The Greatest from the O2 Arena— sold out home show! Big big big emotions.
Fearless from Rio— that crowd is so fucking loud. And Latam did the claps!
We Made It from Manila - Asia inclusion, and on LTWT, We Made It was the opener, so the energy was fantastic.

Louis Tomlinson opened his North American tour in Connecticut last night (May 26). The former One Direction singer will head around the United States and Canada for the next month in support of his second solo album ‘Faith In The Future’.
At the first gig, he played songs from across his solo career as well as the cover of the ‘Favourite Worst Nightmare’ track.
Following his North American trek, Tomlinson will head out on a European and UK tour next August. That run of dates includes a concert at The O2 in London on November 17, 2023. In a four star review of ‘Faith In The Future’, NME wrote: “If ‘Walls’ found Tomlinson still figuring out what this part of his artistic journey should be, ‘Faith In The Future’ feels much more assured. “It doesn’t reinvent the wheel of modern guitar music, but is a solid step forward as the musician continues what he’s acknowledged will be “an ever-evolving process”. Album two shows, though, that he’s very much heading the right way.”
Meanwhile, Tomlinson has opened up about his feeling towards the success of his former 1D bandmate Harry Styles. “I’d be lying if I said it didn’t bother me at first,” he said. However, the singer said that he is now happy for Styles. “I look on Harry like a brother, man,” he explained. “I have a lot of pride for what he’s doing.”

Louis Tomlinson covers '505' by the Arctic Monkeys
Calum Russell | SUN 28TH MAY 2023 11.23 BST
The former One Direction member Louis Tomlinson covered the Arctic Monkeys song ‘505’ at a recent performance on May 26th in Connecticut.
Playing at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, during his Faith In The Future world tour, Tomlinson created a memorable moment by covering ‘505’ from the Arctic Monkeys’ 2007 album Favourite Worst Nightmare. Matching his vocal range surprisingly well to that of the band’s lead singer, Alex Turner, Tomlinson created a cover that fans of the musician have wanted to see for a very long time.
Still on tour, Tomlinson will be in Laval and Toronto in Canada on the 29th and 30th of May before returning to multiple locations across the United States in June.
Showing off his latest album, Faith in the Future, Tomlinson will be headed to Europe and the UK in August, playing at the O2 in London on November 17, 2023.
The Scottish indie rock band, The Snuts, will be supporting Tomlinson on a number of performances across the USA. The band just released their new single ‘Gloria.
Take a look at a clip of Tomlinson performing ‘505’ during his Connecticut concert, below.

Behind a paywall after you've read a certain number of articles, so;)
In 1851, Charles Babbage, the English mathematician and inventor, found himself preoccupied with what might happen should coal mines—then and now one of the primary sources of usable energy—become depleted. He concluded that “the sea itself offers a perennial source of power hitherto almost unapplied.” Babbage was talking about tides, those lunar-guided movements of the world’s oceans, and the very synonym of dependable constancy. But while his Difference Engine, a mechanical calculator seen as a seminal fore-runner to the computer, would essentially go on to remake our world, Babbage’s ideas about tidal power drifted in the undercurrent for the next century and a half, largely the province of dreamers.
Lately, however, buoyed by successful demonstration projects and a new interest in renewable energy bolstered even further by Europe’s anticipated turning off of Russian taps, tidal energy is moving increasingly into the mainstream. While the number of megawatts produced annually by tidal—in places from Canada’s Bay of Fundy to South Korea’s Sihwa Lake—is still small, notes Donagh Cagney, policy director for the advocacy group Ocean Energy Europe, “the increase is exponential.” For example, by 2050, tidal energy is expected to account for 11% of the U.K.’s electricity, compared with just 3% today.
But in remote coastal Scotland, some residents are already getting a taste of that future. Scotland has become to tidal energy what Saudi Arabia is to fossil fuels. Cagney chalks this up to several factors, ranging from its geography—the country is blessed with some of the world’s fastest-moving tidal sounds—to its experience in working with offshore oil extraction. For those reasons, it has for almost two decades hosted the world’s biggest grid-connected test bed for tidal energy, the Euro-pean Marine Energy Centre (EMEC). Founded in 2003, it’s headquartered in the Orkney Islands, off Scotland’s northern coast. Neil Kermode, the center’s director since 2005, has seen some 35 tidal-energy projects tested, by startups that have come and gone—some shuttered for lack of capitalization or nonviable technology, some absorbed by larger companies like GE.
But the biggest project ever run at EMEC is still there, providing power for 1 in 12 Orcadian households. The O2, as it’s dubbed, created by the Scottish company Orbital Marine, weighs some 680 tons, is longer than a Boeing 747, and skims the top of the water like the world’s largest rowing scull. “It looks like, well, a yellow submarine,” says Kermode. “When you see it, and the tide is roaring past, it’s really hard to realize it’s stationary. There’s a real optical illusion—you think this thing is being towed through the water.” But the O2 is chained to the seabed, via four cables, each capable of lifting some 50 double-decker buses off the ground. Only the water is moving, pushing two 10-m.-long turbines with some 100 metric tons of pressure, and continuously generating 2,000 megawatts (mW), enough to power roughly 2,000 homes.
For the entrepreneurs and researchers dedicated to harnessing that power, the ocean—that primordial space out of which so much of life on earth emerged—seems destined to once again supply the forces that will help create a new phase of history. But as anyone who has ever battled the waves by boat or board knows, taming the tides will be a gargantuan task.
The idea is simple. First, tides. They rise and fall predictably, relentlessly driven by the gravitational pull of the moon. Those traits combined make the tide an attractive proposition for powering the grid. “The sun doesn’t always shine; the wind doesn’t always blow,” notes Simon Forrest, the CEO of Scotland-based tidal-power producer Nova Innovation. But with tidal, he says, “we can tell you how much we will be generating two minutes past 3 in the morning a month from now, five years from now.”
Second, you need what is basically the equivalent of a wind turbine, placed underwater (either moored to the seabed or attached to the underside of some floating structure), which drives a generator. And luckily, water is denser than air, by some 800 times. “You tend to get a more compact, powerful source of energy,” says Forrest. “Our turbines are a lot smaller than wind turbines, but produce a lot more bang for the buck.” Nova, in particular, has other advantages: where the O2 floats, Nova’s turbines lie beneath the ocean surface. “Our technologies are unaffected by storms,” says Forrest. There’s no visual impact, he says—aesthetics have been a reason many people have objected to wind turbines in the past—and do not create hazards for shipping or other marine operations.
Nova billed its initial deployment, in Scotland’s Shetland Islands in 2016, as the “world’s first offshore tidal array.” There are now six turbines in Shetland’s Bluemull Sound, powering homes and, thanks to a collaboration with Tesla, electric-vehicle charge points as well. After the success of that project, authorities granted Nova a license to build a 50-mW array, which will provide up to one-third of Shetland’s power.
“We’ve been producing clean, predictable power for six years in Shetland,” says Forrest. “And you don’t see it.” Another thing that consumers on Shetland—or Orkney—do not see is the true price of their energy use on their monthly bills, thanks to government subsidies. For the technology to grow and spread globally, tidal-energy companies will need to reduce costs through scale and technology-driven efficiency improvements. It’s not a fantasy; for example, in the U.S., the price of wind power has fallen 70% over the past decade.
There is the question of how mass deployment of tidal turbines might impact the seas. “If you are putting something in the ocean that is extracting energy, [you] are perturbating the ocean,” says Michela de Dominicis, a senior scientist with the U.K.’s National Oceanographic Centre. “This can have cascading effects,” like disrupting the nutrient mix of ocean ecosystems as well as raising water temperatures. Her research suggests, however, that any disturbances may well be worth it. “In one of my papers I was showing that even if I’m putting like 20,000 turbines at sea and I’m perturbating the environment,” she says, “this effect is one order of magnitude less than what can happen with climate change.”
Tidal energy’s biggest hurdle may simply be the limited number of places in the world where it’s possible. In the U.S., aside from a small project in New York’s East River—which powers the equivalent of fewer than 400 homes—few sites have been identified that have the promise of Scotland’s waters. What the U.S. does have in abundance is coastline, which speaks to the promise of another ocean-energy source: waves. Despite an early burst of enthusiasm for wave power a few decades ago, tidal has since eclipsed it, in part because the open seas make for a more challenging environment. “It’s an unconventional resource,” says Andrew Scott, the CEO of Orbital Marine, who previously worked at Pelamis, an early and now defunct wave-power startup. “Waves have a vertical excursion. They’ve got a horizontal excursion. They’ve got a cyclical motion; they’ve got buoyance force; they’ve got different wavelengths that come at different angles. There’s no conceptual agreement … as to how you’re going to capture the energy.”
Given the potential payoff, however, people keep seeking new solutions. Inna Braverman, co-founder and CEO of the Israeli startup Eco Wave Power, thinks that early wave-power pioneers erred in trying to work far offshore. “The price was sky-high,” she says. “You need divers; you need to put all the conversion equipment inside the actual floaters that are in the middle of the sea.” Her company instead affixes wave-driven generators to onshore features like breakwaters. A pilot project in Gibraltar has been providing power for roughly 100 homes since 2016 at a fraction of the cost of offshore wave projects, she says. And the company is ramping up, with megawatt-level projects in Portugal and, most recently, the Port of Los Angeles.
Whether it’s moving on a wave or via the tide, water seems an integral part of the future energy equation. “The low-hanging fruit of wind and solar has been plucked,” says Cagney. “To get to net zero, we’re going to need every renewables resource we’ve got.” And as the global impacts of the Russian invasion of Ukraine underscore, energy security requires having a diversity of inputs. “There’s an advantage in having an energy source driven by a different sort of forces, because it means they don’t all align at the same time,” says Forrest. “If the wind doesn’t blow, it doesn’t stop the tide from flowing.”

Hi there! :)
I just wanted to thank you for taking the time and energy to make your V-BL post. Honestly, I never would have found any of those shows without you cataloging them, and I’ve had a lot of fun picking my way through the list.
Related: I was minding my own business scrolling through Gagaoolala last night and saw Mr. Cinderella on the coming soon list! (In Canada, Nov. 30th) I’ve wanted to watch Mr. Cinderella for awhile, but there always seems to be a chunk of episodes locked. So I’m excited to get a chance to watch it, and kind of proud of the production company for getting a deal with gaga!
Apologies if you already heard this news :) I just want to thank you again for putting it on my radar.
Always glad to! I really need to update it, there are a few more I could add to that list at this point that I haven't... though I dunno when I will, apologies. But I'm so glad to have helped you! There's so many fun little shows and you can start finding more sometimes by sheer algorithm.
Oh, yes! I did see it and I'm thrilled that they got another show on Gaga after The Lost Ring! O2 is a good production company but they struggle so much with money that it can get frustrating and I really, really hope that Gaga can help with that. Seriously. Because if they don't stop fundraising for The Lost Ring someday I might actively lose my mind because they keep raising the money and then making something else... oh, O2. Love you despite yourself.
I am so, so hopeful that getting it onto Gaga will help them get more views, a larger audience and... maybe learn how to fundraise better.

Louis Tomlinson Unveils Sophomore Solo Album ‘Faith in the Future’
The LP contains singles "Bigger Than Me," "Out of My System" and the newly released "Silver Tongues."
Louis Tomlinson released his sophomore studio set, Faith in the Future, on Friday (Nov. 11) via BMG.
Louis Tomlinson released his sophomore studio set, Faith in the Future, on Friday (Nov. 11) via BMG.
The new album arrives nearly three years after the former One Direction-er’s debut solo outing Walls — which bowed at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 upon its January 2020 release. On top of previously released lead single “Bigger Than Me,” the churning “Out of My System” and pop-punk anthem “Silver Tongues,” the 14-track LP contains cuts like “The Greatest,” “Written All Over Your Face,” “Face the Music” and “She Is Beauty We Are World Class.”
When he first announced the project back in August, Tomlinson teased that he had been “living with this album for a while” and thanked his fans for giving him the space to make the music he very specifically “wanted to make.”
To support the album, the boy band alum will embark on his Faith in the Future World Tour 2023, which kicks off May 26 in Uncasville, Conn. and hits major cities across the U.S. and Canada including Chicago, Vancouver, Atlanta and Nashville before hopping the pond for another slew of dates in the U.K. and Europe. But before that, he’s holding a pair of release concerts at New York City’s Irving Plaza on Friday night and London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire the following week on Nov. 18.
In the promo cycle leading up to the release of Faith in the Future, Tomlinson spoke candidly about his relationships with his former 1D bandmates, whether that meant admitting he used to be bothered by Harry Styles’ solo success or sharing an update on his once-tense relationship with Zayn.

“Grandpa died last week and now he’s buried in the rocks. But everybody still talks about how badly they were shocked. But me, I expected it to happen, I knew he’d lost control. When I built a speed fire on Main Street and shot it full of holes.”
Bob Dylan.
“Ballad of the Last Five Years”- The Guess Who - Road Food
“So step right up and put your music where your mouth is.”
Just an all around amazing line. Also The Guess Who is definitely one of the top bands out of Canada. And I do not take constructive criticism.
“Up the Junction” - Squeeze - Cool for Cats
“I never thought it would happen between me and the girl from Clapham.”
The opening line of “Up the Junction” sets up one of my top ten favorite narrative songs of all time. Also see “A Quick One While He’s Away” by The Who, which is another one of the best narrative pieces, but the lyrics don’t stick to the inside of your brain quite like Squeeze.
“Everyday I Write the Book” - Elvis Costello -Punch the Clock
“Even in a perfect world where everyone was equal, I’d still own the film rights and be working on the sequel.”
There’s so many Costello lyrics I could have put here, but “Everyday I Write the Book” is cute, clever and one of the few not-depressing songs he’s written.
“What’s the Ugliest Part of Your Body” - The Mothers of Invention - We’re Only in it For the Money
“What’s the ugliest part of your body? Some say your nose. Some say your toes. But I think it’s your mind.”
What’s a song written by Zappa without some cynicism? Here he’s criticizing societal and generational ignorance, as per usual. In short, some people are real stupid.
“Andy’s Chest” - The Velvet Underground - VU
“And just like in a movie, her hands became her feet. Her belly button became her mouth which meant she tasted what she’d speak.”
Thank you Lou Reed, you have outdone yourself.
DJ eyelyds
In no particular order…and also as of right now because everything I like is tinged by extreme recency bias.
“Web in Front” Archers of Loaf Icky Mettle
“Stuck a pin in your backbone/ Spoke it down from there/ All I ever wanted was to be your spine”
As the opening lyrics of this two-minute song cut into the mix before any of the instrumentals get a chance, the catchy tone of lead singer/guitarist Eric Bachmann’s songwriting is apparent. His performance on both guitar and vocals has this nervous, sporadic energy that feels like it’s just barely being reigned in lends itself nicely to the subject matter of the song. For me, I read it as an obsessive almost neurotic love song. Bachmann wants so desperately to support this person that he would be happy physically being a part of them; to be their spine. More than happy actually, it’s all he ever wanted
“Drunk Drivers/Killer Whales (Live at O2 Forum Kentish Town, London, England) Car Seat Headrest Commit Yourself Completely”
“And if you can’t find your friends, you can leave without them/ And if you run out of drugs, you can sleep without them/ And if you want to go home, you can call a taxi/ And if you don’t wanna talk, you can sit in the backseat/ Please! Please”
In this live rendition of “Drunk Drivers/Killer Whales” off the 2019 live album Commit Yourself Completely Will Toledo adds this outro/verse. It connects to the themes throughout the song of well… not driving drunk. But it has a more bittersweet tone than a PSA ever could, especially in the context of the entire album of Teens of Denial, especially considering the song “Drugs With Friends.” Toledo is great at painting drug use as almost a marker of innocence and notes the isolation that can come from overuse. The opening line of the added outro, “And if you can’t find your friends, you can leave without” has a sort of tongue-in-cheek tone, in the sense that it is genuine advice to get home safe, but also is a somewhat childish way of exiting the situation. Toledo knows that he’s not a saint, nor an authority. He’s just made the same mistakes and is trying to make sure you don’t do the same. Please don’t do the same.
“Anthems For A Seventeen Year-Old Girl” Broken Social Scene You Forgot It In People
“Park that car, drop that phone, sleep on the floor, dream about me”
Sung by Metric’s Emily Haines, this whole song makes heavy use of repetition, with every lyric being said at least four times. This line is repeated the most and is also my personal favorite of the song. You can read it in so many different ways. Initially, I read it as being said to a lover, and hoping that they are constantly thinking about her. But the more interesting reading (and probably the more accurate one when considering the title) is a message to herself when she was seventeen. With this lyric specifically, a message to think about her future in a positive light, and not worry too much about her current anxieties: slow down, stop driving, take a rest, and think about your future. Not of all of the anxieties of being older, but rather the assurance that things will ultimately work out. The repetition of the line, as well as the amount of sincerity in her tone of voice help to sell this line, and the themes of the song in general.

“As the World Falls Down” - David Bowie - Labyrinth
“I’ll paint you mornings of gold/I’ll paint you Valentine evenings/Though we’re strangers ‘til now/We’re choosing the path/Between the stars/I’ll leave my love/Between the stars”
Dorky love song for the dorkiest movie. It’s so cheesy but I will say the lyrics make me emo. I want someone to love me the way Jareth loves Sarah. :(
“Army of Ancients” - Dr. Dog - Fate
“I don’t wanna wake up/I don’t wanna move/I’ll skip the sermon and stick to the booze/I’m sorry/But I’ll take what I want in the dawn’s early light”
I think the build up to “I’m sorry” is what really gets me with these lyrics. You gotta listen to understand how he screams it. He’s truly sorry.
“Sports” - Viagra Boys - Street Worms
“Baseball/Basketball/Wiener dog/Short shorts, cigarette/Surfboard, ping pong/Rugby ball, wiener dog/Skiing down on the beach/Sports”
Epitome of America in this one. This reminds me of the horrors of high and middle school gym class.
Ben
These are the lyrics that make me laugh the most. Attempting to narrow down the lyrics that are most meaningful to me was making my head hurt.
"Harlem shake? Nah, I'm in Harlem shaking the weight
Shaking to bake, shaking the Jakes
Kill you, shoot the funeral up and Harlem Shake at your wake"
-Cam’ron, “Down and Out”
If the lyrics from this video counted, I would have included “Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall/Splattered his skull/I witnessed it/That was my dawg,” but I will settle for the original. Every word spoken by Cam'ron on Purple Haze is tattoed to my subconcious.
"See me on the court if you wanna diss me
Let's play a game of 21, it's really fun
I got half court shots and I'll post you up
I'm Latrell Sprewell, I'll choke the coach"
-Lil B - “Fuck KD”
I do not endorse any acts of violence perpetrated towards former NBA coach P.J. Carlesimo.
"Put a pill in a McFlurry, I'm goofy
Shoot me, acting for the cameras, it's a movie
I can see you're gloomy, 'cause I'm too t'd
I'm a dog on the roof like Snoopy"
-Bladee - “I’m Goofy”
This one both makes me laugh and is very meaningful to me.
DJ Penny Lane
“Brokedown Palace” - Grateful Dead - American Beauty
“Momma Momma many worlds I’ve come since I first left home”
This is one of my favorite lyrics of all time! It really puts life into perspective on how far you can go in life with “many worlds I’ve come”, yet you’ll always have those memories from your childhood growing up at home. The lyric itself is sung in a pleading way, making many listeners emotional because it's like “Look mom! Look how far I’ve come and how many worlds I’ve traveled!” So yeah baller lyric it even makes John Mayer cry when he performs it.
“Going to California” - Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV
“Made up my mind to make a new start/Going to California with an aching in my heart”
This one hits close to home, being from California I always find myself listening to this song. It’s such a thrilling feeling to get the motivation to start something new and change your whole life. Especially when that new place feels so natural like you are meant to go there or like in the song “with and aching in my heart.”
 “August” - Flipturn - Citrona
“But now you’re a stranger, And I’m still July, But don’t you remember, August, honey you were mine”
Current favorite song of the moment, highly recommend listening to this song in a car. The song is supposed to reflect on how in life we come across people that can be the closest people to us and know us better than anyone, then at another they become complete strangers. Flipturn wrote the song because one of the members was only having luck finding love in the month of August, then after that month everything would fall apart. I love when they say “I’m still July” because it means the person is still stuck in the month before August, making their lover a stranger.
tide2004
“This Floating World” – I Hate Sex – This Floating World
“In my fall I would feel so light, so warm / I would have no regrets, no fear and above all things / I would be alone, floating along”
“Alison” – Slowdive – Souvlaki
“Alison, I'll drink your wine / And wear your clothes when we're both high / ‘Alison’, I said, ‘We're sinking’ / But she laughs and tells me it's just fine”
“Vendetta” – Irate (NYC) – New York Metal
“This ain't mall metal made for little bitches”
kmurph!!!!
unfortunately, i would have actually dropped dead if i tried to narrow this down to three. so, five it is. some of these are serious and some are not, and i love them all equally.
“bonfire”-childish gambino-camp
“made the beat then murdered it, casey anthony”
i laugh every single time i hear this lyric, which has got to be hundreds if not thousands of times at this point. idk if i should be laughing at it, honestly. but it has the exact desired impact.
“no flex”-tiny meat gang-locals only
“i pull up in a foreign whip-you hear my honda civic/i pulled another foreign bitch-i think she might be british (i got a text!)”
to those whom this lyric is significant, it has layers upon layers. TMG cooked so hard on their joke music that they realized they were accidentally making unironically good music.
“john my beloved”-sufjan stevens-carrie and lowell
“so can we be friends, sweetly/before the mystery ends?/i love you more than the world can contain/in its lonely and ramshackle head”
you could sub this out with any collection of words sufjan stevens has ever written and i would stand by it.
“turn me down”-julia jacklin-crushing
“don’t look at me, look at the centre line/maybe i’ll see you in a supermarket sometime”
this was the best and also most utterly soul-crushing and devastating and life-ruining way to end this song. i love it.
“fear city”-surf curse-magic hour“i might just cum at the sound of the dying child in me/(wait, what did he say?)/i said my hair's just way too short to make a living/ (that's definitely not what he said)”
i just adore the complete absurdity of this. i don’t know why it was written but i’m so glad it was. brightens my day a little bit every time i hear this little exchange. also lowkey poetic.

Sofia!!
“And when everyone winds me up I just can't wind down/ and the April rain soaks my jokes to a pulp/ the sun makes my eyes burn/ and it must be my turn/ to fly with the birds this time”
“The Birds” – Swervedriver, Ejector Seat Reservation
I LOVE THIS ENTIRE SONG AND ALL ITS LYRICS!!!!!!
“We dreamt of all of your lives as we carry home dust of the cloudless summer skies/ And the salt that we give is of us and all we ever had waste in the same place in the end
“The Same Place” – Centaur, In Streams
Apparently the lyrics to the songs on this album are about the singer’s kid that died while the album was being written, which is definitely why this song and all the rest are so sad they’re almost unlistenable. All of the lyrics to this song are so emotional and they complement its heavy sound so well.
“Watching the parade with pinpoint eyes full of smoldering anger/ you can do whatever you want to, whenever you want to”
“Ballad of Big Nothing” – Elliott Smith, Either/Or
Honestly picking a favorite Elliott Smith lyric is kind of an impossible task, but this one always sticks out to me. This song is about being tired of your life and addicted to drugs – the repetition of the line about doing whatever you want to and the bitterness with which he says it is so impactful.
“When the loving comes and we’re already gone/ Just like your dad, you’ll never change”
“Sulk” – Radiohead, The Bends
Lol
“I’ll make a bitch stand outside forever like the Statue of Liberty”
“I Don’t Fuck with You” – Big Sean (E-40’s verse),  Dark Sky Paradise
I mean… come on…
Zola Thomas
“Dont trust me” - 3!OH3, Want
“tell your boyfriend if he says he got beef, that im a vegetarian and I aint fucking scared of him”
3!OH3 might not be remembered as musical geniuses of their time (or remembered at all), but this might be one of the best lyrics of 2008. Using beef in its literal, and figurative sense helped create one of the most creative lyrics to come out of late 2000s electropop. While most of their other songs have faded away into obscurity, Don't trust me has managed to cling onto a resemblance of cultural relevance thanks to the genius of this lyric
“Fat lip” - Sum 41 - all killer, no filler
“I like songs with distortion, to drink in proportion the doctor said my mom should've had an abortion”
While on its own, this lyric is a nugget of genius, the thirty seconds of “bortion” echoing before the chorus only adds to it, and really adds to the ambiance of the song. There's so many other great lyrics in this song, but the abortion echo solidifies this as the best parts of the song.
“Taco Truck x VB” - Lana del rey -  Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean blvd
“Pass me my vape, I'm feeling sick, I need to take a puff”
Lana has written many amazing lyrics throughout her career, she is known for her storytelling through her songwriting. Lana is also known for her affinity for vaping, so it might not have been too surprising when her art imitated reality, and she sang about craving her vape. She's so real for that.
“Thrift shop” - Macklemore - The heist
“What you know about rocking a wolf on your noggin? What you knowing about wearing a fur fox skin? I'm digging, I'm digging, I'm searching right through that  luggage One man's trash, that's another man's come up”
Nobody encapsulates the feeling of an amazing score at the thrift shop better than macklemore. He managed to make thrifting exciting, and gave a voice to the random crap you always see at the thrift store.

Sharon Tokonitz - phaware® interview 449
Six years ago, Canadian pulmonary hypertension patient Sharon Tokonitz was rushed to the hospital with a massive bilateral unprovoked pulmonary embolism. She discusses her road to recovery from being bedridden to returning to an active life thanks to pulmonary rehab.
My name is Sharon Tokonitz. I live in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, which is 100 miles south of Ottawa, the capital of Canada. I ended up, September 11, 2017, going into the hospital by ambulance, with a massive bilateral unprovoked pulmonary embolism. A year before, I had gone to my family physician, because I started sweating. Now, it was July. It was hot weather. But something, in my mind, just didn't seem right with me. Because there's heart disease in my family, my family physician referred me to a cardiologist. He told me, "There's not a thing wrong with your heart," he said. "It's got to be your lungs." I saw him in September. By the time the referral went to respirology, it was November. Then from November of 2016 to July before I got an appointment with a respirologist, as soon as she examined me, she said, "Wow, there's a blockage someplace in your chest. Don't know what it is, but we've got to start testing and find out what's going on." That was July of 2017. On September 11, 2017, I went into Kingston General Hospital emergency, and had almost lost my life. The doctor said, "Why did you wait so long? Another couple of hours, and you wouldn't be talking with me." That's how quick it was. I spent the next eight months in hospital from ICU at Kingston General, and then they transferred me almost three months later, over to a rehab facility in Kingston. So I spent from September until May for the first round of being in the hospital. It wasn't really shocking, because I started sweating. Like I said, it was in July, so it was hot, humid. But every time I'd get out of the shower, it was like, I'd towel dry, and then it was just running down my face. I had this sense of doom or something that was like, something's not right with me, because I never felt like that before. I mean, I'd always been a person that never sat down, was always on the go. Nursing and raising two children, two boys, active boys, and just never sat down. Something just wasn't right. I thought that was the end of me. I had a wonderful respirologist. They were going to try to do surgery to remove the clots out of my lungs. But after all my testing, the doctor that was going to do the surgery said that it was not possible. I never did have the surgery. I still have clots in my lungs. But when I went to rehab, they got me up from being bedridden, up and going shopping at Walmart. The head of rehab, he ordered the walker for me. After nursing and being so active and on the go, and then there's a walker presented to me. I said, "Oh, I don't want that thing." He said, "We're going to get you up and get you out shopping and all." I said, "Oh, I'll never be shopping again." I was just so pessimistic that my life was done. I mean, they got me up, and like I said, I started shopping at Walmart and the local mall and whatever. Then the pandemic hit. Life during COVOD was very difficult. I was housebound. I wasn't going to doctor's appointments. Doctors were calling me at home. I wasn’t seeing anybody. I live in an apartment building with mostly seniors over 55. Nobody was visiting us. Families couldn't visit or anything. It was just everybody was on lockdown. I wasn't going to rehab. I was not seeing my respirologist. She was calling me with appointments, going over my blood pressure and my O2 on the oximeter. Physio didn't start back up until a year and a half after COVID started. So I was just in my apartment. The only calls I got was from my two sons. Life was rough then. It felt like you were bedridden again, almost. I started getting back to my clinic appointments, which I just have regular physical appointments all the time. Echocardiograms, and it just goes on and on and on. Then, because my respirologist, who is such a dear doctor to all of us, she does research 75% of her time. She works in critical care and ICU 100% of her time. She was doing clinics for pulmonary hypertension 100% of her time. She was never home, so she had to give up something to have a life of her own also. So she gave up her clinics. So I've been transferred now to the Ottawa Heart Institute. After the world opened up from the pandemic, things have gotten easier. I go to Walmart more. I'm going to my regular appointments. You start to see a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel, "Well, maybe I can start living again." The statistics have always been, you might live three years. Now it's come up, like four years, maybe five years. For me, it'll be six years in September, and I'm still going strong. Yeah, there's days that I'm so tired I can't navigate, days I can't breathe. But I'm stubborn, and away I go, with the help from the doctors and everyone else. You can get very lonely when you get this diagnosis, and you think that your life has ended right there. I shouldn't say it's nice to know that somebody else is in the same position, but when they are in the same position, we can maybe help each other out. My name is Sharon Tokonitz, and I'm aware that I'm rare.
