end of this issue is also a "BULLPEN BULLETIN SPECIAL" which features an interview with Bill Sienkiewicz!
Interviewer: Care to tell the fans how your name is pronounced?
Bill: Bill.
Interviewer: So it's going to be that kind of interview, eh? Okay, Mr. Sin-Keh'-vitch.
[....]
Bill: After the story in issue #26, "Hit it", I was ready to move on. I felt that I'd climbed as high as I could with MK, for now. I knew I couldn't sustain it. I could talk for hours about it and the whole national problem of child abuse...And the art, how I was trying to express music, jazz, rhythm visually on paper... I felt it worked.
With this, our buddy Bill departs. Kevin Nowlan will be taking over for the next several issues.
Thank you Bill for your work in helping to give Moon Knight his face and often shapeless cat like splats on the ground.
Every special appearance of him in Moon Knight after is always a cherished treasure.

I want very badly to bake something sweet. I love baked goods so much, but I rarely bake because it takes a lot of planning to have the ingredients on hand, and then also I have to find time to do it. Usually it involves a stand mixer. I have a nice one (a Kitchenaid) but it lives in the basement and is heavy to bring upstairs and because I so rarely use it I have to wash the bowl and attachments first. My grandmother's stand mixer had a permanent place on her counter, and I will get there one day, but not in this house.
Anyway, I think of myself as someone who fails at baking more often than succeeds. That's another reason I don't bake often, because it's so disappointing to spend so much time and effort on something that doesn't turn out or is (even worse) mediocre.
But, in all fairness to me, there do seem to be times when I'm very, very good at making sweets, and usually that's when I come into a bounty of fresh local fruit and I have a crowd to bake for. The year we moved from Montgomery to Omaha (so five summers ago), we took my big kid to pick peaches and blueberries, and I made blueberry muffins, Edna Lewis's peach cobbler (best I have EVER tasted, and I've had a lot of peach cobbler), blueberry bars, and blueberry compote to eat with sliced pork loin. Two springs ago, I was in Pensacola for spring break, and we bought a flat of local strawberries. I made at least two strawberry icebox pies, strawberry muffins, and strawberry shortcake. I made a blueberry cobbler for my family when they were visiting last summer that everyone (including me! and I'm a tough critic of my own food) loved. I am desperate for a simple lemon loaf cake recipe that is easy to make, moist, and delicious. I would similarly love to once in my life make good lemon bars. If those bars also had another fruit like raspberry or blueberry I would die and go to (secular) heaven. Lately, I have been craving banana pudding, the icebox kind. Similarly, simple vanilla pound cake or iced chocolate sheet cake made by somebody's grandmother are also god-tier foods.
Other sweet things I love that I have no interest in making are fruit tarts, almond croissants, pastries of all kinds really, homemade-style cakes with real buttercream frosting (get outta here with grocery store cakes; yuck!), coffee cakes, and donuts. Sweet rolls that use yeast. Oh I would love, love, love some fresh orange rolls.
Eventually I'm going to have to learn how to use yeast without completely freaking out about it, or else I might never taste a delicious sticky sweet orange roll again.
All this ruminating is brought to you by a desperate craving I have for something sweet but no clue what to bake, plus little desire to put in the effort and time.
I don't use Tumblr collaboratively very much anymore, but if you've read this far and you have an easy (easy being key) and beloved dessert, I would love it if you left a link to the recipe in the comments.

Note
the other anon said bob was a middle child & that made sm sense so here are the others out of boredom:
jake: he’s the youngest child, just like me fr, he thrives off of chaos & seeks attention whenever he can get it. it’s probably a little bit of a trauma response for him, i imagine his dad didn’t give him the same amount of attention his older siblings (who i see as 3 girls) got & that’s why he’s gutted when mav picks rooster as his wingman. he views javy as a brother but also views bradley as one, it’s just bradley is the one he competes with lol.
bradley: he’s an only child which is canon & it makes sense since he can sometimes just not tell people things. like when he didn’t mention to nat he was coming back to san diego & she hit him with the pool stick. he sees natasha as a sister in a way & jake as a brother but not to the extent jake sees him as a brother. (if goose & carole lived he def would’ve been an older brother which makes a lot of sense bc he’s pretty protective of everyone)
natasha: definitely older sister vibes. but like a big gap between her and her siblings, i’m talking 6-12 years. she could’ve raised some of them when she was younger, she has the best advice when u need it too. she was rlly happy when she met bradley & he was older than her, it’s like she finally got to have an older sibling (even though she’s the one watching him half the time)
bob: obviously a middle child. a lot of people see middle children as the “troublemakers” when it’s actually the youngest (jake for example). he knows when to stand up for himself & others (when jake made the comment abt nat not being a good pilot since she was a woman) but also knows when it’s best to ignore others.
fanboy: he’s the second youngest, 1 of 5. definitely chaotic like jake but not as chaotic if u get what i mean. he likes to talk abt things he likes and focus the attention on that instead of himself.
javy: he’s the oldest but he’s only got one sister & she’s a year younger so there’s not really much of a gap. sure he can be protective of others but he has more twin (or irish twin in this case) energy. he also sees jake as a brother since he had none, similar to why jake sees him as a brother.
payback: definitely older brother vibes, 2 younger sisters & a younger brother. he takes this role pretty seriously and acts the same way with his siblings he does with the squad. (i don’t know why i’ve always imagined him having a sister around 21-23 & bradley showing up with her friend one time & payback makes a fucked up comment😭😭)
mav: he’s an only child, that’s pretty obvious with how he was with goose. he saw goose as a brother figure. that’s why his stories lowkey sad as hell bc goose’s son basically became maverick in the end (no wife, no kids, no parents, no siblings) while on the topic of goose i like to believe he has at least one brother and one sister, mav did become his favorite “sibling” though & that’s why mav practically got half custody of bradley after he died.
for shits & giggles, harvard & yale are only children but became each others brothers. fritz has an older sister who was also in the navy. omaha has 2 older brothers. halo has a younger sister that works at penny’s bar as a bartender!
this was very long i apologize - 💋
DUDEEEE ARE YOU KIDDING ME ALL OF THESE ARE SO ACCURATE
i whole heartedly agree with ALL of these and i’m accepting all of them as canon. i’m so grateful you came through with all of these incredible thoughts and in such insane detail!!
please do not apologise at all my beloved anon!! thank you so much for this, mwah!! 💌🫶🏼💖

The last bonus chapter (and simply, the last chapter)!
Let's welcome our beloved king, Iceman!
-------------
Some other things:
All right everyone, though I am not quite done with this universe, I believe this is officially the end of Hang the Hangman with Love, the multi-chapter fic. There may be more fics to come in this AU, but they will be posted separately.
This is my first time to write (and finish) a multi-chapter fic in English. I have had so much fun writing this one, and I am so overwhelmingly happy for all your love for it! I am not the most confident writer, and I happen to be an introvert who work very very far away from my hometown lollll. So, your support really means a lot to me ❤️
This has been a wonderful and fantastic journey! Thanks again for all your lovely company. I hope you enjoy this story as much as I do.
Till we meet again, my dear readers. All the best. And Merry Christmas in advance!!!
<3 <3

(A reminder: you probably should connect the bonus chapters with previous main text ones, then they will make more sense! You can find them on AO3 or here among my posts, tagged the fic title)

Maverick: bring back so many golden memories of our youth
Iceman: You mean when we were one second away from strangling each other?
Iceman: Yeah, such great time
Maverick: I don’t know about you

Iceman: I miss you
Iceman: wrap up your vacation and come home now
Maverick: You are lucky that I love you, bossy asshole
Iceman: remind myself of that every single day
Maverick: While I am still away, you can make some use of this picture…

Maverick: [send a picture]
Iceman: …Maverick!
Iceman: I have a meeting with the President in one minute!

Iceman:
Iceman: Yeah, yeah I should
Iceman: love you

Maverick: I will
Maverick: love you too
Maverick: (and three)

Maverick: It’s kind of half disturbing and half funny
Maverick: But I can sympathise with him
Maverick: I couldn’t believe my luck either when you said yes that day
Iceman: Flattering
Maverick: You misspell factual, darling
Iceman: Why wouldn’t I? I mean saying yes that day
Iceman: I love you
Iceman: Even for the fact that you insisted to sing “Let it go” to me yesterday at the restaurant and cracked your voice
Maverick: That was
Maverick: That was designed! Stage effect! To deepen the emotion of the song!
Maverick: STOP LAUGHING!!!
Maverick: … Are you telling the kids that now??

Payback: Hangman called you a bastard, sir
Iceman: Please, everyone, we are off duty now
Iceman: Just call me Ice
Payback: OK, ok
Payback: Ic...sir
Rooster: Well
Rooster: He tried
———————————
[Rooster and Two Old Men]
Maverick: But you are cuisine babe, and very delicious one 😋
Rooster: OMG MAVERICK
Rooster: If you old man can’t send the message to the right chat when you are SEXTING
Rooster: DON’T SEND IT!!!
[Rooster changes the group name to “Rooster and two disgusting old men”]
Rooster: Now I have to find some memory-erasing magic
Maverick: Sorry kid
Maverick: for the mental image
Rooster: DON’T REMIND ME
Iceman: Hey, I didn’t do anything
Iceman: That’s unfair
Rooster: You married him
Rooster: That’s enough
Rooster: Now I know why my dad has ptsd
———————————
[Chat with Hangman]
Hangman: ... Admiral Kazansky, sir
Hangman: I am sincerely sorry
Iceman: For mistaking Cyclone for me?
Hangman: ...Yeah, that
Hangman: When you said it, the thing seems more stupid than it originally was, however impossible
Iceman: Like I said, relax
Iceman: I can tell that Mav likes you
Iceman: Maybe Rooster, too
Iceman: And after all, you saved their lives, technically
Hangman: Sir, I was just doing what I... Wait
Hangman: Can we go back to the Rooster maybe likes me part?

OKAY- I finally have time to fanboy about the concert that I just got back from LMAO so keep reading for a ride
So last Saturday my friend took me to the Freaks on Parade tour in Iowa for my birthday (which is on the 14th for anyone wondering :) ) BUT IT WAS SO GOOD??? Mudvayne, Powerman 5000, Rob Zombie, and Static-X were all there and I have to rate + share some of the photos I got from the concert :) it was so much fun.
The first band that played was call The Tale Untold, that band was AWESOME. They're a small band that formed in Omaha, Nebraska but oh my fucking god. The lead vocalist is a female and they sound so fucking metal?? Like ong my friends mom thought that she was a guy with how deep her voice got. It was hot as fuck and I loved them. They definitely give off Jinjer and Otep vibes, so if you like either of those bands. I definitely suggest them!
I cannot remember the next band that played, I was too busy socializing with my stepmom, friend, and their mom. Along with showing off my awesome vest that my cousin designed for me 😌💙💚
Once Powerman 5000 started up though, I drug my stepmom into the pit so we could watch them. Plus so we could find my dad since he was down there the whole time. I probably would have been as well, but it was 104 degrees Fahrenheit so I was melting in denim jeans and a denim vest.
(This was our view)
Tumblr media
We didn't get clear up to the stage because we couldn't find my dad, but we were right in behind the mosh pit which was honestly amazing! I would have joined but 1) I didn't know if my stepmom would have let me. 2) this dude in the pit was mean mugging me and I 100% believe they would have fought me the moment I step foot in the mosh.
Powerman 5000 was tbh a stellar band to see. Not as lively as they used to be, but they're still one of my favorite bands and I honestly love Spider so <3 That's okay.
Static-x... Oh my GOD GUYS THEY WERE SO GOOD??? It may not have been Wayne, but jesus christ xer0 does such a good job! It's uncanny how much he sounds like Wayne! The songs that they played were awesome and just seeing them in concert was phenomenal. They are definitely a band you have to hear live. The vocals are beautiful and the guitar is just unbelievable when listening to them live. I was so thrown back by there music I kind of forgot to record and take more than two pictures. Which I greatly regret now. After they were done performing the drummer tossed his drum stick out into the crowd and my dad and I nearly caught it but this tall ass mf in front of us barely even reached up and grabbed it. Like sir??? That was coming straight at me. That was obviously mine.
I am definitely gonna try and see them again next year if they're back in the area!
Tumblr media
Mudvayne isn't really a band favorite of mine, but they were such a fun band to see in person :) Chad was very lively and SUPER hilarious. He even got in the crowd to sing some of the songs. He wasn't entirely in the crowd, but he was on a platform off the stage sitting on the fence and like giving people high fives and shit. I was aggressively headbanging when he did this and was mad confused when people started pushing me to the side. Like why was everyone running to the left?? Then I raised my phone because I couldn't see of the crowd and I saw that Chad was in the crowd lmao. What a Chad.
Tumblr media
Now Rob Zombie... My beloved... This concert was AMAZING. The colors, the set, the vocals, JOHN 5??? Amazing. My favorite part was when they did a tribute for Joey Jordison. Rob told the crowd how he used to play with them and how Joey's favorite song to play was Scum of The Earth so they played that for him. I got a little emotional when they did ngl.
ALSO JOHN 5??? DID I MENTION JOHN??? Oh my god, so I got up to the front of the stage because the crowd was trying to get to the front and instead pushed me into the barricade. John leaned agaisnt part of the stage and like looked at me and nodded his head??? Like sir??? I have a photo of him leaning, but he looked away when I got the photo.
Tumblr media
Then he went to toss me a pick towards the end of the concert and I nearly caught it BUT this dick bag beside me shoved me out of the way and stole it from me. John GLARED at this mf and like ran his finger over his throat while looking at them. Then John looked back at me and gave me a thumbs up as if to ask if I was okay and I just nodded and smiled like a dumbass because HOLY FUCK JOHN 5 NOT ONLY ACKNOLEDGED ME AND TRIED TO GIVE ME A PICK, BUT ALSO THREATENED A MAN IN MY HONOR??? I am fr living the dream.
My other favorite part was when they played House of 1000 corpses. It was just so pretty and the fake snow was so cool. Plus they put on cowboy hats so that was hot. The song started and I just SCREAMED and then I screamed "I LOVE YOU SHERI" At a photo of sheri on the big screen and like 8 people screamed "WE LOVE YOU TOO" LMAOOO It was so silly. It was so fun to dance to and headbang ugh I am excited to see him again in September hopefully. Plus, Otis showed up on screen and I was all >:o the whole time and nearly screamed "I LOVE YOU OTIS" but restrained the monster fucker in me 💪💀
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Overall a good beginner festival to go to! It was so fun seeing all the metalhead there and just people who like the same music as me! I saw a bunch of people with Knotfest shirts as well so I didn't feel as bad since I had my cousin make my vest Slipknot-themed lmao. Hope you enjoyed my rambling. I'll post some of the other photos and videos later!

How are ya likin warship game? :3
I actually really enjoy warships! Slower paced, methodical, gotta think several steps ahead for higher tier gameplay, certainly scratches an itch that I’ve had for a while since I mostly play destiny.
The USS cruiser line was low key hell to grind through and almost dictated that you do the bastard cruiser thing of hiding behind an island and shooting which is kinda boring. Maybe I just need a good commander for them.
The IJN DD line of course is fun and it’s been a great time learning how not to rely on the prediction path and trapping your enemies with a nice torp barrage. Still have plenty to learn but it’s one of my favorite lines. Big sad they don’t have Ayanami.
BB’s (USS/HMS/IJN) have been hit or miss. My sweet spot for those seem to be the tier 5 ships (lookin at you Fuso my beloved) since I think I’m still just bad at aiming for citadel shots. Again maybe just a really good commander here would help with reload time but it’s fun doing the battleship dance of firing and then swinging back into position with your armor in front to tank the return fire.
Special shout out to Omaha and Mutsuki for being unexpected GOATs on my team almost every time I take them out. ESPECIALLY hilarious when I’m in a DD fight with Mutsuki and I keep chipping the enemy DD down with my pea shooter while they just keep missing every single shot. Bonus points if it’s an USS DD. Also special shout out to that Omaha game recently where I had 2 battleships trying to gun me gun while I backed up in an almost perfectly straight line and killed one of them while surviving the game. I’m sure the salt was real over there lol

Happy Halloween!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
By Anders Tornsø Jørgensen
This will be a short and sweet post about my first real celebration of Halloween. Thanks to Kelsey, my fellow intern and roommate, I had a blast!
But first, let’s get some history about this beloved tradition, which 69 percent of the American population is expected to celebrate this year, according to the National Retail Federation.
Halloween is celebrated each year on October 31, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Saints’ Day, also known as All Hallows' Day. Most people know Halloween as an American tradition filled with spooky, carved pumpkins and children dressed up going door to door with the message of “trick or treat”. But the tradition traces back to the Celts, who some 2,000 years ago lived in what is today Ireland. On October 31, the Celts celebrated the New Year under the name Samhain. As well as being a day of celebration to say goodbye to the old year and celebrate the new one, it was also believed that on this day the dead rose from the grave to haunt the living and find their way to the underworld. Everything was therefore done to scare away the evil spirits. To keep these spirits at bay, beets were hollowed out, faces were cut into them and then used as lanterns, while masks and other disguises were supposed to trick the spirits into thinking that the Celts had also risen from the dead, and the spirits would therefore leave them in peace. When the Celtic areas were Christianized, the church made the celebration of the dead Christians an essential part of the tradition. This became known as All Saints' Eve, or in Scottish: “All Hallows Eve.” Seems familiar? That’s because this is where the word "Halloween" comes from. It’s actually a contraction of All Hallows' Eve.
Some of the traditions from the original Celtic New Year celebration lived on and moved with Irish and Scottish immigrants to the United States in the 19th century. Here they came up with the idea of making lanterns out of pumpkins instead of beets, as the pumpkins were easier to hollow out and in season precisely around 31 October.
While I have always been an admirer of American culture, I have never really celebrated Halloween back in Denmark. However, since the end of the 1990s, the American Halloween tradition has become increasingly widespread in Denmark, strongly shaped, and strengthened by the power of popular culture. In preparation for my first Halloween celebration, I watched a bunch of films associated with the holiday, including classics ‘Halloween’, ‘Scream’, ‘Hocus Pocus’, and ‘It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown’. As you can see, that included horror films, but also comedies, so I tried to ensure a great variety.
My Halloween celebration began Friday after work, when Kelsey and I went to Walmart to shop for candy. Walmart had everything ready, including a brain-shaped cake, which I found quite fascinating. Anyway, we bought a bunch of different chocolate brands – my favorites being Reese's Peanut Butter Cups – two pumpkins, a few decorations, and some flameless candles to place in our two pumpkins. While spooky decor and classic costumes are the usual symbols of Halloween, you can't forget about the iconic jack-o'-lantern, so when we got back, we immediately began the important work on our pumpkins. This was my first time trying this, so I think, without bragging, that the result was pretty great! It was an interesting process all the way from scooping out all the pulp to designing the face. I ended up making a happy and goofy side, and then an angry, scarier, face on the other side. Then we added our lights into our two new friends, and voila! Mission accomplished.
The next day we went to visit Omaha with two of our colleagues with a new mission to find a Halloween costume, but also to celebrate Diwali, India’s most important and biggest holiday of the year. Diwali, also known as Festival of Lights, actually took place last week. But I enjoyed learning about this holiday, and it also turned out to be a perfect chance to try some of Omaha’s finest Indian food, including some pretty spicy, but delicious, stuff. After a great time at Omaha’s Astoria Biryani House, we went shopping in various thrift shops, looking for the perfect Halloween costume. I had originally planned to be a baseball player due to my newfound interest in America’s pastime, but it turned out to be an impossible task. Instead, I ended up finding the right gear to dress up as a truck driver. However, people insist, that I look more like Forrest Gump, so maybe I need to find a box of chocolate.
During Sunday, Kelsey and I went to the cinema in nearby Atlantic, Iowa, to see ‘Halloween Ends’ which is the thirteenth, and latest, installment in the Halloween franchise. This franchise began back in 1978 with John Carpenter’s cult classic simply named ‘Halloween’. Considered one of the greatest and most influential horror films ever made, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" in 2006, which I found pretty groovy.
Anyway, a visit to the cinema meant that I could enjoy a big bag of buttered popcorn, another great American invention, which I think should be introduced in Danish cinemas. It’s worth every calorie, including the greasy fingers.
We arrived home just in time to receive the local kids, who in Elk Horn happens to do trick-or-treating Sunday night. Yesterday, nearby Exira had their trick-or-treating, and on the day of Halloween, nearby Kimballton will have theirs. That sure seems to be a good deal for the kids, who gets a lot of candy due to this arrangement! And this means that I don’t have to rush home to get ready for an army of hungry kids. Halloween is not a federal holiday, which means it’s a workday for most people. So, if you're rushing home to answer your doorbell, you're certainly not the only one.
Anyway, a lot of kids came to knock on our door during Sunday evening. It was lovely to see all the creative costumes, my favorite being a little adorable girl dressed as enormous pumpkin, but also a boy in a giant chicken suit. The Hershey chocolate bars from our candy bowl was the biggest hit of the night, and I totally get that: Hershey is pretty yummy, and my second favorite after Reese’s peanut pieces of decliousness. I truly enjoyed witnessing the energy and good spirits among the kids, including a proud big brother holding his little sister’s hand and taking her from house to house. On films you always see people toilet papering a house, but I didn’t see any of that in Elk Horn, which was quite nice. It must be a sign, that the people of Elk Horn are quite generous with handing out candy. Failure to supply a treat would perhaps have resulted in practical jokes. As a matter of fact, one quarter of all the candy sold annually in the U.S. is purchased for Halloween! I also saw a few dogs dressed in costumes, so here’s another funny statistic: Americans spent nearly $500 million on costumes for their pets in 2021. Lastly, the National Retail Federation’s annual Halloween Consumer survey reveals that total Halloween spending in 2022 is expected to reach a record $10.6 billion, exceeding last year’s record of $10.1 billion.
Celebrating Halloween was really enjoyable, and when I return to Denmark, I sure will do my part to celebrate it. Apparently, it’s getting more and more popular back home, which is top-notch for this Dane, who happens to be quite fascinated by American culture. One of my favorite parts was carving out the pumpkin, because it’s a creative exercise, but it’s also quality time with friends: laughs and great conversations – what’s not to like despite a little pumpkin pulp? And the same goes for the trick-or-treating part: Seeing those kids’ genuinely smile when they receive a candy bar is a great feeling and it made me so happy. Finally, I would like to offer a sincere kudos to that dedication, which I think characterize many Americans: I love to see how innovatively people have decorated their homes, making it look like haunted houses. Americans sure do seem to love Halloween unconditionally.
As of tomorrow, my colleagues and I will meet up in our costumes. And I am very excited to experience this! I’m sure it will be a lot of fun. Also, another benefit of being an intern at the Museum of Danish America is all the sweet treats my generous colleagues bring each week. I have properly never eaten so many treats in my life, and I even worked in a kindergarten once, so I know what I am talking about.  I am pretty confident that tomorrow will be a day filled with Halloween-related snacks, treats, and cakes, so I look forward to dive into that and to see what the day brings! On a final note, I’ll end this blog post with a message of two simple words: Happy Halloween!

College Football Is The Most Passionate Game - 17 Reasons Why
Many of these services claim they can help you get more exposure for college coaches. But I'd be wary about services that charge high fees. They don't appeal to me enough to make me spend a lot of cash on a service like this. Jerry Rice is known for running every pass route to the end zone during practice. All routes. This was about finishing. Hustling. Never giving up. Bill Romonowski talks about how, in his rookie season, he observed Rice doing this, and, in order to get noticed both on the field and in film, would chase Rice down.all the way to the end zone. He was a regular starter by mid-season. Once the zone is identified you have to see what type of zone it is. Like a zone defense in basketball, a zone defense in football wants to keep the ball in front and in certain areas of the field. They often want to force an offense to put the ball at a specific spot. They will sometimes give up yards to force the offense to make a big play, but they won't do it. ZMA may be the most overlooked supplement for recovering from training. Studies have shown that football players, and especially athletes, are deficient for magnesium. The harder you train, the more the minerals are burned up. click here There are many theories about what the secret is to this level of success, but one thing is certain: coaches seem to be genuinely concerned about their players, and the players seem to care about their coaches. You don't need to look very far to see the bonds many of the great coaches have with former players 30-40 years after the player played their last game for their beloved coach. You know what they say is about people who do the exact same thing over and over, but expect different outcomes. This is often the definition of "insanity" in the classic sense. It seems that many of our youth football coach friends suffer from this player-decimating affliction. They do the same thing over and over again, only to get the same disappointing results or worse. I went through this post-season assessment in my first years of coaching youth soccer. I knew that I needed better football players to solve the problem. My thoughts were that all I needed to solve my problem was a better player for x, a better player for y, and more motivated kids. It was always the kids fault, I just needed a "good team" and we would do well. Some youth football coaches believe that the more players, the better. Many of these coaches believe that if they have more players, they will have a better chance of finding a star to lead their team. A local team had 40-60 players and lost most of its games. Poor coaching can often overcome large talent pools. One of our Omaha league teams faced a team with 52 players. Most teams in the league have between 22 to 35 players. High numbers are guaranteed to cause headaches for head coaches, but very low numbers will not.

The black and white scene of Kim’s apartment after the episode and the Bob Odenkirk narration about the happy ending has me thinking my theory about Kim and Jimmy was right. That they will eventually get back together in the gene timeline since her hometown is near Omaha. It seems so important that the scene was in black and white just like all the gene scenes. I just can’t shake that. I’m so hopeful… can’t stand to see anything bad happen to my beloved Kimberly

Autism Awareness/Acceptance Month
Day 5!
“Special Interests”
Have a quiet Autie in your life? That won’t last long if you tap into their special interest. We can’t shut UP when we find someone who’s genuinely curious about what lights us up.
Every older Autie I know has at least one special interest, sometimes several.
Mine? Dogs. Primarily.
And I mean EVERYTHING dog, but starting with behavior. Then in no particular order, health/genetics, various breeds and their traits, training....literally everything. Even the genes that define coat color & pattern, and what physical genetics are tied to behavior (if you’re curious about that, start with the Russian studies about domesticated foxes and what happened to their red coats, the more tame they became). It was horses when I was younger, but I soon moved to dogs when getting into my late teens (more affordable and accessible I guess lol). And if I don’t know the answer to your questions, we find out together, because I *need* to know, too. 😉 I can talk dogs with you literally all day and never get bored...which helps socially, too (I’ve mentioned that most of my closest friends are dog people) - I have a larger network of friends than most other auties I know, and it’s because of a shared passion for all things dog.
Then there’s the sciences, but particularly quantum & theoretical physics. I. Fucking. Love. Physics. LOVE IT. Unfortunately, my brain hits a wall with more advanced mathematics, so I can’t “do” physics on the level I want to. Luckily for me, my oldest son is also pretty obsessed with it, and he is now pursuing a degree in physics....so when he comes home, we sit down with his notes and he breaks it down for me (the language behind the experiment or action). I have pictures of his notes saved on my phone, for simply the silly reason that I like the patterns of the math (it’s the “universal language”, if you didn’t know), and like to daydream about understanding it. (He struggles with the math as well...we are both HEAVILY right brained...but he manages.) If there’s a documentary out there about physics (plus many lectures), I’ve probably seen it multiple times. Idk why quantum physics in particular interests me...maybe because it’s almost like magic. ☺️ Quantum entanglement fascinates me, and the theory that things aren’t what they are unless/until you observe them...I can get stuck absolutely obsessing over these things.
Nature/animals are the big background special interest that the specifics tie into, though (and this ranges from astrophysics to the life cycle and structure of an ant colony - and even human psychology). Concerning observable animal/plant nature though (and this is a big one for me), Sir David Attenborough is my hero lol- no one else answers the questions I have, and opens up the natural world for me, like that dude. It was Mutual of Omaha’s nature shows when I was a kid, now it’s him. Sorry not sorry, but a doc on the secret life of plants is *fucking riveting* to me. Science is my JAM! 😆 I am happy to recommend any docs to any other fellow science nerds (Through the Wormhole, The Elegant Universe, and Cosmos are all MUST SEE - if you’re a nature nerd, of course Blue Planet, Our Planet, Life...gosh. So many great series). When I get on a science kick, I get the same feelings I get when I’ve tapped into a difficult dog’s psyche, and we start to figure things out. It’s an absolute thrilling obsession, and I am very restless until all my “why/how” is answered. It’s never enough - I never know enough, and I never will.
It’s also an area where my perpetual 2-3 year old is consistently mostly satisfied. I mean that’s the whole scientific community in a nutshell LOL! “WHY?” “HOW?!” When I was a kid, I’d have to write down all my questions that weren’t answered by our Encyclopedias, and wait till the weekly library trip to find the answers I sought. Now, I have a smartphone and Google LOL....and I cannot even begin to describe how consciously thankful I am for that quick access to answers!! Questions will *eat me alive* sometimes, so answering them in a timely fashion is sooooo satisfying 😆
I guess I’m a bit of an artist/creative personality. I’m unhappy when I don’t have space to create....but that space is pretty damn large, because I’m into almost all of it (you can’t exactly fit a miter and bandsaw into your apartment studio, so I’m very grateful I have the space for the power tools LOL...)

From building things to fabric crafts, I love it all. I get way burned out if one of those things become a “job”, though (ehh except being paid as a regular employee of a historic renovation construction firm LOL) - something I HAVE to do. Then it’s not enjoyable anymore. I had started down a path of marketable creations, and they were in high demand...but then it became something I HAD to do for money, instead of wanting to do for enjoyment - and I haven’t touched that particular craft in 8 years or more now (which frustrates people, because I was good at it). 🤷🏻‍♀️ That’s one of those things I really can’t help. My oldest son seems to be sort of similar....he’s commissioned several pieces (and secured his first few at a VERY young age), but he also tends to get a little frustrated when he’s expected to create something, instead of the urge naturally striking him. The whole beauty and satisfaction from art - for me anyway - stems from pure imagination without constraints. When you’re doing something to please someone, it ceases being art, and turns into just...a skilled task you completed. That’s how I look at it, anyway. So even though I could actually make my art into a career (at least supplementary income), it ceases to be enjoyable for me *at all*, unless I’m creating something for someone who means a lot to me. That, and I really just prefer to give my stuff as gifts. It makes me feel good to see people light up with joy over what I’ve made for them, whatever it was. (I also do a shitload of remote training with people and their dogs, for free. I point folks towards the trainers I respect if they need extensive in person work, but lots of folks don’t have several hundred bucks to sink into understanding their dogs better...so...I just help where I can, now. I think it *used to* frustrate my husband, but he absolutely understands now & is cool with it.)
Oh. And rocks and minerals. I’m an obsessive rockhound LOL - and a cousin is a geologist, so he can break down how and why each is so unique, how it formed & why, etc. I’m actually currently converting a large yard sale antique wardrobe into a piece that can showcase Sir Tommy on one side, and my extensive rock and mineral collection on the other (waaaay not extensive enough, but you might be surprised how expensive quality specimens are. Take moldavite for example...fascinating thing...little chip of it about the size of your pinky nail will run you $20 +, because it’s rare. And yes I am fascinated by the metaphysical value attached to these minerals, and why that’s even a thing.) The way minerals form - let’s cite Aragonite as an example - just captivates me.
So I guess those are my main special interests! If you have a *young* Autie in your life, try to expose them to various things. To find a “special interest” is to find a way to ground ourselves. Special interests are a bit different than...well, I’m not sure what words work for stim interests that you can escape into for NT’s, but it’s less of an interest, and more of an obsession for us. It consumes us.
So anyway, EVERY Autie has a special interest. It could be science, it could be gaming (that’s a big one with lots of males, and not a small one for Autie women either, because it’s an escape you actually have to engage your brain in) or computers; it could be mathematics or art. It could be animals and nature. But eventually (for those of you with wee Auties), Your Pet Autie ™️ will find something that they absolutely obsess over & gets them excited to share their knowledge or creations with you. I encourage parents of auties to help them explore the world and find their niche. It helps us navigate your world, and find a way to be at home in it. It also gives us something to fixate on other than our bumbling attempts at fitting in to a world not built for us.
Circling back - if you know an autistic in your life that you want an “in” to get to know, start with their special interest. (Of course we recognize when you’re doing it just for the merits, versus when you actually want to learn something from us, but we appreciate both, really. It gives us a chance to ...idk. Feel important, maybe. At least that’s what it is to me, and my boys. We love to feel needed for our knowledge!)
Special interests are truly your “in” to an Autie, regardless of what their subject is.
So that’s MY take on the special interests. What lights your beloved Autie up?
