'live up to your name' au where og knight of blood and iron javier gets "killed" in the middle of the plot but instead of dying he's transported to modern south korea, waking up in a random alleyway with no injuries whatsoever. and because he's a protagonist no matter what universe he is in, despite being deeply disoriented and confused when he sees a group of thugs harassing a guy he steps in and chases them off with no problem and barely any mention of cutting off limbs. and then after making sure the guy is okay he very sheepishly asks him if he could please help him because he was lost and had no idea of where he was or how he got there
and kim suho who just saw a gorgeous but obviously foreign stranger in awesome cosplay chase off his would be muggers with what looked like a real ass sword and is currently high and smitten in "oh thank god i didn't get my week's work salary stolen" endorphins and is about to have the weirdest week of his life innocently says "yes of course"

ironblood!javier who regressed a lot of times and suho who transmigrated into lloyd, javier who is currently suffering, since the everytime he regressed nothing changed and he wasn't able to save anyone, to the point of feeling empty and dead, is waiting for the inevitable tragedies to happen. starting with finding the hooligan lloyd dead but was surprised when 'lloyd' is still alive and became 'changed', especially when 'lloyd' helped him with the asrahan core technique. he is suspicious and thinking of killing this 'lloyd' who is too different from the 2 timelines but stop especially when he was able to reveal the traitors. javier keeps pushing his thoughts of 'revealing to the baron', 'killing the fake' on the back of his mind especially when 'this lloyd' is able to help the barony until finally the debt is cleared, and javier felt happy and alive again and it's all thanks to 'this lloyd' so javier in a way became clingy and dependent to 'lloyd' but still hides it.
ah. Yes. Regressor Javier! Omg. Regressor og Javier?!
This is a really cool idea and I love it every time I read it. I tried to write something that could describe my impressions, but it turned out to be indescribable. This is awesome.
Again. It was my honor to read this 5star dish prompt before anyone else.
It would be great if you wrote it a fic. I will read it immediately and recommend to the world how delicious Regressor Javier is. Thank you...

y'all should read rebar by @/jessepinwheel, it's about an au where suho can see og!lloyd's ghost and it's very well-written!
some fanart of the last chapter where javier is very confused about suho:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
some design notes:
to differentiate the two lloyds, I decided to draw og!lloyd with the early webtoon hair (episodes 1 - 14)- :P honestly, he somehow seems more like a punk that way, which fits.
I drew suho's sword pommel like that cause it looks vaguely like a shovel handle lol-
EDIT: guys, I actually went back and fixed the hands cause they were bothering me so much,, (also I forgot to fill in suho's pants LMAO-)

As penitence for making everyone sad about a hypothetical tragic ending for TGED, here's my entire Pacrim AU that I sketched out for funsies but don't think I'll actually write out the whole thing 💖
Javier was rescued by Arcos back when he briefly piloted the early single-pilot jaegers. Arcos quickly retired as a pilot and worked as an exec, but Javier followed him and became a young protege. Not directly raised or trained by Arcos, but certainly under his wing. Javier is now a genius pilot… mostly. He could pilot the single jaegers like a dream if they were viable, but he only mildly gets along with other pilots. He can drift fine with most people, but never the enough to really make him the top pick. (mirrors him being stuck on the Asrahan Core Technique when lloyd and he first meet.) Tends to be self-sacrificing.
Suho - His family lost their home years ago to kaiju, and they never really recovered financially. Then he lost them to another attack two years ago. Not even to the kaiju itself - [somehow related to being poor - Neglect in rescue efforts? Worse Kaiju panic rooms in the slums?] Poor people are still poor people in pacrim, and he needed cash to live. He joined the wall-making half the time, and the jaeger program basic training program to get him access to more lucrative construction tasks at a Shatterdome. His talent for strategy and adaptability is noted by the program, but isn’t exemplary enough to catch anyone's attention. Suho isn’t planning on selling himself as a pilot anyways. He’d like to live please.
During a college break, the System (for organizing the database of jaeger prospects) mixes up Suho and the now dead Lloyd, and Suho is sent to the Frontera city for mandatory training. Suho is not pleased being yanked around but resolves to find work in Frontera until he can get back to Seoul.
Javier is once again being tested to find a good partner, and Suho ends up on the list. They don’t get along at first, but… they work surprisingly well together in the training grounds. Suho did not think he’d be compatible with the mildly famous prodigy, and is a little panicked at maybe being chosen to pilot. Him deciding that “defeating all the kaiju is definitely the way to finally get a peaceful life” is a very funny idea to me lol. Over the course of a month, they end up working together, both of them opening up; javier looking past suho’s survival mechanisms to see a good man, and suho seeing that javier has a fun personality under all the ice.
Arcos is an exec, more managerial guy. Strategy Room is Sir Bayern. Julian is in school in Seoul and not seen much this fic. OG!Lloyd is dead even without the body swapping, whoops, sorry. “Queen” Alicia is a famous pilot in Korea (seoul might be too far west for pacrim?) with her partner “Knight” Kyle (who will accidentally get brain-touched by a kaiju, go mad, and then try to kill Alicia).

Is there any possibility that the readers of the knight of blood and iron would ship og Javier and Tyrant Alicia?
To be honest, as someone who enjoys both Knight/Queen and Doomed guy alive/Corrupted woman, their chemistry and their potential in the og novel is so delicious :P
(Also, I know that tged Javier/Alicia is such a crack ship but lol)
it is a crack ship and yet! you're not the first person to ask me about it! another nonnie had just about the same idea a while ago 🤭
i kinda talked myself into liking it and while i still find a bit farfetched in canon, fanon is a completely different beast. yes i do see the fandom being big on og javier and tyrant alicia.
this is a fandom that most certainly thrives on seeing their blorbo suffer through the Horrors™, they wouldn't be able to resist such an angsty ship.
also i'm obsessed with the dynamic you gave them. corrupted woman trying to destroy everything in her path and man doomed to live though the tragedies. forever locked in battle. unstoppable force meets immovable object. it is very compelling when you put it like that.
the issue would be getting those two to not kill each other on first sight but fandom has concocted weirder premises. they could figure it out.
personally i'm thinking of a twist of the yi city arc from mdzs, with an injured alicia being separated from her troops for some reason and javier helping her without being aware of just who he is taking care of. seeing as we never get confirmation these two even met in person in the novel, we can handwave away javier not recognizing the tyrant queen as him either never seeing a good portrait of the queen or her changing so much in the years after her descend into madness that she looks nothing like what he'd expect of her.
alicia would bristle at the idea of having to relay on a stranger, a vagrant knight at that, for help, her paranoia and distrust not allowing her to accept javier's aid easily, always being on edge waiting for him to stab her in the back. only to slowly realize that no, there's no hidden motive, javier is just,,, like that. to everyone who needs his help. she's not special, she's not important, she's not anyone of interest to him. and he's still helping her because it's the right thing to do. i think that would break through her insanity a little bit, realizing that she's not,,, someone javier would have any interest on betraying because as far as he knows he has nothing to gain from it.
the relief of finally for the first time in years being allowed to lower her guard because there's no threats around her would allow her mind to regain some of the clarity she'd lost in the midst of her feelings of betrayal and pain.
javier treating her like a person would make her be alicia again and not just the tyrant queen.
meanwhile javier is just. really glad there's been no attacks by the queen recently, cause he really doesn't want to let the injured woman he found on the side of the road all by herself again. she's clearly not well and has been hurt a lot in the past and he wants to make sure she's okay before they go separate ways.
and it's nice. to not be so alone. most of the people he helps have homes and families to go back to and he doesn't begrudge them for that but it does make it all the more lonely to constantly move from one place to another, knowing he has nowhere to go back to.
the woman isn't nice, her words are biting and full with suspicions and threats, she won't even tell him her name but when he asked if there was anywhere safe she could go to, friends or family she could turn to for help, her silence spoke for her.
it's selfish of him. but he's glad they get to have one another, if only for a little while. he knows it won't last, the queen or lupellan or another threat will rise up once again and he'll leave to protect the people that need it. but for now. it's nice.
god like i said i will talk myself into liking if i think about it for too long alkshdkhjkdsf

EXCUSE ME SIR WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT
this is literally not true what the hell is lee hyumnin doing
this whole conversation was completely out of character for both of them. in the novel og lloyd is way more crass and rude the entire time, he doesn't even ask about julian himself and he never expresses any regret or apologizes for anything he did out loud.
and he absolutely hates javier. i cannot emphasize this enough, it is never even hinted at that og lloyd ever cared the slightest about javier. nevermind that he wanted to be his friend or felt sorry about breaking his sword and harassing him as kids.
"Fine. Let's hurry. I never liked that jerk anyway. I don't want to bump into him"
"You don't like him?"
"No." Ghost Frontera nodded at Lloyd's question. And in the most obvious tone, Ghost Frontera retorted, "It's not fair for a human to look like that. I hate him. I feel like life is cheating me whenever I see him, and it pisses me off. I've been in a bad mood ever since my father put that bastard on my side to guard me."
does this sound like a man who just "wanted to become friends with him"??
this is history revisionism and i won't stand for it!!/j
and like. does this really look like a kid who just wants to be friends
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
like. does it.
again javier is six years old here. he saw his parents die in front of him a year ago and then spent an entire winter on the streets fending for himself and is just now finally settling into a new place that was supposed to be safe for him
he looked like this
Tumblr media
look at him. he's a baby.
they're not even the same age!! og lloyd is five years older!! there was never a point in their relationship where og lloyd wasn't just a bigger and older kid harassing a child five years his junior!!
and he didn't feel sorry about it. at least not enough to make amends or even apologize.
and the problem with making og lloyd more sympathetic is that it undercuts just how much he'd fucked up. it makes it look like it was just a misunderstanding and that everyone should've just tried a little bit harder to understand him when no!!! they did try they did love him he just didn't care about it!!
and it's especially egregious when the webcomic seems hellbent in making lloyd look like a total dickhead at every moment possible!
making him kick og lloyd into the reincarnation gate??? telling him he sounded pathetic and didn't want to hear him for another second????why are you making your protagonist so fucking unlikable??? what's the fucking purpose of that???? how come the character that acts like a total asshole in the novel gets to be sympathetic in the adaptation but not your fucking main protagonist??????
that's the main issue actually! making og lloyd more sympathetic always seems to be at the cost of making everyone else look worse which fucking sucks!! because he's not meant to be like that!!! that's not the point of his character!!!
not to mention that they completely rewrote og lloyd's wish to not be born as a human in his next life??? like??? at this point you're just. making shit up. not even trying to follow the original source.
this episode was just. bad. nothing i can really rescue about it it's straight up just a bad adaptation
i hate it here lmao

i think there was a comparison of tcf and tged here but atleast in tged og lloyd's parents still notice their son is not their actual son, unlike cale's family who were glad he just simply become non trash (this was the most upsetting when i read here that arcos and marbella noticed but cale's did not or even the butlers), a non family member didn't wish or say that it was great that og lloyd was replaced by someone else even if that someone is more helpful to the county, unlike alberu who was glad that cale got replaced, and another atleast suho plans to tell the truth to lloyd's parents unlike with rok soo to cale's parents who accepted he is cale (but then again og cale did request to accept the body they are in as who they are actually are)
i feel like i got a bunch of spoilers shoved down my throat but i have no context to them so no harm done ajshdksfd
i have no idea how fair it is to compare tged to tcf, they're two different pieces of media with their own themes, plots and characters going on and different people like different things. that's fine. i just personally disliked that people kept comparing my blorbo to their blorbo to make theirs look better. i don't want to the same thing! that's not very nice!
so i'm just gonna talk about what i do know which is the way tged treated og lloyd! i've read a bunch of isekai stories and it's rare the times the og characters are taken into account or even acknowledged so i was pleasantly surprised with how much focus tged put on the fact that suho did take someone's place, he did lie to his family and he did pretend to be someone he wasn't. and he feels genuinely sorry about it. he doesn't justify it by thinking he's better than og lloyd anyway so no harm done. he genuinely wants to apologize and make it right and he wants to do it at the right moment.
and then when the people around him find out the truth, they're not,,, happy about it. they don't think it was for the best or that og lloyd got what he deserved or that they're glad for it.
javier is the closest thing we get to something like that and even then he's genuinely torn about what he should do with the information. he hated og lloyd, absolutely despised the guy's guts, but even then he's not glad that he got replaced even when he acknowledges the new lloyd is hardworking, constructive and reliable. he doesn't know where his loyalties should lie and he's "filled with anguish" as he tries to decide what to do.
it would've been very easy for bk moon to just go "yeah he doesn't care that the son of the family he swore to protect got replaced by a stranger that's been lying to him for years" like, ahem, some other people would have, but instead he took the time to acknowledge that "hey, this is a genuinely fucked up situation, there's no right answer here, anyway you slice it someone will get hurt and the only way to move forward is to minimize the damage and make amends to the people who were hurt".
which is nice to see in an isekai! even tho og lloyd was absolute human garbage the narrative didn't dismiss him as a person and instead acknowledge that while it wasn't lloyd's fault there was still a someone being hurt by the fact he possessed a body that wasn't his.
and then when his parents find out they genuinely mourn the child they lost. there's no happiness, no joy, not even relief at being rid of a constant source of worry and disappointed. they're so... sad and heartbroken about their son being gone. even while they accept lloyd as their kid, even as much as they come to love him, there is no moment where they express any kind of pleasure about him replacing og lloyd. rather you get the sensation that they wish they could've had both of them at the same time, that they wish one hadn't come at the price of the other, that they love both of them so, so much even as different as they are.
the only one who doesn't express any kind of regret or sadness about og lloyd is julian which... honestly, it's very earned. no one should be forced to mourn their abuser, which exactly what og lloyd was to julian. if julian had expressed sadness over og lloyd that would've been his right, but the fact that he never did, at least not on-screen shouldn't be held against him, considering the amount of hurt og lloyd caused him.
so yeah! i really like the way bk moon handled this aspect of the story! again, i don't know how tcf works or what happens on it and at this point i'm not really interested in knowing! i'm sure it did its own thing and that it was great too!

Oh that og lloyd returns and suho goes through the reincarnation gate ask and answer were incredible. I'm usually like happy ending and would have said that what if javier does the same where he goes to verkis and try to get suho lloyd and does bring him, because i can't imagine suho lloyd staying in seoul alone or worst, but then would it have a happy ending? with him there with og lloyd, he'll also have mixed feelings because it's not the og lloyd he talked at the train or its the same buy forgot their conversation
let's not forget the before suho lloyd comes back and weeks passed by already lorasia, the people of the county, the engineers, the white calvary, alicia, solitas, cordius, orcs, elf, sees og lloyd act and well this is not the person the person that they allied and spent time with
I sincerely agree with this "all in all. not a good time for anyone! which i think fucks i love this scenario it really woke up the brain worms <3"
about this
it's such a fun au because it makes everything immediately worse <3
i also tend to like happy endings more than anything else but i do admit i like putting my blorbos in situations even more salkdjsfds
and yeah javier definitely went looking for lloyd in this au too. probably even sooner than he did in canon lol. cause at least in canon he was certain that lloyd had just been reborn, he thought that he was lost to him forever, that the best he could get was to know if he was happy in his next life. in this version he wouldn't be so sure. after all lloyd crossed the gate and now og lloyd is back. so clearly the reincarnation gate doesn't work as straightforwardly as one might first have assumed.
i think the moment he snapped out of his "should i just throw him back" moment and the guilt over his momentary lapse of control passed he would've gone straight to the jewel of truth and asked what happened to lloyd. and then gone bother one of the most powerful beings in the universe into opening a portal to his bf.
fuck the consequences he wants his lloyd back goddammit
this would simultaneously make everything better and also worse.
better because at least now lloyd isn't, y'know, dead and so everyone who cares for him in whatever shape or form isn't mourning him. arcos and marbella would especially be overjoyed, because now they have all of their children together, they're all okay, they're all safe and this time it will probably stick. julian,,, would be conflicted because he now has to deal with the fact the brother he thought he knew had been lying to him for years and (non-maliciously as it might have been) tricked him into forgiving the person who made his life hell almost his entire life and now there's no handy grief to make it easy to overlook all of that. but i do think he would be very, very happy his hyung he loves and admires so much is alive and safe and now they can get to know each other for real.
worse because now lloyd isn't dead and og lloyd gets to see just how much everyone loves him. just how much respect and affection he earned, how much he achieved, how loved he became in just five years compared to what og lloyd did in his entire life. and man would that suck for the guy. like. genuinely would be a terrible thing to go through. but again. i don't think he would do anything about it. like. he wouldn't see the point. he'd be angry, he'd throw some epic tantrums but i don't think he would put in the effort to change his behavior.
in canon og lloyd achieved some kind of resignation and peace with his situation because he saw first hand the kind of stuff lloyd did, he followed him around, he saw how much effort he put in, the kind of things he went through... it's hard to deny someone has earned something when you see them put their sweat blood and tears into it.
in this au, this og lloyd doesn't get that. as far as he knows he passed out one night and then woke up five-ish years later to find that no only did some fucker walk around in his body for all that time but everyone that he knows is mourning the man. the fucking guy who stole his body. like. yeah i would kind of also be pissed i'm not gonna lie.
he doesn't know how bad things got, how hard it was to save the estate, hell, the entire country, he'd only see all the results and none of the struggles. he wouldn't get why people, his family especially, are so happy to have him back. and he'd get very angry about i think.
and to be fair his anger would be mostly outrage at lloyd stealing his body (unintentionally but still), jealousy and some genuinely hurt feelings. i do think he'd be understandably hurt that his family is apparently more concerned about the guy that impersonated him than for him who was gone for years (*cough* even if i do think he kind of earned it *cough*)
as for lloyd,,, yeah no this is not an ideal situation for him either. he'd be over the moon at being able to come back, don't get me wrong, that part wouldn't change, but to come face to face with the guy he accidentally replaced, whose family he kind of took as his, and who doesn't remember the conversation and tentative truce they came to in hell,,, definitely not how he hoped this would go.
i don't know if he would actually feel very guilty cause like. well at least the guy is alive now. and he's no longer doomed to a self-caused premature death. and he gets to live in a debt-free estate that's been turned into the most powerful territory of the whole continent. so like. he thinks og lloyd got a pretty good deal out of it. yeah losing five years sucks but he would've died a couple years ago anyway.
i do think he'd feel very awkward about calling arcos and marbella 'father' and 'mother' like he wanted to. if he already felt awkward in canon it would be even worse in this au with og lloyd glaring at him from a corner any time their parents so much at smile at him. i don't think it would stop him completely, but he'd definitely tone it down when they're all together.
let's not forget the before suho lloyd comes back and weeks passed by already lorasia, the people of the county, the engineers, the white calvary, alicia, solitas, cordius, orcs, elf, sees og lloyd act and well this is not the person the person that they allied and spent time with
ooff yeah, it's one thing in canon when lloyd just goes away and then comes back with a new face. here they would actually have to deal with the original guy and like. he sucks </3
i do wish we had more info about how much of the situation is public knowledge. we know a couple people know about the whole kim suho thing once he comes back but i don't know how much the fronteras would've told anyone about it beforehand. my guess would be nothing, because honestly it was none of their business lol but i guess in this au they would have to offer some kind of explanation. either they tell the truth or they pretend og lloyd has amnesia and that's why he's different of the way people expect him to be. either way i think it would be a very hard sell in either scenario. funny enough i think the lie is actually more believable in this case lol
again. not a great situation for anyone involved! which i think it's fantastic! maybe not to them but to me <3 which is the most important thing here <33

what if og! Lloyd actually grew a backbone and decide to simply leave/runaway from the Frontera estate when he has this 'i dont wanna stay in this little estate anymore' and ignoring the restoration of fate for this guy, but still following the plot, estate in debt, suicide from fronteras and all that, will javier still be loyal to this lloyd if he ever cross paths with this guy as javier travels? No kim suho though just og lloyd
ooohhhhh that's such a fun scenario. absolutely brutal but very fun.
i wanna say yes. yes he would still be loyal to this lloyd. because, and this is something i will never forgive the webcomic for skipping, arcos knows exactly what it is to want to run away from home and he would absolutely have understood lloyd's decision and never lost hope of one day seeing him again. and he would have asked javier to keep an eye out for lloyd and to take care of him if he ever saw him.
arcos,,, also kinda hated living in the barony when he was younger. he was frustrated, bored and sick of it. he felt like he was locked up, doomed to live as a small noble in the middle of nowhere. so he ran away. he took his father's horse and left in the middle of the night.
he would've absolutely understood lloyd if he had decided to leave their home.
and just like his father rushed to his aid when he needed it, arcos would've done anything to help his child, even if the only thing he could do at that point was ask his knight to keep him safe if he found him again.
and javier, the loyal puppy he is, would've followed his request no matter how much he hated the idea of protecting someone who abandoned the home and family he loved so much. there would even another layer of hatred in his heart against og lloyd as now part of javier would always wonder if arcos would've fallen for the scam had lloyd been there. we know he would've but javier would have no way of knowing.
(there's something... really sad about arcos falling for that scam that doesn't really come across in the adaptation despite it giving more attention to tordes than the novel did. tordes didn't just... offer arcos a lucrative business. he completely fooled him into liking him. he showed up as a passionate, discreet young man with a lot of initiative. someone who shared the same interests and passions, with whom he could talk about his favorite topics, someone he was very compatible with. I thought he and I just clicked. And that's why I trusted him.
arcos who never could quite connect with his oldest son, who was constantly disappointed by his terrible actions and his lack of decency, who had come to despise his child despite how much he still loved him... of course he fell for tordes' scam. he was the perfect target for someone like him.)
at the same time i do think that maybe javier's dislike of him would've been tempered by time and distance. depending on when og lloyd left home perhaps javier's main reason to dislike him would just be very bad childhood memories of him, not the constant acts of violence and harassment he dealt with in canon. mind you, he would still despise him but it would be less of a "you're an active threat to the people around you and a constant disappointment to the people i regard as parents" and more of a "you were a bastard to me when i was a child and you leaving made the family i loved more than anything very sad", which is different if only because javier wouldn't have a reason to actively mistrust him beyond what could be considered childish bullying that happened years ago.
also. i do believe experiencing new places and actually getting a taste of what life is to someone without all the privileges he was born into would've actually done og lloyd some good and he would be less of an asshole in general. still a douche but not as much as a dick as he could be lol
i don't really think javier and him could ever really vibe with each other but at least they wouldn't actively hate each other like they do in canon
so in summary yes! i do think javier would still be loyal to this version of og lloyd and would protect him for as long as he was able to
that's just. the kind of guy javier is. loyal to the very end.

If og lloyd returns to his body after suho crosses the reincarnation gate what do you think will the frontera family and javier feel? Would they be glad for og lloyd's return? Particularly julian and javier?
so uhm. tumblr ate a similar ask i received before this one. like. the same premise so. i'm gonna assume it was by the same person. hopefully. sorry. anyway.
this is an evil scenario. i kinda dig it.
if lloyd crossed the gate and og lloyd returned to his body at that moment,,, there would be many, many conflicting emotions.
i'm gonna take the premise of the other ask and say the og lloyd that returns is the one from right before he got kicked out of his body. this is an og lloyd that didn't see lloyd save the estate countless times, didn't see the effect he had on everyone around him, that never had any reason to regret everything he'd done.
for arcos and marbella i think it would be an extremely bittersweet situation. they would be overjoyed about having their son again, they were absolutely devastated when they realized they'd lost him so i have no doubt they would be so, so happy if he came back. but at the same,,, it would be dampened by their grief over losing lloyd. they came to love him just as much as they loved their biological children, so they would mourn him just as much as they mourned og lloyd. and they would have to be very careful about how they express that grief lest og lloyd take offense to it and believe they'd rather have lloyd with them than him.
plus. well. og lloyd is,,, an asshole. and would presumably resume his terrible habits and attitude immediately, which would be jarring for everyone, but especially for arcos and marbella who deeply love their son and whose grief over suddenly losing him would probably made them romanticize his memory a little bit. it's a natural thing to do, everyone is a saint once they're dead, and while i don't think they completely forgot how terrible og lloyd was, it's a different thing to remember it while you're grieving and missing them than to see it in person again.
i think they would try their best to repair their relationship with him, grateful for the second chance they got with him, but i don't think they would get very far. the problem never was that they didn't care for og lloyd or didn't make an effort with him, it was that og lloyd wasn't interested in reciprocating those efforts. and it's really hard to make a relationship work when only one party is invested on it.
as for julian,,, it's hard to say because we never get to see how he feels about lloyd replacing his brother in the first place, which i think it's a shame cause he's one of the people who by all means has the most extreme response to lloyd in the entire novel. i think his perspective would've been really interesting to have but alas.
but,,, i don't think he would be happy at all. not even a little bit. maybe a part of him would be relieved his brother isn't dead, but that would be it. assuming this is in line with canon where julian has no idea his brother had been replaced, he'd first have to grapple with the fact that the person he came to love and admire was someone completely different than the one he thought.
that the brother that physically and verbally harassed him his entire life never changed. that the person he forgave and made peace with is not the one that hurt him in the first place. that the one that should've apologized and made amends with him is still the same and has no interest in changing.
that would alone would fuck anyone up, but then he has to also grieve the brother he'd come to love and really admire while having to watch the brother who he hated with a passion walk around like nothing happened.
julian hated og lloyd. he had an extreme hatred for him. and he was completely in his right to do it. so add to it the mess of betrayed feelings he would have plus the grief for lloyd plus a healthy dose of resentment and misattirbutted blame towards og lloyd for being alive when lloyd isn't anymore and,,, yeah. i don't think julian would have any positive feelings in this situation.
i think he would stay just long enough in the estate to be with his parents while the worst of the grief passed and then leave, with no plans of coming back unless his parents needed him to.
also i like to think that at one point julian snapped at og lloyd for one reason or another and when og lloyd went to hit him like usual not only did julian not flinch like he used but also sheherazade went absolutely ballistic on his ass. straight up trying to cut off his arm for it. javier was quick to stop her but like. it was a close thing even considering he's a grandmaster at that point.
after that og lloyd just avoids julian like the plague which suits all of them just fine. sheherazade especially. scary wife privilege <3
as for javier. god javier.
if arcos and marbella were happy about og lloyd coming back and julian was upset about it, javier would fall somewhere in the middle and also create a metric of his own.
just,, imagine the devastation he felt when lloyd crossed the gate on his own, his despair at not being able to protect the person he swore he would die for, then the bright spot of hope and relief when he sees him open his eyes and wake up, thinking that maybe, just maybe, fate was kind to them this time, maybe they get to have this one miracle, maybe they both get to life and be together like they wanted to... only for the slow and terrible realization that this isn't the lloyd he was hoping for. it's not his lloyd.
i think for one brief moment of grief induced insanity javier would genuinely consider throwing og lloyd into the reincarnation gate and see if that would bring back his lloyd. he doesn't of course, he immediately shakes himself out of it, but... the thought would've definitely crossed his mind.
because the thing is, while i've talked before about how javier wasn't glad about og lloyd being replaced and genuinely felt guilty for not being able to help him and for choosing lloyd over him, that's not,,, really because of og lloyd himself. like. it sounds harsh but javier kind of really hated the guy's guts. he cared for him as a member of the frontera family and would've genuinely tried to protect him had there been any need, but it would've been strictly professional and out of duty and loyalty towards arcos, not to og lloyd. which i don't really blame him for tbh! you reap what you sow and og lloyd earned himself nothing but javier's disdain with his actions and words.
but the point is! javier's interest in og lloyd is directly related to him putting his loyalty to arcos above all things. in the hell railroad arc that's his main reason to feel so conflicted about who to choose.
but at this point in the novel javier's loyalties have shifted. he's still extremely loyal to arcos, he still loves the frontera family, he still would protect them with all his being but... now his heart's loyalty belongs to lloyd.
I want to protect him. Lloyd is my true master in my heart.
and i think that, for one split second at least, the part of javier who would do anything for the people he cares about and is loyal to, would genuinely contemplate throwing og lloyd back into the reincarnation gate if there was even the slightest chance it would bring his lloyd back.
but he would quickly snap out of it. he is still very loyal to arcos and marbella, and this is their son, he's still a part of the frontera family and javier cannot, will not, risk his life on the small possibility it will save someone else. not even lloyd.
he would even feel guilty for having considered it in the first place, for letting himself be swept by his emotions, for being so selfish as to think about trading the frontera's son for the chance to get lloyd back. for knowing that even though he didn't do it, a small, grieving and half mad part of him still thinks it would be worth it.
i also think he would have a very hard time being around og lloyd but even a worse one trying to stay away from him. being in the same room as him would be bitter, disappointing and painful, but not being there would be maddening, every instinct telling him to go back, to see if he's alright, to be at the side of the person he'd spent the last few years protecting with everything he had. the one he'd been planning on staying with the rest of his life.
i think it was hard for him to come to love someone wearing the face of a person he hated. but it would be excruciating to see someone he hates wear the face of the person he came to love.
all in all. not a good time for anyone! which i think fucks i love this scenario it really woke up the brain worms <3

Short fic based on my art from my dear friend @scifellgoddess:
Javier Asrahan sits down, curling into himself. His amour is cold and unfeeling, forged steels protecting his skin and trapping warmth. His cloak drapes over his form in a mocking pretense of cover, the fabric as bloodless as it is comforting. Javier feels strangely bare, almost naked, exposed, weak.
Even in this state, he still holds his sword, his weapon, his tool, and his only constant in life. His free hand can do nothing but clench harder into itself and he won't feel nails digging into flesh but at least his mind can conjure up the image of his heart, right there in his hand, still beating and pumping blood and mana despite it all, the only source of pain that still exists and will live on with him, being crushed into mush of blood and meat and nothingness.
Javier thinks of alcohol. He wants a drink, he thinks, after everything. A spoiled Young Master, he muses, will laugh if he ever hears that. The man, legs crossed lazily over the chair, will take one look at Javier's sorry state and drop the bottle he's drinking to the floor. He will then say "I am afraid that there is no more for you" and leave the broken shards and the spilled wine splattered on the wooden floor. And in that same beat, he will turn to the owner and ask for another bottle.
Javier can not see The Young Master's expression or his face. In that place, there are only angry lines and dark light, mocking even without features. He doesn't think it's a matter of memory, because Javier has had years to look at one Lloyd Frontera, and not once did they not meet eyes, even if only briefly. No, because Javier still hates him with all of his being and misses him just as much in turn. There is no lost love, he tries to reason, and yet, here he is, curling into himself in defeat, in victory and triumph, reminiscing at the reminder of Lloyd Frontera.
.
Lloyd Frontera watches as a man slowly approaches his direction. His armor drags behind him, heavy and bloodless. It seems to make him somewhat sluggish and tired, with his long dark cloak drapes along half of his side, matted with filth, drenched in sins. Lloyd doesn't say anything even as his gaze lands on a familiar head of hair, its color standing out entirely from the blazing red of Hell.
He does a not-quite smile, smirk, or grin, and lets his mouth settle on a grimace. Who would have thought, the Hero of the people, the Knight of Blood and Iron, just like his tasteless, crude, and brash Young Master, would one day end up in the deepest corner of Hell. What irony.
When the knight comes, he is unnervingly silent, his eyes unseeing of the Hell around them. Instead, he just sits on the chair at the other side of the table and curls into himself, expression unreadable. He doesn't seem heroic or strong now, Lloyd muses to himself. He just looks as much as a child as Lloyd has always deemed him to be.
Lloyd laughs, barely because it's hard to do so when his throat swells with blood still, and makes a show of swaying the wine bottle in his hand. He hums as it sloshes quietly against the glass, but he does not offer a mocking word or teasing joke to accompany the act like he used to do. Instead, he turns to Javier and drops the bottle, letting it shatter on the ground, pieces of glass flying and wine completely wasted. This seems to affect the Knight, a flash of recognition finally shining in his dark gaze. They meet, eye to eye, though Lloyd wonders if Javier is really seeing him or simply remembering a memory.
It's hilarious, witnessing the usual sharp and cautious Javier Asrahan become this mindless sheep, this thoughtless deer before him, like Lloyd is the start and end catharsis of all of his troubles and miseries. That's quite funny, for him to be the one minor detail that writes out the legendary tale of Javier Asrahan's life. Funny, indeed.
