*最低 (saitei) and 最悪 (saiaku), both of them means the same = the worst. Saitei also could mean the lowest. Saiaku usually used in a sense that something is malignant, mean or harmful. It put both coz wanna show the meeting is the lowest worst I guess? :3

I don’t remember if I shared this on Tumblr because I made the shitpost on Twitter first, but anyway. In one of the recent Ikesen JP events, there was this chibi where I thought Hide was kissing Nobu’s hand and I was like “This does not seem right”.

As you can see if you look at it closely he isn’t, but it was really small on my phone, so it’s not really my fault for seeing it wrong.

It’s Cybirb’s fault for making a misleading image dammit.

What actually was happening is Hide was kneeling and Nobu was just like “You may stand”

JP version: "Toyotomi Hideyoshi has just arrived".

The translator has a tendency to make things sound flowery because ~upper class speech~ or whatever, but sometimes... the words they use... is... uh... 

Hide saying “has returned to your side” has the impression that he’s coming back to live in Kiyosu permanently again (or at least he’s staying for a good long while), not “just dropping by for a short visit”. Like, you know, I get what it means, but the wording feels strange sometimes. 

Is it because 只今 reads “tadaima”? Like... ffff, yeah, “tadaima” is usually said to mean “I’m home” but 只今参上 means “I’ve arrived/I’ve come”. It’s an old-fashioned greeting when a vassal comes to see his lord, and has nothing to do with “coming home” or “returning”. 

Also it’s feeding my crackshipping urges, I’ve been trying to stop doing that. Translator don’t bait me. To my trollshipping lens it sounds like “Nobu-sama I miss you uwu”

Except it’s worse, because there’s this nonsense with Akechi that you could read wrong too.

Clearly I’ve been reading too much otome games and romance novels, because to me this sounds like a heroine narrating about an ice prince type of love interest. Chinese romance webnovels usually talk about the “cold and domineering” male lead this way D:

Also the Nobu thing was WTF the whole time.

No, really, like, the candles are just the castle’s lighting candles, so it seriously means nothing but mentioning candles + dinner in that close proximity just sends my brain in weird places. 

And then when Hide is about to leave, it’s Nobu who goes “Wait wait, there’s that thing I promised remember?” and showed off the grand room in the Azuchi tower and the world map that he had. Again, ugh. I know this can just have a best friends forever slant, I would be like this with my BFF too like “BESTIE I HAVE THIS AMAZING THING COME AND LOOK IT’S REALLY GREAT”. Ffff, no, but what makes this sound funny is the part about the 100 years.

So, the context of the 100 years is apparently Hide saying he wants to live for 100 years to travel around the world, and Nobu says “Yes lets live until 100 years” like... implying y’all want to go travel the world together???? No wonder it’s a shipping line WTF.

Sorry for doubting you translator LMAO.

"Adoration" seemed a bit much, and I wasn't sure if it was right because there was a case where the translator translated "tadaima sanjou" weirdly. They had translated it into "I've returned to your side", when it actually just means "I'm here/I've arrived".

But among other things 慕って does mean adore, so okay LOL.

Honestly, contextually I think saying "admiration" or "deep respect" is okay too, just so that it doesn't sound wonky, but I think it's hilarious, so whatever.

Whenever I have sane moments don’t ship them, my headcanon is that Nobu was the one who gave Hide the “Hide” kanji itself to pseudo adopt him as a “sworn brother” of sorts because he reminds him of Dad :v 

For shipping it’s the same, just with a weird slant. Also the heirloom sword that Nobubu gave Hide is very :V in this context.

Nobu actually has brothers whose name is Hide-something, after all. Hidetoshi, Hidetaka... I think there was a third one that I don’t remember of the top of my head (THERE’S 12 OF THEM GIVE ME A BREAK).

(in Volteg-universe it’s shown that Hideyoshi’s original name is Toukichirou, and I don’t think we ever did find out where the “Hide” came from. Probably is meant to be assumed that he just made it up himself)

The other day I mentioned that why the hell do people assume Nobu would be spending the night in Nagahama

Like, there’s multiple accounts where Nobu just did a round trip between... IIRC Kiyosu and Gifu? He rode on a horse all day, no rest stops, and nobody asked questions, but he ferries across the lake and people assume he had to have spent the night in Nagahama... why? 

My crackship headcanon is that he legit does it all the time for ~ulterior motives~ and nobody in Azuchi ever questions it is because “well I needed the rest” is a very sensible explanation.

Like. I know it’s a reach, but that record of the day where everyone freaked out because Nobu didn’t spend the night? Hideyoshi happens to be away at the time, because Chuugoku stuff was happening. 

The sensible part of me is thinking “how do the people in Nagahama not say anything”, but eh. Crackship needs no logic. I’ve seen weirder mental gymnastics being pulled to explain WTF plotlines in manga and anime.
