Ever since you were little, you've always imagined the big fairytale wedding. The poofy dresses, the fancy tuxedoes, the glass champagne flutes, the shiny chandelier, all of it. As a young child, the idea of the wedding was more important than the actual meaning of the wedding. Sure, it was the moment you'd cement the rest of your life with the love of your life, but you hadn't realized that yet.

As you got older, you slowly began to realize the meaning of what a wedding was. You still dreamed about the wedding, though. A barn wedding with your closest family members.

When you reached adulthood, the prospect of actually getting married struck. That's when you realized just how expensive it was to get married, so the idea of a small courthouse wedding with a reception with your closest friends and family in your parents' backyard was your new dream.

Now, though, you dreamed about the spouse to whom you'd be saying "I do". What would they be like? What would their hair look like? What about their laugh—was it annoying or bearable? Were they clean and organized? Did they do things that you absolutely couldn't? What about their smell? Were they smelly?

Mostly, you had two thoughts that ran through your head. Well, two. Would they love you until death do you part? And, would you be happy with the decision to spend the rest of your life with them?

Sure, you could file for a divorce or an annulment, but you didn't want to get married more than once. One time, you always said. You wanted to find the one. You didn't want to do it more than once to find the one (but if it took more than once, then that's okay!).

For the longest time, it didn't feel like you'd find the one who'd fulfill the role. You couldn't find the one who you'd want to bring home to your parents. You couldn't find the one who you'd want to spend the rest of your life with. So, you resorted back to daydreaming about that fairytale romance from when you were a child. That fantasy. If you could find someone you'd want to do that dream with, you'd know you've found the one.

Man, were you wrong.

You met Oliver Ekman-Larsson, and that's when it all changed.

From his easy-going smile to the accent that made your mind mush, you knew he was the one. From his ability to always make you laugh to his soul-crushing hugs (this is good!), you knew that he'd fit into the fairytale wedding you've dreamed about since you were a child.

But then again, that all didn't matter.

Most people said you were crazy for dating Oliver considering (a) his job and (b) the fact the two of you discussed marriage on the first date.

It was a blind date. Well for him, it was a blind date, but you had the chance to Google him and eliminate the idea that he was a creep. You had to beg Elias and Brock for his name when they told you they'd set you up with someone.

At first, the date started out awkward, but then Oliver proposed the idea of playing 36 Questions to try to ease the tensions. At first, the questions were surface-level questions about age, job, favorite color, etc. Then, though, the deep questions went first. Oliver was the one to break the ice and begin the deep questions.

"What kind of wedding do you want?" he asked.

You looked at him in shock. Most people said that getting this serious on the first date was a red flag and a sign things weren't going to work out, but he seemed genuine as if he really wanted to know. He asked, and he wanted to know. There was something about the softness in his eyes that made you realize that him asking the questions wasn't a red flag.

So, you dug in. You told Oliver all about the fairytale wedding you've dreamed about since you were a child. And when you told him, he soaked it all in. He didn't laugh. He asked questions, probing for more information from you. He was engaged. Although it was only the first date, you knew that Oliver was someone you'd always want in your life even if it ended up being as friends if dating didn't work out.

One date turned to another to another to the point where you were wearing his jersey to home games and sitting with other spouses. One month turned into two months which turned into one year, two years, three years, to four years where he proposed.

You couldn't really say when or where you realized that Oliver was the one. Maybe it was when you were talking to your soon-to-be sister-in-law as she discussed her upcoming nuptials. It made you think about what it would be like to marry Oliver and spend every day of your life with him. It made you think about the fancy champagne flutes and the chandelier. It made you think about all the other fantasies you've had of getting married. You'd marry Oliver in a fancy ballroom. You'd marry Oliver in a barn. You'd marry Oliver in a courthouse with a reception in your parents' backyard. You'd marry Oliver on the moon or in a treehouse because it didn't really matter where. As long as Oliver was the one you'd be marrying, then you'd have what you wanted.

For as long as you could remember, the dream wedding was the location and the reception and the outfits and the cake and the music and the champagne flutes and the speeches. Now, though, your dream wedding was Oliver. As long as he was the one you were marrying, then that's all you'd need.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson was your dream wedding.

That doesn't mean, though, that the stress of planning the wedding wasn't there. It still was because you had mothers and fathers and siblings and grandmothers and grandfathers and best friends and Brocks to appease. They all had their input.

"I won't let you do this alone; don't worry," Oliver reassured you one night when you broke down about the seating arrangement. "I'm right here, okay?"

You nodded and leaned into his embrace. They could have all the input they wanted in the wedding from the balloons to the flowers to the cake topper, but one thing they didn't get to have input on was you and Oliver. That was one part of your dream that remained untouchable, and that's what comforted you. Oliver and you, forever.

you watched as your son, viktor, ran around the yard with a few other kids. it was his birthday, so he was full of energy and very excited, all before he even had his cake.

"viktor, come eat something." you hollered.

"but mama," he whined, pouting.

"listen to mama, vik." oliver stepped in.

viktor pouted, but trudged towards you and sat down in his birthday boy seat, the seat he had decided he wanted to sit in. his friends followed behind, and took their seats.

the moment all his friends were done eating, they were off and running and off playing again. viktor on the other hand was a slower eater and savored his food.

"can i have seconds, mama?" viktor asked.

"you want seconds? do you want to play with your friends?" you smiled, spooning some more noodles and another bread roll onto his plate.

"yeah, but after pasta." he giggled to himself, then dug into the plate of food in front of him.

"wow, that kid really is your mini-me." one of viktor's friend's mom commented with a laugh.

you laughed, "he's more oliver's, but when it comes to food, he's more like me, yeah." you nodded.

"all done." viktor wiped his mouth, then pushed his chair out and ran along with his friends.

"don't run too fast, viktor." you shouted after him.

"i won't." he shouted, but quickly got distracted when his friends started a game of tag.

"maybe the next one'll be more like you." oliver hummed, wrapping his arms around you and running his hands over your stomach.

"i doubt that." you shook your head.

"awh, come on." oliver laughed.

"viktor is literally your carbon copy, and knowing that the little bean cooking up is a boy, that means he's also gonna be your carbon copy." you pouted.

"viktor might be my carbon copy, and you know what that means?"

"what?"

"he's a mama's boy." oliver beamed proudly.

"that's true." you nodded.

"i know. so, that means that little bean cooking up inside is also gonna be a mama's boy." he pressed a kiss to your head.

(day 6) christmas sweaters , oliver ekman-larsson

note, this fic is part of my 14 days of christmas. check out this masterlist if you're interested. none of these fics in this series are connected, they are all standalone. pair, oliver ekman-larsson x reader summary, oliver comes home with y/n for the holidays, but there's one thing she left out. y/n's mom has a stockpile of christmas sweaters, one from each year since her older brother was born. and when she heard oliver was coming over, she immediately ordered one for him too. warnings, one curse word (is ass a curse word?) word count, 1277 words

"So, remind me again, who's coming?" Oliver asked as he took the seat next to you in the practically empty airport. You were traveling a few days before Christmas, and you'd think it would be crowded, but for some reason, it wasn't.

"Well, us, my mom, my dad, my brother, and his wife and two kids, my sister and maybe her boyfriend, and lastly, my grandma and grandpa." You listed.

"Okay, so a full house." Oliver nodded along.

"Yep." You nodded, taking a sip of your drink.

"Did you pack all the gifts?" He asked.

"I did." You nodded, "Geez, you'd think I'd be nervous about these things, but you're the one who's nervous." You joked.

"I have every right to panic." He stood back up and began his pacing again, "This is the first year we're spending Christmas with your family."

"I know, but it's not like you've never met them before. We've spent Thanksgiving with them and we've spent summer with them before. Just breath." You tried to reassure your boyfriend.

He took a deep breath and sat back down in the seat next to you. You handed him your coffee, which he greedily shot back, "Hey!"

"I'm the one panicking here," Oliver repeated. You only sighed, sitting back in the chair.

You got out of the Uber and walked up the small rock path to the door of your childhood home. Before you could even knock your mom was ripping the door open and enveloping you in a hug.

"Oh, hi, mom." You laughed, dropping your suitcase handle and wrapping your arms around her.

"We haven't seen you in so long." She murmured.

"We saw you a month ago." You reminded her.

"I know, but that was so long ago." She squeezed you tighter before pulling away so she could look at you. She spotted Oliver behind you and quite literally pushed you aside.

"Oh, Oliver." She wrapped her arms around him.

".2 seconds ago you were so excited to see me." You muttered. Your dad came out of the kitchen, an apron tied around his waist.

"I thought I heard you come in." He beamed, wrapping his arms around you.

"Hi, dad." You smiled.

"How was the flight? Are you tired? We've your room all set up." She told Oliver, who looked slightly overwhelmed.

"Geez, Celine, let them breathe." Your dad laughed, pulling away from you, and looked over to Oliver, "Good to see you again, Oliver."

"And you as well, Mr. Y/L/N." Oliver smiled.

"Oh, please, call me Rod."

"All right." Oliver nodded, letting out a relieved sigh when your dad pulled away. He took his spot next to you, and he grabbed your hand.

"Your room is all set if you guys want to get settled in. Your sweaters are on your bed, so put them on then come back down. I want to see if they fit. If not, I'll fix it." Your mother pushed you upstairs.

"Sweaters?" Oliver asked confused.

"You didn't tell him about the sweaters?" Your father asked.

"Well...I..." You stuttered, trying to find the words.

"Y/N'll tell you upstairs." Your father cut in. A timer went off in the kitchen, and he was off, "Those are my potatoes." He rushed off to the kitchen.

"I can't believe you didn't tell him about the sweaters." Your mother playfully glared as she made her way back into the living room where he previously was.

"What sweaters?" Oliver asked again.

You chuckled, walking into your bedroom, where two Christmas sweaters were sitting on your bed, "My mom always buys family Christmas sweaters. She gets them for every family member who celebrates with us."

"She got one for me?" Oliver asked, almost tearfully as he examined the sweater.

"Yeah, of course she did. You're a part of this family now." You smiled, "I've never brought a guy home until you, so you're very special."

"Oh, I feel very special." Oliver joked.

"Just put the sweater on." You rolled your eyes and smiled as you walked out of your childhood room and back down to the living room, already wearing your sweater.

Oliver quickly followed, slipping his sweater on as he stumbled down the stairs, "Oh, look at the two of you." Your mother gushed, already reaching for her camera.

"Mom..." You sighed.

"Oh, let her." Your father voiced from the kitchen. Oliver chuckled, pressing a kiss to your head as he wrapped an arm around your shoulders, smiling for the photo.

The next day, everyone else had arrived and the house was lively. Tons of gifts were under the tree, all the Christmas lights were turned on, there were snow angels and snowmen in the front yard, and the house smelled like hot chocolate and cinnamon.

"Now can we open presents, grandma?" Your niece, Angela asked, tugging on your mother's shirt.

She laughed, "Yes, go wait in the living room." Both your niece and nephew sprinted into the living room as the rest of you congregated to the living room. All of you were decked out in your Christmas sweaters.

Your sister-in-law and mother made quick work of passing out all the gifts to the designated people. The moment presents were presented to Angela and Henry, they were tearing the wrapping paper off.

Your mother handed you a gift with a knowing smile on her face. You raised a brow, but read the name tag of who it was from, "I thought were already gave each other our gifts." You glanced over at Oliver.

He only shrugged with a smirk. You ripped the paper off to reveal what looked like a ring box. Your breathing hitched as you opened the lid, "Before you panic, it's not an engagement ring." You laughed, "It's a promise ring of sorts." He explained.

"And if you look inside, there's an inscription." He pointed. You pulled out the ring and on the inside was your favorite quote, from Pride and Prejudice. It read, "You have bewitched me body and soul and I love, love, love you."

"Ollie." You laughed, wrapping your arms around his neck.

"You like it?" He teased.

"I love it." You pulled away, kissing him on the cheek.

After all the presents were opened, your brother explained the tech item he had gotten for your mom and dad. Your sister was helping your grandparents with their Alexa speaker and your sister-in-law was playing with Henry and Angela.

You and Oliver watched everything, just enjoying the moment wrapped up in each other's arms, "I really like my ring. Thank you, Ollie."

"I'm glad." He smiled, pressing another kiss to your forehead.

"Family photo!" Your mother announced. Oliver unwrapped himself from you and stood up.

"I'll take it." He volunteered.

"What're you talking about? You're gonna be in the photo." Your mother smacked his hands away.

"Really, it's fine. I can take it." He insisted.

"Sit your ass back down, Oliver." Your mother pushed him back in your direction. She set the camera up, and hit the capture button, then quickly got into her spot next to your dad. You could hear the countdown, then felt the flash.

She got up and examined the photo, "Oh, it's perfect." She gushed.

You looked up at your boyfriend, "You're a part of this family, you know." You told him.

"I guess so. It's gonna take some time to settle in, though." He admitted.

"Well, get used to it. You're stuck with me now. We can never break up, like ever." You told him.

He laughed, "It's a good thing I don't plan on it." You smiled, wrapping your arms around his waist, and hugged him close.

taylor’s 14 days of christmas

iin case you didn't know, i love holidays, especially chrismtas. it's my favorite holiday. so, every other day until christmas, i will drop a fic every other day. i'm doing 14 days, which includes christmas eve and christmas eve.

just want to say there's a lot of dad!player fics in here because imagining all of them as dads makes my heart melt, so if you don't like that or if that makes you uncomfortable, please don't read those. i don't want to make anyone uncomfortable.

day one (december 1) - the star - andrei svechnikov

y/n and andrei, with the help of their two kids theo and anastasia, decorated their house for christmas.(part of the “mr. and mrs. svechnikov” series) (forgot to add this edit)

day two (december 3) - lights out - joel farabee

while y/n and joel are decorating their home for christmas, the power goes out, leaving them both in the dark.

day three (december 5): dreaming of a white christmas - quinn hughes

y/n's lived in a city where it never snows, so when she moves to vancouver, her one goal is to wake up on christmas morning to a white snowy chrismtas.

day four (december 7): santa claus is coming to town - sidney crosby

y/n and sidney spend the day with their children, putting up the christmas tree, decorating the house, making cookies, writing letters to santa, and most important of all, getting cups of hot chocolate.

day five (december 9): cookie decorating - william nylander

y/n used to decorate cookies with family before christmas every year, so will and y/n decided to continue the tradition with their family. (part of "the nylander diaires" series)

y/n's never met nico's parents. not in the whole year and a half they've been dating. so he invited y/n home for the holidays, and introduces her to the family.

day nine (december 17): lit up like a chrismtas tree - oliver wahlstrom

y/n and oliver live on opposite sides of the country, so as a little holiday surprise, oliver decides to fly out and surprise her.

day ten (december 19): baby's first christmas - freddie andersen

y/n and freddie spend their first christmas as parents with little baby elias. (part of the "andersen adventures" series)

day eleven (december 21): special delievery - jamie oleksiak

y/n's due date was christmas, but baby oleksiak decides they don't want to wait that long, and decides to come sooner.

day twelve (december 23): christmas is going to the dogs - tyler seguin

tyler and y/n celebrate christmas with the dogs.

day thirteen (december 24): a cliche chrismtas love story - jeff skinner

y/n gets dumped right before christmas, so to drown her sorrows she goes to a bar where she meets jeff.

day fourteen (december 25): all i want for christmas is a dog - erik johnson

the only thing the johnson kids want for christmas is a dog. (part of the "life with the johnsons" series).
