Tw: eight legged menaces endangering Jamil’s health, Kalim being too precious for this world
“Jamil.”
There was no getting him to back down. It just wasn’t possible, not in this case…nope. Once Jamil was ready to kill, he was ready to go out swinging.
Jamil slowly held up the knife that he was about to cut meat with, staring painfully hard at the eight legged devil before him. The creature seemed to be staring back at him, but you couldn’t tell because of how many eyes it had. You could very, very faintly hear the typical background music associated with old Westerns, where two parties stare each other down to see who would strike first… waa waaa waaaaaa dun dunnnnn.
“Jamil Viper. Put the knife down and come over here so we can call someone to come kill it!”
“I must defend this kitchen and my beloved.”
“Not by stabbing it!”
The hissing menace you called your boyfriend squinted. You swore you saw his pupils turn into slits.
“You don’t understand. It challenged my authority in this kitchen. It must pay.”
“Jamiiiiil~!”
Kalim, who was coming to ask Jamil a question, paused upon seeing him armed with a very large knife and staring down a spider.
“Oh, a spider. I’ll get it!”
Without any warning, the ball of sunshine that you called your friend (and secretly, son) rolled up his sleeves and plucked the spider into his bare hand. You and Jamil froze in shock as Kalim made off with the spider and took it outside. Once it registered that Kalim had just touched a potentially venomous creature, Jamil about jumped out of his skin and took off after him, leaving you to wonder what on earth just happened.
“Kalim!!!”
You decided to deep clean the kitchen lest Jamil had a heart attack and the urge to commit arson…you didn’t want to have a rerun of the time he tried to burn down Mr. Sam’s shop. By the time you were done, you found him lecturing Kalim, squishing the poor sunshine’s cheeks while he whined.
“Kalim. Why?! You shouldn’t just pick up random animals if you don’t know if they’re dangerous or not!”
“Aaaaa! I’m sorry, I know you don’t like spiders so I took it outside so you wouldn’t try to set the place on fire again!”
Jamil sighed heavily, so heavily that you thought he’d choke on air, patting Kalim’s head.
“Don’t touch anything next time.”
Later that night, Jamil was curled up by your side, head resting on your chest. He was still painfully stiff after the fiasco with the spider and worrying for Kalim’s safety after touching it. You laughed and kissed his forehead, gently undoing his ponytail and his braids. You were the only other person who was allowed to do that and not run the risk of losing a part of your body.
“It wasn’t a venomous spider.”
Jamil made a noise in response to show that while he was too comfortable to talk, he was listening. He visibly loosened up at the news.
“Nnn..”
He was tired and you couldn’t blame him in the slightest. Not wanting to disturb him further, you slowly combed your fingers through his hair and began to massage his scalp.
“Sleep well, love.”
