I was excited to work on the topic Nocturnal Animals - because I'm pretty much a nocturnal animal myself 😅 Ive brought in a little New England flare with red barns, so very Vermont! 🐓 We have bats fluttering over every night, foxes occasionally pay a visit, raccoons do their noisy fights in out backyard almost every night and you have to take Badger Street to get to our house. 🦡 So this design was very much life inspired! I really liked the topic of this challenge but got a little stuck choosing a style 🙃 My original plan was to do gouache, but then I decided to challenge myself to draw in Procreate since I feel like it's becoming the new industry standard. 🎨I've had an iPad for a year but haven't gotten into Procreate, every time I tried it, something felt wrong: the size, the sensation of scrubbing the glass with Apple pencil and what not 😄 ✏️🍎 I decided to challenge myself to keep going, I'm happy with the way it came out. I think we'll be friends ☺️ As for the idea itself, I'm not into the very popular mid-century retro style 😬 (sue me!), 😄 but I knew I wanted to draw floral, almost folk-looking bugs and finally landed on the idea of a night in the garden as I'm quite a nocturnal creature myself and love gardens ✨🌌🏡 Link to vote for this design is in bio - Nocturnal Bugs by pattern_talent.
