@lightsmartyr + prompt: ❝ there is no law that gods must be fair. ❞ yuri @ claude
"of course."
nature, after all, simply is. the wind that directs almyran sails can be so cruel and merciful, but it is all ultimately up to them to decide. and there's freedom in being so left to one's own devices, a freedom so lovely and terrible. the sum of it comforts him. yet, khalid knows—and the thought fills him with a sense of othering—that yuri’s mind is elsewhere when it comes to gods. for the sake of remaining discrete, he follows that path, that fódlanese line of thinking he has learned to adapt to, like sinking back into leaves, drowning in sand. ah, nature, again. unshakable. “in fact, i would rather there not be any laws pertaining to gods at all. divine punishment hasn’t always been about fairness, anyway.” at least not if you read between the lines in all the scripts, even those above abyss, but khalid holds his tongue.
Tumblr media
“don’t think anyone from the clergy would be too eager to agree with you, though. seems they all trust that the goddess knows what’s fair.” his finger traces the spine of his book, and there’s only so much light that can filter underground, rendering the nuances of khalid’s expression only visible to trained eyes. and perhaps yuri’s are. so he rolls his shoulders, and, between jest and truth, brightens. “doesn’t exactly sit right with me, a god that meddles in one’s affairs. but keep that between us, will you? unleeess there's a price for your silence that i'm totally unaware of,” oh, there probably most definitely is.
