#now to be clear this is bc of my arfid AND bc of where I grew up. if i grew up somewhere where I actually ate more cultural foods than US
Text
something that makes me sad about arfid is that I can’t enjoy people’s cultural foods. I would really, really like to, but I also know that they’re all things I can’t eat. The closest I can get is lo mein, and even then it’s super americanized. My university is has a fair number of cultural exchange nights, where they serve food from a specific part of the world (I think the upcoming one is West Africa or Ghana, the email was confusing) and I think they would be so fun to go to! I’d love to try Ghanaian food! But once I think about the realities of the situation, I know it would go so incredibly badly for me and I wouldn’t be able to eat anything
